| body | Great article, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I also think these belts are a good choice for EDC (everyday carry) because they hold their shape and don't sag under load. Nexbelt actually has a dedicated category for just such applications, with reinforced materials and a more rigid construction. <a href="https://www.nexbelt.com/">Belts that don't wear out?</a> Those are definitely Nexbelt belts. |

| title | My first grade Grandson loves Algebra. |
| body | I got my grandson a dry erase board for Christmas. He was running out of chalkboard space for his equations. My Daughter asked him about his dog Lincoln whining (he wanted food); and this is the result. He timed Lincoln's whining and.... He calculated that Lincoln was going to whine 120 times in the next day. BTW, this dachshund is pretty spoiled. Here's the culprit: I especially like the cancelation of the hour term in the equation, as it shows that he understands how to use Algebra to get real world answers! He didn't show his Momma his work, this was for His own use.... Here's my first grade Algebra whiz (in the sun glasses): They're having problems keeping up with him at school! He reads everything he can get his hands on, so school is more to see friends than learn. He inherited my love of rocks: So when he found out that there is other stuff inside some, he went mining for crystals. I got to get him some geodes now, ROFLOL! I taught him how to extract square roots, then told him about cubed roots. He's having a blast! He started solving simultaneous equations by himself, and Dad called me to ask if it was valid. He sent me some pictures, and he nailed it! He's going to be a handful...I think I'll explain Calculus next. He'll love that! His mind is a sponge right now, and Math is his toy.... |

| title | Sunday the homeless meal went very well! |
| body | The last Sunday of every month we feed the homeless here in Tulsa. This time we fed 102 meals, and it ran smoothly! The volunteers are experienced, and can run the whole thing without direction. We got pizza donated from pizza hut: With the requested macaroni and cheese that we serve every month. Chili and corn is popular: We assemble foam carry out trays two at a time. These are assembled into boxes based on what we know how many live at each camp. Here's the green bean casserole and the chicken Alfredo; We have requests for these, so we serve it often! The macaroni and cheese is another by request item. She puts cream cheese and straight cream in it so it really pops! Here's two volunteers boxing up food: A lot of logistics go into this part. It's common to have several deliveries sent by one car. They must be right, and the 'close' ones are loaded together! We throw in the desserts here, and send a 5 gallon container of tea or lemonade (we fill a lot of drink bottles too). We usually have 3 delivery drivers, with a ride along to help them unload. With about 2 trip each, we have it covered pretty well! I apologize for the half full roasters, I usually take the pictures before we begin serving. Here I just forgot the pictures, until we slowed after the first 60 or so! The volunteers have become skilled enough that most of the conversations are just visiting and catching up. So they have a good time on top of getting the homeless fed! They come from four different churches, and three different denominations; but they've become good friends doing this meal together. We work out of a food bank leased by one of the churches, so we have a roof over our heads! We served under a pair of canopies for about a decade, and had all the fun with bad weather I want. Very glad to be under cover now, we 'enjoyed' temperatures from 18°F to 110°F under those canopies! My big worry, is as the economy continues to tank, more will need this kind of help! Can we keep up with the increased loading? In the past we fed close to 300, but that's significantly more difficult...and we're out of practice. We are gaining about 5 a month, hard to plan for a moving target! Be blessed! |

| body | I didn't see this one coming! It makes sense that real estate investors would be concerned, because everything they do is now subject to the same possible fines! Here, a major speculator is not building in NYC: https://youtu.be/JzNXq1u36gs?feature=shared His claim of increased pressure from his investors to avoid such high legal risk areas; makes sense to me. This one surprised me, because I just hadn't thought of it yet.... He is building a multi-Billipn dollar data center, and it can apparently go wherever it has good power, and can high speed Internet connect! This is a 500 job company, with several thousand support jobs also needed, so NYC just lost 2500 new jobs tied directly because of this legal president, from this one investor! In the video he talks about loser and winner states. He links that status to liberal or conservative policies. On the loser side, it is clearer to me if I look at it as a company budget. Any indirect job, while supporting company function, produces no product; so it's placed in the overhead side of the ledger. This type of job, like managers, engineers, janitors, warehouse people, and shipping staff; while necessary, dont produce direct income. A healthy company minimizes these jobs (while retaining needed staffing), to increase profits, that adds to the company's health. Politicians and their policies are pure overhead!!! Overhead is a good description, if we consider Willie Coyote. I was sent this sign picture, so I am Not sure where it came from...but I'd Love to know! I'd like to visit, after reading the fine print on the sign. So back to overhead, picture it as an anvil ready to fall. Then understand that in NYC that fine was 100+time larger than any past fine, which ironically makes it illegal by NY State Laws. But now look up, and make that anvil 100 times larger; just before it drops! This is what real estate specilators, and other investors are seeing! Whatever funds they control, or partners invest; that money just needs to be used where a decent return can be expected. From what he pointed out, people no longer feel that NYC will provide a decent return; due to increased legal risks! He is apparently shifted building plans for this project to Oklahoma, stating that it's legally safe; and a Winner State! Big projects leaving, will hurt much more that the purchasing boycotts, and truckers shunning them. So move out to your homestead, and get out of NYC...before that large anvil falls! |

