| body | World War III is civilizations worst nightmare. Why, after two world wars over the course of three decades, has one not yet started? Is one about to? Technologically, militarily, and otherwise has erupted to such a degree that the right circumstances could spell a quick and certain end to the world as we know it, and a reset of most, if not all, of our cultural progress. I wish I could say this was some fiction of propaganda, as I will find myself repeating in this series over and over but that does not seem to be the case. The realities of nuclear weapons create a scenario that is easy to understand, if not hard to accept. Hydrogen bombs and nuclear energy, in general, are highly delicate and leave a near-indelible mark on our land, air, and water. With the number of nuclear-armed nations having risen to 6, it is easy to imagine a circumstance where one willful act sets off a chain reaction which would have intended and unintended consequences, changing the circumstances of the globe itself. The implications of hypotheticals are endless, but what are the objective facts that keep us out of a world war today? There have been two World Wars so far. They are roughly defined by involving either many of the world countries or the most populous ones, but this is itself a semantic explanation for where the phrase comes from and it originates from the free press and the impression both World Wars left on collective culture. World War hardly has a specific definition but no one would argue World War I or II do not deserve their names. What many tend to forget is that in a simpler time world war I was called "The War to End All Wars" and World War II was an impossibility, in itself, because supposedly humanity would learn its lesson. Ironically, the first objective link we can discuss between the World Wars is that many of the instigators of the second were specifically the nations that, apparently, had a front-row seat for the lessons of the first. Austria, Britain, France, Germany, and Russia; these countries or nations were major players in how global conflict grew and compounded, to such a degree to have left such a lasting legacy on modern culture. Austria started World War I due to their historic and cultural tendency for imperialism and their kinship with Germany, which seems to have almost forced their general public into both international conflicts before that soon spiraled into World Wars. The British, in attempts to control Europe, seem inevitably to claim neutrality, an alignment with international stability, and of course, simultaneously pick a side in a growing international conflict. France performs similarly and both times, along with Britain, feigning neutrality while seeing war as almost a definite inevitability, due to what it considers international obligations, seeing the defense of its people and borders as secondary. Germany seems to take its place in the European community for granted while simultaneously, ignoring it exists or seemingly believing it will do nothing. Russia, in the case of both World Wars, has had all of Germany's problems squared. A short look at the history of Eastern Europe and nihilism is but a stone's throw away. You are likely asking yourself how this applies today. Well, all these nations can be summed up as the EU, Great Britain, and Russia today, and almost comically, the same schism between the Germans and Slavs (Eastern and far Eastern Europe) still causes political and sociological turmoil and leads many to believe a World War is right around the corner. However, war in Eastern Europe between Russia and whoever may apply has already erupted in Syria and Ukraine. The fact that the United States has become the preeminent martial power in the West and is handling most, if not all, international conflicts seems to have stopped our comparable allies from mobilizing, creating a chain reaction where Russia seeks allies to mobilize and so on. The United States, though seemingly the modern warmonger and chief of nations, fulfills its international political obligations for "defense of its allies", in exchange for the domain of force it provides over more territory and the fact that it remaining the most active Western and largest global military power, at the same time, makes the domino effect of comparable military forces that created the two World Wars impossible. World War II had the lasting effect of making America the first and lastingly dominant nuclear power on earth. Russia is no longer controlled by feudalists or radical socialists, who see full-scale war with the US as a glorious inevitability. Germany, it seems, is focused on managing European affairs through diplomacy and they are having trouble managing their own domestic state which leaves no money, effort, or interest available for imperialism, nearby or abroad. Baring some critical galvanizing event that somehow links different global national consciousness together in support for a war effort, nothing can create a World War scenario within the next ten years or so. The socialists, our old enemies, have ironically chosen trade and state politics as their means of competition with capitalism. Meanwhile, in past circumstances, many of the events in Eastern Europe that have taken place in the past few years would have and did, signal a World War but today, more people have access to a more global spectrum of information. Stories that may have seemed like they were about far-off barbarous nations before, now are clearly about countrysides and nations of people just like us, dealing with their nation states sociopolitical ebb and flow the best they can. The last great event that galvanized the West for war was 9/11, and even with all the loss of innocent life, many were reluctant to sign a blank check to march on foreign soil. If the effects of that day did not lead us to a world war III and our cultural state, since that time, has been learning the lesson; that even with a seemingly invisible and unpredictable enemy, there is such thing as taking up too much investment in defense, then I doubt it is possible for there to be an event more dramatic. All these things considered, they are only part of the equation and the average person is not actually up-to-date on international affairs. The true lesson the silent majority seem to have learned that has staved off World War for so long has been this: -When war is presented as a foregone conclusion and every other option seems, in the context of the current narrative, to be neglecting some great responsibility, the collateral damage of war treated as negligible and compromise treated as undisciplined, absent-minded or nonsensical, one most assume someone has paid good money to sell you a war.- I am sure many possible scenarios have occurred to you, and I have not even begun to scratch the surface of the subject. STAY TUNED FOR PART 2. |

