| title | Schedule update & additional notes for Hive/Ko-Fi/Subscribestar/Steem |
| body | Okay folks, new update. This week has been pretty rough for me for various reasons, so I've decided that I'll not be doing any videos until the proper start next week, as my energy will instead be put into a successful proper relaunch! I've updated the times to reflect the new schedule which was announced earlier this week! I'll be also taking steps to make things easier for me moving forward, but this will take more time to fully sort out, especially due to current & future circumstances! With regards to updates on Hive/Ko-Fi/Subscribestar, I've really only been able to consistently update via Mastodon/Twitter, as they're the easiest to update, and even my presence on Mind has suffered as a result. I'm going to need time to get a system sorted because things have not been going as smoothly as I'd hoped I am going to try and do "week start" and "week end" for everywhere, especially places where there is no schedule, such as Ko-Fi and also Steem, which I've put at the back of my mind completely as of late. Things will get streamlined, but I feel like it'll take time. Hopefully, I can get stuff mostly sorted by the end of September, which is technically my "get the ball rolling properly" month in time for October, which is when the fun (in many ways) truly begins! Anyway, expect things to (hopefully have) a higher hit rate in terms of published videos, but I'm going to update the calendar now to say that October is when things properly take off! Coincidentally, you can consult the calendar here: https://teamup.com/ks6rfzrou7f8bvajqy. Updates will always be made to the calendar first, so check back to ensure that you are up to date with any schedule revisions, as well as also checking the hourly window (now including Odysee) when videos will be publish, first on YouTube, then Odysee about an hour later! |

I'll be also taking steps to make things easier for me moving forward, but this will take more time to fully sort out, especially due to current & future circumstances!\n\nWith regards to updates on Hive/Ko-Fi/Subscribestar, I've really only been able to consistently update via Mastodon/Twitter, as they're the easiest to update, and even my presence on Mind has suffered as a result. I'm going to need time to get a system sorted because things have not been going as smoothly as I'd hoped I am going to try and do \"week start\" and \"week end\" for everywhere, especially places where there is no schedule, such as Ko-Fi and also Steem, which I've put at the back of my mind completely as of late. Things will get streamlined, but I feel like it'll take time. Hopefully, I can get stuff mostly sorted by the end of September, which is technically my \"get the ball rolling properly\" month in time for October, which is when the fun (in many ways) truly begins!\n\nAnyway, expect things to (hopefully have) a higher hit rate in terms of published videos, but I'm going to update the calendar now to say that October is when things properly take off! Coincidentally, you can consult the calendar here: https://teamup.com/ks6rfzrou7f8bvajqy. Updates will always be made to the calendar first, so check back to ensure that you are up to date with any schedule revisions, as well as also checking the hourly window (now including Odysee) when videos will be publish, first on YouTube, then Odysee about an hour later!",

| title | Update on Ko-fi |
| body | Okay, so I’ve just made an official announcement that I’ll no longer be updating on Ko-fi for the foreseeable future, unless there’s enough requests to do so. Granted, I’ve hardly updated on it as of late, but I just thought I’d make it official. SubscribeStar will be the place where I exclusively do a Patreon-style things, mainly because of the scheduling ability, and it also integrates more with certain platforms! In any case, I’m trying to reduce the amount of places I need to keep up to date, although it’s possible that I’ll also move away from here, depending on if I can find a more suitable platform or not to work with, as scheduling is an important thing for me. I’ll need to give it some thought though, given I want to reduce the amount of work I need to do; I may even just use a WP plugin for tips and work out some other sort of subscription service for GU/PU, and also SM/DK as well, if I can find a way to feasibly combine them together in way to reduce spreading myself thin. I will probably withdraw announcing videos on SubscribeStar from the 30th IsaacStorm episode, mainly because I already announce them on other social media outlets, and I want to start reserving this page for more importand announcements and also supporter-exclusive videos or “early looks” of certain videos, but I need to do some thinking. In any case, lightening my workload would be a good idea for a variety of reasons! I’m going to call it here though, as I need to get on with things, so see you all later on! |