| title | Truck drivers boycott (effectively mooning) NY state; as is their Constitutional right! |
| body | You can only push so far, and the other shoe will fall! Now we get see if the man sitting in the oval office (or his handlers), will try to be as big a Tyrant as the Worm to our north.... Truckers are refusing loads to NYC: https://youtube.com/shorts/ltvBWBmnv7Y?feature=shared Based on the exhorbitent fine NY levied against President Trump, which violate NY law (the largest fine to date was 3 million dollars) by it's very amount; and Truckers just say NO! I personally have never met a liberal trucker. There may be a few up in blue states, but not enough to carry the needed freight! I've heard they are looking for replacement drivers (haven't found this story yet) but it makes sense to look for options. Since it takes 8 to 16 weeks to train a driver, and here they run them with an experienced driver for 3 to 6 months, to sand the rough edges off; I suspect that solution won't help much. And any they do "find" will be a novice driver, driving an 18 wheeler in NYC traffic...what could possibly go wrong??? They will bring in the national guard soon to move food. They should think about the load rating on a combat truck. They used to call them a duece and a half, because they could carry 5000 pounds. In combat this is Smart, because it makes many small targets for dirt road running! These truckers that are driving elsewhere now, can easily move 10 times that much weight, and they are faster. I just pray they figure out how to supply this ultra Blue city, before cannibalism raises it's ugly head! They have already taught them that life is Cheap, which is why the homicides continue to climb there...so it's a small step to canabalism for those who are hungry that think they are so wise, and totally entitled!!! I pray for the safety of the intelligent ones, while they find a safe place to move to! I'm educating a new neighbor from California, for the last 2 years. He's coming along (he's stopped asking permission to do things in his own front yard); and even got himself a couple of firearms! Need to get him out to the range, so he'll be safer with what he bought. So I guess I'm ready for an intelligent one from NYC to move in for training now. These truckers are independent contractors, and are showing a lot of spine; because this will reduce their business income. The ones that live out of their trucks, can also just leave; and find work anywhere! Take an over the road load, and they'll even pay you gas to leave! That will leave the ones that are tied there, enough business outside of NY State; to be okay! The liberals will start passing regulations soon, to try to force these truckers to do as they are told! They think (sorry I know they don't actually think) that government regulation can fix everything! Might be a good time for these truckers, to fifth wheel an RV, and go on vacation.... The force they will try to use, will be like the force the Canadian Tyrant used up north on people I Still respect! They should keep in mind, that US truckers are not disarmed like they managed up there. Canadian truckers parked their rigs. They tried to come take their private property, to move freight; and they just moved the trucks and hid them. This is still causing them problems up there! Unfortunately Tyrants must be tyrannical: https://blurt.blog/freedom/@drutter/trudeau-s-political-prisoners As we are still illegally holding political prisoners from January 6th; they are also holding innocent MEN in Canada! In both cases, they are in jail for their political views; and that's illegal in both countries! This post was written by a good friend in Canada, and he's spot on! This is, incidentally, exactly what the national socialist did in Germany in the 1930's! They are trying the next step, to jail their opposition; which also happened back then. Canada is one step ahead of the US, they took all firearms already; with the second amendment here, it is just a liberal dream, but the Nazis did it first! I'm adding a few pictures for the MAN who wore this article, because he has a boy that loves heavy equipment. First the Gator he can drive, if he can reach the pedals: The skid steer unloaded and under repair and maintenance: The skid steer, loaded to come home: Hope he enjoys!!!? Now for the planning...stay legal guys; FIRST, I'd like a good source to send assistance cash to these truckers, that the government can't just sop up! SECOND, We need to scream bloody murder to Every politician we can find, to release the political prisoners held illegally (no right to a speedy trial here, obviously) from January 6th! THIRD, This last one is the most important; buy Nothing from NY State, until this is resolved!!!! If we do this for All online purchases, it will hurt more that the embargo can; by shutting down one more source of funding to the NY Communist party (called the dnc)! They make a lot of tax money from online purchases. I plan to add them to the rubbish heap where I threw china! Get to their purse strings, which is our legal right (at least for now); and they will begin to worry!!!! I buy industrial repair parts, so I plan to cause a rumpus there too! This online Shunning won't cause as much disruption in the short term; but long term income damage will affect policy! I have a handful of good friends in NY State, but they are preppers; not living in NYC thank GOD, so they'll be fine! If they run short, there's always the one price box at the post office, I can back them up! They will be passing regulations within the next fortnight; after they find that drivers don't grow on trees! Then they will begin trying to seize rigs. I prefer the Canadian option of just hiding them; for the ones who haven't already left. Please (no matter how tempting, and legal it is) do not start shooting! Hiding works, and it wastes their time. I have at least four spots truck drivers can use to hide their truck, if they get in a bind! These truckers are the kind of people I like to sit down to dinner with.... Any who can, should find hiding spots to help too, I'm not very close (Oklahoma). |

