bodyhttps://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/2000/1*qUNFV-WlYH1lmjv46DwY0Q.png Cryptocurrencies increase in value with more adoption. So we can make a general assumption that the more users of a particular cryptocurrency the more valuable that crypotcurrency should be. This follows something called Metcalfe’s Law. Metcalfe’s law states the effect of a telecommunications network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system. https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/600/0*gUUbnhrX-c-nEYWn.png The word value can be seen as utility or usefulness of a product/service. Cryptocurrencies all have volatile prices, but they all have a slowly changing value. Prices can be set by market forces of supply and demand but value is set by the utility of a product/service and the amount of users utilizing such service. How can we calculate the value of the cryptocurrency industry? The following list seems to be possible quantifiable points: - How much usage is there in cryptocurrency charts? - How much usage is there in cryptocurrency exchanges? - How much usage is there in decentralized apps? We will get these values with the help of SimilarWeb and several popular cryptocurrency resources, must have a minimum of a million page views a month. We will compare the past six months of performance with the data provided by SimilarWeb. ## Cryptocurrency Pricing Charts https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*hLTfviKv6KY0ppU51LTj5w.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*3JCIZwVteC4XvbWnRarKYg.png The market cap of all the cryptocurrencies have been dropping and the market sentiment is clearly bearish. This bear market started near January 2018 and the data above shows the frequency usage of both websites. The trend is definitely downwards and it doesn’t seem to be increasing any time soon. Coin Market Cap is one of the most famous resources when it comes to knowing the sentiment of the market. It even gets more views than the most popular exchanges. ## Cryptocurrency Exchanges https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*BdRKflwmJ-fatApkB4coYQ.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*SDXldiSPmk6vBCCVZTLx2g.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*NrDPDlqXrT1vdnPMAcvh8Q.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*87VkDH-707qnvTTapwaWig.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*5FFspWRcyChMrOtKE1IAgw.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*D0No8CzA1qLDQ6N5Jm-FRQ.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*SJu2khoX7jtueFeG7eby8w.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*8mhLKs0d75BLmNZ2MN-RKw.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*03yxQQaw3EzopIQNkZz97w.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*ceOC2mnaiHYxsWIlKDqIRw.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*ZsRPKEMNWniXTPqLrDihHw.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*U9KIDwu6tz1mt7VJ8nwnyQ.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*mtZgp6rzZrITDRreZzb9BQ.png Out of these exchanges Coinbase, BitMEX, and Upbit have had a positive mark on their usage. However, what is really interesting is BitMEX’s usage. From February to July 2018 you can see that it’s usage has doubled. This could be due to the bear market that we are in and BitMEX ability to provide leverage and shorts. The people that were making money before January 2018 were the Hodlers but the people that were making money from this past 6 months are those that shorted Bitcoin. If you notice the average visit duration of the exchanges you can see that people make a couple of trades and then get off the platform they are using. On BitMEX, users are staying on the platform for more than 30 minutes on average. BitMEX users do a lot on the platform maybe even 3x as much or either look at the fluctuations more often than other exchanges. Coinbase has seen an increase in usage as well but not as much as BitMEX. It is most likely due to the run up that led Bitcoin to as high as $8,000. However, it appears that Bitcoin is back under $6,500. Bitcoin has gained market dominance back over 50%, according to Coin Market Cap. ## Blockchain Explorers https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*o0b8r1C_hsaSkEOgTmLSWg.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*fdPYiKoreklaJr7FkaiwzA.png Etherscan is a very well known Ethereum blockchain explorer. Since there are several Bitcoin explorers I chose to display Blockchain.info because of it’s change. Blockchain.info lost 75% of it’s traffic from June to July 2018. Even back in February both of these block explorers had the same amount of usage. With these charts we could infer that there are several transactions happening on the Ethereum blockchain while not as many transactions on Bitcoin’s blockchain compared to the month of June 2018. ## Decentralized Apps https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*pRNFwZ92pJIKMt5XuvgOhg.png https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*ZV03Gi7jfbb-OEeaf4pQ0w.png When it comes to decentralized apps Steemit takes the crown. It has actually increased in usage from June to July 2018. Steemit makes it easy to understand how a decentralized app is possible. Maybe the usage of Steemit has “bottomed” and we will see more Steemit adoption from here on. Other dApps like d.tube keep losing usage in contrast to competitors like centralized Youtube. Maybe users are caring more about the content that is created on these platforms. Competing against Youtube for content seems like a tough battle but competing against Medium for content seems like an easier battle. ## Conclusion These are the numbers for the cryptocurrency industry but of course there are other values I haven’t included because I either thought their usage count was too low or I though they were too obscure to discover. Since there is a big increase in usage for BitMEX compared to several other exchanges I can see that the entire industry isn’t collapsing. BitMEX’s usage can be seen more as a cycle for what speculative traders do during bear markets. BitMEX users do a lot on the platform maybe even 3x as much or either look at the fluctuations more often than other exchanges.\n\nCoinbase has seen an increase in usage as well but not as much as BitMEX. It is most likely due to the run up that led Bitcoin to as high as $8,000. However, it appears that Bitcoin is back under $6,500. Bitcoin has gained market dominance back over 50%, according to Coin Market Cap.\n\n## Blockchain Explorers\n\nhttps://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*o0b8r1C_hsaSkEOgTmLSWg.png\n\nhttps://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*fdPYiKoreklaJr7FkaiwzA.png\n\nEtherscan is a very well known Ethereum blockchain explorer. Since there are several Bitcoin explorers I chose to display Blockchain.info because of it’s change. Blockchain.info lost 75% of it’s traffic from June to July 2018. Even back in February both of these block explorers had the same amount of usage. With these charts we could infer that there are several transactions happening on the Ethereum blockchain while not as many transactions on Bitcoin’s blockchain compared to the month of June 2018.\n\n## Decentralized Apps\n\nhttps://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*pRNFwZ92pJIKMt5XuvgOhg.png\n\nhttps://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*ZV03Gi7jfbb-OEeaf4pQ0w.png\n\nWhen it comes to decentralized apps Steemit takes the crown. It has actually increased in usage from June to July 2018. Steemit makes it easy to understand how a decentralized app is possible. Maybe the usage of Steemit has “bottomed” and we will see more Steemit adoption from here on. Other dApps like d.tube keep losing usage in contrast to competitors like centralized Youtube.\n\nMaybe users are caring more about the content that is created on these platforms. Competing against Youtube for content seems like a tough battle but competing against Medium for content seems like an easier battle.\n\n## Conclusion \n\nThese are the numbers for the cryptocurrency industry but of course there are other values I haven’t included because I either thought their usage count was too low or I though they were too obscure to discover.\n\nSince there is a big increase in usage for BitMEX compared to several other exchanges I can see that the entire industry isn’t collapsing. BitMEX’s usage can be seen more as a cycle for what speculative traders do during bear markets.\n\nIf you liked this content, be sure to follow the Metamesh publication and check out what we are building! Metamesh is a product sharing application that makes selling your crypto products much easier and will take your crypto brand to the next level.",

