| title | 29 Steemit Post Types to Attract More Followers & Boost Your Popularity (Part 2) |
| body | Yup, totally didn't expect yesterday's post to be so long. When I first listed out all the 29 types of contents, it sure didn't look as long. Then when I started elaborating on each of them, and before I knew it, an hour has passed, and I was only at #15! But is the elaboration necessary? Of course. Without it, the post types won't hit home, and you (and the readers) won't be able to visualise how to package the different types of Steemit posts. Is there one that is better than the other? Yes and No. Yes, because there are some contents that can be packaged more effectively, and easily, in certain formats. No, because it is up to your preference as a writer too. Each of us have a different way of processing and categorising information. PACKAGING EXAMPLES Let me give you an example. Say you want to create a post around the latest musical hit, The Greatest Showman. Some ways you can package the contents are: List - 7 things you didn't know about The Greatest Showman Review - My honest take on The Greatest Showman, and why I think it's my Greatest Show of 2018! Dummies Guide - How the Dances are Choreographed in The Greatest Showman | A step-by-step guide Recommendations/Curation - 10 other movies that you should watch if you loved The Greatest Showman Failure Stories - Why The Greatest Showman's PT Barnum is a dick in real life Success Stories - Bet you didn't know what Hugh Jackman's doctor said to him before his audition! Interview with Subject Matter Experts - One secret Rebecca Ferguson told me about her role as Jenny Lind in The Greatest Showman Facts & Figures - Records Sales for the Greatest Showman | Monthly Box Office Update And for those who have zero clue what I just talked about… Kinda cool eh? Not just the trailer but how one topic - one idea, can generate so many different post types. And if you apply the Chunking Method mentioned in my previous post (How to generate at least 365 post ideas for your Steemit Life (and possibly never run out of ideas again!)… man, sky's the limit! Cool! Ready to continue the list? 16. Mythbusters Ah, conspiracy lovers and controversial tale seekers. These kind of posts plays with your readers' natural curiosity, and if you angle the title right, it's a great click bait! That's because, internally, humans like to be correct. Call it ego or pride, or just plain human nature. So when something we know is being challenged, we will try to disprove it. Hence the click bait. :) 17. New (Updated) Editions Some of your contents will need to be updated over time. The sad thing about Steemit (or should I say the best thing :P), is that your posts cannot be edited after 7 days. This is where trending contents work well, because within 3 to 6 months, you will have new info, and it's time for a new post! A few contents that fits this post types are: consumer behaviour reports, market statistics, crypto-analysis, softwares and hardwares, data of sectors/indsutries/countries and more! One brilliant example, which turned out to be a brilliant business model too, was Derek Siver's Woodegg. It's a site that Derek started in 2012 when he was living in Singapore, and he wanted to know more about his neighbouring countries. Check it out. Image source 18. Definitions If your experience at work revolved around technical terms that the general public do not understand, you are sitting on a goldmine of post ideas! From P/E Ratios to Click-Through-Rates, Coleman Liau Index to FIFO, the possibilities are endless! Your ultimate value, though, is not just providing the definition, which your readers can just take off a dictionary. Instead, focus on what it means to your readers. Dumb it down for them, to a level that they can relate to. Give them examples that can help them connect the dots. Now, if you think about it, that's one heck of a post series! And since Steemit is on a blockchain, and new terms are literally created everyday, you should totally do a series on it! 19. Tutorials & E-Courses (Steem Courses) Kinda like the how-to or dummies guide, but tutorials or e-courses are usually more detailed, step-by-step with videos or screen shots. And remember, you are not writing for experts, because they would already know what you're trying to teach. Think of the amateurs, the newbies, and how to guide them effectively. Make it simple for them, breakdown into smaller steps if you have to, and extend a little helpline where they can reach you should they need more guidance. Boy, do this well, and you're gonna be Steemit's Most Loved Player! Oh yeah, if tutorials are your thing, you may also wanna check out what the folks at @utopian-io. 20. New Solutions to Common Problems We live in an age of technology and various advancements, but we still have same old problems to deal with. Do a quick