Carly &amp; I call each other our P.I.C.  \"partner in crime.\" Hahahaha. Carly said she'd like to talk about a idea she was formulating. Of course; love to hear what was going on.  She then explained to me the initial thoughts about working with other women on Steem.  Having a place &amp; a voice on the blockchain.</p>\n<p>Instantly fell in love with the idea. Over the next few weeks <a href=\"/@ogc\">@ogc</a>'s idea began to take shape. She assembled a super group of women on Steem. They would all work together. They were said to inspire the creation of epic poetry, beautiful works of art, and noble stories. The modern muse is still one that inspires others to create their own unique works, though the means of creation have changed and evolved. In this time of exponentially evolving technology, the Muse Project aims to uplift women through the creation of heartfelt content.</p>\n<p>Who Are We?<br>\nThe Muse Project is backed and guided by a collective of five powerful female founders that have come together through a mutual love of the Steem blockchain and a desire to make the community stronger. Each woman has a unique gift to offer the community. The Muse Project is a model that will attribute 25% of post rewards towards a fund that goes directly back to female creators, in the way of a scholarship. Luckily funds were never at risk yesterday, but if you haven't noticed there has been a huge increase of phishing attempts and hacked accounts in the last few months.</p>\n<p>I wrote a post a few weeks ago about how to <a href=\"https://steemit.com/steemit/@themarkymark/don-t-get-hacked-how-to-be-smart\">Be Smart and don't get hacked</a> which I recommend everyone reads if you are not comfortable with computer security, even then I recommend you check it out to see if you pick up something anyway.</p>\n<p>Steemit is an interesting place, every action has a financial result, but also means it doesn't take much to accidentally send all your funds to someone or be phished if you are not super careful.  In the crypto world, you typically protect your funds using a cold wallet.</p>\n<h1>What is a Cold Wallet</h1>\n<p>The concept of a cold wallet is simple, think of it like your bank account.  You don't have easy access to those funds and must <strong>jump through hoops</strong> to get to them.  These hoops being, write a check, goto the bank, transfer money, and so on.  While a cold wallet is a little more than that, it's good enough for this example.</p>\n<p>Next, you have a <strong>hot wallet</strong>, this is your wallet you use for day to day spending, think of this as the wallet in your back pocket or the one in your purse.  This is what you use for your day to day spending and is always at risk of being stolen, pickpocketed, lost, or just misplaced.</p>\n<p>While your hot wallet is a lot riskier, you don't typically carry much on you so you won't dramatically affect your lifestyle if it is lost or stolen.  On Steem(it) most everyone is using the concept of a hot wallet.  All their funds are in their main day to day account and at risk on a day to day basis.</p>\n<p>You might use DLive and decide to use SteemConnect to give authorization to your main account.  This is two third-party services (DLive &amp; SteemConnect) you are exposing to your account.  Fortunately, Dlive only uses your posting key but SteemConnect does require your Active key to make the change.  While SteemConnect has been considered safe it may not always be the case.  Every time you enter a private key into a third party site you are at risk and are giving up some form of security.</p>\n<p>If you haven't noticed lately, there has been an alarming increase of phishing attempts via comments and posts attempting to trick users into giving up their active private key.  If these attempts are successful, you will quickly see your funds drained and sent to a third party account and quickly sold on Bittrex or some other exchange.</p>\n<h1>Phishing account <a href=\"/@dana1365\">@dana1365</a></h1>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/D685qgB.png\"></p>\n<p>Another example of a cold wallet is a hardware wallet like the Leder Nano or the Trezor.  These hardware devices act as a safe storage of your private keys and your private keys never leave the device.  Unfortunately, they do not support STEEM or STEEM Backed Dollars.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/CMplBz7.jpg\"><br>\n<sub>Source: Trezor.io</sub>\n</p><h1>So what can I do?</h1>\n<p>There are a two options, the first being send any funds you don't need on a day to day basis to an Exchange.  They have a lot more security and are not being used day to day as a social media account.  