body
Debt, no one wants it, most of us have it and we hate it.
Debt has acquired a bad reputation over the years. Its excessive and unstoppable growth worries all of us. Consumer debt has been on the rise due to the low interest rates, specially on car loans and student loans. Ideally, consumer debt could help a student afford an education they normally couldn’t afford and have a better job after graduating. This leads to an upward cycle in the overall economy by having more productive individuals thanks to their education. On the other hand, business debt is seen as a form of investment in a company. This debt can be used to develop or grow a company and even in some cases, to create it. Debt is the easiest and cheapest way of financing a company. Equity is usually costly and risky because there is no assurance of the creation of value by that company and even for successful founders it is cheaper to take on debt than to give up equity in the long run. A graph on investment over time is below: Gross private investment adjusted for inflation
No more debt experiment
Lets say however that today is a magical day and consumer and investment debt disappears. Poof! Banks are not lending anymore, but now you want to create a company, and to fuel investments the money has to come from your individual savings or your family’s savings. Hopefully that’s enough money because there are no more institutions to finance growth. If the funds aren’t enough for your business venture, then the dream of having a company are gone. The other option is to seek investment from external sources. A system must then be created to have people invest their savings where those individuals are incentivized to do so for a greater return instead of remaining with their savings. In other words you will need to know the cost of money in the future, that’s what we currently call interest rates. Interest rates not only help to plan investment but helps to plan for future living expenses.
Bitcoin World
Let’s say that in this World, banks no longer lend money and everything operates on Bitcoin. Yes! Finally bitcoin. Lets run the same scenario where you’re looking for money for your company. You ask family and friends but they are not sure on how much of a benefit they are operating in. How much interest rates in bitcoin changes. Specially with the Hodl culture and the network effects on bitcoin, most people would prefer to keep their bitcoin than to spend it even if its for your company. Ultimately, it will be less risky to hold on to bitcoin. The current problem with bitcoin in the economy is it’s fixed supply, adding to the uncertainty of its cost in the future. Why? The fixed supply is seen as an advantage for most people, that way debt can’t be created out of thin air. The minuscule problem is that the current economy operates on debt. Growth in the economy is fueled by investments and investments are fuel by debt. This debt is possible due to knowing the target cost of money in the future, interest rates. Interest rates then depend on inflation. Debt helps to create future value making us hopeful of the economy creating more value in the future; psychology plays an important role in current economic system. The only way of comparing an economy with a fixed supply of money is with the gold standard. The gold standard failed partly because the value of the economy at that time will depend on the amount of gold held,(In the current economy value is created at the rate of debt). Gold being a scare resource, the economy growth then would be peg to gold. That means that value could only be created at the rate in which gold supply increased. Even if aggregate output was created under this system this will lead to other problems. The difference is that under bitcoin, problems could be more severe because value would be more rigid to a supply that could never grow unlike gold. For instance, no one knows how much gold exists in the world and planets/meteors within our reach. However, we all know that there is only 21 million bitcoins and that won’t change. This would create a deflationary spiral because no matter the amount of value that is created such as, the amount of people that are born or the level of employment, the supply will stay the same; making people to hold more causing less purchasing of product, causing less creation of future products in factories, causing laid offs and ultimately income inequality. The Hodlers will be massively rich and the people being born or without much bitcoin will always have a disadvantage. To prevent this scenario we have inflation. The consensus is that Inflation is bad and interest rates change every year to a target benchmark of 2%. A magic number than no one knows where it came from and was recently established on January of 2012. The truth is, inflation doesn’t exist in the long run. Inflation is a lie, inflation is only a place holder for changing prices that in the long run drives income up . In other words, yes things are more expensive but your income grows over time. With a goal of anyone with a bare income, no matter when they were born or enter the economic system, to be able to afford the bare necessities of living. Different from a fixed supply in which entering the economic system at a later point will be an extreme disadvantage. Household debt Service Payments as a percent of Disposable Personal Income At the end of the day its crucial to understand that a fixed supply system like bitcoin operating in the current economic system, doesn’t work. The current system has a lot of debt but personal income is overlooked. In the graph above it depicts how household’s debt has become a lower part of the overall income after all their expenses. Debt used properly, fuels investment and growth. No one really knows about the effects of bitcoin working in a different economic system. It is imperative to not only have the overall use of bitcoin in the economy but to understand how this system could be a better economic environment for future generations were growth doesn’t depend on debt. I hold bitcoin and the idea of a better tomorrow. I also understand that the explanation given makes massive assumptions and that economic theory is not an exact science, but I will be happy to discuss other possible models by changing the assumptions above. In the next Article I will discuss how bitcoin could be introduced in the World economy partially as an exchange mechanism on the current economic system with fiat currencies.

