body
Choose your destination by your budget!

If you plan to travel medium- or long-term on a small budget, choose a cheap destination, even if it has a higher one-time cost to get there (long-distance flights).

For example in Southeast Asia you can comfortably travel for less than 15$ a day - including accommodation (hostel/hotel), eating out for every meal, transport, entrance fees and even a few beers. For the same budget, you couldn't even find a hostel or a decent dinner in most western countries!

The next tip goes hand in hand with the one before: Travel long-term to significantly reduce your average daily expenses! Apart from the cost of flights to get to your destination, which are a one-time expense no matter if you travel for a weekend or for a year, if you travel for a short time, you will likely spend quite some money on transport since you want to see as much as possible. If you travel for a longer time in the same place, you will take more time for each place and therefore spread your travel expenses over a longer time. I can really recommend traveling slowly, even if you are traveling short-term! The instagrammable shots that you will miss are more than made up by the experiences you will have when taking your time and meeting locals!

Here are some more tips:

-Eat like a local and ditch TripAdvisor to get authentic and cheap local food!

-Compare accommodation prices on different platforms and check if there is cashback available! Which platform is the best varies from place to place or sometimes country to country - for hostels, it's mostly either Agoda (Asia) or booking.com, but in some countries places are only listed in Hostelworld. I get 4% cashback on every booking I make on booking.com and it saves a lot over time! Mostly, online prices are cheaper than walk-in prices. I often don't book ahead, but if you I the walk-in price to steep and they refuse to lower it, I can still book online.

-In some countries, you can get significantly cheaper prices when booking transport online instead of at the counter (e.g. Flixbus in Germany/Europe!)

-Avoid obvious tourist traps and always ask for the price first!

For more travel advice, check out the travel advice compilations published by @travelfeed on Steemit every Saturday! (full disclose: I am the co-founder of @travelfeed)

      "json_metadata": "{\"app\":\"Musing\",\"appTags\":[\"travel\"],\"appCategory\":\"travel\",\"appBody\":\"

For more travel advice, check out the travel advice compilations published by @travelfeed on Steemit every Saturday! body
Undeniably, Japan, my favorite country on the planet Earth.

Franco-Algerian, I live an endless love story with this country since the first time I went there, at the age of 14, in 1990.

I went there many times, I lived there, and I speak the Japanese language. The magic always works :)

I particularly recommend, by region:

  In the Kanto (Tokyo area)

Tokyo: Meiji-Jingu Shinto Shrine, near Harajuku Subway, traditional Shintoiste Hie-Jinja Temple surrounded by skyscrapers, near Ginza District, the improbable Turkish-style mosque near Yoyogi-Shibuya Metro, observatories fabulous Shinjuku Town Hall, Shinjuku Subway, and Yokohama Station 35 minutes from Tokyo by JR train. Take the opportunity to discover the city of Kamakura, 50 kilometers from Tokyo, Yokohama being halfway to discover the spectacular Buddha "outdoor" but also the incredible number of Shinto temples AND other Buddhist sanctuaries of this small city seaside ancient cultural and spiritual capital of medieval Japan. body
I think this project is feasible with a little organization beforehand and according to the chosen destination!
These are the points I would make before leaving:

1. Choose your destination, establish a route and prospect on volunteering, local associations, woofing, NGOs.
This allows to consider places for the stages of the trip that are more established. That is to say on a few days or weeks, one is registered in a local action with a framework or a structure of reception. Indeed, for services rendered voluntarily, one can be housed and fed. Thus it allows to discover the local culture and to meet the local populations.

2. For places of "passage" to think of couchsurfing, in order to be able to find accommodations and receptions safe and benevolent. Maybe also go to groups in social networks to find "good plans".

3. Learn about networks such as greeters to meet locals and create links locally. This is an initiative where meetings and visits are completely free and will always be free.

4. Communicate!
An essential aspect in a trip like this is the network!
I think it is very important to talk to his family and his entourage about such a project. And then, with a butterfly effect, friends of friends, certainly have contacts towards your choice of destination.

These are, it seems to me, basic points to develop this type of trip. However I also invite you to read, because a good number of travelers have already realized this type of adventure.

body
I discovered a few days ago that I am afraid of failure. An unconscious fear that goes back a long way ...I did not know it, because my life does not at all testify to the existence of this fear. Yet now that I have put my finger on it, it is obvious. And looking at the past, I see the subtle but impactful effects on my life path. Not really positive effects ...I'm taking care of it. It will take a little time. This is good news because without this fear, the future can only be radiant!