| body | Okay, so I'm going to be a bit erratic with uploading IsaacStorm videos this month, due to essentially trying to rearrange stuff to work more efficiently. I'm looking at maybe doing some unboxings of stuff I get in the post from around September, which is a couple of months away, I know, but I need time to get everything set up! Going back to the videos though, I'm going to pretty much aim for the nearest regular slot I'm able to aim for, rather than saying when or if a video will be uploaded because I don't have as much energy as I'd like to record at present, so I'll probably end up doing something a bit intermittent for this month, possibly next depending on how things go. This also means that I'm going to hold off on doing daily Isaac videos till at least February/March, whilst I work on a schedule incorporating a second game too, which I'll need to work out how I'm going to go about doing it. I'm still thinking of doing Dungeon Hack, although it's likely that I'll have to do the game without music, and just suggest that you choose your own music to play with it, as I'm realising I'll drive myself nuts if I end up trying to find the perfect music to go with the game, plus it means you have a choice of accompanying music from your end! Anyway, expect that IsaacStorm videos will be going up, but do keep an eye on the usual outlets at around midnight on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday; if there isn't anything up by that time, assume that this time it's been a miss! I'm giving this heads-up now in order for me to save energy up for doing future videos and schedules, plus there are only so many times I can say the same thing. At least by setting the expectations of adhering to the normally scheduled time slots in some fashion means that you have a better idea of how things are going, as eventually, I'll be back to normal posting, but right now, I just want to try to get my PC transfer/upgrades done, as well as bringing my server properly into the fold, along with my workstation, as this will help me streamline things down the line. additionally, I'll be getting a connection upgrade sometime this month, so that may result in some downtime for a short period, but I will be getting a slightly faster upload speed; in addition to the upgrade from 15 Meg to 30 Meg, I'll be getting an upgrade to 40m Meg due to a connection upgrade, as well as getting 5 additional IP addresses, which will allow me to do some interesting things down the line! Anyway, I do hope to be getting back to my regular schedule eventually, but in the meantime, I'm going to try to aim for at least one video a week minimum, though I'm not sure if it should be on a specific day, or whatever day I can manage. I do also need to start being a little less strict with my requirements for videos too, because I can't keep on doing the haphazard approach I have been doing in the past and discarding a lot of videos, seeing as I end up spending hours on something and having nothing to show for it! I am going to aim for a minimum of 35 minutes per video, and ignore the maximum time it takes for a run or series of runs as I feel like worrying about that probably has an effect on my performance somewhat too! I do have other things planned down the line, most notably with 'Storm's Lab' and 'Storm's Workshop', but nothing I can really reveal till I've sorted out enough space for things, especially as I'm not sure myself what's going to happen with it, but I do hope to do some things with 3D printing, most notably setting up Octoprint with a mini 3D printer and setting a webcam on it to allow people to watch the print happening (in theory at least). I do also want to start streaming me repairing/cleaning/refurbing/etc various bits of hardware too, but that might take a little while longer, as I need to work out a camera setup, as well as making sure I protect my table and can facilitate a decent streaming setup somehow as well. Anyway, I'm going to stop it here for now, as I need to go and think about what needs to be done to make things easier and more efficient for me moving forward. I do also want to pick up my copies of Savage and Railroad Tycoon II Gold Edition from storage as well, so I can put them in the Linux box. I do also have plans for my Pentium MMX project, now I can almost get a preliminary trial to build going with that, plus I want to also start sorting out storage for it and the retro laptops I have to work on eventually; I have the 4 enclosures I need now, so I can replace the HDDs with SSDs eventually, although I do want to research other upgrades such as RAM, the CPUs, and GPUs, as well as making sure I have everything I need to clean everything! I do have many plans that are almost ready to go, but they need space to be worked on, let alone filmed, so that's something else I'll be working on too! In any case, I know that it's probably a bit disappointing to have me not release any videos after almost 2 weeks, but at least you have something consistent to work from, plus I'm going to give once a week (not this week) posting a go. In the meantime though, I'll try to keep you all updated on any major developments. Until next time, take care and see you all later on. |