AnswerThePublic around your topics, and see what questions are being asked about them. That's tremendous insight into challenges others are having, and if you have new, innovative solutions to it, you're in luck! Psychologically, because it's a common problem, when your title promises something controversial or unheard-off, it's a natural click bait. A few examples that come to mind are: This mom took isotonic drinks to fix her migraines! How to use Eventbrite to boost app downloads Why Tinder is a great channel to promote your restaurant business 21. Top Things Fundamentally, this works like a list type or recommendations, but the key difference here is the priority and urgency around your contents. For example, many would have create topics around travels and lifestyles, which is why contents like "Top things you need to do in Bali" and "Top jazz bars you have to visit before you die (touch wood)" works really well. Your readers already know there are lots of options, and they value the fact that you help them rank it, so they can make better decisions around it. 22. Pros & Cons Ah, the comparisons. Some would call this post types as the 2.0 of product reviews. Here's also where you expertise on the subject comes heavily into play. If you are able to constructively layout the differences between two competing products or services, sprinkling your personal biases only when needed, your readers would appreciate that. You will enjoy a huge boost credibility, and fans will chime in at the comments section, driving engagement to your posts. 23. FAQ If writing is not really your super power, and linking sentences and paragraphs is an issue, the this is your lucky break. Especially if you have a wealth of knowledge in a particular area, and is aware of the common questions asked around the topic. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), is basically a simple post packed with a list of questions and answers. It can be a long article, so consider breaking it into different posts if you have to. For the latter, consider using categories to group the questions together. Heck, due to the nature of the 7 day edit period, you can even combine this with #17 (New and Updated Editions), and have updated FAQs every few months! 24. SAQ Short for Should Asked Questions, this is a hybrid of a checklists and newbies guide. Because you're a subject matter expert in a certain area, you probably know the ins-and-outs of the industry. Highly useful before a big purchase or one with a long-term commitment - investments, properties, insurance policies - your readers will appreciate your inside-info because chances are, you're gonna save time lots of time and money, and probably from mistakes too! 25. Series Posts Kinda like my daily Mini Motivations, this sets a tone of consistency, something your readers can expect from you regularly. It also creates continuity, and chances are, if they liked one of the posts within your series, they will read through the previous ones as well. And if you regularly win their hearts, the Follow Button is just the next natural thing for them to click on. Of course, you can adapt the proven formula of TV series and employ them in your writing, especially in fiction. Leave your readers in a cliff-hanger as they anticipate for the next post from you. You've just opened up a loop in their minds, and until they "close" it, you and your posts will be percolating in the back of their mind. #sick 26. Seasonal Posts Ah, the holidays. It's on everyone's mind, which also mean there's probably an influx of posts just like yours, making it harder to stand out. That's where your creativity comes in. Personally, I avoid seasonal posts because it has a short life span; it's not evergreen, and you gotta put in extra effort to gain the attention. Still, don't let my personal preferences stop you. If you have an interesting twist to your post, you can benefit from being under the (crowded) spot lights. This is totally a double-edge sword thing. :) 27. BTS Posts Highly recommended for video, event and music producers, Behind-The-Scene is a great way to lure fans and interested parties alike. The thing is this: people are generally curious when it comes to how things are made, and if it's something they are familiar with - say a short video, trending song or a sensational event - they will be keen to know what goes into the mix to produce it, who are the people involved, what are the challengers and more. A recommended use is to have a post dedicated just for the video or audio content, and have a separate BTS post a few days later to drive traffic to both pieces of contents. I'll admit, I haven't done much of these, so if you have a few tips, do let me know in the commends below. 