| body | We used to go to the greenhouse when the garden tomatoes came in. They pulled out all their vines and replanted, so that when the gardens quit; theirs were ready. The let us pick all the green tomatoes we wanted! We stored them in the basement, and pull the rope ones as they turned. The last time I helped on this, we canned 748 quarts of tomatoes. With a family of 8, we are them up before the next years canning. I've heard the short term recommendation before, and for the best nutrition it's true. But some of those jars are what my Brother (who bought the house) ate when he found them four decades later! He said they smelled just like they did when they were first canned.... Now I'm sure they weren't as packed with vitamins, but he enjoyed them! I told him not to eat them, but he already had. Spaghetti sauce is a favorite here, and I make it myself. The case of canned tomatoes, was for a big batch of sauce for the homeless meal. One of GOD's little jokes that home canned, lasts better than Ƨommercialy canned tomatoes |

| body | It is fairly easy to grow tomatoes. One can even grow them indoors or in homemade greenhouses during the winter months. The traditional problem with tomatoes is that they often ripen at the same time. People end up with way too many tomatoes at the end of the season. The tradition of canning tomatoes is short term preservation. BTW: Many people make spaghetti sauces. There might be some sauces that do well over time. |

| title | The worst vegetable to stack in your prepping supplies. |
| body | When prepping, the first step most people it she is to buy canned food for storage. Nothing wrong with starting here, I did myself. There is one commercially canned vegetable that does not store well on the shelf in prepping supplies. Tomatoes have too much acid to last well in a can, and they end up spoiling. The can then domes up: You can see doming here on this can. All types of commercially canned tomatoes seem to have this problem. So if you decide to prep with 'off the shelf' spaghetti sauce, be sure and buy it in a glass jar! The way not to prep: These cans are not for prepping, so don't worry, they were for the homeless meal! But Do Not put this on the shelf...when you need it, it will be spoiled. Fortunately, tomatoes are easy to preserve at home: My preferred method is to dehydrate sliced tomatoes (this includes sun dried), put them into a canning jar, and pull a hard vacuum on them. This method allows them to be stored for decades with little loss in nutrition. They are moisture independent, and temperature extremes do not affect them. I still store them in the dark, just to keep them as fresh as possible. I find that 8 pounds of cherry tomatoes will fit in a one quart jar, so it's space frugal too. As a side note, once dehydrated, mylar bags and oxygen absorbers (if you have the equipment); will preserve the tomatoes as well as the jars, except for mice problems. I will address pest problems in another post, but vermin problems should always be in the back of your mind! Another good way to preserve tomatoes is by pressure canning (or open kettle if you're good). It must be stored in temperate conditions in the dark, but I know of some that were stored this way for 40 years, that were still editable! Light will rob vitamins, and they can freeze; but this is the least expensive way to preserve tomatoes long term, as it's the simplest equipment. The last good way to store tomatoes is by freeze drying. This equipment is expensive, but retains most of the nutrients intact. The product can be stored like the dehydrated tomatoes are stored, and is long term stable. I haven't seen a good comparison of nutrition, between the dehydrated and the freeze dried tomatoes; but I suspect they are similar! I have deliberately omitted the freezing option, because the grid can't be counted on when really prepping! Anything in a freezer must be eaten, or lost in short order. As a result, freezing is not a viable prepping storage method in my humble opinion! Do you have another preferred method of preservation? Please add it in the comments. |