A magic number than no one knows where it came from and was recently established on January of 2012.\n\nThe truth is, inflation doesn’t exist in the long run.\n\nInflation is a lie, inflation is only a place holder for changing prices that in the long run drives income up . In other words, yes things are more expensive but your income grows over time. With a goal of anyone with a bare income, no matter when they were born or enter the economic system, to be able to afford the bare necessities of living. Different from a fixed supply in which entering the economic system at a later point will be an extreme disadvantage.\n\n\nHousehold debt Service Payments as a percent of Disposable Personal Income\n\nAt the end of the day its crucial to understand that a fixed supply system like bitcoin operating in the current economic system, doesn’t work. The current system has a lot of debt but personal income is overlooked. In the graph above it depicts how household’s debt has become a lower part of the overall income after all their expenses. Debt used properly, fuels investment and growth. No one really knows about the effects of bitcoin working in a different economic system. It is imperative to not only have the overall use of bitcoin in the economy but to understand how this system could be a better economic environment for future generations were growth doesn’t depend on debt.\n\nI hold bitcoin and the idea of a better tomorrow. I also understand that the explanation given makes massive assumptions and that economic theory is not an exact science, but I will be happy to discuss other possible models by changing the assumptions above. In the next Article I will discuss how bitcoin could be introduced in the World economy partially as an exchange mechanism on the current economic system with fiat currencies.",

