      "body": "<html>\n<p><img src=\"http://www.ctvnews.ca/polopoly_fs/1.1714440.1453886591!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_620/image.jpg\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\"/></p>\n<p>WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration is joining with private companies &nbsp;in a partnership aimed at training enforcement officials about the &nbsp;virtual currency Bitcoin and fighting crime arising from its use.</p>\n<p>The goals of the partnership, called the Blockchain Alliance, include &nbsp;educating investigators on the ins and outs of how the technology works &nbsp;and enhancing the reputation of a digital currency that's been &nbsp;associated with high-profile crime even as it has slowly gained &nbsp;mainstream acceptance and legitimacy. Its members hope to change the &nbsp;public perception of virtual currency and deter criminals from using it &nbsp;to their advantage.</p>\n<p>The alliance announced Thursday includes the Departments of Justice and &nbsp;Homeland Security and representatives of private companies such as &nbsp;BitFury, BitPay and CoinBase that are involved in virtual currency.</p>\n<p>The name comes from the term \"blockchain,\" which refers to the digital ledger on which Bitcoin transactions are recorded.</p>\n<p>Supporters see Bitcoin, a decentralized form of money that offers users a &nbsp;degree of privacy for their transactions, as a fast and easy payment &nbsp;system that is gaining legitimacy among regulators and businesses. New &nbsp;York state regulators last month approved their first license for a &nbsp;company dealing in virtual currency, and online retailer Overstock.com &nbsp;this year installed a bitcoin ATM at its corporate headquarters in Salt &nbsp;Lake City.</p>\n<p>But Bitcoin's reputation has nonetheless suffered as criminals have &nbsp;exploited it for Ponzi schemes and as the primary currency for Silk &nbsp;Road, the Internet drug bazaar whose founder was sentenced to life in &nbsp;prison this year. Two agents from the Secret Service and Drug &nbsp;Enforcement Administration who were assigned to a Silk Road task force &nbsp;pleaded guilty this year to pocketing Bitcoin proceeds during the course &nbsp;of their investigation.</p>\n<p>\"Far too many people think of Bitcoin as the currency of criminals,\" &nbsp;said Jason Weinstein, the alliance's director and a former Justice &nbsp;Department deputy assistant attorney general.</p>\n<p>\"We think that changing that misperception, that image problem, will be &nbsp;good for the growth of the industry as a whole,\" added Weinstein, a &nbsp;partner at the Steptoe and Johnson law firm.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\tHe said he envisioned the alliance as a \"one-stop shopping resource\" &nbsp;for law enforcement, with training sessions and conference calls to &nbsp;answer questions about Bitcoin. Industry participation is intended to &nbsp;signal a commitment to helping law enforcement weed out criminal &nbsp;activity associated with the currency.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\t\"The more law enforcement understands how this technology works, the &nbsp;more they can understand what they can ask for, how they can ask for &nbsp;it,\" said Jerry Brito, executive director of Coin Center, a Bitcoin &nbsp;advocacy group and participant in the alliance.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\tHe said the public perception of the virtual currency is reminiscent of &nbsp;the Internet's early days, when many saw the World Wide Web as a hub &nbsp;for illegal activity. Just as that association has changed over time, so &nbsp;too might the perception of Bitcoin, he said.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\t\"We should get to a point where we don't think badly of Bitcoin because &nbsp;criminals use Bitcoin,\" and part of the way to get there is to draw &nbsp;attention to its legitimate uses, he added.</p>\n</html>",

Also, &nbsp;food price inflation rose to 8.35 percent versus 7.79 percent in May.</p>\n<p>As per the government data, the consumer prices have risen &nbsp;faster-than-expected at a pace of 6.07 percent last month from a year &nbsp;ago, up from June’s 5.77 percent annual gain. Both rural and urban &nbsp;inflation rose to 6.66 percent and 5.39 percent from 6.29 percent and &nbsp;5.26 percent respectively.</p>\n<p>Vegetable inflation declined marginally to 14.06 percent versus 14.74 &nbsp;percent in June, but pulses inflation rose to 27.53 percent versus 26.86 &nbsp;percent. Also, housing inflation dipped to 5.42 percent versus 5.46 &nbsp;percent, and clothing, footwear inflation rose to 5.23 percent versus &nbsp;5.01 percent. Fuel, light inflation came in at 2.75 percent versus 2.92 &nbsp;percent in June</p>\n<p>In the last monetary policy review, RBI Governor <a href=\"http://www.financialexpress.com/tag/raghuram-rajan/\">Raghuram Rajan</a> &nbsp;had indicated upside risks to inflation. He had anticipated increase in &nbsp;food prices that have pushed up the projected trajectory of inflation &nbsp;over the rest of the year. “Prices of pulses and cereals are rising and &nbsp;services inflation remains somewhat sticky,” Rajan had said during the &nbsp;third monetary policy review.</p>\n<p>Adding on the implementation of the recommendations of the seventh &nbsp;central pay commission on allowances, Rajan cautioned that inflation &nbsp;projections as given in the June bi-monthly statement may cross the &nbsp;trajectory towards five percent by March 2017 with risks tilted to the &nbsp;upside.</p>\n</html>",

