| title | 3 Big Stock Charts: Facebook Inc (FB), Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ATVI) and MeetMe Inc (MEET) |
| body |

FB shares look ready to roll over, while ATVI and MEET are ready to run higher after their declines

With the stock market still flashing signs of potential weakness as it trades at the top of its range, the charts are continuing to identify a large number of bullish and bearish opportunities. It’s a reminder that, hey, there’s always a bull market somewhere.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), MeetMe Inc (NASDAQ:MEET) and Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) are three big stock charts you should be paying attention to.

Facebook Inc (FB)

Facebook has been one of the quieter performers in the market lately, especially given the fact the shares normally attract all kinds of attention after earnings. FB stock has made its recent run from $111 to almost $130, setting up a short-term profit taking opportunity for traders.

By three different measures, the FB stock chart is starting to show signs of a transition from short-term bull into short-term bear mode.

First, Facebook chairs are coming off an overbought reading from its RSI indicator, which peaked about two weeks ago when the stock made its final push to $130. The last time that the stock’s RSI was this high was in May after Facebook shares had popped to just under $122 and then started to roll over, eventually selling off to the $111 level before finding a bottom.

Secondly, the momentum indicator for Facebook shares is showing that the recent consolidation just below $122 is more than that, as momentum is starting to swing to the seller’s advantage.

Finally, after an attempt to break above the top Bollinger band in late July, the stock has been held in the tight trading range, which is resulting in a contraction of the Bollinger bands. A contraction in the bands is often a precursor to an increase in volatility, and given the shift in momentum in oversold indications that volatility is likely to be to the downside for FB.

On a last note, Facebook shares recently moved to one of the largest percentage difference between their closing price and 50-day moving average. This often happens ahead of what technicians refer to as a period of regression to the mean.

According to the charts, shifts in momentum and potential selling pressure should lead FB stock back to support at the $116 level in a relatively short period of time.

MeetMe Inc (MEET)

What comes up, must come down, and in the case of MEET stock that’s exactly what’s happening, as it appears the profit takers finally pushed the “sell” button on this parabolic chart ahead of the company’s earnings results, which were announced after the close yesterday. But there’s an opportunity for traders on the massive decline.

In three days, MeetMe shares have saved off about 35% of their value moving from their highs at $8.15 for the current price of $5.02. To many, the 35% pullback would be seen as a disaster, but for those who either sold at $8 or those who haven’t owned the shares, the technical buying opportunity is in the works.

MEET stock has declined into a dramatic, oversold condition that is worthy of a “dead cat” bounce at the minimum, as the RSI is now matching readings that we saw in April ahead of a quick 25% rally in shares. In addition, MEET shares are sitting at $5.00. Low dollar prices (especially single-digit prices) tend to see support and resistance at even dollar prices. The $5.00 point will produce some buying power for the shares.

The best part, the company provided earnings results that were in-line with the market’s expectations last night. This means that the traders that were “selling the rumor” are now likely to be “buying the news”. This fundamental boost will give the shares upside potential over the short-term.

The risk in this situation is that MEET share prices fall below the $5.75 mark, at which point tactical traders will take even a stronger sell signal from adding to the recent selling pressure. A hold of this technically sensitive area will provide traders with an opportunity to jump on this parabolic mover again for a ride back to $8.00.

Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ATVI)

The approaching holiday season has a positive effect on stocks in the retail sector and electronic or software companies that experience revenue increases due to holiday purchases. Traders often load-up on these companies and “buy the rumor”, making the period from Labor Day through Thanksgiving a historically positive one for companies such as Activision Blizzard.

Of course, the stock stumbled about 5% yesterday, but it was on news that the CEO and Chairman had together sold more than $700 million of their holdings in Activision. As expected, the market reacted poorly to the news that the “insiders” were selling, but a key motivation behind the selling may have been overlooked: they did it for estate planning.

The notion that the insiders sell stock because they KNOW it is going to go down is a falsehood that, in this case, has created a technical buying opportunity for ATVI shares.

The relatively meaningless decline in Activision shares places an attractive technical trade right into the investors’ laps.

Yesterday’s selling took the stock right to the bottom of its current Bollinger Band, a line that has been effective in support shares prices in the past. We saw this technical indicator spark rallies in both May and June of this year.

In addition, ATVI broke below its 50-day moving average yesterday, which will get the trendline traders involved. A move back above this level today ($40.00, which is also round-number support) will indicate that the trendline traders are going bullish on Activision.

