If wealth is so important, what makes a country rich? The most proximate cause is that wealthy countries have lots of physical and human capital per worker and they produce things in a relatively efficient manner, using latest technological knowledge. But why do so some countries have more physical and human capital and why is it organized well using the latest technological knowledge? In a word, incentives. Entrepreneurs, investors, and savers need incentives to save and invest in physical capital, human capital, innovation and efficient organization. Macroeconomists are especially interested in the incentives to produce new ideas. If the world never had any new ideas, the standard of living would eventually stagnate. But entrepreneurs draw on new ideas to create new products like iPhones, new pharmaceuticals, self-driving cars, and many other innovations. Just about any device, you use in daily life is based on multi innovations. Just about any device, you use in daily life is based on a multitude of ideas and discoveries, the lifeblood of economic growth. One apple feeds one person but one idea can feed the world. | body | You can change and improve things if you are able to imagine it. You can’t make it, if you can’t imagine it. It’s naive to think that everything will happen serendipitously or just knowing things is enough. Our schools incentivize student just for knowing things in form of marks without giving considerations to creativity. Attitude toward inventiveness is almost negligible in our schools. >You can’t make it, if you can’t imagine it. Economic growth matters. Wealth brings us flush toilets, antibiotics, higher education, the ability to choose the career we want, fun vacations, and of course, a greater ability to protect our families against catastrophes. New ideas, of course, require incentives and that means an active scientific community and the freedom and incentive to put new ideas into action. Ideas also have peculiar properties. One apple feeds one person but one idea can feed the world. Ideas, in other words, aren’t used up when they are used and that has tremendous implications for understanding the benefits of trade, the future of economic growth, and many other topics. — Modern Principles of Economics by Tyler Cowen, Alex Tabarrok Idea: > We can dedicate the entire Saturday to bring ideas to the table for discussion. Students can be taught effective ways to generate ideas, they can think about the problem, zooming out the problem and zooming in into the problem, generate the hypothesis, design experiments and run tests for validation and iteratively improving upon ideas by looking at alternatives, flaws and what is missing in it. Students don’t need to work on different ideas each week. They can take months and years to refine their ideas. | body | Designed by Nidhi Mishra The public distribution system is inefficient in terms of production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services and lacks inclusiveness. You can view the fallouts of PDS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_distribution_system Apps can solve the basic social security problem, bring healthy habits of spending money and can be used to run experiments, test it and improve it to get the best results. Features: 1) API endpoints that any app developer can use and integrate it with their e-commerce apps. Separate types of account for seller and customer. 2) Statistics about how you spending money. General statistics should be publicly available, where experts can review, critic and improve the results. 3) Tagged money, which means you can buy only particular types of products with that money. e.g. Tagged money for grocery, or tagged money for cooked food, or tagged money for education which gets transferred to the seller in untagged form. Possibilities are limitless. 4) Tagged money comes with validity, it will disappear or gets returned to government after its validity is over (e.g. one month) 5) Also, untagged money which can be used to buy anything. 6) Account should be linked to Adhaar. Only one-time link, not a problem Adhaar critics. ): Example Design: ????? > Every people of the country pay about 18% of their income as taxes, everyone deserves the basic social security irrespective of social status. |

| body | Universal Basic Income is a welfare regime in which all citizens (or permanent residents) of a country receive a regular, liveable and unconditional sum of money, from the government. The central claim that UBI tries to solve is the end of poverty and financial insecurity by the indsicriminatory supply of free money which can be exchanged to buy your basic need requirements. But the problem lies with execution and design that nullify the damaging possibilities speculated by the critics. Speculation: It disincentivizes people to work, so can create an adverse condition for wealth creation. A proposed elaborative solution: Morally, the basic required need for survival such as food, clothing, the shelter is not incentives. Its a fundamental right of the people. But biologically, these are the