28. Crowd-Source Posts Image source This was a post idea given to me by one of my friend, Yasmin (@icehockeyandher), who is a travel blogger and ice hockey enthusiast. She hosted a few sessions of Ask Me Anything (AMA) at AMAfeed.com, where she just posted a little bio about herself (travel blogger, marketer, national ice hockey player etc), and anyone can ask her questions about that her, her job, experiences, expertise everything! It's almost like a FAQ post, but just a lot more interactive, since the questions are from real people. And If I'm not mistaken, she mentioned she got paid for hosting those sessions too. Check out the site, and use it as a means to crowd-source contents for your Steemit posts. 29. Contest Posts There are many of these on Steemit - from tee shirt design to photography to poetry writing to even an icon design. If you got some SBDs lying around or a decent amount of Steem Power (or delegation), hosting a few contest will rapidly boost up your number of followers, upvotes, mentions and overall popularity. Try to be different from the rest of the contests around though, because nobody wants a me-too. :) So there you have it. A WHOPPING TWENTY NINE different post types for your Steemit Career! Actually I have a couple more which didn't make the list, but I think with the 365 post ideas, combined with 29 different ways to package it, is probably gonna keep you super busy until 2027! Heck, and these are just for written contents. You can totally take things up a few notches with videos, podcasts, animations… #nolimits If you do use one of the post types from here, leave a comment below with the link to your post. Would love to check it out. Probably gonna take a weekend break after a week full of long form posts :) Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays? Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you: Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos) Upvote (like) other people contents Comment on other people's posts Have discussions, share opinions etc! Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along! The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side! Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome follow_maverickfoo.gif |

That's tremendous insight into challenges others are having, and if you have new, innovative solutions to it, you're in luck!\n\nPsychologically, because it's a common problem, when your title promises something controversial or unheard-off, it's a natural click bait.\n\nA few examples that come to mind are:\n\nThis mom took isotonic drinks to fix her migraines!\n\nHow to use Eventbrite to boost app downloads\n\nWhy Tinder is a great channel to promote your restaurant business\n\n\n\n21. Top Things\n\n\nFundamentally, this works like a list type or recommendations, but the key difference here is the priority and urgency around your contents.\n\nFor example, many would have create topics around travels and lifestyles, which is why contents like \"Top things you need to do in Bali\" and \"Top jazz bars you have to visit before you die (touch wood)\" works really well. Your readers already know there are lots of options, and they value the fact that you help them rank it, so they can make better decisions around it.\n\n22. Pros & Cons\n\n\nAh, the comparisons. Some would call this post types as the 2.0 of product reviews. Here's also where you expertise on the subject comes heavily into play. If you are able to constructively layout the differences between two competing products or services, sprinkling your personal biases only when needed, your readers would appreciate that. You will enjoy a huge boost credibility, and fans will chime in at the comments section, driving engagement to your posts.\n\n23. FAQ\n\n\nIf writing is not really your super power, and linking sentences and paragraphs is an issue, the this is your lucky break. Especially if you have a wealth of knowledge in a particular area, and is aware of the common questions asked around the topic.\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ), is basically a simple post packed with a list of questions and answers. It can be a long article, so consider breaking it into different posts if you have to. For the latter, consider using categories to group the questions together.\n\nHeck, due to the nature of the 7 day edit period, you can even combine this with #17 (New and Updated Editions), and have updated FAQs every few months!\n\n24. SAQ\n\n\nShort for Should Asked Questions, this is a hybrid of a checklists and newbies guide. Because you're a subject matter expert in a certain area, you probably know the ins-and-outs of the industry.\n\nHighly useful before a big purchase or one with a long-term commitment - investments, properties, insurance policies - your readers will appreciate your inside-info because chances are, you're gonna save time lots of time and money, and probably from mistakes too!