While this may seem to be more secure than leaving into your account, I highly recommend <strong>you do not do this</strong>.</p>\n<p>Exchanges are notorious for freezing and stealing funds.  I wrote two posts on this a while ago and highly recommend reading them as it shows you how unregulated and unsafe Crypto trading is.</p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@themarkymark/psa-exchanges-don-t-owe-you-damn-thing\">PSA - Exchanges don't owe you a damn thing</a></li>\n<li><a href=\"https://steemit.com/openledger/@themarkymark/psa-exchanges-don-t-owe-you-damn-thing-part-2\">PSA - Exchanges don't owe you a damn thing - Part 2</a></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>I don't recommend using an Exchange as your cold wallet</strong> and I don't even recommend keeping funds in there unless you are actively trading.</p>\n<h1>So what do you recommend?</h1>\n<p>The solution I propose is simple, create a new account on STEEM and send all excess funds to it.  In most cases, you should never need to log in to the account and most certainly won't need to log into it on a day to day basis or connect it to any third party apps.  The fact you hardly ever log into it will give you far more security than storing funds on an account that you use on a day to day basis and connect to unknown third parties.</p>\n<p>This secondary account does not and should not have any third party accounts linked to it like Utopian, Busy, Dlive, DTube, or any other future apps coming in the future.  The goal is to interact with it as little as possible and don't login in or out of it on a daily basis.       "body": "<div><p>Wow. My last couple of posts have been pretty heavy. I think it may be time to lighten the mood a little.</p>\n<p>So today I present…</p>\n<h1>The time I taught a class from inside an elevator!</h1>\n<p><br></p><center><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/http://i.tbs.com/v5cache/TBS/Images/Dynamic/i88/MAW_203_Gifs_Milo_elevator21_041820131023.gif\"><br>\n<em>Did I mention I don't do very well sitting still?</em><br>\n</center><br><p></p>\n<p><br>Like all of my teaching stories, this is 100% true. Time combined with numerous retellings of the story may have lead to a little poetic license, but I swear it is as minimal as possible.</p>\n<p>Every year, I set up a \"lab\" in our school's auditorium. The premise is that our class has stumbled upon an archaeological dig of a Stone Age village. I use the auditorium because the stage provides for a wide open space on which to set up different stations, it is usually cold and the lighting is adjustable. Therefore, I can simulate the feeling that the class has entered a chilly, dark cave.</p>\n<p>The stations include a cooking area, garbage dump, tool making spot, a ceremonial site and... a dead body.</p>\n<p>The dead body is a reject skeleton from our biology department, but if the kids ever ask where it came from I answer \"It is the last student who asked too many questions about skeletons\" or \"I'm not allowed to talk about it ever since... the incident.\" (I always use very dramatic air quotes when saying \"the incident\".)</p>\n<p>Please, don't worry, the kids know I am kidding... or am I?</p>\n<p>Anyway, I mentioned I set this all up on a stage right? Well stages are usually raised off the ground (I think that may be an essential element). In order to get on the stage, one might need to walk up some stairs. I am a special education teacher. Do you know what special education teachers have? Students with special needs! Sometimes these needs require the use of a wheelchair... that can't climb stairs!</p>\n<p><br></p><center><br>\n<img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aRCTLdu8uiA/U2vCrzNXcLI/AAAAAAAAGtk/nOFMyEB7wPo/s1600/homersimpsondoh.png\"></center><br><p></p>\n<p>It was not until Bill entered the room in his electric wheelchair that I remembered I would need to find a way to get him on the stage in order to participate in the activity. Now I would like to say that this is because when I interact with Bill I don't even notice he is in a wheel chair. I am so enlightened and awesome that I only see the person and not his disability. But in reality, it was because I am a freaking idiot! I screwed up.</p>\n<p>As soon as Bill entered, I suppressed a curse directed at myself and looked at my teaching assistant. Because she is awesome and not a freaking idiot, she \"reminded\" me that there was an elevator in the hallway. I ran to locate it. I did. Although it required a key, I was sure Bill had one. He did.</p>\n<p>When the elevator door opened, I noticed it seemed like it was rather dated and had not been used in a while. There was also no light.