Good for Bancor.\n\nWith a Bancor backed coin you can pump by  buying the contract. The price naturally goes up the more you buy. You don't need fake parties to pump. You could use them though. Is the scenario you are proposing one where a whale buys all the available coins or one where he sells all his coins back to the contract? If it is the former, then the price would go up (way up) and the pumper profits. If it is the later, I covered that in my article (second to last paragraph).\n\nIt is possible for a pumper to lose money if he is found out and the current coin holders sell their coins for the reserve currency. We don't need to panic sale now, and we really believe in the long term value of Ether, mostly due to the unprecedented developer adoption this platform attracts.\n\nI invested in the \"Bitcoin Bubble of 2011\", when it quickly climbed to $30 and crashed, gradually, to $2 (when Wired published \"[The Rise and Fall of Bitcoin](https://www.wired.com/2011/11/mf_bitcoin/)\"). Those bubbles really mean nothing. They could even be manufactured and we wouldn't know about it. We should not let these \"bubbles\" get to us. We should focus on our common goal, which is to overcome the trust gap that exist in our society. That trust gap is the reason we got bureaucracy - and I don't know anyone who like it to much.\n\nUsing the blockchain technology we can organize societies in a different way. It's good that we have upcoming high-profile Ethereum alternative such as EOS and Tezos, it's great that Cosmos and Polkadot are working on cross-blockchain interoperability solutions. But instead of focusing on that, some of us are fixated on the single parameter which is completely out of our control - the current trading prices of the different assets. \n\nAnyway, one of Bancor protocol missions is to bring some stability to this madhouse using the non-profit automated market-makers we call \"Smart tokens'.