\n\n25. Series Posts\n\n\nKinda like my daily Mini Motivations, this sets a tone of consistency, something your readers can expect from you regularly. It also creates continuity, and chances are, if they liked one of the posts within your series, they will read through the previous ones as well. And if you regularly win their hearts, the Follow Button is just the next natural thing for them to click on.\n\nOf course, you can adapt the proven formula of TV series and employ them in your writing, especially in fiction. Leave your readers in a cliff-hanger as they anticipate for the next post from you. You've just opened up a loop in their minds, and until they \"close\" it, you and your posts will be percolating in the back of their mind. #sick\n\n26. Seasonal Posts\n\n\nAh, the holidays. It's on everyone's mind, which also mean there's probably an influx of posts just like yours, making it harder to stand out.\n\nThat's where your creativity comes in.\n\nPersonally, I avoid seasonal posts because it has a short life span; it's not evergreen, and you gotta put in extra effort to gain the attention. Still, don't let my personal preferences stop you. If you have an interesting twist to your post, you can benefit from being under the (crowded) spot lights. This is totally a double-edge sword thing. :)\n\n27. BTS Posts\n\n\nHighly recommended for video, event and music producers, Behind-The-Scene is a great way to lure fans and interested parties alike. The thing is this: people are generally curious when it comes to how things are made, and if it's something they are familiar with - say a short video, trending song or a sensational event - they will be keen to know what goes into the mix to produce it, who are the people involved, what are the challengers and more.\n\nA recommended use is to have a post dedicated just for the video or audio content, and have a separate BTS post a few days later to drive traffic to both pieces of contents.\n\nI'll admit, I haven't done much of these, so if you have a few tips, do let me know in the commends below.\n\n28. Crowd-Source Posts\n\nImage source\n\nThis was a post idea given to me by one of my friend, Yasmin (@icehockeyandher), who is a travel blogger and ice hockey enthusiast. Check out the site, and use it as a means to crowd-source contents for your Steemit posts.\n\n29. Contest Posts\n\n\nThere are many of these on Steemit - from tee shirt design to photography to poetry writing to even an icon design. If you got some SBDs lying around or a decent amount of Steem Power (or delegation), hosting a few contest will rapidly boost up your number of followers, upvotes, mentions and overall popularity. Try to be different from the rest of the contests around though, because nobody wants a me-too. :)\n\nSo there you have it. A WHOPPING TWENTY NINE different post types for your Steemit Career! Actually I have a couple more which didn't make the list, but I think with the 365 post ideas, combined with 29 different ways to package it, is probably gonna keep you super busy until 2027!\n\nHeck, and these are just for written contents. You can totally take things up a few notches with videos, podcasts, animations… #nolimits\n\nIf you do use one of the post types from here, leave a comment below with the link to your post. Would love to check it out.\n\nProbably gonna take a weekend break after a week full of long form posts :)\n\nWait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?\n\nWell, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:\n\nCreate content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)\nUpvote (like) other people contents\nComment on other people's posts\nHave discussions, share opinions etc!\nYup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!\n\nThe only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!\n\nSign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome\n\nfollow_maverickfoo.gif",

| title | How to Become a millionaire with Amazon Affiliate |
| body | I love the Amazon Associates program, though I will be the first to admit it took me a long time to make the most of it. Today, I couldn’t remember the last month I didn’t get a deposit from Amazon. Though Amazon is not my sole avenue for affiliate income, it is definitely worth the time. Here are a few of my favorite tips for making money with Amazon's affiliate program. Amazon Associates Program Pros Amazon offers several ways to receive your commissions. Payments are made approximately 60 days from the end of the month that you hit your threshold. (Ex. If you make payout in January, you will receive your payment towards the end of March.) Amazon Gift Card/Certificate – $10 minimum Direct Deposit – $10 minimum Check – $100 minimum In addition to the multiple payment methods and low threshold for receiving payment, there are a few other things I really like about the program: Easy to implement, even for beginner affiliate marketers Huge variety