</p>\n<p>Being the hero I am, I decided I should try it out before letting a 14 year old kid get into an ancient, dark elevator. I inserted the key and the door closed. Using my phone as a flashlight, I found the button, pressed it and began my five foot journey upward (Ummm it was only a stage. There were like six steps). Two and a half feet later, the elevator stopped.</p>\n<p>This time, I could not suppress the curse. I did manage to keep it quiet and avoid the the queen-mother of dirty words, the \"F-dash-dash-dash\" word ... so I had that going for me.</p>\n<p><br></p><center><br>\n<img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/http://tamedcynic.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/The-f-dash-dash-dash-word.jpg\"><br>\n<em>I didn't even say \"fudge\".</em><br>\n</center><br><p></p>\n<p>While my teaching assistant searched for someone from the maintenance department, I did the only thing I could do. I taught. But before I began, the adult who works with Bill yelled, \"You know I can just help him up the stairs and he can sit in a chair on the stage\". Great idea! (Wish I had it 5 minutes ago).</p>\n<p>I instructed (screamed) for all of my students to come close to the elevator. From inside the pitch black, closet-like space I shouted for them to take one of the gold worksheets located on the stage and to begin by sketching the area on the back of the page and then report back to the elevator door for more instructions.  Although the drawing actually was part of the assignment, I was really hoping it would kill enough time for my rescuers to arrive. It did not.</p>\n<p>Next, I began yelling questions. I told them that no one should touch any objects in the stations and then asked them why. A few of them shouted answers to the closed elevator door. Eventually, after a few more guided questions, the students figured out that if you move something at an archeological dig, you could change the story. Next I explained that their job was to figure out what the people of the village used each area for. They should write down their guess and include the evidence they used to make their determination. I usually responded with another question that helped lead them to their own answer.</p>\n<p>Just as I was contemplating using my signal-less phone like the ball Steve McQueen tosses against his cell wall in <em>The Great Escape</em>, I heard the familiar voice of John from maintenance... A.K.A. \"my hero\". Through my squinting eyes, I could see they weren't cheering at all. They were laughing. But that is ok. So was I. If you can't laugh at a guy who just taught an entire lesson from a box, what can you laugh at in school?</p>\n<p>Although I <em>love</em> telling this story, to this day, I am 100% convinced that someone on the outside was recording this. They could have gotten me out at any point but they wanted to see how long I would keep soldiering on. It fits well. The below chart has updated waves with everything shifted to the right since time has elapsed. There is that chance of a D wave breakout and that'll be quite attractive.<br>\n<img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmSZsVhPxfX9BqbFBAzXPBGFQLqEQJCSmh3KeM21jLarvm/image.png\"></p>\n<p>At times, when Bitcoin (BTC) doesn't have the lead, another coin can usually be found to be holding the baton. In this case, I believe that is Ethereum (ETH). Compare the charts and you'll see that ETH is a bit ahead of BTC with regards to patterning the BTC. ETH has already completed the D wave and is now starting the E wave. IF that's the case, then BTC could follow ETH's lead and complete the D as well. Lets do the numbers. Wampum gave .0005 in divs, but the stock's market cap only had to move .8 ETH. Thats .000625 in Divs/1EthVolume  .  With POOH i received .009902 in divs, but the market cap moved 300+ ETH.  300 is probably being really nice because thats just how much it dropped.  We are basically ignoring all the buys during that period. Our sensory organs can take in millions of bits of information a second yet our consciousness can only handle a small portion of that. How do we decide what to focus on?</p>\n<h2>The simple answer is we don’t.</h2>\n<p>Our minds develop patterns to help us recognize information and group it into families. We then choose different groups to focus on based on our wants and needs.</p>\n<p>Let me give you an example. Pretend that you are in the middle of the desert, you have nothing to drink and you are feeling a bit parched. Your mind will automatically begin scanning your environment for sources of water. Given enough time, and desperation, your mind may begin to even fabricate perceptual stimuli to trick you into continuing your search (survival mechanisms are awesome!).