body A seed stage startup point of view. As a startup founder, I asked myself this from the get go. Since we are in the cryptocurrency space why not do an ICO to fundraise our seed round. My startup, Metamesh, thought long and hard about this decision and we argued about how easy it would be to fundraise a token with actual utility. After some research, we decided not to do an ICO from the beginning because we asked ourselves.
“Do we want to build a great product that helps people solve a problem, or do we want to just fundraise a ton of money?”
Metamesh is currently bootstrapping its development to create a minimum viable product (bootstrapping is not easy to do). We have decided to put off fundraising until we can prove our idea of a product sharing app for the cryptocurrency community. Fundraising a seed round with an ICO is a hit or miss.
Startups vs Blockchain Projects
Several great projects started off as ICOs. For example, Ethereum, IOTA, and EOS where all ICOs and they are all promising technologies. However, they are technologies not startups. Startups rely on revenue where technologies do not. These blockchain technologies rely on their use and application. Startups have business models that leverage technologies to earn revenue. So if you decide to do an ICO you better tie your token in your business model. You also better earn dollars and not Satoshis because dollars are required for wages and expenses. Then you have another dilemma.
Equity valuation vs token valuation
So if someone invests in a token, they don’t get a share of the company, they gain future usage of your token. If someone invests in your equity, they don’t gain usage of your token or platform, they gain future profits of your company. Sure, you can package a equity/token deal with investors but they’re still both investors. Then you have to balance your token valuation vs equity valuation and why one is higher than the other. While you’re juggling with that, you need to focus on creating a product that you promised to build. Too bad if you anger one of your token/equity investors on why one valuation is higher than the other, be prepared for a lawsuit. This all sounds like a headache to begin with so why even do it?
Decentralization of investment opportunities
The good thing about ICOs is that anyone can participate. You can have foreign investors from countries you have never heard about and they truly care for the product you are building. Most startup funding is concentrated in the San Francisco/Bay Area and you need to be approved by these investors to receive funding rounds. I went to eMerge Americas 2018 this past April and VCs are looking at the cryptocurrency space with complete skepticism. So ICOs do decentralize investment opportunities allowing more than just VCs and angel investors to be able to participate on these opportunities. Kantian Fairness aside, you need to focus on one thing. Your product! <img src=https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*[email protected]" />
Don’t forget what matters
Is money important? Yes. Is investment all that matters? No. As a startup you need to remember that you are creating a product that solves a problem for specific individuals. If you do an ICO and launch your platform with a token business model and you have low users you will have to pivot so hard you will likely change what your token does and anger your token investors. You need to build something great, and your first version will not be. You have to talk to your users and figure out what is working and what isn’t to get the right product for the right users. In the beginning stages you need to think all about your product and the problem your users have. You shouldn’t think about the fundraising opportunity first. If you somehow get to the conclusion that you need to use a blockchain for your data infrastructure — which I’ll tell you, “Why not SQL?” — then you should start to think about tokenized business models and so on.
Why we didn’t ICO
Well right now, there is so much chaos in regulating cryptocurrency and we don’t know the future of it. For instance, look at Tezos and their ICO issue with the SEC. Tezos was claimed to be a security by the SEC and then couldn’t accept any US investors and required to start KYC for their investors that made them lose half their community. This is an example of headaches that we didn’t want to deal with. We want to focus on creating a product for the right users, not have to answer to the SEC about our fundraising strategy.
What investors do you want?
We also believe that investors provide more than just money. Your investors are on your team and have a stake in your company. That means if you fail, they fail. Investors allow you to leverage their networks, meet people you wouldn’t normally meet and give you guidance with industry expertise. When you ICO, essentially you go public. You get any investor in the world that wants to bet on your token and only cares about why the token isn’t listed on an exchange so they can make a return. As a startup, you don’t want to let just anyone in your organization/community. You should aim to have your values aligned with individuals to have a company culture that will sustain your journey as a startup, not money hungry individuals.
Crowdfunding
ICOs can be seen as a crowdfunding mechanism but couldn’t you just have used Kickstarter? Even, Indiegogo allows you to do an equity crowdsale but you will have to do some additional work for that. Right now cryptocurrency is filled with hopeful hype and everyone wants to be the next Satoshi Nakamoto with their top of the line cryptocurrency. But if you’re going to create a digital asset, you better give that digital asset some use besides speculative value. I think a great example of a useful cryptocurrency that isn’t required is Binance Coin (BNB). You could replace the coin with a subscription model but I think BNB fundraised to the right people and the right time.
Future of ICOs
I am sure we will see security tokens begin to matter in the coming years allowing your token to be part of a share of your company giving investors governance and granting investors shareholder rights like exit and dividend participation, liquidation preferences, pro-rata follow-on rights, reporting rights, voting rights, etc. For now, that isn’t a thing, but if it makes it easier and cheaper for VCs and angels to invest in startups I’m sure it will lead to some form of usage. If you do decide to do an ICO I wish you the best luck in this wild wild west industry.

body
By Justin Cata

Why Am I Writing this?

I think a lot of people in the cryptocurrency space really have not taken the time to research and understand Ripple because of the bad representation it gets throughout the crypto community and I believe this immediate disregard does a disservice to the community as a whole and I, personally, felt a passion to want to write about it. Hope everyone can learn something new from this series.