| title | Update on PC upgrade/swap, and a couple of other things |
| body | The network enclosure that I ordered has been received, and it looks pretty much brand new... the box has seen better days though, and I don't yet have any drives, but it's a good start to my new setup. I'm going to be doing a couple of "easy" PC upgrades too, maxing out the RAM of the board, and replacing the wireless card, because if nothing else, that at least helps me achieve something along the way to upgrading the PC; the CPU replacement can happen later when I have to take the PC out of its case and swap it over. I'm delaying the swap till July, because Microsoft has an announcement regarding Windows, plus I think Linux Mint 20.2 may be out by the time I plan to perform the swapover too! Additionally, I've ordered a bunch more spools of PLA 3D printer filament, though I'm currently unable to use it, due to my full-size 3D printer having no space, though I've gotten it at a discount, so it was best to stock up on some colours whilst it was cheap, rather than getting it when I needed it at full price! Additionally, there's a power cut in my area, though my flat currently isn't affected, but other things might be! I feel sorry for the Amazon delivery guy who I spoke to just now (who delivered my stuff) having to go all the way up the stairs to the 10th floor, as that sounds exhausting, especially in this heat! Either way, things are gradually going to plan. #computers #computer-upgrades #stormkeepergu #newsandupdates #3dprinting |

| title | PC upgrade update and other stuff; lower activity for 2 weeks |
| body | Well, I can finally feel like I've become a little more professional with my LP channel... I seem to be improving a bit with Isaac, especially as over the last few days, I've unlocked about 10 new achievements! Additionally, I've started making better use of the End Screen on a YouTube video, which also makes things a little more consistent and accessible. I've also been starting my backup/transfer process for moving my PC to a new case, and having fresh installs as well, seeing as the major things I need to really do is make sure I can more easily access files/folders on my current main drive, as well as making sure passwords and/or recovery keys/phrases are in a safe place too so I can move stuff over relatively easy, and continue where I left off. I also want to configure and deploy Stratus (my "admin" mini PC) so I'm able to more efficiently do my content creation stuff, which probably means that I need to consider NAS deployment in the future, as I can just export the videos I record to the drive, and then Stratus can pick them up from there and upload stuff! I have also managed to make things a bit faster as well regarding tagging in YouTube and WordPress, as I've learnt how to properly use commas in that section. Yes, I'm quite sure someone knew this already, but for me, it's a revelation, and also saves me a lot more time in the process, especially for bulk uploads. On that note, coincidentally, I have 4 videos all uploaded and ready to be published at their respective times, from midnight tomorrow (Wednesday) to midnight Wednesday next week, which frees me up to do the PC case move, upgrades and reinstalls, because I think with all the preparation I need to sort through, it'll take me around a week to get properly redeployed! this also means that for a period of a few days up to a week, I'll be less active on social media, disregarding the automated posts, although I will also be still somewhat active on Twitter. In any case, I'm hoping that the replacement CPU and network card - as well as clearing off the dust - will make my rig run at least a little better, and hopefully, it'll mean I have more access to games in the process. One more thing I've been considering doing is using 16GB of the RAM meant for my newer same gen build, bringing it up to 32GB, as I've now decided I'm better off building new. Granted, there is the issue of the GPU shortage, but that at least means I can pace myself with getting parts, as well as having the time to make some space to film things in my living room! Coincidentally, when my current rig is put into its new case, it'll be called 'Raiden', whereas the new build will be called 'Thor', as it makes sense to name them on the network now, given that I'm trying to give a more professional and organised setup. You might have noticed a theme with those names, and if you have, then I'll be naming my desktop and "main" PCs that way in the future, though I expect names to get recycled in the future, as in "Thor II", "Raiden IV", etc. In any case, the entire setup will take a while to fully deploy, so I expect to see the setup being used incrementally, mainly with Raiden and Stratus being used, and eventually, Cloudburst (my first mini PC) being deployed for certain tasks that don't need a strong CPU; I'm also going to take out the 