</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmepbBBLt98BqYZm9YEgFoYH9ggGEGzFspoXu2LV7xZ6UR/c0061525bfd8f0bebc9a16e716a11b75.jpg\" alt=\"c0061525bfd8f0bebc9a16e716a11b75.jpg\"></p>\n<p>This is an extreme example of the phenomena but shows us <strong>how strong our minds are</strong> and how <strong>we see what we want to</strong>.</p>\n<h2>Why is this important?</h2>\n<p>When you understand that the mind is fallible, and sees what it wants to, you begin to question your perceived reality a bit more. Was that guy really pissed at me, or did I simply perceive it that way because I “felt” like that was the most likely scenario. We are constantly walking around seeing things the way we “think” they are, instead of seeing them as they actually are. This can lead to some <strong>large perceptual errors</strong>; however, when we really grasp how we are perceiving things, we can begin to <strong>shift things in our own favor</strong>.</p>\n<p>Take this for example. You are looking for a new job and you are worried about not finding it. What if you could trick yourself into perceiving things as if you already had that job? Do you think this would affect the likelihood of you successfully finding it? <strong>I think it would</strong>, and I will tell you why.</p>\n<p>If you believe (belief = perception) that you already have the job then you would most likely:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Act more confidently because you are no longer worried.</li>\n<li>Experience a decrease in stress and anxiety (leading to increased performance).</li>\n<li>Attempt opportunities you may not have because you are not worried about the outcome.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmXDT1Y8UwcWGCjAAK4iPC64xcSdAJb6p1on4ZzVPtysdF/download%20(3).jpeg\" alt=\"download (3).jpeg\"></p>\n<h2>The possibilities of this technique are limitless.</h2>\n<p>It’s almost like you are creating your own virtual reality world that you can live and exist in. Obviously we want to remain connected to consensus reality; however, we get the luxury of adding the “skin” that we prefer. Try it for yourself and see how it works.       "body": "<div><p><br></p>\n<p><strong>I forget the movie my boyfriend and I were watching, a movie about a family traveling and camping in an RV. I thought it looked super fun and told him I wanted to also go camping in an RV. His response, \"That's not freaking camping, its glamping!\". Then, he showed me some youtube videos of actual camping in Maine, and I thought that even looked more fun!</strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmb7AU7DGVsn9U9ZfxBgsPWfUbNSPHXhEuTk4P5Y1G39XK/kjki.jpg\" alt=\"kjki.jpg\"></p>\n<p><strong>Sure,</strong> I have seen movies where people are actually camping, but for the most part, these are portrayed only at campgrounds and such.</p>\n<p><strong>The next morning,</strong> while I was having my favorite coffee- A triple shot, soy cappuccino, I looked online for camping in the Philippines. I suddenly remembered when my elder sister's first visit in Cebu, we visited this park about an hour and 30 minutes away in Busay, Cebu and they have a campground :D I called up three of my good girlfriends (<a href=\"/@emonemolover\">@emonemolover</a>, <a href=\"/@bonjovey\">@bonjovey</a> &amp; Mel), and asked if they would like to go on a camping. Of course, they are always down to get out of the city!</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmUN3xdGfY8HsMXRfSMm6UHATT9oZBJwJrzVy44etPfu1Y/11.JPG\" alt=\"11.JPG\"></p>\n<p><strong>We brainstormed</strong> on the things that we would need during the trip such as: flashlights, sleeping bags, lighters, a cooler for our food and drinks, playing cards to kill the time-And of course mosquito repellant for the pesky bloodsuckers. We all went to the mall to go grocery shopping  and we got food, snacks, and some beer for the evening campfire. S'mores also? yep!</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://scontent.fceb2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/15195936_306890256377809_8664169920607609943_o.jpg?oh=ae1599e2ebe39f296c42d02e1aa08408&amp;oe=5AEE2F81\"><br>\n<strong><em>The campground</em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Before we left,</strong> I called the campground to verify our reservation and I was told to bring our own wood for the woodfire because they don't sell it on site. I am glad they told us that because the town is 20 minutes away by motorbike and it's a hassle if you don't have your own vehicle.