Ripple as a payment System

Within the Ripple system, money isn’t actually transferred from one place to another only the promise of payment is transferred. How is this done? Enter the Hawala system. The Hawala system first started in ancient South-East Asia and is still used to this day, often by immigrants living in developed countries trying to send money home to their families where formal banking is expensive or difficult to access. There are at least four members involved in each transfer ( Sender, Recipient, Hawala Dealer A, and Hawala Dealer B ). Below is an image describing the steps of a Hawala based transfer:

Step 1: Sender gives cash to Hawala Dealer A. Hawala Dealer A gives Sender a code —Step 2: Hawala Dealer A tells Hawala Dealer B how much cash was given. — Step 3: Sender gives code to Recipient as well as stating cash amount. —Step 4: Recipient gives Hawala dealer B the code and dealer B gives cash to Recipient.

Ripple runs similar to that of the Hawala system except instead of Hawala dealers, there are Ripple gateways. These gateways (validators/ servers) are typically financial institutions such as Bitstamp and TheRockTrading. The Ripple network is a relatively large network where not everyone using Ripple knows and trusts one another. To get around this, Ripple uses chains of trusts to interconnect Ripple gateways. The Ripple system isn’t operated by Ripple Labs and is a peer to peer system, in which participating devices all connect to the network. Some nodes just make and receive payments for their users while others operate as validators carrying out the consensus process. These validators “look” at the ledger, which is a snapshot of the current state of transactions on the network, and agree upon the current state utilizing the Ripple Protocol Consensus Algorithm (RPCA). Prior to verification, validators take all the valid transactions it has seen that have not yet been applied to the current ledger and makes them public as a list known as the “candidate set”. Each validator then groups the candidate sets of all validators on its UNL (unique node list) and votes on the accuracy of all transactions. Transactions that receive more than a minimum percentage of “yes” votes are passed on to the next round while transactions that do not receive enough votes will either be discarded, or included in the candidate set for the beginning of the consensus process on the next ledger. The final round of consensus requires at least 80% of a validator UNL agreeing on a transaction. All transactions that meet this requirement are applied to the ledger.

Ripple as a cryptocurrency (XRP)

The Ripple Network can be used for ANY type of currency or asset that Ripple gateways are willing to accept. Hope everyone can learn something new from this series.
\n
Ripple as a payment System
\n
Within the Ripple system, money isn’t actually transferred from one place to another only the promise of payment is transferred. How is this done?\n\nEnter the Hawala system.
\n\n
Step 1: Sender gives cash to Hawala Dealer A. Hawala Dealer A gives Sender a code —Step 2: Hawala Dealer A tells Hawala Dealer B how much cash was given. — Step 3: Sender gives code to Recipient as well as stating cash amount. —Step 4: Recipient gives Hawala dealer B the code and dealer B gives cash to Recipient.
\n
Ripple runs similar to that of the Hawala system except instead of Hawala dealers, there are Ripple gateways. These gateways (validators/ servers) are typically financial institutions such as Bitstamp and TheRockTrading. The Ripple network is a relatively large network where not everyone using Ripple knows and trusts one another. To get around this, Ripple uses chains of trusts to interconnect Ripple gateways. Chains of trust are essentially links between two gateways that trust each other, although as shown in the next image, there can be indirect links of trust between gateways as well.\n
\n\n
Since gateway B doesn’t directly trust gateway A, there is no direct link connecting them to each other. body
Oriana Aristizabal pitching Metamesh in Proof of Concept Studio Demo Day

Increasing our market opportunity and helping the cryptocurrency community earn cash

It’s been a while since our last post. That’s because we have taken the month of June to internalize our future as a company. In the month of June, Metamesh has been analyzing its pivot to open up our market share towards the entire cryptocurrency community in the most acceptable way. Metamesh is now registered as a Delaware C Corporation thanks to our friends at Clerky. We are fans of several cryptocurrencies and believe they have tremendous potential. However, limiting our service to only one cryptocurrency does limit our customer outreach. We aim to be an application that is downloaded next to Coinbase for crypto enthusiasts.

Proving our concept

We would like to thank StartUPFIU for providing a great program that helped us discover our pivot. We found the following problems in the market:

There isn’t a dedicated marketplace for cryptocurrency related items. All cryptocurrency related items are spread apart making it difficult to have access to new crypto brands.

We feel that it is unfair how social networking companies make us their product and we never get a cut from their sales. E-commerce isn’t personalized and if you open up an e-commerce application you will see a bunch of ads you don’t care about or your privacy is being invaded to guess what you will buy.

Merchant brand recognition and growing brand equity. If you’re listed on Amazon or eBay your brand isn’t directly recognized by a buyer and only the ecommerce platform’s brand is recognized.

Ads get more expensive making it difficult to start a brand due to rising marketing costs. Cryptocurrency related ads are also very limited in the market.

