If all this is true then shame on me for signing with someone when my due diligence is based solely on popularity and common consensus.       "body": "I've recently posted a short note about the suspicious story of LDJ Capital and ICO ADvisor David Drake. I am yet to decide, if this is really a scam or there is another plausible explanation for those inadequate discrepancies between the presented picture of David Drake and LDJ Capital and their actual assets. Also, some other concerns and discussion topics were expressed there, please see the original note for them.\n\nBut what triggered this post is something very different. And it is a huge, extreme **flaw in design** of existing **centralized media** (Medium and LinkedIn are in question at this time, but the same is right for any other centralized media). There are obvious Russian roots of both of those projects. This pair don't deserve a separate article, but they are just one of many teams scamming ICOs for useless PPC campaigns and selling nonexistent services to them. Such as selling ICO Bench ratings, since none of top advisors would actually do it for their prices, since campaigns themselves bring x100 more revenue to anadvisor, than any fake rating on the ICOBench, and those guys have several if not 10s of them. Just from a logical standpoint no one there would risks the reputation for a couple ETH, other then guys with no reputation and no projects under advisory.       "body": "![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdm17oFp7jipNwtxD3LWqrp8BA8ig7hxygHEgUSawQ6px/image.png)\n\nAs the ICO market starts to recover from the dramatical fall of January 2018 and the market size for March has beaten the record of December 2017, apart from the cryptocurrencies rates, a projects’ success or failure continues to rely a lot on the experts’ opinion. According to our data, the projects those have 5 and more ratings usually have better overall rate and are more successful in raising funds. We can also see the same situation about the projects that have at least one rating from an expert with the weight of more than 50 points. Unfortunately, many experts abuse their power as we can see from numerous complaints we receive daily.\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmVUybnMRR9yUEvdprpwoe3Bvt1jqywBWfoDEvSzJoLzwP/image.png)\n\nOver the past few months, we have been gathering ideas about reforming the expert community in order to make it more transparent and avoid most of the misconduct.\n\nWe have decided to start these reforms with 5 new directives:\n\n1. The expert status is not just a fashionable accessory. First of all, we have decided to revoke the expert status of those who used it only as a label without being an active member of the community. From now on every expert who hasn’t rated any project in the past 3 months would be downgraded to an ICObench user. Unlike the experts whose status was revoked for breaking the rules of the community, such users would be able to send an application and probably be granted the expert status in the future.\n\n1. Being an expert brings a higher level of responsibility to a member of the community. We have noticed that a lot of experts don’t read the rules and don’t notify us about removing the rating once they join the team of an ICO they previously rated. On May 11, 2018, all such ratings will be automatically deleted, however, we cannot let the irresponsible experts keep their status and get away with it. Before this update goes live all the experts will be given one week to check the list of their projects and ratings and notify us about any ratings that were not removed yet. On May 10 we will revoke the status of all the experts who ignored this request.\n\n1. A rating must be transparent and reasonable. We have been receiving a lot of complaints about the experts that never answer to comments of the team or explain their rating. Most of the time this miscommunication starts with a rating without a written review. That is why starting May 11 the reviews will become mandatory and all the old ratings without a comment will have only 50% of initial weight in the rating distribution. We believe that it will not only make the experts section of the rating way more informative but also let the investors see the real insights from the experts in blockchain and business.\n\n1. Experience over being busy. One of the most important factors taken into account by ICObench when granting the expert status to a person is their experience. That is why we have decided to take into expert’s weight only the ICO Success Score earned for the past projects. On the other hand, many experts abuse on the number of the projects they work on at the same time not only in order to gain a higher place in People of Blockchain rating, but also to have a bigger expert’s weight. To avoid such situations the part of ISS in expert’s weight will soon be reduced to maximum of 10 points while the points for successfully passed KYC raised to 10.\n\n1. Experts as the elite of the community. While the People of Blockchain rating shows the activity of the community members outside of ICObench, the expert’s weight and position in rating display their contribution into our community. That is why we will implement special badges for the experts, showing their place in the rating and special achievements as an active member of ICObench.\nIn our opinion, these steps are vital to start the rehabilitation of the experts community and ICObench rating system as well as weed out the members of community causing harm to investors and reducing the credibility of ICObench as a rating platform. This list is not exhaustive and more new policies will follow soon. As we have made our move, it is time for you to help the community. If you have any proof of an expert blackmailing a project, selling ratings or exchanging them for their services, send it to [email protected]. Douglas Lyons did some digging in public domain and found out, that none of LDG Capital's offices (listed at the LDJ Capital website) has any noticeable presence of LDG and has are all in co-workings or residential areas. Which is more than strange and simply inadequate for a company, which claims to work with 1.5 trillion dollars worth of capital sources.\n\n2. He learned, that some team members of LDJ look fake and even sometimes simply are very likely \"ghosts\" or fake accounts.\n\n3. Initially one startup, and later on several 10s more told Douglas, that LDJ Capital and David Drake in particular set up meetings with them at their expense and brought random people (someone from the street for $50/hour, as it is claimed there) just to charge ICOs for their time. Most of such meeting had no result other than somewhat $30k of startup funds spent. There are more ICO advisors in the LinkedIn discussion coming out and telling the same stories about allegedly con actions or attempts for such actions of LDJ team in regard of their ICOs. He also found out, that personal assets of David Drake (the Chairman of LDJ) are very modest at best, and the lavish lifestyle, which he claims to have, is more likely a glitter, rather than a product or confirmation of the high status.\n\n5. There are also a suggestion, that David Drake is onboarding with each and every ICO, which is willing to pay him anything in tokens, and that he is promoting himself, as the #1 top adviser at the ICOBench. Which he technically is, since he has a lot of mostly low quality project, which he couldn't really advise even being the smartest person on the earth: just counting projects listed at ICOBench, there 75 running. Taking David spends no time on anything other than ICO advisory, it would left him with 32 minutes per project per 1 normal week of working, which is not enough even to properly read and analyse an average White Paper of 45 pages (my rough estimation). What kind of Advisor is that?!\n\nI want to find a logical explanation for what is happening and determine, if it is actually a fraud, or a super aggressive hustling and a rapidly growing business with all the corresponding deficiencies and flaws (I want to leave it a chance, since LDJ going down would hurt a lot of relatively innocent ICOs and the industry as a whole in a short span of time [yet it will clear it and make stronger, if LDJ actually is a fraud]). What do you think? \n\nI want tot ask everyone to stick to a professional manner of speaking and try to be reasonable and to do justice to the company in question. This is actually a very serious matter and we have to be careful discussing it.\n\nAlso, I want to discuss consequences of both scenarios.