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmbrx7eRM5Mne9zerEHj7KQwcd5Vt43Vc24253rTJftN43/3.JPG\" alt=\"3.JPG\"></p>\n<p><strong>As per usual</strong>, we all showed up on the day of departure with backpacks full of things we didn't actually need, haha! The four of us met at Ayala terminal at around 9:30 am and from there we waited for the van to leave a little over than 30 minutes. When we got to the camping site, the receptionist welcomed us with a friendly smile and walked us through the things that we need to know about the site.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://scontent.fceb2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/15110889_306891019711066_3338113001781483337_o.jpg?oh=20e13b4325e90d228dcc0fca4386b408&amp;oe=5AE65536\"><br>\n<strong><em>The Restaurant</em></strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmZDijWUeFiQeexKU8ZvkdztygZJgEuTZLNFK44USioXkx/DSCN1579.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1579.JPG\"><br>\n<strong><em>Outdoor Swing Set</em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>He also showed us around</strong> and we took some cool photos of the site. They have a bike trail that's laid throughout the entire park with a great complimenting view of the mountains surrounding us. Everywhere you look was green and luscious. They also have a hiking trail but we didn't try any of these activities since we wanted to spend more time at the campground and we were super excited for the evening fire for our smores.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmNScGikjtowza1r6KZCcC6DY4TnNienZMEvNwPzQGwx71/DSCN1569.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1569.JPG\"><br>\n<strong><em>Picnic Tables</em></strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://scontent.fceb2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/15156806_306890266377808_2573099615974198970_o.jpg?oh=76278392ba9112277163038de5a8271e&amp;oe=5ADF0670\"><br>\n<strong><em>The campfire site</em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>We had pizza for lunch</strong> that Lence (<a href=\"/@emonemolover\">@emonemolover</a>) treated us to, and we chatted for a little before we headed to our tent (which was a bit downhill). The tent was perfect for the four us, although it wasn't the glamorous tent I would have imagined- It was comfortable. When I say glamorous tent, I was thought of a dramatic looking tent where there are hanging lights inside and a comfy bed? Lol. Anyways, were able to fit all our bags and still have enough space to stretch out :) There were two bathrooms, one closed door shower and few outdoor showers (how cool was that?).</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmY2bitGj3NZzn7NzzEyMPU4q17kuzGkHJRqxdpR7cptLp/4.JPG\" alt=\"4.JPG\"></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmZGMX3BsbH2mYEWWLNWWLgUPPyeTJgxy5eHT7xVyhfHwE/6.JPG\" alt=\"6.JPG\"></p>\n<p><strong>We spent about an hour</strong> scrambling on the playground, climbing the ropes, chasing each other which was really fun. Our clothes were full of spattered dried muds from crawling on the ground as if we were on a battlefield. It felt like returning to our childhood, haha! Since we were the only ones there, we weren't too concerned about how goofy we looked- Only the guard dog was judging us. We headed down to the receptionist's office and asked if they sold any water but unfortunately, we were out of luck since the clerk told us that the restaurant was temporarily closed for repairs. I thought to myself, if it's  safe to drink the tap water at the campsite, why would the employees here buy their water from a water refilling station? So we didn't  want to take the risk, (After all, we weren't on Survivor or Alone :) )</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmX2VSHQfGv6PYTDRJatFUB1gSkKNYJuiKR2de7dGMQ6R1/DSCN1560.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1560.JPG\"><br>\n<strong><em>Our tent</em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>We headed back to our tent</strong> to check how much water and other drinks we still had, and since we only had one liter of bottled water and 2 alcoholic drinks each, we would still need water for the next day. <a href=\"/@emonemolover\">@emonemolover</a> and I decided to head into the town leaving <a href=\"/@bonjovey\">@bonjovey</a> and Mel at the campsite. We started walking since we couldn't get a ride and after about 5 minutes we hitch-hiked a motorbike who was on his way home but this was before we reached the mall called Gaisano which was the closest place to purchase water. After another few minutes of walking, we happen to flag down a motorbike driver, who was kind enough to offer us a ride to the mall. He even waited for us and drove us back to our site, and since we didn't know exactly how much it would cost us for the whole ride so we just handed him 100 pesos ($2) and we were happy for his help.