16GB SODIMM I bought initially for it and put it either in my Dell laptop, or a gaming laptop I want to buy, seeing as I'm at the point where I need to have something that I can use to do streaming, Let's Plays, videos, etc. when I'm travelling (especially when I'm in Ireland), seeing as I'd literally have to stop operations for 2 weeks whenever I went to Ireland, as whilst my Dell laptop is useful to have with me, it's not good enough to do much beyond admin work, coding, and some light gaming! Either way, I definitely can't wait to get the new hardware deployed, as well as starting to use Stratus (after some configuration), seeing as it would likely make my workflow better than it is now, and it means I won't be affected by main PC getting slowed down, which is pretty big in itself! I also have a HDMI capture device, which will allow me to record the inputs from my HDMI switcher, which will be handy if I want to record footage from certain devices that are small enough to work with my desktop setup, as I could pipe the feed through OBS for the purposes of recording or streaming, though that still needs to be planned out, as it does add more wires! In any case, I do have a lot to be getting on with, so I may end up recording a couple more IsaacStorm videos to carry me through after Wednesday next week, so whilst the PC move is on my mind, it'll be happening after I feel like my important information is saved, or made accessible from the main drive, before it gets formatted and used in my Dell laptop, although I may also buy an SSHD for Stratus, given the max 2.5in drive it can take is 2TB, and I'm sure the slight speed boost will be useful, especially with the boot drive being on an m.2 SSD! I'm not sure about the storage for Cloudburst or Nimbus yet, but that's a thing I can think about later. Either way, I need to start planning stuff out, so I'm going to call it here. I'll be available on Twitter throughout the duration of the process, and may pop up elsewhere using my mobile or tablet so I'm not going into complete radio silence; I will however likely be less active than usual, as I need to focus my energy into finally getting this PC upgrade done! I'll provide updates when I'm able to, and hopefully, the next update will be me getting settled back into things, though I suspect that a total of 2 weeks will be pretty accurate in terms of me getting fully settled in, though I will be installing Isaac, Dungeon Hack, and Project Zomboid as a priority, as well as OBS, but I need to sort through my settings there too. But yeah, that's the current state of things... I'm going to try to spend a couple more days getting things ready before I finally move stuff over, and hopefully it'll be relatively smooth sailing! See you all later on. |

| title | Some Important updates for the next couple of weeks |
| body | So, it's time for me to do some important updates, which will be going out on every platform, just so as many people are aware of what is going on over the next week or two. First of all, my first COVID jab has been booked for tomorrow afternoon, meaning that I have only today to record some IsaacStorm episodes for the week and possibly part of next! I am feeling much better right now, so it might be a good time to record! Secondly, I'm delaying my second game - which I've decided will be *[Dungeon Hack](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_Hack)* - to start in July instead, on the 5th. This has nothing to do with the jab I'm having tomorrow, but even then, it would have been a good idea to delay the start by a week at least! I have updated the [schedule](https://teamup.com/ks6rfzrou7f8bvajqy) accordingly to take this change into account. I have also removed the IsaacStorm episodes that weren't uploaded since the 12th, and have changed the entire schedule to also reflect the correct(ish - because they may be later than that, though updates will be given on social media) time that episodes were being uploaded at, that being midnight the following day; i.e.: Tuesday at 23:00 is now Wednesday at 00:00. I plan to eventually do *IsaacStorm* videos 6x a week, all of them being at midnight, which doesn't stop me from playing Isaac during a stream, but this will mean that videos are going to be shorter now as a result, unless I happen to break a run somehow, but I do need to refine things a bit. This also means that you'll likely see more losses in the future as I would now have to try to allocate 6-7+ hours a week to recording videos, meaning I'm going to need to work out a better recording schedule. However, this will happen after my second game (maybe going into my third), and also after I start streaming, which will need to be set at a strict limit for 3 hours per session! I've yet to work out the Gamed Up Team Stream, but one step at a time. Also, a Dungeon Hack session will generally be done in 30-40 minute segments, seeing as it's easier for me to stop short in that game compared to Isaac, but I do need to be less of a perfectionist before I start doing (almost) daily runs! I also want to do some "first looks" once or twice a week as well, depending on how often I get to do such a thing. I should also note that this essentially is what I'd ideally want to do, as I'm still refining things in practice, plus it depends on what I'm able to do at the time as well, so there will possibly be some inconsistencies with things, to begin with! Keep in mind too that I also have to worry about other Stormhaven Media stuff, as well as any guest appearances I may make as well, so things are going to need to be pretty tightly scheduled, meaning that things are going to have to be shortened in places to help make things work. I'm not sure what I'll be doing in this regard as of yet, but I am going to start working all that stuff out; I will say that IsaacStorm videos will rarely be edited, except for maybe a beginning and end sequence which will apply to all videos. There may be some jump cuts in other games that aren't like Isaac, but that's usually to edit out the more mundane/tedious stuff, like inventory organisation or something that isn't all that interesting to show, but is necessary. I may also choose to do some of that off-record and just explain what I did in order to save a bit of time with recording as well. In any case, I do need to really work on some proper scheduling for what I need to do, in order to make it all work smoothly. Ideally, I would also want to do some branch crossover content to save time as well, but that is something that'll need to be considered later on. Likewise, I can effectively double my content output by converting certain videos into podcasts as well, simply by extracting the audio track, and then converting it to MP3 after editing it a bit, but again, that's a future thing! In any case, I do have a lot of stuff planned, not always GU-related, but it's a case of making everything work together. I eventually will need to think about how I'll be doing recordings on the move too, which will necessitate me getting a gaming laptop, but I'm holding off on that purchase for a bit in order to get a better deal, plus it won't really be till 2022 that this becomes a concern anyway, though realistically, I'll need to see if I can score a deal for something over Xmas or Black Friday. |

\n\nThis also means that you'll likely see more losses in the future as I would now have to try to allocate 6-7+ hours a week to recording videos, meaning I'm going to need to work out a better recording schedule. I also want to do some \"first looks\" once or twice a week as well, depending on how often I get to do such a thing. I should also note that this essentially is what I'd ideally want to do, as I'm still refining things in practice, plus it depends on what I'm able to do at the time as well, so there will possibly be some inconsistencies with things, to begin with!\n\nKeep in mind too that I also have to worry about other Stormhaven Media stuff, as well as any guest appearances I may make as well, so things are going to need to be pretty tightly scheduled, meaning that things are going to have to be shortened in places to help make things work. In any case, I do need to really work on some proper scheduling for what I need to do, in order to make it all work smoothly.\n\nIdeally, I would also want to do some branch crossover content to save time as well, but that is something that'll need to be considered later on. I eventually will need to think about how I'll be doing recordings on the move too, which will necessitate me getting a gaming laptop, but I'm holding off on that purchase for a bit in order to get a better deal, plus it won't really be till 2022 that this becomes a concern anyway, though realistically, I'll need to see if I can score a deal for something over Xmas or Black Friday.",

| title | IsaacStorm updates and more! |
| body | Okay folks, I’m going to use the next couple of days or so to build up a backlog of IsaacStorm videos, in order to get them released on a regular schedule again. I am hoping to get this started from Thursday, but more likely, it’ll be from Saturday, and maybe Tuesday, so look out for further announcements in that regard! However, the extra time I have won’t be wasted, as I plan to use it to refine and redo some stuff relating to future projects, in order for me to be able to get them more ready to go sooner; this notably includes Whatware right now, but I do want to start making some additional progress with my “retro laptop” projects, and also a project involving albums on floppy disk, but that’s a teaser, as I currently have no idea what I want to do regarding that yet! I currently am at the stage where I’m still waiting for a couple more Linux games to arrive in the post, one being Mandrake Linux 8.1 Gaming Edition, and the other being the jewel and boxed copies of Theocracy, one coming from Germany (boxed), the other from Thailand (jewel), though I will say that this game has been tricky to get a hold of, at least for a relatively decent price! I have also been trying to get my hands