For the holidays, &nbsp;Bitstrips released 100 new holiday-themed comics intended to turn user &nbsp;avatars into personalized* greeting cards. &nbsp;As Bitstrips watched &nbsp;its popularity grow, it also saw an increase in user complaints, mainly &nbsp;that the comic strips* were starting to take over their Facebook feeds. &nbsp;The product is annoying to some, but only because their friends are &nbsp;using it too frequently. &nbsp;Last month the company changed the &nbsp;app’s settings so that users can share their Bitstrips comics with more &nbsp;focused groups of friends or followers.       "body": "<html>\n<p>I’m beginning to learn what the phrase “those who can’t do, teach” &nbsp;means. It doesn’t mean only people who are crap at something teach it. &nbsp;It means that if you do something instinctively, actually trying to &nbsp;figure out what you do enough to explain it to someone else is a process &nbsp;that might actually drive you insane.</p>\n<p>So right now, I have a part-time gig tutoring. I tutor in ESL—that’s &nbsp;English as a second language—and I’m pretty good at it. Not because I &nbsp;can’t speak English (oh, my, can I speak English) but because I’ve &nbsp;learned other languages the hard way. I have been the person staring at &nbsp;lists of vocabulary long into the night wondering why nothing will &nbsp;stick. My time in the grammar trenches has come and gone and left me &nbsp;with battle scars—still do I flinch when I realize I must conjugate a &nbsp;verb into the “must” form. (<em>Saseraremashita, you beautiful verb-ending bastard</em>.)</p>\n<p>See, a large portion of ESL the way I teach it is phonics, and because &nbsp;of my particular approach, that means spelling. And I suck at spelling, &nbsp;hardcore. <a href=\"https://shunternisbet.com/2016/01/02/my-inability-to-spell-doesnt-mean-im-stupid/\">Suck to the point that I’m betting if I was tested, I’d register on the dyslexia scale</a><a href=\"https://shunternisbet.com/2016/01/02/my-inability-to-spell-doesnt-mean-im-stupid/\">.</a> So it seems pretty stupid to have me teach phonics, right?</p>\n<p>Wrong. I know every trick, every rule, every stupid thing I’ve memorized &nbsp;over the years in hopes it might actually help me to not look like a &nbsp;total moron writing long-handed. Learning phonics in order to teach them &nbsp;truly helped tune my ear, and now I am a phonics master. Teach? Ha! I &nbsp;can teach English spelling to anyone!</p>\n<p>And then I got a student who just plain needs help in English. Like, &nbsp;with high-level high school grammar and composition. A native speaker.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://shunternisbetdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/teaching-3.png?w=621&amp;h=424\" width=\"621\" height=\"424\"/></p>\n<p>I’m really good at English. I’m got-a-36-ACT good at English. I write &nbsp;books, I compose blog posts, I spend my days reading and writing, &nbsp;immersed in English. A five paragraph essay? Ha! Hand it over, it’ll be &nbsp;done in half an hour, no really.</p>\n<p>Which is, of course, the problem. Essay writing has never been difficult &nbsp;for me. High level grammar is instinctive. I write the way I speak, &nbsp;almost exactly, hence the large quantity of comma splices and erratic &nbsp;commas.</p>\n<p>How do I do it?</p>\n<p>Turns out, I don’t have a clue.</p>\n<p>As a teaching approach, you can imagine how helpful it is.</p>\n<p>So I’m sitting with this student, going over the grammar packet I found &nbsp;online and skimmed through, which is full of stuff that I think will &nbsp;help them. We come to a page on “is this a complete sentence or not,” &nbsp;and the following sentence comes up:</p>\n<p><em>When I forget my keys</em></p>\n<p>Is it a full sentence or not?</p>\n<p>Of course it isn’t, that seems obvious. I open my mouth to explain &nbsp;why, and realize right before I say it that my answer is going to be <strong>“because it feels wrong.”</strong></p>\n<p><img src=\"https://shunternisbetdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/teaching-2.png?w=632&amp;h=431\" width=\"632\" height=\"431\"/></p>\n<p>English is not dousing, or palm reading. It has no element of mysticism, &nbsp;and so the answer “I feel in my bones this is not correct” is exactly &nbsp;as helpful as staring into a crystal ball saying “darkness comes, Harry &nbsp;Potter, oooOOOoooo.”