Apparently, it is a subsidiary of Facebook Inc. headquatered in Mountain view, California, USA. An interesting fact,it has employed only 50 people majority of whom are engineers.\n\nBasically, whatsapp is a free piece of cross-platform software. It provides real-time messaging service to the users through it’s end-to-end encryption system. It’s majority users are smartphone users, though through “Whatsapp Web” it can also be used on PCs by scanning a QR code.\n\nBusiness Model:\n\nIt used to have a subscription fees of $1 per year which really few people paid(lol!) and for the rest of the mass, it auto-renewed itself at the end of the first year (No idea how and why, lol again!). This was called Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). Just imagine how the situation might have been if whatsapp actaully was paid! With a billion “addicted” user base it is having the potential to earn Billions of dollars for Facebook Inc. if it started dispalying ads or pop-ups like WeChat.\n\nToday the business plan of the company is, well none! It is just another messaging unit owned by facebook inc. which does not earn any money for it.\n\nRevenue Model:\n\nThere are two theories about business model of whatsapp.\n\nFirst:\n\nAs stated on whatsapp’s official blog that it is absolutely free and charges nothing and this is indeed true. But this raises the question that why will facebook pay $19 billion for buying it if it is not generating any income. The answer is ofcourse given by the second theory and it seems pretty true too.\n\nSecond:\n\nThe straight, sweet and simple answer is Data Mining. Basically, bigdata implies to large amount of data which can be both structured or unstructured which is analyzed for statistics and usually predicts the behavior of users on internet.\n\nPeople generate huge amounts of data on a daily basis. The data includes our shopping searches, our surfing history, interests and what not. When we type any message in whatsapp, the messages pass through the whatsapp server and then to the user. The server analyse the data based on the words used. Big companies pay huge amounts of money for this type of data in order to optimize marketing and advertising campaigns. Though the introduction of end-to-end encryption to whatsapp seems to make data mining really tough.\n\nThat’s why whatsapp never charged us a penny and that’s why facebook was ready to invest big sum of money in this venture.\n\nNow the time is for you to decide that whether they are saying the truth and not breaching our privacy or are they selling our private data to large business firms.",

At Jack’s Camp in Botswana, I got to hang out with these little cuties! As a tourist, I am very cautious about human interaction with wild animals. These animals are completely wild— as they should be— but have been habituated, meaning their behavior is not affected by the presence of humans. They have come to see us as part of their normal habitat— not as a threat. While you should never touch them, they might not respect the same of you lol! I was the “single” friend.\n\nFor years before meeting Meyer, I would have people feel genuinely sorry for me when they found out I didn’t have a boyfriend.\n\nI could have just spent an hour talking about the success of my business, having traveled to over 50 countries on my own, displaying self-confidence and wisdom beyond my years— but the second I said I was single, I instantly became a crazy cat lady, loudly displaying a countdown timer to infertility.\n\nThe conversation would literally go from “WOW! You’ve done so much at such a young age!” to “You better lock it down before you’re too old to have kids.” (*insert a real LOL here*) I spent my 20s seeing the world, learning about what I truly wanted out of life, growing a business and selfishly focusing on becoming an awesome human.\n\nSome people meet their soul mates in their teens, and others might find love where they least expect it. There is no “how-to” guide for life OR love. So, don’t compare your life to others— especially on Instagram.\n\nLove yourself first. Accept yourself. Truly. Flaws and all. It’s one of the most cliche things to say on a day like today. But, self-love isn’t important. It’s necessary.\n\nBelieve in yourself and do what you want in life. Appreciate the journey. Surround yourself with friends, family, and people that bring out the best in you. THAT is the true secret to happiness.",