Metamesh aims to solve these issues with our product sharing application. We were focusing on only using IOTA for our transactions due to it’s great technology. However, the market tends to purchase products using fiat currency and we want to capture as much value as possible. We will be using Stripe Connect to handle our payment processing for our customers and be releasing our app by November 2018 for United States users. We will be using dollars for our transactions but create a dedicated platform for cryptocurrency merchants and enthusiasts. When we see massive adoption and banks don’t create barriers for us to accept IOTA or any other crypto as a payment method, we will proudly add on cryptocurrency payments our users can accept. We reached out to banks and they did not want to conduct business with us if our core payment processing was done with cryptocurrency. We know that fraud is something we all care about when shopping online, that is why we will provide you customer service that is readily available and on your side. We strive to help you with any issues you have on Metamesh. Let’s dive deeper on how Metamesh will work as a user.

Business Model Updates

Peer-to-peer promoted sales

We will be using a similar business model but with different percentages in commission. Sellers will earn 85% of their sale that is promoted by marketers and marketers will earn 5% of the sale if they successfully connect a buyer and a seller. Metamesh will have a 10% transaction fee on successful sales that occur on the platform. You can list as much as you want because listings items is free!

Direct Sales

There are also direct sales, meaning that a user purchased the item directly from a seller without the help of a marketer. The seller will be able to earn 90% of their sale and Metamesh will take a 10% transaction fee. Seller listings will be free! This incentivizes our merchants to grow big followings on Metamesh in order to grow their number of marketers that will help young brands thrive with faster sales and a supportive community.

Made for growth

If you are aiming to be a big cryptocurrency brand in the next couple of years whether you build the best miners possible, provide portfolio growing trading tips, or the next popular hardware wallet. Metamesh is the platform built for you! We are creating a platform for crypto enthusiasts, like you, to grow your cryptocurrency community with Metamesh and be able to flourish your own brand for your community. Top brands pay social influencers top dollar to display their products to their following. Metamesh now allows you or anyone to be an influencer of any product you desire with a tap of a button.

Metamesh Deep Dive

We have been receiving feedback on how exactly product shares work so we have created the image above as an example. Let’s say a Metamesh merchant, Boxminers, is selling an insane handmade mining rig and they post it on Metamesh. Anthony follows Boxminers and wants to earn 5% off that mining rig (which tends to be a lot) and shares the post to his following. Sam and Matt both found out about the Boxminers mining rig and they decide they want to earn that 5% as well. However, Matt and Sam are on Metamesh at different times and they share the post to their following on Metamesh at different times. Let’s say Brooke wants to start mining and sees the Boxminers mining rig and gets curious by looking at Matt’s shared post on her feed at 9:00 AM. Brooke follows both Sam and Matt. Later on, Brooke opens the Metamesh app and see’s that Sam shared the same post Matt did. Brooke has decided to pull the trigger and wants to purchase the mining rig, she can now choose which post she wants to purchase and reward whichever of her friends with a 5% commission. Sam is her best friend so she purchases Sam’s shared post.

Conclusion

Boxminers got 3x as many views on their post and earns 85% from their sale price.

Anthony and Matt are not marketers in regards to Brooke’s sale. They don’t earn any commission from the sale.

Sam earns a 5% commission from Brooke’s sale

Brooke is now waiting for Boxminers to send her the mining rig to mine some Ethereum.

Metamesh Prototype
https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmduNM7D9LTGic4FuBTNxvyibkeVgvN5tmCFZPhF9mFxEr/sell.gif
Sell seamlessly

We aim to make selling on Metamesh as easy as posting a photo on Instagram. Just hit the add post button and you’ll be on your way to starting your brand. We believe merchants will love Metamesh by its simple interface and giving them an army of marketers. Merchants can go nuts and sell their products in new creative ways. Add some comedy to your store, or even edgy libertarian pictures that your followers will enjoy.
https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWX5nPnn2JBhCrYL5qWsMFWPvXzEAmQKWHC3Nb7AhivYR/share.gif
Share products you love

Connect with your crypto community and find products that you care about. You aren’t limited to just selling your items. You can help your friends or crypto community sell their products even faster! Want to be a Bitcoin maximalist? More freedom to you, go right ahead! Want to love EOS and other altcoins? Why not?! Discover new trends and community members that understand the items you care for. Becoming a crypto influencer is just a tap away.
https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSQ57E4mS3Ck5GCYS9wsf9pEkScyhSnTw47MT2M9HuXjY/earn.gif
Earn cash money

I don’t mean BCash either. I mean USD cash that you can use to buy more crypto, purchase on Metamesh, or even pay the bills. If your ICO isn’t reaching its goal, sell some of your swag on Metamesh and grow a community that love/hate you. You can earn cash by sharing posts to your following (those posts must lead to successful sales). You can also make some sales and cash out to your bank using Stripe. A Stripe Connected Account will be made for you to accept payments.

