I did not expect ants in my vehicle. At the same time, an ant bit the back of my neck.\n  \nAt first, I thought my brain was playing tricks on me. But no, these were real ants. They are also attracted to odorous substances that are released on the skin of mammals, humans inclusive.\n\nAn expert in pest control recommends putting ant traps in the vehicle, especially along wires and in crevices, where ants usually frequent. Also, park your car far away from vegetation, where ants make trails.\n\nI park my car under a car shed in the yard overnight, which is near a flower garden. Nevertheless, he wanted no one near his roses. He was determined to interview the beetles.\n\nCaleb researched insect communication every evening after school. He was determined to develop an App to decipher the beetle’s language. \n\nCaleb discovered that beetles communicate with other beetles via sounds, vibrations, and chemicals. They make noises by rubbing their legs on their bodies or scraping their mouth parts together.\n\nAfter eight months, the App was ready. You can go ahead and murder me, but we will not go out of your garden.”\n\nCaleb picked up a stone and hauled it at the beetle, crashing it. He regretted his cruelty against animals and prayed to his god for forgiveness. He realized that beetles don’t understand life and death. It is a local dish commonly known as Romazava, considered a delicacy in Madagascar.\n\nA wingless spider came floating in the air and landed on my wife’s plate. She jumped to her feet and said: “John, a spider!”\n\n“This particular one is not poisonous,” I assured her, trying to calm her down. “It is called a Linyphiid spider. Come and sit down and finish your lunch.”\n\nShe shook her head, picked up a nearby chair and sat a few meters away. I was eager to find out where the spider came from, given that we were at sea, hundreds of miles from land. I picked up the spider with a napkin and covered it under a bowel.\n\n“What are you trying to do?” asked Jane.\n\n“I am getting my portable thermocycler to check where the spider originated,” John said.\n\nHe walked down the stairs and disappeared from view. He came back with a small box measuring one foot on all sides and unpacked the thermocycler. Its size was about ½-foot in length, width, and height. It quickly checks an insect's DNA, checks the results against web-based database and tells its origin. \n\nJohn opened a side compartment, placed in the spider, closed the cover and flipped on the switch. The machine made a buzzing sound for about 30 seconds stopped. John opened a sliding door on top of the device to read results from a screen.\n\n“My goodness, the bastard is from Harare, Zimbambe,” John exclaimed.\n \n“What? The area is popular with criminals because places for police to hide are minimal. The police have tried night patrols, with limited success.  The crime gang concentrates in areas without a camera surveillance system.\n\nThe police stations nine snake robots on side streets, notorious for street crime.  The robots are equipped with a video camera, GPS, a massaging system and an alarm in case an unauthorized person tries to seize it. \n \nA robot has 13 segments. It can take independent decisions, squeeze in narrow crevices, make quick maneuvers, stay motionless, move silently, and stand on its rear parts to record videos and take pictures. \n\nPolice officers decide to transport the robots in handbags and station them in strategic places on the side of streets at around 8.00pm in the evening and pick them up at 6.00am in the morning daily for two weeks.\n\nOn the third day of deployment, one of the robots sends this message to police: \"Woman kidnapped, President Road, two blocks off 570 Prospect St.”\n\nThe policeman on duty sees a man holding terrified woman from behind with a knife to her throat on the giant video screen and alerts his superiors.\n   \n“Keep silent,\" said the man in a low, threatening, croaky voice. \"Any movement and I will cut your throat.” \n\n“Please don’t kill me,” the woman begged.\n\nImmediately after that, a car pulls up beside them, and the driver jumps out, leaving the front door open.  The kidnappers gag, handcuff and blindfold the victim. She struggles briefly before the attacker forces her into the back seat, helped by the driver. The robot stands on its rear segments and starts filming the entry, compound, and sounds, ready to hind when someone approached. The police arrive ten minutes later and storm the compound.  They recover the snake robot and arrest the suspects.\n\nThe police arrest a total of 8 gang members and recover a wide variety of stolen items.       "body": "There is an endless list of tasks waiting for you. Your life seems like water in a basin—your sick parent needs attention, you have to move to a new location, find new customers, make new friends, and face new challenges. You are angry with yourself because you don’t finish what you start. Moreover, you bought a new laptop, which you feel you don't need. I feel as if life is controlling me. Life can be hectic these days. The only sure thing is change, which forces adjustments we don’t like. You make a budget, but you fail to stick to it. You feel pressed left, light and center. Do you sometimes feel that way? If so how can you enjoy life in this chaotic world?\n\nWillie Nelson said: \"I live one day at a time, one day at a time. Yesterday's gone and tomorrow is blind, so I live one day at a time.”  For me, I concentrate on what is on hand. I don’t try to enjoy the day, but what I am doing right now. Yes, I enjoy life as it comes. Right now I am enjoying striking the keys on my laptop. \n\nTrue I plan, and budget but I try not to be anxious about the next hour. An earthquake, a gunman, a tsunami, a terrorist attack can spoil things in no time. Fortunately, bad guys are not on the rampage every day, at least not in the same location. Who knows? Life is unpredictable. So I enjoy living in the moment, I don’t know what will happen next! \n    \nForget the digital world for a while. Think and ponder about what you are touching right now. Is it smooth or rough? Look at things and appreciate their beauty. When you eat, do not chew and swallow your food in haste. Hold it a little bit longer in the mouth. Is it a glass of wine that you are sipping? Try to move it around in your mouth and feel the taste. Listen to the different sounds around you and pick out a particular one you like. Is it rhythmic or changing all the time?\n\nIf you implement the above tips life will be more fun amid the daily chaos. The stress, the change, and the pain will not go away, but life will become more meaningful, pleasurable and less stressful. You will begin to appreciate things that you have not given much attention before. You will understand the touch of your loved one, the taste of your favorite drink, and the flowers in the garden outside your office. Do the above everyday and life will be more enjoyable.",

      "body": "You are embarrassed and depressed. You do not know what to do. Your man seemed to be a perfect catch. But of late he has changed. You can no longer stand the rage, hurtful speech, and the barrage of verbal criticism. It all started slowly, like a car in low gear. He started belittling you and using biting sarcasm. You thought he was teasing you, but you were wrong. I know men and women who endured abusive partners when dating. It is normal for two people to disagree with each other once in a while. There is no perfect partner. You should expect your partner to criticize some lousy trait in you that irritates him or her. But I am not talking about such occurrences. I am talking about scolding, yelling, shoving and in some cases punching. Such behavior is unacceptable when it comes from a prospective marriage mate. \n\nYou may fill that you are the one to blame because you don't measure up to his expectations. But nine times out ten his behavior has nothing to do with you. It may be that he comes from a culture where men dominate women or where violence and abusive speech was the norm. Sometimes low self-esteem may force people to be assertive. Whatever the reason you are not responsible for someone’s bad behavior. Real men and women respect others.\n\nBut there is something else to consider. Some women who grew up in a violent atmosphere can be unconcerned about aggressive behavior and may even love men who are rough with them. They tolerate an abusive partner because that is what they have grown up seeing. Such women may hate men who are gentle. Others stay in an abusive relationship hoping that their partner would abandon their behavior in the future.  Thirdly, some women feel so low that they cannot imagine getting someone better after they quit the current relationship.\n\nSometimes romantic feelings become so intense that they overshadow reason. One day an acquaintance intimated: “He yells at me, but I still love him.” Remember that what happens in a relationship is a foretaste of what life will be if you commit yourself to stay in a tie for the long haul. If you currently feel abused or demeaned, know that something is not right. Do not let your feelings overshadow good judgment. The best thing you can do for yourself is to dump your boyfriend and look for one who is deserving of your love. \n\nYou can avoid much heartache and disappointment by refusing to get romantically involved with a complete stranger. Keep your feelings at bay until you know him better. In any case, I cannot stand habitual abusive behavior. It is a red line I cannot cross. It is time to quit.",
