      "body": "The most productive financial decision I made this week was the one to pay my rent by all means necessary. This month the necessary means included selling my truck. I'm not upset about it because it hasn't moved since I bought it and I don't have the time or money to work on it. I have eaten local food and such but not much because I haven't had the money. I have had to be pretty frugal and that breeds culinary creativity. I wish I could accurately paint a picture for you of my supervisor's face as I was at work making ramen noodles. One packet of chicken ramen noodles, a packet of mustard, and a tablespoon of peanut butter will make a pretty decent meal. In other news, I also made pork fried rice featuring \"real\" bacon bits and frozen green beans.\n\nI often find that this is the hardest time to shop local. The ability to come and go as I please from anywhere that I choose to be at any given time is a rich privilege that I can't wait to have again. \n\n# I am getting pallets  for the raised beds today.",

      "body": "# Today I am working.\n\nI am the picture of diligence, dedication, and corporate loyalty as I sit here in my cubicle pouring over documents and typing furiously into an inconspicuous word document. My cubicle is clean enough and organized for functionality rather than fashion. My clients are happy and my work is always caught up. I'm used to having **dirt** and **a yard** and stuff. I'm starting completely over again and I'm trying to do things as simplistically as possible. I've been saving my rabbits' poop all winter for compost and I've made arrangements to get sand/clay/straw and pallets for the cob raised beds I'm hoping to make. I've honestly really drug my feet on those and I really need to get my stuff together if I'm going to have a chance of getting them done before it's time to get plants in the ground. \n\nToday it smelled like dirt outside. It smelled like dirt and the sun was out and I spent the majority of my hour lunch laying on a picnic table outside my workplace listening to music and soaking up the warmth and happiness radiating from the sky. As someone who fights the annual fight against Seasonal Affective Disorder, I am grateful for the change. The only downside is that as soon as Mother Nature flips her switch, I feel both giddy and overwhelmed about getting my garden done, as I do right now. I'm making a chart of what to start indoors (and when), when to transplant, and what/when to direct-sow in the raised beds. I'm going to make my own tray for starting what I can indoors on a table in my living room in the next few days. Most importantly, I'm going to get serious about getting these containers done. If I don't have a place to plant, I'm not going to have a garden at all this year and that is exactly what I have been trying to avoid. \n\nI really can't wait to be able to share pictures with you all about what my garden is going to look like this year. It's not going to be the biggest or most impressive garden I've ever done but it will be a garden planted in the face of adversity and it will be one to be especially proud of.       "body": "# This week was expensive. \n\nSince I can't get my vision, dental, health, life, short-term, and long-term disability from local insurance companies, I decided to do the next best thing and see only local providers. While I don't think this is any more expensive than visiting large practices, I chose to miss as little work as possible and get all of my appointments done on the same day and *that* was expensive. I got an eye exam and glasses, x-rays and an exam of my teeth, and a full panel of blood work done and my co-pays were not cheap. If it wasn't for that, I think I would be doing pretty well financially this week. \n\nI also bought ~~lots and lots of~~ food. We won't even get into that. \n\nI have some other exciting stuff coming up. I think I found a free option for the perfect sand/clay dirt needed for the cob planters I've been procrastinating on. I'm looking for ward to getting that started ASAP. I might even have some people who are willing to help me.       "body": "Excellent! Even before I began my adventure in mindful consumerism (#shopsmalllivebig), I have always either been really poor or really cheap - often both. That means that I have spent less than $200 to furnish my entire apartment. I take it a bit further than just shopping second hand, however. I like to go junkin' and watch for evictions, foreclosures, and even the dorm clean-outs since I live in a college town. I have gotten thousands of dollars worth of stuff for my house absolutely free. I'm a stickler for cleanliness on these items but overall they've served me very well.",