on Quake III Arena on Linux too, but I unfortunately couldn’t win a bid on eBay! Additionally, I want to try and get the PC (DOS/Win) versions (boxed ideally) of these games too, essentially for comparison, though these will be much easier to get a hold of because they’re much more common, especially as Linux gaming was in its infancy back then, although certain PC games had both versions on the discs, or required a PC version of the game, as it was only an installer that was available. Two games where I likely have to go down this route is Unreal Tournament (need a copy) and Neverwinter Nights (have a copy), and maybe Doom 3, which I have a PC copy of. I do also need to go to my storage unit to pick up some of these games to put in the box I have set aside for this project, seeing as it’s taking time to get everything together! I also want to do a video on a Pentium MMX build eventually too, but that again will take time to get all the components for! So far I’ve the motherboard, CPU/heatsink/fan, and some video cards I can use with it (PCI), and also some RAM coming, although I have no case, PSU, or sound card yet! The sound card will need to be ISA and provide decent Sound Blaster support, but other than the storage drive, which is probably going to be Compact Flash via CF to SD converters, I can’t think of much else that is needed, especially as it has both USB and PS2 connections, and I have spare keyboards knocking around. I also have spare VGA cables too, which woule be useful to check on my secondary monitor. I do also want to get a 486 build one day, as well as also a P2/P3 build so I can test certain AGP cards with it, but the latter is definitely more likely than the former currently, because once you go older than a Pentium MMX, you have a lot of other considerations to keep in mind! As it stands, there are DIP switches on the PMMX motherboard I have, and they’ll feature on the 486 boards too, as well as needing to consider extra components on top, such as cache memory chips, amongst other things! Ideally, I want the 486 build to be like my first PC (probably a common wish), except a bit better, so I’ll be using a DX4 CPU, rather than a DX2; this will also be using CF/SD card storage, though as wth the PMMX, I still need to work out how I’m going to handle the drive partitions and the like. Given the 486 and the PMMX have more space for cases, there’s no reason why I couldn’t even use a small SSD as a sort of storage drive for files, games, etc, though rather than the micro SD to CF converters, I’d use some full SD converters instead, especially if I wanted to switch over to a regular SD card later, though alternatively, I may also just use the CF cards I have spare for the time being, as I have 4 of them I could use to install Windows 95 and 98 and DOS/Win 3.x, so that’s an option too; it’ll at least do for the time being, but I need to wait for them to get here from China first! I also have a proper PC speaker for each board too, because with retro builds, you need that proper PC speaker sound! I’ve just ordered 2 each of 4GB CF cards, and also a full SD card to CF adaptor, which at least opens up options for me, in case I can use the adaptor and an SD card, but the adaptors are good to have, as I never had any single ones anyway, plus I can use mini and micro SD cards via an adaptor anyway, so I have options, especially as I’m not sure if the double ones caused issues because of their nature. In any case, I’ll eventually be experimenting with stuff when I get it all and I have the space to do some recording. In any case, what I learn with the PMMX build will help me with the 486 build, especially as I can use EDO RAM with it, which is likely what the 486 will use, so I have a test platform for that at least! I’m influenced by LGR for some of my choices, and eventually, I want to have a front loader for the CF/SD card to make things easier to change, but like him, I may eventually need to resort to SCSI, but that isn’t an issue right now, so one step at a time. From what I’m seeing with one of his videos, it’s viable to use CF/SD for Pentium IIIs as well, so that might be the route I’d go for the boot drive at least, although I can use an SSD in the P3 build for installing stuff potentially, though I have a lot I need to think about re that. In any case, many things are progressing, but I need to start properly planning stuff out, as well as make sure I organise stuff better to get stuff more ready to go! In fact, it may be time to start up a new spreadsheet for projects, so I know what needs to be done, and how ready things will be. In any case, keep an eye out between Thursday and Tuesday for updates as to when IsaacStorm videos will be uploaded, as well as also hearing about some other updates. Until then though, take care and I’ll see you all next time. |