ATVI stock is also within a pitching wedge shot of registering an oversold reading from its RSI indicator. The last time traders had a chance to initiate a bullish position using an oversold reading of the RSI was in late May.

Technically, Activision is almost a carbon copy of the late May chart that provided a buy signal. This signal resulted in a FAST 10% rally in the shares. Given the weak reason for yesterday’s selling, our conviction is strong that ATVI stock will follow a similar pattern over the next few weeks.

|

"title": "3 Big Stock Charts: Facebook Inc (FB), Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ATVI) and MeetMe Inc (MEET)",
"body": "
\n
FB shares look ready to roll over, while ATVI and MEET are ready to run higher after their declines
\n
With the stock market still flashing signs of potential weakness as it trades at the top of its range, the charts are continuing to identify a large number of bullish and bearish opportunities. It’s a reminder that, hey, there’s always a bull market somewhere.
\n
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), MeetMe Inc (NASDAQ:MEET) and Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) are three big stock charts you should be paying attention to.
\n
Facebook Inc (FB)
\n
Facebook has been one of the quieter performers in the market lately, especially given the fact the shares normally attract all kinds of attention after earnings. FB stock has made its recent run from $111 to almost $130, setting up a short-term profit taking opportunity for traders.
\n
By three different measures, the FB stock chart is starting to show signs of a transition from short-term bull into short-term bear mode.
\n
First, Facebook chairs are coming off an overbought reading from its RSI indicator, which peaked about two weeks ago when the stock made its final push to $130. The last time that the stock’s RSI was this high was in May after Facebook shares had popped to just under $122 and then started to roll over, eventually selling off to the $111 level before finding a bottom.
\n
Secondly, the momentum indicator for Facebook shares is showing that the recent consolidation just below $122 is more than that, as momentum is starting to swing to the seller’s advantage.
\n
Finally, after an attempt to break above the top Bollinger band in late July, the stock has been held in the tight trading range, which is resulting in a contraction of the Bollinger bands. A contraction in the bands is often a precursor to an increase in volatility, and given the shift in momentum in oversold indications that volatility is likely to be to the downside for FB.
\n
On a last note, Facebook shares recently moved to one of the largest percentage difference between their closing price and 50-day moving average. This often happens ahead of what technicians refer to as a period of regression to the mean.
\n
According to the charts, shifts in momentum and potential selling pressure should lead FB stock back to support at the $116 level in a relatively short period of time.
\n
MeetMe Inc (MEET)
\n
What comes up, must come down, and in the case of MEET stock that’s exactly what’s happening, as it appears the profit takers finally pushed the “sell” button on this parabolic chart ahead of the company’s earnings results, which were announced after the close yesterday. But there’s an opportunity for traders on the massive decline.
\n
In three days, MeetMe shares have saved off about 35% of their value moving from their highs at $8.15 for the current price of $5.02. To many, the 35% pullback would be seen as a disaster, but for those who either sold at $8 or those who haven’t owned the shares, the technical buying opportunity is in the works.
\n
MEET stock has declined into a dramatic, oversold condition that is worthy of a “dead cat” bounce at the minimum, as the RSI is now matching readings that we saw in April ahead of a quick 25% rally in shares. In addition, MEET shares are sitting at $5.00. Low dollar prices (especially single-digit prices) tend to see support and resistance at even dollar prices. The $5.00 point will produce some buying power for the shares.
\n
The best part, the company provided earnings results that were in-line with the market’s expectations last night. This means that the traders that were “selling the rumor” are now likely to be “buying the news”. This fundamental boost will give the shares upside potential over the short-term.
\n
The risk in this situation is that MEET share prices fall below the $5.75 mark, at which point tactical traders will take even a stronger sell signal from adding to the recent selling pressure. A hold of this technically sensitive area will provide traders with an opportunity to jump on this parabolic mover again for a ride back to $8.00.
\n
Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ATVI)
\n
The approaching holiday season has a positive effect on stocks in the retail sector and electronic or software companies that experience revenue increases due to holiday purchases. Traders often load-up on these companies and “buy the rumor”, making the period from Labor Day through Thanksgiving a historically positive one for companies such as Activision Blizzard.
\n

