2008.ISBN 978-0-470-23300-9。^ Bardell, David(2004 年 5 月)。 “显微镜的发明”。 BIOS。 75 (2): 78–84。 doi:10.1893/0005-3155(2004)75<78:tiotm>2.0.co;2. | title | ADAPTATIONS |
| body | ADAPTATIONS Living organisms are found in many types of ecosystem The environment in these ecosystem very considerably.Generally, organisms show features that enable them to live successfully and reproduce in a particular environment. These features may be structural, functional or behavioural.such features are known as adaptations.Adaptations to a particular environment are evolved over a long period of time. Aquatic and Terrestrial Adaptations The two most contrasting environment are The aquatic and Terrestrial environment. Organ ism living in each of these environment show adaptations that are suited to their particular environment. Nature of medium Water is denser medium than air .it is difficult to move rapidly through it .As a result, active aquatic animals like fish have streamlined bodies. Water, however, helps to support the body mass of large aquatic animals. This is not the case with large aquatic animals. This is not the case with large land plants and animals as air is a much lighter medium than water. Hence, large terrestrial plants and animals have better developed supporting (vascular xylem and skeleton) than aquatic ones.these adaptations are mainly structural. Osmoregulation and water loss Most marine organisms have body fluids that are nearly the same concentration as the sea water, in which they live. So the body fluids of freshwater organisms are at a much higher concentration than the surrounding water. So more water enters the body cell than leaves them. Successful freshwater organisms have osmoregulatory structures that get rid of the excess water that enters the body cells. The contractile vacuole in Amoeba is such a structure. The adaptation here is mainly functional. Bony fishes are the most successful aquatic organisms. The body fluid of the marine bony fish is less concentrated than its surrounding water, while the body fluid of the freshwater bony fish is more concentrated. Shows how each has adapted successfully to its environment. The adaptation are mainly functional. Unlike most aquatic organisms, Terrestrial organisms are faced with a great problem of water loss from their bodies. Plants overcome this by having waterproof cuticles covering their external surfaces.they also have well developed roots for the Terrestrial animals have developed Exoskeletons (invertebrates) which envelop the whole body, and covering such as scales, features and hair (vertebrates) and trachear systems (insect) so that water loss is greatly reduced; and Gaseous exchange surfaces enclosed within the body such as lungs (vertebrates) and trachear systems (insect) so that water loss is greatly reduced; and Excretory structures like the Malpighian tubules and kidneys which are efficient at reabsorbing water and saits. Thus, to conserve water, Terrestrial organisms had to adapt both structurally and functionally NOTE In aquatic organisms where there is no need to conserve water, gaseous exchange occurs through the whole body surface or through special structures Callen gills. Movement Aquatic organisms that move actively use appendages like fins which are modified for swimming. Many plankton which drift In the water have devices go for keeping them afloat such as oil droplets and ciliated bands. Animals are the actively moving Terrestrial organisms. They have Jointed limbs (arthropods),and Pentadactyl limbs(verthropods) That are specially adapted for running, jumping , crawling, climbing and digging.in birds, the pentadactyl upper limbs have been structurally adapted into wings for flying. Plant Adaptations to water Availability Rainfall is the main factor that is responsible for the major bioms of the world. This is be cause plants (the organisms that characterise biomes) are greatly affected by the availableility of water in their environment. They shows various adaptations that are related to the amount of water in their environment. Hydrophytes Hydrophytes are plants, such as water hyacinth and water lily, that live in freshwater. All or part of their body is in water. In these plants, the cuticle of the immersed body parts is thin and allows water to enter freely over the whole body surfast . As a result , special water absorbing and water conducting structures are not important. In addition , since there are surrounded by water, they do not need much mechanical support like land plants. Hence , in hydrophytes, The roots (water absorbing), and Vascular xylem or wood (water conducting and mechanical ) is poorly developed. Shows the differences in the internal Stricture of the stems of water and land plants. Water contains less oxgen than air. Most aquatic plants , therefore, not only provide a supply of oxgen to the underwater parts of the plant but also make the plant buoyant and so help it to float. NOTE The floating parts of hydrophytes that are exposed to air are covered with a thick cuticle to prevent water loss. Mesophytes Mesophytes are land plants , such as the Hibiscus