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://scontent.fceb2-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/15129625_306891509711017_4518195703986955437_o.jpg?oh=0aac452de6df94a7a563d054e6a4f9a2&amp;oe=5B18F00D\"></p>\n<p><strong>Back at our tent,</strong> I could see the relieved expressions on both <a href=\"/@bonjovey\">@bonjovey</a> and Mel's faces. We picked up 5 liters of water, snacks, and more hotdogs to barbecue. By the time we returned, it was already time to start our campfire. We gathered enough twigs to start the fire and put the big wood, soon enough we had a large enough fire to start barbecuing the hotdogs and the Krispy Kreme donuts we brought for dessert. When I told my friends about grilling the donuts, they were surprised that you could grill them, just like I thought the first time I had it when my boyfriend grilled some at home.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmNqYnqoWf6jxhq7u5C7jnnZQiStGj9KhWqHgyE3oQxnkN/DSCN1523.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1523.JPG\"></p>\n<p><strong>The weather was enjoyable,</strong> we played some music and danced around the fire until our knees and feet got tired. Then, we decided to sit on the large logs that were set up on the campground and played <strong><em>”pinoy henyo”</em></strong> which is a charade-style game that I downloaded on my phone.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmW3EWqafRXydrmw1J51vSJEExoytNdffwy9oXAmfbMbLn/16.JPG\" alt=\"16.JPG\"></p>\n<p><strong>We were excited</strong> how we're going to survive the night but at the same time a little bit scared, I wasn't scared for my self but rather for my friends. Knowing it's just us girls, but there's a guard that roams around once in a while and three dogs that were also guarding us. ;)</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmRJpsT27GuzWVn4ij8sf9nS3uXgP5JGhB176MWZL6ZD6g/DSCN1590.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1590.JPG\"><br>\n<strong><em>One of the dogs guarding us</em></strong> ;)</p>\n<p>I guess we needn't worry about wildlife like bears or wolves in the Philippines :)</p>\n<p><strong>After a few hours of laughing and drinking by the fire,</strong> We all went to shower, to wash the smoke and sweat off, and  we headed back to our tent to play some cards. It wasn't more than an hour before when were we clean and now our faces were already smeared with soot, covered with lipsticks, (lol) as a punishment for someone losing a card game and the four of us happen lose and win somehow.  We also spent the night telling our stories with each other, until each of us got tired and fell asleep.</p>\n<p><strong>Not long after we fell asleep,</strong> we decided to move our tent on a different ground because we were awoken of some noise under the wood slab on which our tent was installed. One of the dogs at the site was playing with <a href=\"/@bonjovey\">@bonjovey</a>'s shoes, we were glad it was the dog and not a bear, lol.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmaqs3asxctpkVn9gscngzax4jqTZaoKZTGR23LUevtzYn/DSCN1511.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1511.JPG\"></p>\n<p><strong>Since we couldn't fall back asleep</strong> we decided to lay our blankets on the grass outside of our tent and enjoy the beautiful moon and stars. Everything looks and feels calmer at night-Nothing beats the beauty of mother nature-Especially in the wilderness.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/DQmbXJyJHS8yYiRvSbVpCCQhAJBnUWKxTUaEsRUt5Uvo6Kb/DSCN1500.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1500.JPG\"><br>\n<strong><em>The view of the moon</em></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Before the sun reached it's highest peak,</strong> we went for a jog and was able to see more of the landscape of Canso-x. The author of the project was engineer Egor A. Adam. The project was approved, but due to lack of funding, the bridge was not built.</p>\n<p>The bridge was built only in 1956 - 1957 due to the construction of thermal communications in this place. The project was compiled in the institute \"Lengiproinzhproekt\". The welded span structure consists of two main beams and two auxiliary I-beams.       "body": "<div class=\"MarkdownViewer Markdown\"><div><p><strong><em>When did you last randomly pick a city to spend a day exploring it?</em></strong><br>\n<em>Mark and I have been thinking about going on a trip for a very long time and we finally got our wish granted recently, so we packed our bags and left our everyday routine behind for a while.</em><br>\n<strong><em>Can you guess how many European cities we visited?