\n
Of course, the stock stumbled about 5% yesterday, but it was on news that the CEO and Chairman had together sold more than $700 million of their holdings in Activision. As expected, the market reacted poorly to the news that the “insiders” were selling, but a key motivation behind the selling may have been overlooked: they did it for estate planning.
\n
The notion that the insiders sell stock because they KNOW it is going to go down is a falsehood that, in this case, has created a technical buying opportunity for ATVI shares.
\n
The relatively meaningless decline in Activision shares places an attractive technical trade right into the investors’ laps.
\n
Yesterday’s selling took the stock right to the bottom of its current Bollinger Band, a line that has been effective in support shares prices in the past. We saw this technical indicator spark rallies in both May and June of this year.
\n
In addition, ATVI broke below its 50-day moving average yesterday, which will get the trendline traders involved. A move back above this level today ($40.00, which is also round-number support) will indicate that the trendline traders are going bullish on Activision.
\n
ATVI stock is also within a pitching wedge shot of registering an oversold reading from its RSI indicator. The last time traders had a chance to initiate a bullish position using an oversold reading of the RSI was in late May.
\n
Technically, Activision is almost a carbon copy of the late May chart that provided a buy signal. This signal resulted in a FAST 10% rally in the shares. Given the weak reason for yesterday’s selling, our conviction is strong that ATVI stock will follow a similar pattern over the next few weeks.
\n
",

But if the Euro is the problem, switching to Bitcoin would be like trying to cure a headache with a bullet to the brain.

The main problem with the Euro is that Greece cannot print more of it; only the European Central Bank can. But at least someone can. In theory, Greece could persuade the European Central Bank to print more Euros for them. On the other hand, if Greece were to switch to Bitcoin, it would have no ability to control how much of their currency they could issue, and no one could be persuaded to issue more bitcoins (not the European Central Bank, not the U.S. Federal Reserve, not the U.S. Marines, no one).

A defining characteristic of Bitcoin is that its supply is fixed and capped. These people have had no choice but to hold on to their national currency as it loses value, in many cases losing everything.

Bitcoin gives people everywhere an alternative. Anyone with a smartphone can hold bitcoins as a refuge from a currency that is losing value. This sends a message to their governments: “let’s have our own currency, but manage it responsibly, because now we have a choice.”

If Bitcoin is successful, it will not replace any country’s local currency, not even Greece. | body |

Convenient and anonymous, alluring and alarming, Bitcoin and other 'cryptocurrencies' come under closer scrutiny. As officialdom tries to figure out if greater oversight is needed, their use is multiplying.

Los Angeles — Celine Sotelo "likes to be on the cutting edge," so she was intrigued when a friend this summer touted the virtues of a new kind of money called Bitcoin. She downloaded the software that would allow her family-owned floral shop/cafe to accept BTC, as Bitcoin is known. In August she posted a sign, "Bitcoin accepted here," at her shop on Los Angeles's Westside.

She got her first taker in mid-November. She hopes it's the dawn of more demand. But Ms. Sotelo says she is also a little worried because, frankly, she doesn't fully understand Bitcoin yet.

"I used the phone app and pushed the right buttons, but I'm a little freaked out," Sotelo says after the customer paid $59.95 to Le Petit Jardin by sending her digital bitcoins via his cellphone. "I have no idea if I got the money or not."

A lot of people, it seems, are both interested in Bitcoin and "a little freaked out" by it. Bitcoin, after all, does not really exist, in the physical sense. It is a digital currency, and buyers use their smart phones to swap online credits with sellers of goods and services willing to accept payment in Bitcoin.

With Bitcoin use exploding since its debut five years ago, officialdom is taking notice – and starting to ask questions. On Nov. 18 Congress held its first hearing on the subject to explore the "potential risks, threats, and promises" of code-based currency operating largely outside any governmental structure. Speculators have lately been snapping up Bitcoin, betting that demand for it will push up the currency's value, even as the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been probing the dark side of Bitcoin transactions.

In the grand scope of all monetary transactions, "cryptocurrencies" such as Bitcoin are used in a tiny fraction of transactions. Only about 600 online businesses worldwide accept Bitcoin, along with a scattered number of brick-and-mortar establishments such as Le Petit Jardin.

But outlets for paying with Bitcoin are multiplying. You can now use BTC to buy cupcakes in San Francisco and salmon in San Diego, rent digs in Brazil or Ireland, and scoop up "enchanting gifts" in Lancashire, England. The Federal Election Commission is discussing whether to allow BTC for campaign donations.