| body | So, I finally got to indulge in something quite geeky and something I wanted to do for the longest time, only it didn't work as well as I'd have hoped! MechCommander works very nicely on my Windows 10 tablet and it has a stylus, so I can technically do stuff like what this guy is doing: https://youtu.be/QP0j2qcx1Fw?t=120 Except... I need to work out how to tweak the game interface to get it working better with a stylus (though selecting units and telling them where to go works)... although at the same time, I can't "draw" routes on the screen; it's very likely that I need a keyboard to move around the map, or find some way to make a stylus work with the interface and dragging! Still, there's something exciting to me being able to do stuff that kinda mimics what goes on in this video... I've yet to get tired of this intro, plus the music still gives me chills, decades on! |

| body | So the Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 (SP4270) I ordered was the one with the DSTN screen, which explained why there was so much ghosting on the screen when I checked it out, as well as the contrast dial on the right side of the screen! It’s still a decently powerful laptop, but in terms of a more powerful retro gaming laptop, it’s essentially a bit of a bust, because any sort of STN screen sucks on a laptop used for gaming, as it can’t handle fast-moving stuff, as in stuff that happens with games! However, it should still work well as some sort of retro gaming server as servers don’t have anything that moves fast. However, I did spot another two SP laptops that might be good candidates to be used instead. One that I just found (for 30 quid) that is in decent cosmetic condition (but has no Windows 98 sticker), and is complete, but there’s no charger, so it’s not known if it fully works, plus it’s missing a few keys and another that is known to work but is missing a door over the battery bay, but other than that, the cosmetic condition is what I’d call more than good! this one costs about 47 quid including postage but has no charger either! I’m hoping that one of them will work out for me, but as of yet, I have no idea what the other model numbers in the 4200 Series correspond to as of yet, but I’ll need to learn this information for future research, I think, as well as putting into a wiki of some sort! In any case, the laptop I have currently can either be used as spare parts for a better 4200 (or even 4300 as they share the same parts) Series laptop, although I’m not overly keen on that idea, but the laptop isn’t really of use to me for any project outside of being parts or a server of some description. In terms of specs of the 4200/4300 Series, just to gloss over them, they’re all laptops with a Pentium III CPU, be that a Celeron or full one; all of them have an S3 Savage/IX GPU with 8MB of VRAM, and all of them actually have a DOS-compatible sound crd, which would be great for more demanding DOS games! Lastly, all of the models apart from one (which again is the one that I have) have a TFT screen, which is what you want for a gaming laptop, as anything else is a deal-breaker. Like I said though, the DSTN version can either be used for parts for the better models, or used as a local game server, which I think I might actually do for this one, as I can just hook up a cheap keyboard and mouse to use with it… I might also do a dual-boot setup on it too, so I can run both Windows XP and DOS/Win98 SE stuff on it for using with the other laptops, especially given it means the screen isn’t being used, as well as also not having to worry about using the keyboard on the laptop. My current plan really is to have pairs of laptops in order to facilitate null modem play via some games, but I do also have plans to set up a LAN for some retro PC laptops in order to facilitate gaming, as well as running other things too, but one step at a time. Ultimately though, I now know which model number (as far as I know) has the DSTN screen, and avoid it unless I need it for parts, although I will do some tests with it in order to see how the hardware (apart from the screen) will perform in the ways I’d want to use the better models for, so at least in terms of additional uses, I can do that with it as well! But yeah, I’m rambling a bit now, so I’m going to call it here for now. As always, I’ll keep you all up to date with what’s going on, and eventually I’ll provide information on a website/wiki to make it easier for people to judge what they need to be able to play on DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98, and XP, and if any tweaks or extra hardware is needed to do that, as it’s definitely getting harder to find the right information for certain laptops over others. But that’s me for now. Expect an IsaacStorm video later tonight at 23:00 on YouTube, with social media getting announced at 00:00 universally, as I’m going back to manual scheduling patterns. Until then though, take care and I'll see you all later on. |

