Here it comes!\n \n Much of the technical work has been completed and undergoing testing. It is loosely expected to be part of the next major update named Kermit’s Mom.\n \n There is one remaining logistics question that needs to be answered, and will be answered by this poll.\n \n For some background on the rationale behind MRC, please read my introduction post on the subject (from what seems like a lifetime ago):\n \n [An Introduction to Manual Rewards Claim](https://hive.blog/gridcoin/@jringo/an-introduction-to-manual-reward-claim-mrc)\n \n Otherwise, we present here the basics of MRC and a poll to determine the percentage of the MRC-fee that is sent directly to the community wallet.\n # Basics of MRC\n \n MRC stands for Manual Rewards Claim. It means that a cruncher can click the MRC button and receive their research rewards without the cruncher themself having to stake a block. It is great for users without enough GRC to regularly stake a block.\n \n **Operation**\n \n * There will be a 14 day minimum between receiving a research reward, whether from a staked block or a previous MRC, and clicking the MRC button.\n \n* There will be a fee for using the MRC feature.\n\n* That fee will be a percentage of your owed rewards.\n \n* If you claim your rewards at 14 days, that fee is 40% of your rewards.\n \n* After 14 days, the fee reduces based on the formula: (40% * 14 / t) where t is equal to the number of days since your last received reward.\n \n \n **Some examples**\n \n* At 14 days, the fee is 40%\n \n* At 28 days the fee is .4*14/28 = 20%\n \n* At 56 days the fee is .4*14/56 = 10%\n \n* At 180 days the fee is .4*14/180= ~3%\n \n \n # The Poll\n \n The poll is connected to the [treasury system](https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Gridcoin-Tasks/issues/202).\n \n MRC creates a new fee in the Gridcoin ecosystem. This fee can be used in many ways. For this initial implementation, we propose dividing the MRC-fee into two chunks:\n \n **Chunk 1:** A reward for the staker that secures the block and sends the MRC to the person that clicked the button.\n \n **Chunk 2:** The community wallet.\n \n This poll seeks to determine the percentage of the fee that will go to the community wallet.\n \n **NOTE:** You are voting on the percentage of the MRC-fee that will go to the community wallet. If you are reading this multiple days after this was published and haven't upgrade yet, you may need to do more after upgrading to get yourself off of the fork. You may need to either sync from zero<sup>1</sup> or use a snapshot (File -> Snapshot Download) after updating\n\nThe reason for this fork is that some of these old wallets will incorrectly think this user's block was invalid when it was not. This issue is present in some of the wallet running the 5.2 releases, but is not in any wallets on the 5.3.0.0 release.\n\nIt is worth noting that this will not have large impacts on the network as a whole because only around 2% of the last 1000 blocks were made by users running v5.2.