</p>\n<p>So I stare at the sentence for a moment. The answer is here, I can feel it. Sentences require a verb and a subject. So that’s <em>I</em>, and <em>forget</em>, and look, there’s even an object, <em>keys</em>, and I know this is not a sentence but WHY IS THIS NOT A SENTENCE.</p>\n<p>Ten seconds have passed, and I still don’t have an answer. My &nbsp;not-well-installed ceiling fan is ticking back and forth, sweat is &nbsp;beginning to rise on my neck. My student is waiting for me, &nbsp;grammar-guru, to say exactly why this is not a full sentence, and I &nbsp;don’t have one flipping clue beyond the fact that I know that it isn’t. &nbsp;Oh god, oh god, what do I <em>do</em>?</p>\n<p>Turns out I check the previous page, where it explains all this, and &nbsp;reach back into the long-forgotten realms of ninth grade to remember the &nbsp;phrase “dependent clause.” Oh, yeah. Right. Cool. Dependent clause, &nbsp;totally. The situation is saved and we continue working through the &nbsp;packet.</p>\n<p>But for one terrifying second, I’d realized something: I have no &nbsp;blithering clue how grammar works. I’m like that person who cliff dives &nbsp;and then the moment someone goes “what’s the trick?” they accidentally &nbsp;jump straight onto a rock.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://shunternisbetdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/06/teaching-4.png?w=624&amp;h=426\" width=\"624\" height=\"426\"/></p>\n<p>How do you do it? Dunno.</p>\n<p>And that is why the phrase should not be “those who can’t do, teach.” Rather, we should say: “those who can’t <em>do it instinctively</em> should teach the stupid thing, <em>because they actually have a clue what the rules are without sounding like they use a divining rod every morning</em>.”</p>\n<p>Instinct is a pretty cool thing—it’s just not an effective teaching &nbsp;tool.       "body": "<h1><strong>I’m part of a revolutionary system – Artabana.</strong></h1>\n<p><img src=\"https://img1.steemit.com/0x0/https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9200425/steemit/Artabana/start.jpg\" /></p>\n<p> Artaban is The Fourth Wise Man and the eponym for the association. Artabana is a solidary group, a supportitive institution in the health care sector. And that’s where the revolution begins. I’m living this revolution so to say for more than 3 years now. And it feels good to be a (little) revolutionist, even if it’s just a small part or specific part of my life. But we all have to start somewhere. </p>\n<p> We have written laws in Germany (whether good or bad is not the case) that tell you: You must have a health insurance. You have be covered by insurance, private or statutory. I’m running my own business for more than 10 years now, every self-employed worker in Germany has to chose a private health insurance. Some are cheap, some are really expensive, depending on your needs. As an self-employed worker you can’t have a statutory health insurance, never, by law. Due to some events (one of my doctors fucked up some bills, it wasn’t even my fault or on purpose) my insurance resigned my contract. Wow. I was not covered by an insurance. I thought I’m gonna die. No kidding. That’s the feeling you get when you lose your health insurance. Society teached us to be insured against everything, whether you need it or not. But that’s not the point. </p>\n<p> I was standing there: As a self-employed worker you can’t have a statutory health insurance and none of the private insurances was willing to sign a contract with me. They all communicate among each other, a huge circle jerk. If you get kicked your chances are pretty much 0 to get a new one. I’m too old (please don’t laugh, that’s a real reason) or just too risky for the insurance because of your history and <em>what could be</em>, they run danger to have to pay for you, that’s actually the most hilarious thing ever. An insurance that is afraid to pay for you in case you get sick. Long story short: I wanted an insurance but couldn’t find one to sign me. But you have to be insured by law. Catch-22. The world is crazy sometimes. Isn’t it. </p>\n<p> <strong>Pablo Picasso once said:</strong></p>\n<blockquote>„I do not seek. I find.“</blockquote>\n<p> So there’s no such thing as coincidence, even if some people try to tell you. So, <em>„I stumbled upon“</em> Artabana, a friend told me about it and I gave it a try. What else could I do. </p>\n<p>It had to be that way. So I thought <em>„let the things flow and don’t fight them, there’s always a reason.“</em></p>\n<p> I was invited to their monthly meetings and soon became a full-time member, I’m the youngest one in our group (37). We’re a group of 6 people now, 4 women and 2 men (me included). </p>\n<p>We all have different backgrounds, different jobs, different views of life, different tastes, very natural. It’s a very interesting potpourri.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://img1.steemit.com/0x0/https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9200425/steemit/Artabana/loogo.png\" /></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Artabana is DECENTRALIZED.