The true lesson the silent majority seem to have learned that has staved off World War for so long has been this:\n-When war is presented as a foregone conclusion and every other option seems, in the context of the current narrative, to be neglecting some great responsibility, the collateral damage of war treated as negligible and compromise treated as undisciplined, absent-minded or nonsensical, one most assume someone has paid good money to sell you a war.-\n\nI am sure many possible scenarios have occurred to you, and I have not even begun to scratch the surface of the subject.\n\nSTAY TUNED FOR PART 2.",

| body | Monday is hell; to avoid this reality is either a feat of unique scheduling or ignorance. Our industrially designed work weeks usually begin on Monday, bringing with it the physical and emotional stress of molding our habits and sleep schedules to what is usually an incredibly inconvenient, emotionally draining slog. ”So what?” You may be asking. Work is work. If you do not tackle it, it tackles you and there is very little that can be done about this state of affairs. My solution to this, in fact, the only solution I have found at all, is to appreciate those little things which have not been robbed from you by circumstance. Regardless of what compromises you have chosen for yourself, the will and ability to appreciate your own life should not be one of them. This is why I have chosen to write a short meditation on shelter. Shelter is probably a fact of life for most of us reading. We live, rest, and likely work in, and for, many physical shelters everyday. How many of us actually perceive the convenience of this on a daily basis? It is easy to forget the convenience of our situation when so many of us wish to change it. For many of us, the shelters we find ourselves in become only shadows of our tethers to obligation and responsibility. We work every day it seems, to support our shelter, sometimes harder and more deliberately than before and often our living conditions just stay the same. So why appreciate something so integral to conventional responsibility? The point seems almost redundant considering even those without shelter are expected to know it's value. The reason however cyclical and self-evident it may seem is that shelter is not automatically granted and many of us are born or find themselves without shelter or have entirely different perspectives of what a shelter consists of. What is granted for you whether due to the conditions of your birth or your work ethic are not actually most common denominator factors in everyone's lives. Your preferences as an individual are molded by your circumstances, experiences, and character. Every time you inhale the smell of coffee and smile regardless of how common this occurrence is it represents a miracle in the realm of probability. When you find yourself in a place of resentment for your shelter, it is good to remember that even this resentment is a luxury provided and defended by your shelter itself. Regardless of the obligations or humility of your living situation, it is what it is, and one can not easily predict the effects of change however inevitable. Remember to thank your shelter, whatever form it takes for it's steadfast patience and reliability in being what it is. What you condescend to today is gone tomorrow. Even Atlas who allegorically holds all our ceilings on his shoulders has an aching back that will one day break. Every wall that defends you breaks the wind and elements with it's very existence so you do not have to. You can continue to take it for granted or trade it for another that more accurately fits your wants and needs. You may feel used and abused in your life and at your work but remember there are patient, silent, and almost invisible forces protecting your every day. Beyond judgement and complaint our world carries it's children in patchwork dress with pride as if to boast before God himself. Love her as she loves you; unconditionally. Remember that no one is able to love her like or for you and remember that no one can return to you the pleasure you reject in your everyday life after it's physical messengers are gone. Thank you as always, for your interest and time. We will be back to talking about socioeconomic soon. For now enjoy your lives and thank you for your companionship. Have a good night. Keep breathing my friends. |

| body | Two Way Sun was recently able to upload "2018 Predictions: The Positive, The Negative & The Remarkable" which was a rundown of many of the social, political and economic phenomena of recent years (namely 2017) and predictions of what is to come in 2018. Unfortunately, something seems to have slipped under our nose for years and we were lucky to discover it in time before it explodes. What we have found is a little known social networking website called Steemit and its spunky sidekick Dtube a decentralized Youtube competitor. You are likely thinking we have seen Facebook and Youtube competitors before. The sheer quantity over quality aspects of these industry leaders has made them almost untouchable. The only thing that could possibly compete is something that completely avoids a direct competition by promising such quality that it is unheard of in social media and video sharing sites. Why should these be different? The answer sounds underwhelming unless the brilliance is explained to you and if you have not heard of Steemit, this is probably one factor as to why. Steemit rewards all participants with a cryptocurrency called Steem Dollars that are easily redeemed for real dollars. Simply posting, liking and sharing on these sites will mean you are entitled to a share of the blockchain that makes up the site and some currency. This is much more brilliant than one might quickly understand. Let us examine the industries and their individual problems and how they are handled by Steemit: 1: Social Media: If you are already doing something productive with your time, effort can be applied to use these sites productively and positively. However for the average person these sites exist purely for the sake of entertainment and represent a significant waste of time and memory. 2. Video Sharing: For the average person, video sharing sites are at best a fun diversion. However, if you are a creator, you need a significant audience before you start getting paid and if you speak about anything of political or social significance you may be demonetized for the sake of political correctness. 3. Cryptocurrency: Unregulated though it may be, it is still just a fiat currency. It has no value outside of the supply and demand of an idea, which is literally unpredictable in its best case scenario and could potentially flop entirely if invalidated by something else. Lastly, you need money or hardware to invest in cryptocurrency. There is the equivalent of penny stocks but considering how erratic it has been lately I am not sure anyone questioning their financial situation should invest now. How can all these issues be handled by Steemit? Here are some explanations: 1. Your social media activities which usually have no productive effect whatsoever are now essentially internet real estate claims. 