of products to promote Well-known and trusted merchant You can link to individual products easily rather than having only a generic creative available Potential Cons The cookie duration is short – 24 hours – UNLESS the person adds an item to their cart. Then your cookie is locked in for 89 days. Some complain that the commission rate is low. However, I find it comparable to other big merchants for which I am an affiliate. The Amazon Associates Program is prohibited in some states. Tips for Becoming a Successful Amazon Affiliate Don’t Grasp at Straws – First things first – be honest with what your audience expects, whether your site is new or old. Choose products to promote based on your content. Is there a book that further covers the topic you are discussing? Do they need special tools or ingredients to make that recipe or craft? Product Selection – Don’t start posting about every product relevant to your niche. You will lose your reader’s trust if they hop over to see everyone else is giving the item 2 or 3 stars. Feature products you love, bestsellers and hot new releases. If there is a flaw, point it out and let your reader know whether it’s a deal-breaker or a minor inconvenience. Dig down – Especially at this time of year, everyone is posting Top 10 lists. Rather than going generic (Top 10 Laptops), dig down deeper to catch their attention (Top 10 Budget Laptops for Broke Students). Promote via Post – The conversion rate for banner ads is far lower than text links – Amazon or not. You are going to make your money pre-selling products. That may be reviews, product comparisons, gift guides or other types of recommendations. Include at least two links and a product image. If you need to fill those sidebar widgets, try the Carousel Widget. It is far more interactive and engaging. Mix Inexpensive with High End – Many want-to-be-successful Amazon Associates go for broke straight out of the gate. Your reader pool for 3 Ct. diamond engagement rings is far smaller than those looking for wedding invitations and the former is going to be a much harder sell. Mix up your price points to get moving through the performance ranks. And you will likely find it is rare that you ever make a single-item sale on things priced under $35. That is Amazon’s new “free shipping” threshold. Even if your recommended product is $7 your reader is likely going to keep adding to their cart until they hit the free shipping mark. Let Amazon Close the Sale – You do not need to be high pressure, nor should you be. Inform your reader and let Amazon close the sale. Amazon will also recommend complimentary products, push that free shipping and show alternatives. Let them do the heavy lifting. Get Some Cool Tools – There are some really neat things out there to help save you time and boost your conversion rates. I have been using EasyAzon for over three years. This nifty WordPress plugin will help you create text and image links without leaving your blog. You can also add information blocks, international links and hover pop outs. Their latest version even includes Add to Cart buttons that will set those 90-day cookies we love. How to Set Up Amazon Associate Tracking IDs If you don’t set up multiple Amazon Associate tracking IDs and are promoting with multiple sites however, it can become difficult to know what sales came from where and what marketing tactics are working. Adding Amazon Associates IDs for tracking purposes is rather painless. With a few quick clicks, you are able to analyze your marketing efforts with ease. Setting Up Additional Amazon Associate Tracking IDs Once logged in, you will see your email address and Amazon-assigned Tracking ID at the top of the screen. Click the down arrow by your email address and choose Manage Your Tracking IDs. This is where you will add more IDs for tracking purposes. On the next screen simply click Add Tracking ID and start searching for availability. You may choose to add IDs that relate to the website or marketing campaign (Ex. Facebook, Resource page, a second blog, etc.). It will always have that -20 behind it. Once you have chosen your new Tracking IDs, you can view their stats separately or as combined reports. Don’t worry. You are not creating any new accounts here. All of your earnings are still going into one place. This is strictly done for stats. When you go to create links to Amazon products going forward, you will have a drop-down box listing your tracking IDs. Choose the applicable ID, and you are good to go. If you are an active Amazon Associate with multiple sites, you likely have no problems seeing the value here. Many of our Amazon earnings come from products we didn’t promote. Sometimes they are not in any way to connected to what we promoted. Where did that lawn mower sale come from? I haven’t promoted any home & garden items. It is hard to connect the dots as to where the sale came from in those situations. This will make that connection a little easier. The Amazon Associates program is a natural fit for many bloggers and is very beginner-friendly. If you are looking to make money with affiliate marketing, I highly recommend adding it into your monetization mix. |