</em></strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/3O1TJch.jpg\"></p>\n<p><em>Truth be said, it was Mark's sister Ana who takes the credit for our little European adventure: she invited us to visit her in Luxembourg where she lives.<br>\nThe deal was the following: while she was working we would randomly pick a nearby city to spend a day there exploring.</em><br>\n<em>The exception was Friday evening when we went to Amsterdam together and spent the night there. We went sightseeing the following day and in the evening proceeded to Antwerp where Ana joined her office colleagues for Jamiroquai’s concert.<br>\nWe arrived round 10 p.m. and while Ana was letting herself go in Jamiroquai’s funky and jazzy style, Mark and I struggled to find the way to accommodation we had booked a few days earlier.</em></p>\n<p>“Mark, you are driving us round Antwerp quite confidently,“ I tried to encourage him.<br>\n“I never said how impressed I was with you finding your way easily in Ghent, Brussels, Metz, Luxembourg and Amsterdam.“<br>\n“You know my winning combination: concentration plus satellite navigation equals wanted destination,” he smiled.<br>\n“I am looking forward to a bed, shower, food and rest.” He shook his head and closed his eyes for a split second as if visualizing himself already there. Which was enough for a wrong turn.<br>\n“And now what Mark? We didn’t book a room that far from the centre, did we?“<br>\nIn less than an hour we reached our destination in total silence.</p>\n<p>We entered a large covered lobby through the main door.<br>\nFrom the lobby, we walked to the apartment we booked. We found the key to our apartment in a box near the door that we opened with the code we received immediately upon booking.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/XobIkrA.jpg\"></p>\n<p>The wooden floor welcomed us by squeaking. We turned the light on and stood for a few seconds at the threshold. We glanced at each other. I almost stopped breathing as if I was watching a scene from a horror movie. Only, I liked what I saw.<br>\nThe apartment was a work of art. It was small, cozy, with high ceilings and a gallery. At the entrance, below the gallery there was a kitchen area with a dining room, adjacent to which the living room continued.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/sRXJ4Ba.jpg\"></p>\n<p>The shower cabin was a striking central motif that made this apartment special and different. Facing the backyard, between the kitchen and the living room, it allowed the curious passers-by in the lobby to see the person in the shower. As its walls were made of glass, the only guard against curious looks was a curtain that the person taking the shower could choose to pull or not to pull.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/NhZ0Hyk.jpg\"></p>\n<p>Good thing was that at least the toilet was well hidden beneath the stairs leading to the gallery where there was a double bed and a small desk.<br>\nFrom the gallery one had a controlling view of the living room with carefully selected furnishing.<br>\nThe wooden flooring and a brick wall gave the apartment a warm ambience and the white color chosen as the finishing layer of the furnishing made the small space look brighter and bigger. Well-picked and well-arranged decorative items were well-integrated into a very pleasant set up.</p>\n<p>“How about it, Mark? We’ll throw a coin, and whoever loses is the first to take a shower without a curtain,\" I laughed completely convinced that I could not lose the bet, not even daring to consider losing.<br>\nAna arrived an hour after midnight. We were waiting for her wide awake.<br>\n“Wow, a shower in the middle of an apartment!“ were her first words upon entering.<br>\n“You know, this seems like a place I could live in.“ She commented further as she inspected every detail.</p>\n<p>As we were quite tired, we soon fell asleep. The next day we woke up early. It was Sunday.<br>\nWe had time until noon when we were ready to go to the airport.<br>\nAntwerp is one of the largest European ports. It is located on the estuary of the Schelde River. It is an important trading and financial center; the city is famous for processing diamonds.</p>\n<p>That was the main reason we went to the port in the morning: to see Antwerp’s latest architectural jewel, the Port House. We were impatient and full of expectations.<br>\nThe crystal structure of the building shone from the distance and we were attracted by its size.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/1vWaY99.jpg\"></p>\n<p>“It looks like a gigantic space ship that emerged from the future and now hangs above this old building,“ Mark said.