      "body": "It's been a long time since I used steemit and I wanted to update everyone on a project that will be starting but may take a few years to complete.\n\nIntroducing one of the rarest rotary engine parts on the market. The Mazda 13G triple rotor eccentric shaft. My plan will be to have the shaft fitted with Racing Beat Type 2 stationary gears and low compression rotors for a new heart in the rx7.\n\nFor those of you who do not know about the 20b rotary engine (or triple rotor) it is the jaw dropping, heart racing, barrel of angry bees that top tier enthusiasts drop in. While some four rotors are slowly entering the market the majority of rx7 drivers will only ever own a 13B twin rotor. The main reason is the substantial cost required to bring a three rotor onto the street compared to the average cost of the car itself. While FD RX7s are trending up in price the 20b center irons have doubled in recent years. Currently sitting at $4,471 USD used and $8,937 USD for new at Atkins Rotary in the states.\n\nThe build I am looking at is unique, and it starts with the eccentric shaft. The 13G shaft was engineered by Mazda Racing for the Le Mans car of the early 80s. There isn't a lot of information out there about it but what is available suggests its a promising collectors piece.\n\nThe 13G engine was produced around 1983/1984 for the 1984 LeMans 727c race car, and was used until about 1989.\nThe engine was based on the 13B engine of the time, with some special parts:\n*Special centre housing with phasing gear (this will be machined down to accept the 20b gear)\n*Eccentric shaft to suit the 3 rotor design\n*Different front housing (which has holes for the tension bolts to go through, as the tension bolts screw into the special centre housing).\n*The rotor housings were the type with the water seal groove. (But, the external shape of the housings is narrower than the 13B)\n*Most other parts, while virtually identical to the 13B, were custom-made for this engine\n\nThe eccentric shaft used was a new design not previously tried by Mazda. Previous designs were made from modified 2 rotor eccentric shafts joined together with bolts and keyways, which were not rigid enough for extended periods of reliable operation. (This claim I find hard to believe considering it was being used in a Le Mans 24h car.)\nEssentially it was a 2 rotor shaft with a long extension on the front of it that went all the way to the front pulley.       "body": "It's been a long time since I used steemit and I wanted to update everyone on a project that will be starting but may take a few years to complete. \n\nIntroducing one of the rarest rotary engine parts on the market. The Mazda 13G triple rotor eccentric shaft. My plan will be to have the shaft fitted with Racing Beat Type 2 stationary gears and low compression rotors for a new heart in the rx7. \n\nFor those of you who do not know about the 20b rotary engine (or triple rotor) it is the jaw dropping, heart racing, barrel of angry bees that top tier enthusiasts drop in. While some four rotors are slowly entering the market the majority of rx7 drivers will only ever own a 13B twin rotor. The main reason is the substantial cost required to bring a three rotor onto the street compared to the average cost of the car itself. While FD RX7s are trending up in price the 20b center irons have doubled in recent years. Currently sitting at $4,471 USD used and $8,937 USD for new at Atkins Rotary in the states.\n\nThe build I am looking at is unique, and it starts with the eccentric shaft. The 13G shaft was engineered by Mazda Racing for the Le Mans car of the early 80s. There isn't a lot of information out there about it but what is available suggests its a promising collectors piece. \n\nThe 13G engine was produced around 1983/1984 for the 1984 LeMans 727c race car, and was used until about 1989.\nThe engine was based on the 13B engine of the time, with some special parts:\n*Special centre housing with phasing gear\n*Eccentric shaft to suit the 3 rotor design\n*Different front housing (which has holes for the tension bolts to go through, as the tension bolts screw into the special centre housing).\n*The rotor housings were the type with the water seal groove. (But, the external shape of the housings is narrower than the 13B)\n*Most other parts, while virtually identical to the 13B, were custom-made for this engine\n\nThe eccentric shaft used was a new design not previously tried by Mazda. Previous designs were made from modified 2 rotor eccentric shafts joined together with bolts and keyways, which were not rigid enough for extended periods of reliable operation. (This claim I find hard to believe considering it was being used in a Le Mans 24h car.)\nEssentially it was a 2 rotor shaft with a long extension on the front of it that went all the way to the front pulley. Then for the front rotor there is an eccentric shaft \"sleeve\" which slides over the front extension on the eccentric shaft until the angled section of the main eccentric shaft meets the corresponding section in the \"sleeve\" (Just like the flywheel does in any Mazda rotary).\nThe bearing/spacer/bolt down plate used to adjust the backlash (as in any Mazda rotary) performs the task of pushing the extension sleeve onto the tapered section.\nThe extension sleeve is indexed (so the rotor is in the correct phase with the other rotors) by a small keyway.\n\n![IMG_1919.JPG](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQ9DYzrnYgTXRxaeFuRXtrE8FwbHe4ZKphYa6DQmFgqvm/IMG_1919.JPG)",

We hire 40 - 60 summer students each year and show them the ins and outs of veg. management, oilfield, and working on the road.       "body": "Exams have finally come to a halt and I begin realizing all of the things I have learnt this semester. As I walked down the hallway with 9 textbooks in my backpack and 3 in my arms I began to realize I had not read most of these books. Never the less I was on a mission to reclaim! Around the corner from the library is a man who purchases these items from passers-by and what have you. General riff raff accumulate in one of the oldest buildings of the school to exchange their books of knowledge for a large stack of five and ten dollar bills.\n\nThe vast majority of these eager young minds have good intentions for this currency. Some plan to start small enterprises of their own. Others, dream of purchasing a new shirt, the CD of their favorite band, or perhaps donating to a charity. Sadly, the large majority, like myself fail to follow through with these dreams and fall victim to the “plastic” man’s trap. I call him a plastic man because it seems that every time I see him he wears the same clothes, has the same greasy hair, and turns to look at me without moving his neck. The kind of full back turn that immediately makes me curious if he’s a human. He’s pale yet has rose cheeks, he’s overweight and his neck stretches over his collar, his sweaty skin gives him a sort of plastic reflection.\n\nHis trap is simple, sell the students the textbooks and then offer to purchase them at the end of the semester. Pay 30% of what they purchased the book for and resell the used books for an up mark. Basically 80% of the money you give out is spent on purchasing next year’s textbooks and new students purchase the used. This provides a fairly steady stream of income for the plastic man, but sometimes he gets greedy. You see its never the teachers decision to update the edition of a book. It’s the plastic man’s boss. A change in edition means the system is shocked. All old textbooks are no longer accepted and students are forced to buy new.\n\nAs I wait in line with my stack of pristine textbooks the plastic man looks at me, his brows dripping with greed. “Got some more do ya?” he chuckles. I walk forward and hand him my books, he scans them through his machine saying old edition, old edition, $5, $35 and so on. I take the old editions upstairs to the Student Union office. This is the type of place you never want to be seen, especially as a Business Major. Hippies running around with stamps on their face, hairy hooligans and band geeks fill the surrounding area and my skin beings to itch. The student union is the point of no return. Once you associate with them you can kiss your dignity good bye. The publishers of the school’s newspaper, the medical insurance office, and visual arts room surround the union office.
