I am very serious since I have now done both in my life.\n\nWhen you mention your faith to someone, they typically glaze over and start repeating all the misinformation they heard someone say or some quote that's 300 years old and simply inaccurate.\n\nSame exact thing when you bring up XRP.  They claim it's a banker's coin(false) and that it's not decentralized(false) and that so and so's uncle lost a ton of money...etc.\n\nThe xrp community has a very unique perspective on sharing the message of XRP's value.\nThe same can be said of followers of Christ.\n\nJust an observation this Monday morning.\n\n~ike",

      "body": "<html>\n<p>I've posted about this before, those guys who are using a very similar name to my own business that are scamming customers all over the US and Canada. &nbsp;\"America Geeks\" or aka \"Geek Americas\"</p>\n<p>Today I received yet another phone call from a gentleman in Canada who had been taken for over $4,000 from these scum bags. &nbsp;&nbsp;While on the phone though we talked a while and my wife did some more digging into them...</p>\n<p>First of all, they no longer have a live website, nor facebook. &nbsp;They have been taken down. &nbsp;The Better Business Bureau shows them as OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!</p>\n<p>SO....</p>\n<p>This means that an EX employee, or possibly rogue employees have taken it upon themselves to use the famous \"We're out of business, and want to refund your money\" scam.</p>\n<p>In this scam they connect to your computer and have you log into your bank account....(This should be a HUGE flag to ANY ONE, but sadly they get their victims this far in many cases)</p>\n<p>Then they use the victim's OWN savings account and transfer money into checking. &nbsp;In this case if they claim to be refunding you 400, they will transfer from savings 4,000. &nbsp;&nbsp;And then the guy will freak out and tell you he's made a horrible mistake and that his job is on the line and that he's got a family to feed.</p>\n<p>They then ask the victim, to RUSH to any place that sells gift cards and return the \"overpayment\" of the 3,500 by buying and then reading the card numbers to him over the phone.</p>\n<p>This is the victim giving their own money happily over to the scammer.</p>\n<p>Folks....If your IT company came about because you got a popup on your screen telling you to call them...think about it...You got led to them by their own virus which then pointed you to the scammer to \"fix\" his own virus. &nbsp;Do you really want to do business with an IT company that scammed you to be their customer to begin with?</p>\n<p>It's so sad.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>~ike</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "<html>\n<p>\"...you have to do it yourself.\"</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>In today's tech world, it seems as if it's really prohibitive if you just try and learn one thing or area of expertise and not continue to broaden your skillsets. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>In today's example, I give you my own example... &nbsp;Animation.</p>\n<p>I can do almost anything with sound, being a sound engineer and music producer. &nbsp;But being able to add video to that mix is an entirely other skillset. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>With video you can take a boring beat or melody and turn it into something far less boring. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>I have often wished I could animate so I could bring some of my less popular songs to market with something to keep the mind's eye focused, but paying someone to do a simple animation is simply .....not cost effective seeing as how I don't charge for my music.</p>\n<p>So low and behold, I started googling up who makes the best animation software and discovered I'm already paying for one that is in the top 5. &nbsp;My wife keeps a subscription to Adobe CC and so I shall try my hand at learning Adobe Animate.</p>\n<p>Learning a new specialized software at my age is getting to be a challenge all by itself as my ability to absorb info isn't anything like when I was a kid. But with a short video and alot of determination, I was already able to learn how to use the new camera tool and tween between keyframes!!!! &nbsp;&nbsp;I must say I feel like a pro already.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>~ike</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "<html>\n<p>As a business owner, one has many different kinds of struggles and lessons to go through.</p>\n<p>It's a great tool to learn from one's mistakes and improve one's self. &nbsp;In the last few months, however, I have started getting phone calls from angry customers that I've never done any work for, nor ever met before!!!</p>\n<p>I even started getting bad reviews on my facebook page from total strangers!</p>\n<p>The worst part is the angry voicemail messages from people angry and making threats. &nbsp;People I have never met before.</p>\n<p>Well it turns out a SCAM company has started up doing IT Remote tech support and they call themselves \"America Geeks\" which is just slightly different from MY NAME \"American Geek Computers\"</p>\n<p>They are NOT in the USA, so they used a name that would generate favor with US customers, except they're just out to rip them off!!! &nbsp;This is very difficult to fix folks. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p>I've spent 6+ years building up my company name and reputation and these guys have come along and given my integrity a huge blow. &nbsp;A google search for any variation of the name gets massive fraud hits and I'm pretty sure this has affected my local small business too as calls for new customers has really dropped off over the last 9 months.</p>\n<p>The question is \"What can be done?\" &nbsp;</p>\n<p>Changing my name won't wipe off the bad blemish associated with my name, nor will it go away from the internet at this point.</p>\n<p>I've branded this name so changing it would be very expensive to reprint shirts, cards, websites, you name it. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>I'd like to hear what you guys think and suggest!