<br>\n“Architects are free to create the world of their own,\" I observed admiring the miracle of modern architecture.<br>\n\"It looks so powerful and attractive,\" added Ana, while the three of us walked toward the building as if hypnotized.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/gv0PO6a.jpg\"></p>\n<p>The Port House was designed by the architectural studio Zaha Hadid Architects.<br>\nRecently deceased, the famous British architect of Iraqi origin, Zaha Hadid, is known for her exceptional architectural achievements around the world. Her prestige was confirmed in 2004. when she received the Pritzker Architecture Prize. This is the most prestigious award for architecture in the world. It is awarded every year since 1979. To this day, Zaha Hadid is one of two women ever to be awarded the prize.</p>\n<p>After the hypnosis eased off under the blows of the wind and the first drops of rain, we headed toward the center.</p>\n<p>“Look at that tall red glazed building. I'll park the car and let's see her up close,\" Mark said.<br>\nIt was a new surprise of the Antwerp port.<br>\nWe did not know anything about it. Not until we took and read a promotional booklet offered at the entrance.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/uWBzfc8.jpg\"></p>\n<p>We learned that it was a museum building, MAS, Museum aan de Stroom, which would be translated into English as the Museum by the River. It is the latest and largest museum in Antwerp, opened in 2011.<br>\nThe exhibition collection of the museum is made up of more than half a million exhibits. Exhibiting motifs refer to the city, its development, and its place in the world.<br>\nWe entered the building and climbed from floor to floor by escalator. Ten floors.<br>\nWith each floor the view of the city grew wider. Finally, we came to the open roof.<br>\nThe glass fence through which we captured the most beautiful sights provided extra security.<br>\nIn front of us opened the 360-degree panorama of the whole city.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/v4i4JmR.jpg\"></p>\n<p>We walked on the roof of the building, enjoying the view from all sides. We could say that in a matter of minutes we were able to see the whole city, from a very special perspective.<br>\nAfter a while we started our way out, having fun on the escalator like playful children, photographing each interesting thing.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/2WjxM81.jpg\"></p>\n<p>When we got out, we went to the center of the city, walked around the main square and sat down for coffee in a side alley.<br>\n\"Time to go to the airport,\" Ana said, looking at her watch.<br>\nThese words sort of shook Mark and me, as if we were intentionally trying to delay that moment.</p>\n<p>We sat in the car, turned on the music and headed for the Charleroi Airport.<br>\nWe knew that we were getting closer to the most difficult moment when we will have to break up and say good bye.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/UU1iCW7.jpg\"></p>\n<p>\"Ana, thanks for inviting us to Luxembourg, it was a very nice stay,\" I said.<br>\n\"Yes, it was great, sister,\" Mark looked at her.<br>\n\"Oh, come on, I’ll see you again in no time,\" Ana said in a low voice.<br>\nThough she was trying to appear self-confident, in the next moment her calm demeanor gave way to shaky and emotional outburst, unsuccessfully hidden beneath dark sunglasses: \"I’ll miss you. I’ll miss being awakened by the smell of morning coffee.\"</p>\n<p>As we were approaching the airport, it seemed as if the music in the car was gradually smothered by our mind’s clock ticking off the last minutes of our stay. Not to speak of the hours that were lost in the kilometers we covered over the past few days.</p>\n<p>We arrived at the airport, a place where some journeys start and other end and where we embarked on our new adventure, the adventure of getting back home.</p>\n<p>We stood in the circle as our hands were intertwined in a tight embrace pulsating with strong emotions; with both joy and sorrow that roared like a hurricane above our heads.<br>\nThus, the last second of our time together was consumed.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://i.imgur.com/wimrYIm.jpg\"></p>\n<p>Do you still remember my introductory question?</p>\n<p>Over eight days that this extraordinary journey lasted, Mark and I visited six different European cities. We covered approximately 2500 km of asphalt and 860 km of straight-line distance. It was also the trip with my lowest ever ratio of the kilometers covered and the number of photos made.<br>\nHalf-way of the trip, namely, my cell phone “decided” to shoot every third photo without informing me of the new policy.