| body | AirdropAlert Exchanges Guides Airdrops Trending Crypto Earn BAT – How You Can Earn Tokens on Brave Browser? Did you know that every time you use your favorite browser, you’re leaving a digital footprint behind? Yes, Google’s browsers know a lot about you, probably more than you think. And it’s not just your passwords or account username at stake. Browsers know your location history, which apps you use and how often, your YouTube-watching habits, social media preferences, and so on. Then, this personal information is used to flood you with ads, which are mostly irrelevant to you. So, the question that logically pops up is: Is there an alternative to Google’s browsers? Is there a way to continue to surf the Internet, but without boring ads and with personal data protection? And even to earn tokens along the way? Yes, there is. | title | How to Earn and Use Cryptocurrency With the Brave Browser |
| body | Image for post The creators of the privacy-centric Brave browser have created a cryptocurrency called Basic Attention Token, or BAT, which you can earn by viewing ads and pay to sites you like. We show you how to start racking up BAT and how you can spend it. By Michael Muchmore Brave is a privacy-focused browser that aims to prevent its users from being tracked online. That largely means preventing advertisers from tracking you, which disrupts the main way many websites make money. Brave’s makers aren’t just interested in the privacy side of the equation, however. One of their goals is to fundamentally change the way websites make money, using the BAT (Basic Attention Token) cryptocurrency, based on the Ethereum blockchain. News and information sites like this one-and their readers-particularly stand to benefit from the concept. Will it catch on? It’s hard to say, but shifting the power (and some of the money involved) into the hands of users is an attractive idea. What Is Brave? Brave, just like Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi, is based on Google’s open-source Chromium browser code, so it’s compatible, fast, and familiar. It sports some unique features, too: Ad blocking and web tracking protection are built in, its private browsing mode can hide your traffic using Tor, it includes a built-in BitTorrent utility, and it offers a cryptocurrency wallet. The BAT system will only take off if lots of sites take advantage of what it offers: ad-free content support and letting the users earn by giving their attention to a site’s advertisements. Brave claims that over 500,000 content creators and publishers participate in the program. The company also makes a compelling case that most of the ad money on the web is going to Google and Facebook these days, rather than to the actual content publishers. How Do I Earn Cryptocurrency Using Brave? The premise is simple: If you endure viewing Brave Ads (which are push notifications, rather than on-page display ads), you can earn a fractional smidge of BAT. Conversely, if you want to get past a site’s paywall and view it ad-free, you contribute a bit of BAT to the site. After using the browser for a couple hours, I found I had earned 7 cents, so while it’s not something to quit your day job for, extrapolating that to several hours per day could help stuff your digital piggybank. In any case, the intention of the cryptocurrency is to fund information sites, rather than to earn you a living. Find out how to set all this up below. Brave Buzz Brave has been in the tech news of late for both good and bad reasons. First, the good: comedian, podcaster, and TV personality Joe Rogan gave the browser a boost, saying he prefers it along with the DuckDuckGo search engine compared with Google’s offerings. “They’re not looking in your underwear. They’re not checking under your fingernails,” said Rogan. On the downside, a Twitter user found that if you type certain cryptocurrency site addresses in, the URL was changed to one that provided Brave with an affiliate link. Though this doesn’t differ greatly from what Chrome and other browsers do, Brave CEO Brendan Eich stated “The autocomplete default was inspired by search query clientid attribution that all browsers do, but unlike keyword queries, a typed-in URL should go to the domain named, without any additions. Sorry for this mistake-we are clearly not perfect, but we correct course quickly.” This seems like an issue that, while providing one Twitter user with a “gotcha” moment, isn’t significant for most users, and it doesn’t impact privacy-or your ability to earn BAT cryptocurrency and fix the ad mess on