| body | Many of life's defining moments stop us dead in our tracks, forcing us to look ourselves square in the face. One such moment altered the life of a dear friend of mine, Kara Kenyon. She has granted me the privilege to share her story with you today. In a moment we wont soon forget, a sweet, innocent, and beautiful young soul received a life altering diagnosed as the doctor uttered the dreaded words: "You have Lymphoma". Kara found herself shocked and bewildered. At the young age of only 21 with no family history of cancer. I remember the moment I received the news. I was blindsided. What was the meaning of this? Why her? There must be a silver lining. I just know she is going to be OK. No matter how scary her lymphoma diagnosis was at the time. I immediately went into a frenzy, researching anything and everything, that could point me to the underlying cause for the manifestation of this disease. I recall sending her an article I had found on the topic. It referenced that a deep seeded resentment and suppressed rage at the family system, specifically targeting the parents, may be responsible for the cancer manifesting in her physical being. Although she didn't fully understand, she felt an intense resonance with the words she read. The truth was yet to be revealed. Right after completing treatment - July 2013 Lets us now dive in to the day we reconnected. It was 8 months after her original diagnosis and her final chemo treatment. We decided to take her through a journey of self discovery with a guided meditation session. I've always felt a deeper knowing that all of our memories are stored in our subconscious and effect us in our present day to day lives. Kara's revelation that day, was proof of this truth. I took the journey into the dark abyss with her, breaking down in tears as I heard her do the same. Tears triggered by her earliest memory as a preemie in an incubator away from her parents. There was more to work through however, so we forged on. Her next memory took us to the day she almost drown in her family pool. Where were her parents she asked? She cried out feeling neglected and abandoned. Realizing that her family had kept this truth from her, as she had no memory of the occurrence, deeply pained her. She had spent the majority of her life blaming herself as feelings of unworthiness came up. Little did she know her feelings stemmed from the neglect she experienced that day. After the session, we both took a deep breathe and let out a huge sigh of relief. We realized that as the underlying cause was brought to light, true healing could now begin. In that moment a new journey of self discovery, acceptance, love and forgiveness began. Dear Kara, let fast forwarding now, to the first day of the rest of your life. I asked you first to remind me of the day you received your diagnosis... yet you couldn't remember. I then asked you to recall the day you were told that you were in remission. You rattled of the answer without hesitation. March 28th, 2013... this date marks the first day of the rest of your life. Your words resonated with me that day. "I know that I've concurred this. I feel healthy and free of the dis-ease (within the spirit) that created this disease in me (the physical manifestation)" It was then that we came to the realization, that Cancer had saved your life. Had it not been for your Cancer, you would not be the woman you are today. Closer to your authentic self, with an amazing and miraculous message to share with the world. What is it that you family called you? Miracle Baby? I must agree wholeheartedly... you are a walking miracle Kara, and Cancer did indeed save your life. This experience brought us closer together in a most Divinely orchestrated way, resulting in massive growth. I look at the beautiful, confident, and grounded woman that stands before me today. She is a stark contrast to the lost, confused, and deeply wounded young lady I once knew. You were brought into my life with purpose, on purpose Kara. I am deeply grateful to have had the privilege to bear witness to your self realizations over the years and look forward to many more still to come. I love you from the bottom of my heart. - Zhanna #healing #childhoodtrauma #abandonment #adolescence #cancer #findingtheself #truepurpose #authenticself |

| body | The Riley Youmans Story - @iamdaximus Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated with music. Striking a cord with me early on in life, I found myself often turned to music as my escape from a non so favorable reality. "Music has a way of soothing us in times of emotional upheaval, inspiring us to heal and offering relief when we need it most." - Me To this day, seldom does a day go by that I go without listening to music that moves me. Over the years my taste has fluctuated, ranging from old school oldies to the soothing sounds of tropical house music. If I had to choose a musical preference at this time in my life, I'd most definitely lean in the direction of tropical house with a secondary preference of the Al Green era in time. I am huge on creating a space of serenity, peace and joy within myself as well as in the space that surrounds me. This brings me to the inspiration for today's post. Excuse me as a stray off topic for a moment. I promise