A human face is very complex and only precise measures and right relations between components can provide resemblance in a portrait of the specific person. <center>https://s14.postimg.org/o8x4qqagx/image.png </center> Local values of a skin, hair, t-shirt, background must be differentiated and simplified at this stage. I started with large value relations and was continuing with smaller ones on Jerry’s skin. <center>https://s14.postimg.org/b4rke2da9/image.png </center> Even more details on skin shading with shadows and lights. I’ve added some contrast on the left side of a background to show the light source placement. <center>https://s14.postimg.org/epnfx7hsx/image.png </center> The triangle of eyes-nose-lips is our focal point in 3/4 portrait, so we need to make these components with good detailing. <center>https://s14.postimg.org/gewzor9c1/image.png </center> When all values are set, we have complex detailing on eyes-nose-lips and ear, the texture of the skin is nice and smooth - we can finish the greyscale stage of shading. <center>https://s14.postimg.org/r1qsuacdd/image.png </center> I used a new layer with the "overlay" mode to make coloring over the greyscale drawing. A human face is very complex and only precise measures and right relations between components can provide resemblance in a portrait of the specific person. \n\n\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/o8x4qqagx/image.png\n</center>\n\n\n\nLocal values of a skin, hair, t-shirt, background must be differentiated and simplified at this stage. I started with large value relations and was continuing with smaller ones on Jerry’s skin.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/b4rke2da9/image.png\n</center>\n\n\nEven more details on skin shading with shadows and lights. I’ve added some contrast on the left side of a background to show the light source placement.\n\n\n\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/epnfx7hsx/image.png\n</center>\n\n\nThe triangle of eyes-nose-lips is our focal point in 3/4 portrait, so we need to make these components with good detailing.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/gewzor9c1/image.png\n</center>\n\nWhen all values are set, we have complex detailing on eyes-nose-lips and ear, the texture of the skin is nice and smooth - we can finish the greyscale stage of shading.\n\n\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/r1qsuacdd/image.png\n</center>\n\n\nI used a new layer with the \"overlay\" mode to make coloring over the greyscale drawing. Colors also can add some values in some part if it’s needed.\n\n\n\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/vowuvk7ap/image.png\n</center>\n\nA new layer in \"overlay\" mode was added to give even more shades of colors to a drawing.\n\n\n<center>https://s14.postimg.org/lrlu2i7ep/image.png\n</center>\n\nMixer brush tool can be useful to make skin softer in some sharp parts. titleART TUTORIAL: digital Sci-Fi illustration (with video)

This work was drawn specifically for the science fiction quests Far-Out: Selene, which will be released on February 7, 2018, on Steam. If you are interested in the subject of the game, you can learn more about it [here](http://store.steampowered.com/app/389860/Far_Out/). <center> https://s14.postimg.org/etyptt0z5/image.jpg </center> Since this composition was almost entirely based on the screenshot from the original game, I practically didn't have to build a linear perspective of the interior of the spaceship. The original linear sketch was supplemented with local colors of the objects. <center> https://s14.postimg.org/w7908hgsx/image.jpg </center> After that, I was working with foreground objects, the folds-map on the character's clothes and the portrait. The face of the character serves as the main point of interest for the whole work, so it was sufficiently detailed at this stage. <center> https://s14.postimg.org/3udii9nfl/image.jpg </center> Various parts of the background were shaded with light and shadow. I used some different shades of color to make a drawing more interesting and complex. <center> https://s14.postimg.org/f6q402j9t/image.jpg </center> Then, the details of the folds of the clothes were made, as well as further work on the interior of the spaceship. Scattered light (which was dictated by the original game) suggested a rather detailed interpretation of each small object in the space of the illustration. <center> https://s14.postimg.org/xnkiqch29/image.jpg </center> Such a number of details naturally required a better structure of the plans for a more harmonious perception of the illustration as a whole. Additional semitransparent layers made it possible to show the spatial depth in the artwork.