Bitcoin is not the only virtual currency, but it is the best known. Its notoriety is not all sweetness and light, however: In October, the FBI shut down a black market website called Silk Road, where patrons bought and sold illicit goods – such as cocaine, marijuana, child pornography, and weapons – exclusively with Bitcoin. Copycat Bitcoin sites with similar names have already sprung up, and analysts say they are likely to keep doing so because Bitcoin offers an anonymity that is especially attractive to lawbreakers.

Economist Kevin McIntyre at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md., likens the currency to the private money of Colonial times, which continued in use through the 19th century. Before the federal government began issuing cash, banks issued their own tender, backed by valuable metals in their vaults. He calls Bitcoin "private money for the Digital Age."

Virtual currency appeals to some people for financial reasons, says Mr. McIntyre, a specialist in cryptocurrencies. "People are using them as a speculative financial instrument – like investing in British pounds or the euro. People buy them, hoping the value will go up," he says via e-mail.

Other people seek out Bitcoin for reasons of political philosophy, he says, noting that it is popular with the "tinfoil-hat-wearing, Ayn Rand, libertarian, anarchist crowd" that distrusts central banks and their control over money supply. Bitcoin users can remain anonymous. While there is a record of each transaction, who is paying that amount to whom is hidden by the coins' encryption, McIntyre adds.

BTC's popularity has also mushroomed outside the United States. Giant search engine Baidu, otherwise known as the Google of China, now takes Bitcoin as payment for select security services, joining other online businesses such as Reddit, WordPress, and OkCupid. Chinese state-run news media have suggested that the dollar may not be, in the future, the reserve currency for the world.

Bitcoin enthusiasts say the virtual currency is getting an undeserved bad rap, and they caution against a rush to regulation. At the Nov. 18 Senate hearing, a representative of the Bitcoin Foundation, which promotes the currency's standardization and use, said efforts are under way to stabilize its underlying code. He urged lawmakers to weigh the benefits of any new regulation against Bitcoin's role in helping the US remain a leader in innovative technology.

The entrepreneurial desire to break new ground ahead of the mainstream culture is what is driving many early adopters. Take Matt Younkle, founder and chief executive officer of Murfie.com, an online music trading site.

Mr. Younkle knows Bitcoin is confusing to the average person on the street, "but most of our customers are online," he says. "For people who lead a digital lifestyle, this is a coming thing, and we want to be out in front of that." BTC "gives the site a competitive advantage," he says, "because it's the only online music site for trading CDs and other accessories with Bitcoin."

Younkle uses a currency exchange, BitPay, to insulate himself from fluctuations in the value of Bitcoin. It allows him each month to trade in all his Bitcoin income for dollars. The transaction fees are much smaller than what banks charge for credit-card transactions.

Three years ago Richard Kohl, another Bitcoin advocate, helped found PikaPay, a service designed to make sending Bitcoin easy by using Twitter.

Since the global economic crisis, he explains, some people, especially those who are tech-savvy, have come to believe "that slightly more separation between government and banking may be beneficial to communities around the world." That belief is one of the things fueling Bitcoin as "a popular underground revolution," Mr. Kohl adds.

Critics, however, point out the currency's instability, noting the wild historical price swings. For instance, when the US Department of Homeland Security in May shut down activity between a mobile payment service, Dwolla, and the largest Bitcoin exchange, MtGox, Bitcoin prices fell 75 percent. But just in the past few weeks, prices have climbed back from below $200 to nearly $600 per bitcoin.

Not to worry, asserts Erik Voorhees, an early Bitcoin entrepreneur.

"This is a temporary affliction, because Bitcoin is still a small market and is very new," he says. "As it matures, its price will stabilize." Mr. Voorhees is reassured by the fact that bitcoins, unlike dollars, cannot be "created out of thin air, with no limit" by the US government.

Price instability is not the only concern of critics. Indeed, virtual currencies have so many challenges that they may not be surmountable, says Patrick Morris, chief executive officer of HAGIN Investment Management in New York. The major problems with Bitcoin, he says, are its attractiveness to black marketeers, money launderers, and dictators; the absence of vested national interests to support the currency in a crisis; and the risk that it could lose all its value and become extinct overnight.

"History has not been kind to financial institutions or instruments that attract a large number of illegal or questionable transactions," he says. He cites the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, which, much like virtual currency, had been set up to avoid regulatory oversight. It collapsed in 1991 after regulators noticed it had become a magnet for drug and arms dealers, and rogue political figures.

On the question of government support, every new financial instrument faces the music eventually, Mr. Morris says. Bitcoin is a derivative instrument. People with "real" currency – that is, government-issued currency – buy bitcoins and are suddenly only liquid to the extent that the Bitcoin market functions for the purchase of goods and services, he says.