and cassava , that are found in an environment with an adequate water supply. A waxy cuticle covers the body surface to minimise water loss. Stomata are present on leaves for gaseous exchange to occur. Xerophytes Xerophytes are plants that can survive in an environment, such as the desert, where water supply is scarce. They show the following adaptations: The roots are well developed. They grow down to great depths if necessary, and branch extensively in order to absorb water from as large an area as possible. Some xerophytes have swolled stems or leaves containing water storage cells. These are known as succulents and can withstand long periods of drought. Example include cacti, Euphorbia and Aloe. Xerophytes have various ways of reducing water loss from leaves by transpiration. For example, in many cacti, the leaves are reduced to spines . the stems become fleshy and green and take over the function of photosynthesis . in Acacia , the leaf blade is absent and the leaf stalk becomes flattened to carry out photo synthesis. The leaves of some xerophytes are covered with thick waxy cuticles or hairls, while in some , the number of stomata are greatly reduced or sunken into pits. The protoplasm in the cells of xerophytes can tolerate a high degree of water loss without being damaged. This is an extremely important adaptation that enable xerophytes to withstand prolonged droughts. Reference Leroi, Armand Marie (2015). The Lagoon: How Aristotle Invented Science. We dumped all the way down to $43k at the lows of the route the other day... image.png (Source: https://twitter.com/OnChainDigital/status/1436012874154053632/photo/1) Was that the lows or do we go lower? I think there is about a 60/40 chance that those were the lows. On a personal note, I'd like to see it retest that level, and get to $42k so I can load the boat. But, that is more of me hoping than reading the charts. Based on the price action and charts there is a possibility we revisit the lows, but the higher probability is that those were the lows and we grind higher from here. What do you think? |

| title | About MICROSCOPE |
| body | MICROSCOPE .jpeg) .jpeg) .jpeg) Stricture of a light microscope To study small organisms and cells we use a microscope. The most common microscope is the light or compound microscope. A light microscope has two set of glass lenses: the objective lenses and the eyepiece lenses. Most microscope have two or three objective attached to a rotating nose piece. These lenses usually are 5x,10x, 20x, 40x, and 100x. (A 10x lens magnifies the image of the objective lens. Its magnification ranges from 5x to 15x. The magnifying power of microscope is the product of the magnifications of the objective and the eyepiece: if the eyepiece magnifies 15x and the objective 40x, the total magnification is 15x 40=600x. Resolution of a microscope A microscope not only magnifies the image but also separates minute details. the ability of a microscope to distinguish two very close objects as being separated from each other is its resolution or resolving power. Thus, if we look at two objects which are close together through a low resolution microscope, we see them as a single object. However, through a high resolution microscope we can distinguish the two objects. The resolution power is about half the wavelength of light (approximately 250 NM).Therefore, the resolving power of a light microscope is limited. At the most, it can distinguish two point which are 250nm (0.25 um) apart and magnife about 1 500 times. Since most cell organelles are smaller than 200nm, they cannot be seen through a light microscope. Note microscope objects are measured in micros. A micros is 1/1000mm. The symbol for micron is the Greek letter u (mu) which is 1/1000000mm. How to use the microscope Step 1: Clip the specimen slide on the stage of the microscope. Make sure the specimen is over the hole in the stage. Step 2: Rotate the nose piece to bring the low power objective lens just above the specimen. Step 3: place a lamp in front of the microscope and tilt the microscope mirror so that the light is directed up through the eyepiece. Step 4: look through the eyepiece and adjust the diaphragm of the iris until the light is bright, but not dazzling. Step 5: look from the side of the microscope, and turn the coarse adjustment knob and lower the objective lens until it is close to the slide. Step 6: look through the eyepiece and slowly turn the coarse adjustment knob and raise the one Ken to focus the specimen sharply. To look at the specimen under high power, Rotate the nose until the high power objective lens is over the specimen. Then, look through the eyepiece and carefully focus the specimen, using the fine adjustments knob. Adjust the illumination if necessary Making a wet mount of a specimen Specimen for viewing through a microscope are usually prepared as thin slices or secrions. Soft tissue like root tips are squashed, while liquid tissue like blood is smeared. Transparent part of a specimen are offer stained with appropriate dyes to make them visibe. The prepared specimen is then mounted on a glass