2. Every video on Dtube is incentivized to be valuable. That means everything you watch will likely be held to a high quality even while you are rewarded in cryptocurrency for your interactions. 3. Unlike most other cryptocurrencies, Steem dollars are not purely fiat because they actually represent work, interest and a personal share in Steemit and Dtube itself. You are treated as a shareholder rather than an employee and the instability of fiat is almost completely nullified. Steemit was started in 2016 and participation is still free. I for one will take advantage of this opportunity and hope Steemit and Dtube represents a new even more interactive media world. It won't be easy to tear people away from the giants like Youtube and Facebook but if you remember what happened with Myspace you will know... If enough influential people move on. no one will have to. | body | Two Way Sun was recently able to upload "2018 Predictions: The Positive, The Negative & The Remarkable" which was a rundown of many of the social, political and economic phenomena of recent years (namely 2017) and predictions of what is to come in 2018. If enough influential people move on. no one will have to. | body | 2018 will inevitably be a banner year of change. These changes will affect how people around the world live and think and the beginnings of this process are already visible and so, the results are perhaps somewhat predictable. Here is a short rundown of the good, the bad, and the remarkable things that may change this year on a large socio-economic scale. The Good: Every inefficiency in the realm of big business is being eliminated. This will have its largest visible effect on how we live in the actual towns and cities we call home. Small businesses which prioritize quality products and services as well as community oriented method are highly likely to experience an upswing. Eurasia seems to be illustrating this on a giant scale as the Chinese Government (PRC) has decided to rebuild the silk road connecting China and 68 other nations by a highway. New fuels are being developed with much more capacity and effective computerized machines are being developed to do taxing and dangerous jobs in the near future. For those people living off or nearby, these innovations will experience a particular growth in quality of life and likely with that living standards. Cooperative people will flock to these communities to avoid all the established division. For those disconnected, digital technology continues to innovate trade and education which are making investment easier hopefully giving many people more control of their lives. Cryptocurrencies will continue to rise gradually with the new market and promise to be a reliable short-term investment opportunity with predictable booms and busts. Millennials are coming of age to affect the political spectrum in a big way. They are now the biggest voting demographic around the world and the resounding message on their part seems to be that they do not feel represented by any of the major parties or governments and we are heading in the wrong direction. What is predicted by many is that this will develop a new party that most closely represents the libertarian vision of free domestic grassroots markets and de-emphasis on war. This will also probably come with some adaptions from the democratic party or European democratic socialists in matters of the social safety net. This would revitalize politics and culture by more accurately illustrating people's wants and beliefs and where they disagree. Bad: Since large companies of all industries are merging and as mentioned before the wheat is being separated from the chaff in that realm people who rely on goods, services and jobs from these companies that may be showing signs of inefficiency or a lack of care might find themselves losing their connection to some vital resource or even their very own jobs. Groups that are too large and insufficiently oriented will crumble, be consumed or most likely both. Self-driving domestic cars will likely be a bust though billions have been invested in the idea and a fuel effective electric car does not seem right around the corner. Those left out of the innovative, cooperative upswing mentioned before will see their education opportunities continue to crumble and large corporate goods, services and media continue to degrade. With war seemingly inevitable between Iran, Yemen, Russia and the West (though the majority on earth seems against it) many people around the world will likely see their currencies plummet in value even more and many in the Middle East will see their lives destabilized in a very dangerous way by some event or war. All this has the potential to kill entire towns that are not adequately socioeconomically stable and for many people through no fault of their own, this may mean having to change their jobs, lifestyles or move altogether. Politically, since both parties are seemingly defunct and the sociopolitical paradigm is changing, standard currencies and all digital currencies to a degree will crash and what value is not lost in property is likely to skyrocket. Many of the old methods and perhaps even the old goals of the political status quo will likely be stripped away. Many people have dedicated their lives to these political and social initiatives and the prospect that the entire political stage as we know it is still changing drastically could quickly invalidate all of them. This can be disheartening. However, if there is a problem that needs to be solved or a goal that needs to be reached then our advice is to keep at it and use the new playing field to reassert why and ideally how. Remarkable: Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple ... etc) privately regulated and monitored through Blockchain technology has provided an opportunity for people to invest in a market far separated to the centrally regulated federal markets they are used to. These currencies, as a rule, are digital but are regulated to a certain amount that can be infinitely divided and traded between private owners. A fiat currency without government regulation or inflation caused by printing represents an asset with economic value that rises and falls based on peoples demands of it. Though that is true of every asset economically these currencies with such little government regulation promise regular booms and busts, and the insurance that if inflation of the dollar and euro and so on continue they will grow more securely valuable every passing moment. A separate economic system that is self-regulated and based on fiat in effect already represents a new sociopolitical order that will hopefully serve the needs of the coming years. This promises to be a landmark year of change that will define how the new millennium continues. Don't get swept up in the storm. Let's ride the waves together to calmer seas.