At the very least I should be able to update on Blurt as I do here; I can't do scheduled posts on either platform, which is why I've had to scale back on the announcements regarding videos to weekly post summaries. I am actually going to be streamlining those weekly posts a bit too, so they consume less mana/resources than they do now, but it probably won't be fully organised till the start of next month, though I have plans to bring in certain changes from my 10th video as it made the most sense to! I also want to start doing fortnightly updates (alternating with my @StormkeeperSMDK accounts which aren't on Blurt or Steem) in order to keep a stable amount of content going, but again, that'll probably need a couple of months to get properly sorted! |

| body | I'll be so glad to finally get the PC upgrade stuff out of the way... I ordered another HDD (6TB) exclusively for the use of Linux, especially as I'll be recording on there mostly, but the 4TB HDD I had installed previously will now exclusively be for The use of Windows 10, partly to enable there to be enough space for recording some videos on there too, although I need to set aside an external drive to back up the videos (and other content, raw and edited) to as well, though I can just use a 3TB portable drive for that when I properly order the files on the other 3TB portable HDD that I have; I also want to have a NAS drive for additional backup of those files and also other things I want to share across the network (not media server stuff as I have a different idea in mind for that) for all my devices! Either way, I look forward to the opportunity to have a fresh Linux Mint 20.x install, a fresh Windows 10 install, having a separate SSD for some games on both OSes, and also a CPU upgrade and wireless card upgrade! Unfortunately, I'll have to accept that a GPU upgrade isn't happening anytime soon, but I'm hoping with everything I'm doing, it will at least give my system a much-needed boost! |

| body | Thank you, it is much appreciated :) Re my videos, I'm not sure if 1h+ can be considered a short, plus unfortunately for me, my activity on Blurt pretty much had diminishing returns, as I'd have to spend money to keep up with my output on other platforms; I was considering doing the weekly content summary on Blurt, but the cost of posting outweighs anything I'd likely get back, so for the time being it's not worth it, especially as I've already been trying to reduce the amount of platforms I post on! |

| title | Update to video scheduling |
| body | The upcoming video later today marks the first time I'm deploying Facebook and Twitter automation via IFTTT; if it's successful, then I'll be taking Facebook and Twitter out of my scheduling rotation! These posts will be in a format that involves the video title, as well as the URL to the video. Note as well that there will be some changes coming to the formatting of the video titles as well (likely from Episode 10, which will go live from the 27/04)' I'll probably start doing something like "[PUwS] The Binding of Isaac: Repentance / Episode # (Word)" to make the video title a bit snappier, though this isn't the final format. I will however be sticking to the current title format for any posts where a title is required, which means WordPress and Tumblr, as well as Hive/PeakD will retain the current title format, in order to help keep things streamlined for the template. I also have plans to bring out a weekly video publishing summary to the Steem platform from Ep 10 onwards, in order to keep the platform active, though this also allows me to ensure I'm using the SBI assigned to my account as well, seeing as there is some sort of financial incentive to keep my activity up on there. I will however not be embedding the videos in that post, seeing as in the future, there will be even more videos added to the summary, and it'll start making things messy. One thing I do want to do however is using the exact titles of the videos from YouTube to compensate for the lack of embedding. I'll likely do the same on PeakD (where the template will be stored) and WordPress (and Tumblr), because it seems like a good way to collect all the links to my content in one place for people to check out! Additionally, I have removed Blurt from rotation too now, as maintaining it has become unsustainable due to not getting enough Blurt to make posts. This will save me additional time in the long run, although the profile will stay up in order to reserve the namespace for myself. Lastly, the additional notes section will be deployed (in a slightly reformatted way) on Ko-fi as a blog post well as on Subscribestar to make sure everyone is aware of what is going on. Those weekly video summary posts will also be published on Ko-fi and Subscribestar in order to make sure there is consistency across the board. I'll likely post up the summaries on Monday evenings because Sunday is the last day of the average week, though I need to think about the best time to publish such a post! In any case, that's it for now. This ended up being way bigger than I planned it to be, but I felt it important to mention these changes ASAP, so here is the announcement. I'll be making other refinements over time as and when I notice they can be made, so look out for future updates! |