microscope slide as follows: Step 1: place a drop of the mounting liquid (usually water or glycerine) in the central of a clean dry microscope slide and put the specimen in this liquid Step 2: stand a cover slip on the side at an angle of 45°. Pull it along the slide until it touches the drop of liquid. Using a mounting needle, very carefully, lower the cover slip until it is flat on the top of the liquid drop. With a piece of filter paper, draw off, if any , excess mounting liquid around the cover slip. Electron microscope Many organelles in cells are too small to be viewed through a light microscope. An electron microscope is used to study such objects. It used a beam of electron whose wavelength is very much shorter than that of light. the beam is focused by powerful electromagnets.the image produced cannot be viewed directly. Onto a fluorescent screen, from which black and white photographs of the image called photoelectron micrographs are taken. An electron microscope has a resolving power of around 1nm and magnifies objects over 500 000 times. Thus, it can give a far more detailed picture of the structures in a cell than the most powerful light microscope. First atomic force microscope ^ Characterization and Analysis of Polymers. "title": "About MICROSCOPE",
"body": "MICROSCOPE\n\n\n\n\n.jpeg)\n.jpeg)\n.jpeg)\n\nStricture of a light microscope\nTo study small organisms and cells we use a microscope. The most common microscope is the light or compound microscope.\nA light microscope has two set of glass lenses: the objective lenses and the eyepiece lenses. Most microscope have two or three objective attached to a rotating nose piece. These lenses usually are 5x,10x, 20x, 40x, and 100x. (A 10x lens magnifies the image of the objective lens. Its magnification ranges from 5x to 15x.\nThe magnifying power of microscope is the product of the magnifications of the objective and the eyepiece: if the eyepiece magnifies 15x and the objective 40x, the total magnification is 15x 40=600x.\n\nResolution of a microscope\nA microscope not only magnifies the image but also separates minute details. the ability of a microscope to distinguish two very close objects as being separated from each other is its resolution or resolving power. Since most cell organelles are smaller than 200nm, they cannot be seen through a light microscope.\nNote microscope objects are measured in micros. A micros is 1/1000mm. The symbol for micron is the Greek letter u (mu) which is 1/1000000mm.\n\nHow to use the microscope\nStep 1: Clip the specimen slide on the stage of the microscope. Make sure the specimen is over the hole in the stage.\nStep 2: Rotate the nose piece to bring the low power objective lens just above the specimen.\nStep 3: place a lamp in front of the microscope and tilt the microscope mirror so that the light is directed up through the eyepiece.\nStep 4: look through the eyepiece and adjust the diaphragm of the iris until the light is bright, but not dazzling.\nStep 5: look from the side of the microscope, and turn the coarse adjustment knob and lower the objective lens until it is close to the slide.\nStep 6: look through the eyepiece and slowly turn the coarse adjustment knob and raise the one Ken to focus the specimen sharply.\n To look at the specimen under high power, Rotate the nose until the high power objective lens is over the specimen. Then, look through the eyepiece and carefully focus the specimen, using the fine adjustments knob. Adjust the illumination if necessary\n\nMaking a wet mount of a specimen\nSpecimen for viewing through a microscope are usually prepared as thin slices or secrions. Soft tissue like root tips are squashed, while liquid tissue like blood is smeared. Transparent part of a specimen are offer stained with appropriate dyes to make them visibe. The prepared specimen is then mounted on a glass microscope slide as follows:\nStep 1: place a drop of the mounting liquid (usually water or glycerine) in the central of a clean dry microscope slide and put the specimen in this liquid\nStep 2: stand a cover slip on the side at an angle of 45°. Pull it along the slide until it touches the drop of liquid. Using a mounting needle, very carefully, lower the cover slip until it is flat on the top of the liquid drop. With a piece of filter paper, draw off, if any , excess mounting liquid around the cover slip.\n\nElectron microscope\nMany organelles in cells are too small to be viewed through a light microscope. An electron microscope is used to study such objects. It used a beam of electron whose wavelength is very much shorter than that of light. the beam is focused by powerful electromagnets.the image produced cannot be viewed directly. Onto a fluorescent screen, from which black and white photographs of the image called photoelectron micrographs are taken.\nAn electron microscope has a resolving power of around 1nm and magnifies objects over 500 000 times. Thus, it can give a far more detailed picture of the structures in a cell than the most powerful light microscope.\n\nFirst atomic force microscope\n\n^ Characterization and Analysis of Polymers.