"There is no guaranteed 'exchange rate' for this currency against any other in the world since it has no basis of value other than the merchants or individuals who are willing to accept it," Morris says. If Bitcoin security protocols were to suddenly and dramatically fail – which he asserts they will – "that devalues the currency. How do you exit it without facing potentially months or years of zero liquidity?"

The nature of the instrument almost guarantees that the market will lock up at some point and that the Bitcoin millionaires will be wiped out, Morris predicts. "The bad news, or the worst news, is that if Bitcoin fails it is a 100 percent loss."

On the other hand, as with all technologies, Bitcoin should be expected to evolve, says Daniel Castro, senior analyst at the Washington-based Information Technology & Innovation Foundation.

"Bitcoin 2.0 might look different than what we have now," he says, "but it is clear that the trend is toward more electronic transactions, not fewer."

http://launch.newsinc.com/share.html?trackingGroup=90962&siteSection=csmonitor_nws_non_sty_dynamic&videoId=25397752

|

Bitcoin is a derivative instrument. People with \"real\" currency – that is, government-issued currency – buy bitcoins and are suddenly only liquid to the extent that the Bitcoin market functions for the purchase of goods and services, he says.
\n
\"There is no guaranteed 'exchange rate' for this currency against any other in the world since it has no basis of value other than the merchants or individuals who are willing to accept it,\" Morris says. If Bitcoin security protocols were to suddenly and dramatically fail – which he asserts they will – \"that devalues the currency. How do you exit it without facing potentially months or years of zero liquidity?\"
\n
The nature of the instrument almost guarantees that the market will lock up at some point and that the Bitcoin millionaires will be wiped out, Morris predicts. \"The bad news, or the worst news, is that if Bitcoin fails it is a 100 percent loss.\"
\n
On the other hand, as with all technologies, Bitcoin should be expected to evolve, says Daniel Castro, senior analyst at the Washington-based Information Technology & Innovation Foundation.
\n
\"Bitcoin 2.0 might look different than what we have now,\" he says, \"but it is clear that the trend is toward more electronic transactions, not fewer.\"
\n
http://launch.newsinc.com/share.html?trackingGroup=90962&siteSection=csmonitor_nws_non_sty_dynamic&videoId=25397752
\n
",

| title | Why When Sunrise and Sunset Red Visible ? |
| body |

Good Afternoon / Evening / Morning / Afternoon Everything

We would often see at sunrise or sunset , when the sun rises and sets , the sky will look reddish . Why is that? why not blue like during the day? yuk refer to the explanation

At sunrise and sunset , the sky will be partially colored red. This phenomenon can be explained on the basis of light scattering by atmospheric molecules . Scattering of light by the Earth's atmosphere depends on the wavelength . For particles that are much smaller than the wavelength of light ( such as air molecules ) , the particles are not a big hurdle for wavelengths longer than for short . Reduced scattering , red and orange light scattered less than blue and purple , which is the cause of a blue sky . At sunset , on the other hand , the light beam passing through the sun 's atmosphere maximum length . Lots of blue that has been issued by scattering . The light that reaches the earth's surface means less blue , which is the reason reddish sunset .

Only blue sky during the day. There are several reasons why the sky was blue. Earth shrouded in a layer of air called the atmosphere. Although not visible, the air is actually made up of tiny particles. Light of the sun scattered by small particles in the atmosphere. But we know, the light from the sun is composed of a blend of all colors, from red, yellow, green, blue, to purple. The colors that have different frequencies. Red has a smaller frequency of yellow, smaller than the green, green is smaller than blue, blue is smaller than purple. The greater the frequency of the light, the stronger the light was scattered. The sky is partly dissipated sunlight. Because most dissipated is high frequency colors (green, blue, and purple), then the sky has a mix of colors, which when combined into a bright blue. Because many dissipated blue, the color white sun is not perfect, as it should have happened if all the colors combined. The color of the sun becomes a little bit orange. In the afternoons, often the sun turned red. At that time, the sun already slanted longer distances to reach our eyes, so that more light scattered. So that a lot remains is low-frequency light, which is red.

In the month and on the planet that does not have an atmosphere , solar light is not scattered , so the sky is always black , even in daylight . Tyndall effect may also explain why the sky is blue during the day , whereas when the sun sets on the western horizon orange or red . That is because the scattering of sunlight by colloidal particles in space , and not all frequencies sunlight dissipated with the same intensity . Therefore, the light intensity is directly proportional to the frequency , then when the sun passed over us , the higher the frequency of the lot up to our eyes , so we see the blue sky .