</h2>\n<p> I know you’ll like it. :) </p>\n<p> Artabana consists of many of these little groups. 5 – 12 people on average, all over Germany. </p>\n<p> Right now Artabana has about 2000 members, officially. There are about 1000 additional people who join meetings and support the association, they’re just not listed as full-time members. So we have round about 3000 members currently. It’s organized subsidiary. Everything what can be done on a lower level does not have to be regulated on a higher level. </p>\n<p> Every local group is a stand-alone group, self-reliant. Like a regular incorporated association. </p>\n<p> These little local groups build regional alliances to support each other in case of financial needs. </p>\n<p> <strong>Let me explain you how it works and why it is so wonderful:</strong> </p>\n<p> Each group (local group) can decide about the amount they think is adequate. It’s a soliditary contribution. This can be different within the single local groups. </p>\n<p> <strong>An example:</strong> </p>\n<p><strong> Each of us in the group pays his/her soliditary contribution / month </strong></p>\n<p>60 % of that amount go to you private fund</p>\n<p>20% of that amount go to the group fund (our own group)</p>\n<p>20% of that amount go to the regional funds</p>\n<p> <strong>Numbers are figurative but I think it's easier for you to get a feeling for it:</strong> </p>\n<p> <strong>Scenario 1:</strong> <em>I don’t have to go to the doctor for a full year. The funds accumulate month by month, I don’t loose anything just because I didn’t spend it. My private jar/fund grows. </em></p>\n<p> <strong>Scenario 2:</strong> <em>Let’s assume I visit the dentist: The bill is € 250,-. I use my private funds to pay the bill. Pretty easy. That’s why I have my „jar“, that’s how we call it. </em></p>\n<p><strong>Scenario 3:</strong> <em>I have a car accident and have to go to the hospital. The bill is € 5000,-. I don’t have so much in my private jar. I only have € 1500,- left. The group will cover the missing amount using the group fund.</em></p>\n<p><strong>Scenario 4:</strong> <em>I have a car accident and have to go to the hospital. The bill is € 15.000,-. I don’t have so much in my private jar. I only have € 1500,- left. The group only has about € 7000,- in the group jar. The group makes a request and is asking the „regional alliance“ for help. The regional jar will cover the missing amount.</em></p>\n<p> And just in case the regional jar is not enough you can make a request and ask other regional alliances for help. </p>\n<p> If that’s still not enough (that will never ever happen) the Artabana Germany funds will be used to cover the costs. </p>\n<h1>WE SUPPORT EACH OTHER.</h1>\n<h1>WE TAKE CARE OF OUR HEALTH – IT’S IN OUR VERY OWN HANDS.</h1>\n<p><img src=\"https://img1.steemit.com/0x0/https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9200425/steemit/Artabana/hand.jpg\" /></p>\n<h2>And everything is based on <strong>TRUST</strong>.</h2>\n<p> You have to find the right people to make that even possible. But there’s one thing of sure: The law of ressonance. Birds of a feather flock together. Like I said, there’s no such thing as coincidence. And I’m happy that I had to chose this way. </p>\n<p>And yes, even in times of envy and anger, there’s is trust among a few to build something new.</p>\n<p> <strong>Artabana:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n  <li>mutual assistance in case of illness</li>\n  <li>therapeutic freedom</li>\n  <li>decentralized organization</li>\n  <li>Increased confidence through community building</li>\n  <li>Motivation on healthy lifestyles</li>\n  <li>voluntary self-government</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>It’s like heaven. At least for this part of my life. I feel free. And responsible for myself. I'm living a little revolution.</p>\n<p>I can do whatever I want now when it comes to medical or clinical treatments, therapeutic freedom which I believe is best for me, my body and my health. <strong>And health is all we have.</strong></p>\n<p>Plus I’m surrounded by extraordinary people. It’s very inspiring in every way. And we’re growing.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>And once again just to make it clear: No religious background , no political background, no cult. People tend to make a cult out of everything which is against the „usual things“. We’re just free thinkers and treat our health with respect.</p>\n<p>The only real problem we have in Germany is: It’s not easy to resign your health insurance. They won’t let you go without a proof of your „next“ insurance. And Artabana is not accepted by law as an alternative to statutory or private insurances. You need to trick them or find a very understanding responsible official. But there are many well-informed Artabana members to help you find a way.</p>\n<p>I’m just scratching the surface here, there’s much more to talk about.