incentives to pacify our hunger or appetite. Food, clothing, shelter are basic needs for survival, but we need a lot more for thriving. One of the essentials to thrive is education that nourishes our memory to build [mental models](https://medium.com/@yegg/mental-models-i-find-repeatedly-useful-936f1cc405d) for making intelligent decisions. (https://medium.com/@yegg/mental-models-i-find-repeatedly-useful-936f1cc405d) > So a deal here, to survive you have to thrive, in other words, you will get the basic incentives, only if you like to thrive. Divide the UBI into two parts. One part will be unconditional income but insufficient to meet your basic needs. Another part will be conditional, given only if you join a course for learning (e.g. parenting, cooking, science) or you are working. | body | Why question designing should be brain-friendly and cue based? Evidence: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ErkXSWrQWfc/Woe9pYNgUCI/AAAAAAAAC_o/zkEHB0pQNoMlwP7gDnAcL0Os7ZIYRx73wCLcBGAs/s640/Screenshot%2Bfrom%2B2018-02-17%2B10-55-58.png Applying Science of Learning in Education (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) We make up stories, Memory is reconstructive not reproductive https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-85gzLF3c8-0/Woe_SAZvt0I/AAAAAAAAC_0/k_Q1ykpSgPoYaGMlZoBTZFZGoBxSy8c4gCLcBGAs/s640/Screenshot%2Bfrom%2B2018-02-13%2B00-36-57.png Reference Video https://www.ibiology.org/neuroscience/what-we-think-we-become/ Examples of cue based questions and without cue based questions: https://technoperiod.blogspot.in/2017/02/cbse-and-other-boards-all-about-rote.html At present our education system asks to reproduce the text and problems of books. Our education system should value the limitations of our brains and should be reconstructive. Books can also be cue based or reconstructive that encourages learning with growth mindset. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qRcjByl_fSQ/WogfMrP7DZI/AAAAAAAADAc/bO8VTiI04k4vwbf2yGFD0MlBiInIn_qNQCLcBGAs/s640/cue_based.png Chemistry Concepts and Learning by Clifford C. Houk and Richard Post Cues can also be given during retrieval practice or formative assessment, but after students have made enough effort for retrieval. Using retrieval practice or questions with changing the cues or context will make memory context-free and take care of cue-dependent forgetting. Cue-dependent forgetting, or retrieval failure, is the failure to recall information without memory cues. The term either pertains to semantic cues, state-dependent cues or context-dependent cues. -- Wikipedia https://github.com/amiyatulu/flashcard Boosting Metacognition through In-Class Assessments http://www.improvewithmetacognition.com/boosting-metacognition-through-in-class-assessments/ Take another example of the designing question: 1) Why are Mn2+ compounds more stable than Fe2+ towards oxidation to their +3 state? 2) Why are Mn2+ compounds more stable than Fe2+ towards oxidation to their +3 state? Answer using the periodic table. The purpose of the first question is to check rote memorization of the periodic table, as well understanding about the stability of half filled orbitals. But the second question checks your understanding, without the need to rote memorize the periodic table. What if the student could solve the second question, not the first one. Does he/she is less knowledgeable or bad problem solver than the student who could solve the first question? |

Our education system should value the limitations of our brains and should be reconstructive.\n\n\n\nBooks can also be cue based or reconstructive that encourages learning with growth mindset.\n\nhttps://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qRcjByl_fSQ/WogfMrP7DZI/AAAAAAAADAc/bO8VTiI04k4vwbf2yGFD0MlBiInIn_qNQCLcBGAs/s640/cue_based.png\n\n\n\nChemistry Concepts and Learning by Clifford C. Using retrieval practice or questions with changing the cues or context will make memory context-free and take care of cue-dependent forgetting.\n\n\n\nCue-dependent forgetting, or retrieval failure, is the failure to recall information without memory cues. The term either pertains to semantic cues, state-dependent cues or context-dependent cues.\n\n-- Wikipedia\n\n\n\nhttps://github.com/amiyatulu/flashcard\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBoosting Metacognition through In-Class Assessments\n\nhttp://www.improvewithmetacognition.com/boosting-metacognition-through-in-class-assessments/\n\n\n\n\n\nTake another example of the designing question:\n\n\n\n1) Why are Mn2+ compounds more stable than Fe2+ towards oxidation to their +3 state?\n\n2) Why are Mn2+ compounds more stable than Fe2+ towards oxidation to their +3 state? Answer using the periodic table.\n\n\n\nThe purpose of the first question is to check rote memorization of the periodic table, as well understanding about the stability of half filled orbitals.\n\n\n\nBut the second question checks your understanding, without the need to rote memorize the periodic table.\n\n\nWhat if the student could solve the second question, not the first one.