When the sun was about to set , light scattering whose frequency is low, that more get to us , so we watched the sky orange or red . We recall strands visible light in the spectrum of light, red - orange - yellow - green - blue - purple . From the order red to purple , the higher the frequency . So the colors red approach has a high frequency of the light , and the colors purple approach has low-light frequency .

|

If you happen to visit any country in the Middle East or anywhere in the world for that matter, you always meet new people. It could be at work (عمل), school (مدرسة) or just at a random social gathering (لقاء اجتماعي). You might land a new job in the Middle East or go on a study abroad program for a semester or simply decide to visit one of the many beautiful destinations. You could be going into a store for some shopping or just browsing around for restaurants, some random individual might ask you: ‘where are you from?’ I am dedicating this post to teach you two obvious things that come to mind when meeting new people. First, the basic common greeting of ‘Hello’; and the second refers to introducing yourself by ‘my name is…’ After this post, I am confident you will be able to say ‘hello… and my name is…’ I am sure that we have all had our fair share of such encounters. Some might not go beyond the hello part, while others might evolve beyond this basic point of conversation. Well these might be easy to many folks that follow the blog; I feel it is important to spend some time on these basic fundamentals, especially for folks that just began learning Arabic.

Let’s Say Hello!

|

| body |

In my adult life, I’ve owned two bikes: a red bike and a blue bike. The red bike was the one that my parents bought for me when I turned 15, a Specialized hybrid from Erik’s bike shop in Eagan. It still fits me. I like to think of red bike as Frankenbike, because I’ve changed it in various ways over the years to suit my needs. My parents and I disassembled it once in their garage, cleaned it, spray painted it, and put it back together with a different seat and cruiser handlebars. It was red bike that I used all this past winter for winter riding. It was red bike’s basket in which my dog rode when she was a brand-new tiny puppy. I love red bike, but this isn’t about red bike. This post is about blue bike.

Blue bike is the first and only bike I’ve ever bought myself, and it took me way too long to buy it. Eventually, while riding red bike, enough people said to me “you biked this far, on that bike?” that I decided to get an actual road bike. At the Hub on Minnehaha Avenue, one fine spring day in 2012, I purchased blue bike. I tried many new bikes, but this scrappy little used Fuji caught my eye. This bike became my companion on many rides, adventures, and explorations.

I didn’t think that buying a road bike would make a difference, especially because both of my bikes are about the same weight. But the different riding position and slimmer tires really did make a difference. I’ve done so many things with blue bike, and over the years it’s been one of my favorite photographic subjects, as you’ll see below.

I figured out how to transport my dog via bike. I bought a bike trailer from Craigslist, pulled out the baby seats, and affixed some plywood to the bottom. Now I can pull her around for miles, I think the longest we’ve done in one day is 16 miles. The trailer is about 30lbs and my dog is 37lbs, so it also helps my legs get extra muscly.

One of the best things I’ve purchased for my bike is a messenger bag that is also a pannier. Back in 2012 when I was looking for this, I could only find the one by Timbuk2 which I bought. Now, Etsy has tons of them. I like not having a sweat outline in the shape of my bag, and I don’t like anything touching me while biking.

I’ve commuted to the University of Minnesota both when I was a student (undergrad and graduate), and later, when I was employed on campus. I’ve ridden across the Washington Avenue bridge so many times. A few days ago I was over on campus for Grease Rag and crossed over this bridge with a wave of nostalgia.

I’ve biked for exercise, I’ve biked for transportation, I’ve biked to social events, costume parties, and dates. I’ve biked in pants and I’ve biked in skirts.

I now ride my bike to work along the Midtown Greenway and Cedar Lake trails, and when I get there I get to hang it on the wall just opposite my desk.

Other notable things blue bike and I have done together include: biking 60 miles as part of the Red Ribbon Ride Friendraiser, racing my first alley cat, Babes in Bikeland, riding during three consecutive Northern Sparks festivals, exploring the bike mystery at Ruination, participating in my first group ride (and many since), and many, many rides with friends.

Buying a road bike was something that propelled me from being a very casual rider to someone who bikes as much as possible, including through the winter. I love this bike and the the things we’ve done together, and I’m looking forward to a summer full of new firsts and new memories.

|