</p>\n<p>The part that hurts so much is that this company takes people's credit cards and rips them off. &nbsp;I don't even take credit cards at all, but people call me up demanding I put their money back on their card. &nbsp;</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "<html>\n<p>30 years ago nobody got triggered, or angry by reading the title of this blog post. &nbsp;If you're such an individual then this is not for you.</p>\n<p>Woke up early yesterday to mow the grass because it was going to rain in the afternoon. &nbsp;The wife and I jumped out and mowed and the lawn looks perfect after it's mowed...I mean every blade of grass is just perfect.</p>\n<p>She puts out bird seed on 2 places in our back yard and the birds come by the dozens to feast and play and chirp and squirrels are everywhere in the early morning sunlight.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>The cats plaster themselves into the open windows so they can watch the birds and squirrels do their thing while the breeze gently moves through keeping the day just right.</p>\n<p>put on some very relaxed clothing and started my work day. &nbsp;Since I own my own business I slept in today until 11am. &nbsp;Then I logged into my first customer's pc remotely and fixed her issues. &nbsp;Just a simple windows update and reboot was all that was causing the problem, and some minor malware which was scanned for and removed. &nbsp;Just like that I have billed an hour labor without having to put on my shoes. &nbsp;I love my job.</p>\n<p>Next Customer, a laptop that needs old software removed, and new put on. &nbsp;Done and Done, one hour labor. &nbsp;Man I've made $120 bucks today and still groggy.</p>\n<p>Next a phone call comes in, a customer can't connect to the internet... &nbsp;I'll go visit them tomorrow. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>This is what the efforts of hard work yield after a few years of working for myself has earned me. &nbsp;The process will continue until I am bored or change professions. &nbsp;I have the freedom to take a day off anytime I want, or go someone at any time I want. &nbsp;Nobody can call me into their office to complain about my getting to work on time or tell me my call times are too high, or tell me I don't do something fast enough for them. &nbsp;I don't have to worry about how fast I can satisfy someone at a register, or a drive thru, or .....anything. &nbsp;I take my time and the calls come in, and my pay rolls in.</p>\n<p>Socialism can NEVER give me this...ever. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Tomorrow I'm going to go work on finding another income stream....&nbsp;</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "It's a bit odd to me, but maybe I'm a little old fashioned, but I have never encountered the level of people threatened by others who are trying to succeed by working hard in their hobby.\n\nI am of course, referring to someone who offers their services as a recording engineer.  Let us set the stage....\n\nA friend of the family came into an inheritance, and then had the means to fulfill a lifelong dream of making a recording studio.  Perhaps I should back up a step first:\n\nI, myself, and my circle of family and friends are musical in many aspects of our lives.  And so, when one of us fell into some money we all knocked our heads together and came up with the idea to start a recording studio.  The primary goal, not to make money, but to have a means to record and produce OUR OWN music.  As the idea evolved, it turned into making it a viable business so that the music habit could support itself.\n\nNow we're back on track.\n\nCall us naive if you must, but we invited every single person we could find to join up with us, network with us, come to weekly meetings to offer input and ideas.  Our goal is to be a hub to help people of like mind network, share, join forces.  Any guy with a home studio in his closet or basement was invited to come share their ideas and insights.  We asked SEVERAL of them to become our engineers, never asking or requiring them to give up their own endeavors, but to share in our 3000+ sq. ft. space and be a part of \"the family.\"\n\nNow enter the devil...\n\nIt was odd to us that some would come the meeting and act and say things to indicate they are on board and interested, but then we'd see this concerted effort on their part to push their own endeavors online.  Soonafter some directly attacked us as having inferior gear compared to studios in other towns a couple hours away.  Mind you we're the only recording studio in this town, no others at all.  \n\nThey make jabs online about our price, jabs about our gear, jabs about not having as good looking a studio as others.  Studios that aren't even theirs, they'd go out of their way to raise them up and push us down.  \n\nI've been in the recording realm myself going on 30 years, and I don't typically brag about it.  But when a guy claims tha the gear is what makes a good recording I just have to call B.S.  I have heard better recordings on a cassette tape than on an album that cost more than 10k because of the quality of the person running the gear.  It's how you use it, not the cost of it that makes a good recording.\n\nWhat I don't understand, and please help me understand this:  Why would they do this?  I assure you we did or said nothing but positive remarks to any of them from the very beginning.  The owner of the studio has let guys in there that you would cringe at once you got to know them.  We've already had to learn the hard way because we've been far too lax letting almost anyone walk in the door and ask to be involved; Those that want to anyway.\n\nI honestly believe I know the answer, but if the situation were reversed and I was the one who didn't get to be in on it, but was invited to the meetings and invited to be a part of it, I honestly believe that I'd be supportive of the project even if I chose to walk away from it.\n\nIf I had never met any of these folks, and just learned that a studio opened in my town I would be interested to see them do well because its a local business for one thing, and it can meet needs that guys who run studios in their closets can't. \n\nOK, so this post is more of a whine and a rant about some, but I havn't had this kind of odd behavior in my own business of IT.  In fact the IT companies in my town are all pretty respectful and supportive of each other.  We all recognize that there is plenty of business to go around and that we all have our strong points to each other.  Very different behavior.\n\nSo what say ye community of the world?
