      "body": "Have you ever seen a growing waterfall?\nI suppose it may not even be that uncommon, but it was the first time I saw one (or maybe was aware of this special fact). Over the years this waterfall has grown to over 6 m in height and is a relatively rare sight to behold in this part of the country.\n\nDuring the construction of a railway line in 1912, some water streams were combined which led to the creation of the waterfall. The heavy growth of mosses, together with diatoms accelerate the growth of the waterfall by increasing the surface area and binding precipitating lime. Apparently this amounts to around 4,500 kg per year! Due to its constant growth, the moss escapes encrustation with carbonate on its surface.       "body": "When I visited the eastern part of Austria in spring this year the storks were building and enhancing their nests and therefore they flew a lot to find perfect wooden sticks to enhance their nests. It is nice watching such big birds flying above your head and being awaited by their partners in the nest. They have a greeting ceremony with their beak that is really nice to watch and listen. The waiting partner greets the returning partner with a loud click click of their beak and when the returning one positioned its stick they both raise their heads back to make this clicking sound with their beaks together.\n\nI also saw a similar behavior of the northern gannets when they brought back some food or nesting material from their journey on the open ocean in Helgoland.       "body": "It's a long way from Hong Kong to my own kitchen in Quezon City, working as a seller in the Philippines. But there is some progress:\n\nToday was a big Puto Cheese day - I sell like a pro, hehe, just kidding! I made a whole batch: some for a birthday order that came in (thank you, ate!), and the rest I sold on my own, one by one, to pedestrians near my area and neighbors. Every single piece sold felt like a small victory. I am starting to enjoy it again when the steam is rising from the pots and the smell of fresh puto fills the house, and I am looking forward to more.\n\nI won't sugarcoat it though: being the maker, the seller, AND the clean-up crew all at once is no joke. After steaming batch after batch, arranging them nicely, packing orders, and then scrubbing the kitchen my legs were tired and my back was complaining. But I am here for all of it — puto by puto, day by day.\n\nTo everyone who ordered, shares my post, or even just cheered me on: salamat po.       "body": "This was a winter weekend to remember! It started with absolutely freezing temperatures (-50 Celsius at 5,000 feet and -20 at surface with a -30 Windchill) on Friday and it stayed similar on Saturday. Then yesterday it started snowing at 8a.m. and didn't end until midnight.\n\nTypically in a storm like this, I would have been out enjoying it. But I'm almost over a bad flu, so I didn't want to push it.