Limitless Potential

Although we are making this for the cryptocurrency community, we also invite any other community that feels we can take their business to the next level. If we want cryptocurrency adoption to increase we need to bring other communities in our ecosystem to even know what an Ethereum logo looks like.
https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmeyx8oWkmGbqqtzU63fa8mwHvi8UVHPwfLyXfr1twd8LC/image.png
The E-Commerce market is $500 billion in revenue this year with expected 9.3% growth until 2022. Our target customer is:

Someone 18–34 years old

Lives in the US

Knows how social media and e-commerce work

Is invested into cryptocurrency

We believe that this market will lead towards high social interaction on Metamesh and have a great amount of purchases. We are currently in our product development phase and we are building Metamesh brick by brick every day. We will be updating our website very soon that you can share to your friends and crypto community to sign up for development alerts and updates. If you want to help be a bigger part of Metamesh we are looking for cryptocurrency brands to join as our starting client base. You will get a great percentage deal for your sales if you contact us and be a part of the Metamesh team. I’d also like to thank the Metamesh Team for sticking through this pivot. I know it felt like we were lost for some time after the crowdfund but I believe we got our spark back heading towards a new direction.

body
By Claudio Atilano

Problem
There is currently no fast gateway to convert your fiat currency to cryptocurrency unless you do an actual peer-to-peer transaction. On top of that you have to handle the fees that the miners require to have your transaction confirmed. We want to accept fiat payments and convert these payments to IOTA with very minimal fees. This is our new direction starting 2018. https://assistly-production.s3.amazonaws.com/75687/portal_attachments/526542/pasted_image_at_2015_10_07_02_52_pm_original.png?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJNSFWOZ6ZS23BMKQ&Expires=1514375523&Signature=C6mZJyisfBPvt9EkacxrnMVICpA%3D&response-content-disposition=filename%3D%22pasted_image_at_2015_10_07_02_52_pm.png%22&response-content-type=image%2Fpng The process above takes days to process, while the process below is instant. http://www.the-mommyhood-chronicles.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/screen696x696-11.jpeg
Porto App