webpages. Download and Install the Brave Browser Image for post You get it from Brave.com. Installers are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux (Debian 9+, Ubuntu 14.04+ and Mint 17+ distros). It’s a tiny download that in turn downloads and installs the browser software, similar to the way other Chromium browsers do. On the disk, the browser takes up 495MB on installation; not exactly lithe, but Chrome does the same. Get Acquainted with Brave Image for post There’s a welcome slideshow that takes you through importing bookmarks, ad blocking, setting search engine (DuckDuckGo is recommended, as a privacy-protecting option), and Brave Rewards. That last one will be our focus, as that’s where the Basic Attention Token crypto usage comes in. Enable Rewards Image for post Enabling rewards is accomplished with a simple click of a button. You’re then ready to earn, buy, or spend BAT crypto. You have two basic options to enable or disable: Ads and Auto-Contribute. If you turn on the Ads switch, you will earn BAT by viewing ads on participating sites. If you turn on Auto-Contribute, participating sites you visit will receive BAT you’ve earned or bought. Browse and Earn! Image for post Notice the panel on the right of this browser home screen that says, “You’re getting paid to view this background image.” That’s because it’s a sponsored image, in this case from BlockFi.com. You’ll see your BAT balance on your home page under Brave Rewards. Note that the ads that earn you BAT are not the standard webpage ads; you can still block those with Brave’s ad blocker. They also don’t track you the way the standard ads do and are less invasive. Contribute to Sites Image for post The red triangle at top right is key to the BAT rewards system: Note the blue check mark here; that means the site accepts BAT. After clicking that, you see the dropdown panel shown above. There you can add the site to your contributions, or remove it. Tipping Is Allowed Image for post Not only can you contribute to sites you view, but you can also tip individuals on Twitter, Reddit, and Github. This also requires verifying an Uphold account. Note the red triangle displays the blue check mark here, too. Verify Your Wallet (Optional) Image for post You can earn and contribute with BAT without signing up for anything. But if you want to cash in your BAT or contribute to your account with funds from other sources, you need to verify your wallet through Uphold, a highly rated digital currency broker. Uphold even offers a debit MasterCard that you can back with crypto. As with most things online, you start by entering an email and password. Uphold also needs your country and state, in order to comply with local laws. Unfortunately, it’s not licensed to trade crypto in New York, though it’s in the process of getting approved. To complete the account creation, you need to enter your real name, birth date, and phone number. You also need to snap a photo of your ID and of your face; this sounds intrusive, but it’s standard for crypto brokers, and you’re not under any compulsion to even create an account. Get Rewards from the TAP Network Image for post Gift cards for Amazon, Walmart, Uber, and many more can be yours if you purchase them using your BAT balance in Brave. This also requires setting up a TAP account and connecting it with your verified Uphold account. Set Up a Crypto Wallet Image for post Slightly confusingly, this crypto wallet is completely separate from the BAT Rewards program. It simply lets you store crypto in the browser or connect hardware wallets from Ledger and Trezor. To create a wallet, you just need an email address and password. You’ll be shown a secret phrase of many words, which you need to secure, say in a LastPass secure note. I only saw BAT and Ethereum in the wallet. I was able to deposit $5 worth of Ethereum into the wallet (0.0243ETH at the time) using the QR code on my Brave wallet. Unfortunately, I couldn’t convert this into BAT, but I could use it on the web. Back Up Your Wallet Image for post Since rewards are tied to the installation of Brave on your device, you can obtain a recovery key for when you switch devices. Note that this backup is for your Brave Rewards wallet, not your separate crypto wallet we just discussed. Cashing in Your Rewards Image for post As mentioned earlier, the BAT cryptocurrency is intended to support websites you enjoy, rather than to make you rich. But you can exchange the BAT you earn for good-old US greenbacks using Uphold (assuming you live in a state where that crypto broker is authorized). It’s a simple matter of clicking the Withdraw Funds icon in the right panel of the Brave Rewards page of Settings. After that, you can convert the BAT to another cryptocurrency, to US dollars, Argentine Pesos, or any of over two dozen other currencies, and have it transferred to your bank account. |