Receiving fiat and cashing out on IOTA
The Porto application will be a payment receiving platform similar to Square's Cash App. Where users can send each other fiat based payments and then they can cash out in IOTA through us! Let's run a transaction example so we get an idea of the problem we are solving. Let's say you won a $20 bet with your friend named Joe. Joe opens up his Porto App that is linked to his bank's debit card and then sends you $20 to your Porto account. 💳 Joe's Debit Card <==(Linked)==> JoeDoe JoeDoe ==($20)==> YourID You are now credited these $20 into your account and you are free to send it to other Porto accounts or cash out in IOTA. When you cash out in IOTA you are purchasing IOTA through iMarkett and we send the exchange to a public address you provide for us. The current IOTA exchange is $4.01/MIOTA. So you will receive ~ 5 MIOTA when you cash out from the Porto app to the public address you provide! YourID ==(5 MIOTA)==> Your Wallet
Using your IOTA to send as fiat
Now let's say that you have been HODLing IOTA for a while now and want to start using it as a form of payment. Current merchants have not been accepting IOTA as payment because it hasn't reached that point of popularity yet. Let's go back to sending some cash to Joe. Joe has his Porto App and is willing to accept USD and not IOTA. Your Wallet ==(5 MIOTA)==> YourID Now $20 are credited to your Porto account. YourID ==($20)==> JoeDoe Now $20 are credited to Joe's Porto account. Let's say Joe now wants to withdraw to his bank account. JoeDoe ==($20)==> 🏦 Joe's Bank Account (~2 business days to withdraw)
What about sending IOTA to each other?
https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/800/1*kgOJu6F28LW4cjywT4a_7g.png We believe that you should use the official wallet to send IOTA transactions to each other. This for security reasons, we want you to own your private seed instead of us because when you own your seed you truly own your IOTA. We have chosen this route because we do not want to create an entity similar to Coinbase. We are not an exchange, we are a crypto payments facilitator. The problem this platform is solving is the exchange from fiat currency to cryptocurrency. This platform is not intended for the trading of cryptocurrencies but for the facility of crypto/fiat payments. We will not do this process for other crypto currencies such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Litecoin, BCash, or any popular cryptocurrencies.
Focus
Our focus is on creating infrastructure to make IOTA adopted by the public. The Tangle looks at blockchain as it's precedent and has a very scalable system. IOTA is a young project that has several years to go to have all of it's technical issues resolved. Creating a new blockchain or new transactional protocol will not create adoption, it will create confusion. We look at the infrastructure built behind Bitcoin and want to provide a similar infrastructure supporting IOTA on our way to the new Machine Economy.
2018 Direction
We are currently designing the infrastructure of this application and are very excited to hear from it's potential users! We will focus on creating this application and if you subscribe to our mailing list at https://iMarkett.com you will be first to know of our developments and be able to try out the first prototype! On January 18th & 19th our team is attending the North American Bitcoin Conference and we are excited to hear from Charlie Shrem one of the co-founders of BitInstant! BitInstant did something similar to what we are creating here but with IOTA. We believe networking with Charlie will give us some insight on what to do to stay sustainable in the long run and to work with regulators. Charlie has been featured in the very popular documentary Banking on Bitcoin providing his point of view on Bitcoin's history and future state. We cannot wait to meet the innovators of the Bitcoin industry to gain some wisdom from them and apply it to our future endeavors. https://slack-imgs.com/?c=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpbs.twimg.com%2Fmedia%2FDP1UUH8WkAAwF35.jpg The North American Bitcoin Conference will be happening in Miami,FL and the current price for tickets are $500 You can purchase your tickets here. Be sure to purchase them before 2018 because the price of the tickets will double to $1000! #TNABC
Future Direction
We plan on working with the regulators and working by the book to prevent any illegal activities occurring on our platform and we will listen to our users for every comment and complaint you have towards the platform. We see this application as a step forward with adoption as how Square has revolutionized fiat payments. This platform will lead to future developments. Something we have discussed about but not yet fully committed to are the following ideas. * After creating the Porto App create ATMs where users can deposit/withdraw fiat cash to/from their Porto accounts. * After creating these ATMs creating a debit card that connects to your Porto account and now you are free to use the dollars in your Porto account anywhere you go. These ATMs will be full nodes :) * Create dedicated branches where you can solve your issues with an iMarkett employee and be able to exchange large quantities of money for IOTA. There will be limitations on how many times you could exchange USD to IOTA because it will not be a trading exchange and our customers should not use the platform as a trading exchange. We will facilitate the adoption of IOTA to the general public with ease of use. Several people know that Amazon provides 2 day shipping but they don't know the logistic technicalities that are in 2 day shipping. By creating products that help users day to day that solve real problems will lead to the real adoption of a cryptocurrency. Donations are appreciated! We cannot wait to meet the innovators of the Bitcoin industry to gain some wisdom from them and apply it to our future endeavors.\n\nhttps://slack-imgs.com/?c=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpbs.twimg.com%2Fmedia%2FDP1UUH8WkAAwF35.jpg\n\nThe North American Bitcoin Conference will be happening in Miami,FL and the current price for tickets are $500\nYou can purchase your tickets here. Be sure to purchase them before 2018 because the price of the tickets will double to $1000!\n\n#TNABC\n\n
Future Direction
\nWe plan on working with the regulators and working by the book to prevent any illegal activities occurring on our platform and we will listen to our users for every comment and complaint you have towards the platform. \n\nWe see this application as a step forward with adoption as how Square has revolutionized fiat payments. This platform will lead to future developments. Something we have discussed about but not yet fully committed to are the following ideas.\n\n* After creating the Porto App create ATMs where users can deposit/withdraw fiat cash to/from their Porto accounts.\n* After creating these ATMs creating a debit card that connects to your Porto account and now you are free to use the dollars in your Porto account anywhere you go. These ATMs will be full nodes :)\n* Create dedicated branches where you can solve your issues with an iMarkett employee and be able to exchange large quantities of money for IOTA.\n\nThere will be limitations on how many times you could exchange USD to IOTA because it will not be a trading exchange and our customers should not use the platform as a trading exchange. We will facilitate the adoption of IOTA to the general public with ease of use. Several people know that Amazon provides 2 day shipping but they don't know the logistic technicalities that are in 2 day shipping. By creating products that help users day to day that solve real problems will lead to the real adoption of a cryptocurrency.\n\n\nDonations are appreciated!\n\nSend MIOTA here: RNHTJZIHJZCIBELDMOOETJKRIVQ9AZNMUMQZKGBSYRDDGAZYEVLECLXBICTACSJXIYBDINYXERRHLZKF9OBHXH9ZV9\n\nSend BTC here: 1Pjhx9J9FyZtkFCjmgikAD3GQrYE4o4BGj\n\nSend ETH here: 0xc994A727B9530a515FDb99D53e4c92abfAD0a9Fa",

bodyFantastically written. Yes, let's get out the word on IOTA! If you missed bitcoin, this might be your chance! And if you didn't miss bitcoin, and you're a millionaire already, you might consider moving some into IOTA before the market sees the blockchain is already obsolete!