that I will bring us full circle. I've learned that there are moments sprinkled throughout our lives which are meant to awaken and inspire us. Moments of soul recognition that ignite a passion within us that move us to our core. That little all-knowing voice within us speaking to us through our outer experiences. Have you ever met someone and felt an instant "knowing" about the being that stands before you? Yet, you know all to well that you have never met them before. Id like to share a story about the moment I met a talented young man by the name of Riley Youmans. He had an aura about him. It was very evident that this was a deep and special soul, radiating warmth, humility and a spark of Divine light. Within moments of meeting this young man, he looks at me and mid conversation says.. "I feel like I know you? Where do I know you from?" I smiled because I knew that our paths hadn't crossed before, but recognized a moment of Divine inspiration that required my heightened awareness. Little did I know at this time that this young man happened to be a talented producer of music and well known local DJ by the name of Daximus (I told you I'd bring us back to where we started today). You may be wondering what makes this "DJ" so special / different from the rest? In my opinion, based on an inner knowing and awareness, it became rather evident to me that this young man has "IT". I came to this realization within minutes of meeting him and listening to him speak on his passion for music. "I grew up playing piano and drums as a kid, I always had some rhythm going on in my head. I was the kid banging on tables and pans and stuff, always trying to make a beat out of anything I could [find]" - Riley Youmans / Daximus Inspired by hip hop and rap in his youth, Riley was introduced to electronic music in high school and hasn't looked back since. "I still remember getting chills when I heard the bass through his headphones" - recalling the moment a high school buddy played a song for him from Excision. This was the defining moment in his life that took him down his current path. When I asked him what his goal is in his pursuit of his dreams. As a youth in a perfect position to inspire highly impressionable future generations, using his music as a driving force, Riley emphasizes the importance of feeling the music and creating an experience for his listeners. His words hit home with me when he spoke of getting "high" on the music. I too have always been drawn to music because of the feelings it elicits rather than the recreational environment surrounding the industry. He speaks of identifying a hobby that you enjoy more than anything and do it for you. Don't allow the opinions of others to sway your conviction. Maintain your focus on your goals with the intent of creating a positive impact on your followers/listeners, all the while ensuring that you achieve massive results in the process. The destination is key. Get clear on that vision and strive every moment, every day to achieve success. You are a guiding light Riley! Keep it up! I look forward to seeing what he has in store for us in the up coming future. Check out some of his current releases: https://soundcloud.com/iamdaximus One of my personal favorite tracks of his: https://soundcloud.com/iamdaximus/insertsongtitlehere Thank you for the inspiration @iamdaximus (follow him on Instagram for updates)... onward and upward! I had to re-read it, and enjoyed it. When you have the time to proofread this, I'm sure it will be a marvelous work that many will come to enjoy. Keep up the great work! Cheers! <3 |

| body | Many of life's defining moments stop us dead in our tracks, forcing us to look ourselves square in the face. Kara found herself shocked and bewildered, at the ripe age of only 21, with no family history of cancer. I remember the moment that my phone went off with a message of the news. I was blindsided. What was the meaning of this? Why her? There must be a silver lining. I just know she is going to be OK no matter how scary her lymphoma diagnosis was at the time. I immediately went into a frenzy, researching everything under the sun that could point me to the underlying cause for the manifestation of this disease in her life. I recall sending her an article I had found, which dug deep into the topic, referencing deep seeded resentment and suppressed rage at the family system, specifically targeting the parents. She was dumbfounded at the time, as she felt an intense resonance in the words she read yet was not able to pinpoint the events that caused her deep trauma. Neither of us knew it then, but the truth was to be revealed to her at a later time. A point in time I will expand upon shortly. I would like to note that her diagnosis not only altered the direction of her life, but my own as well. I experienced a profound shift in my being. Looking back. I can see the sequence of events playing themselves out perfectly now, as they brought me to this present moment in time. It brought us closer together. in a most Divinely orchestrated way, resulting in massive growth. I look at the beautiful, confident, and grounded woman that stands before me today. She is a stark contrast to the lost, confused, and deeply wounded young lady I once knew. You were brought into my life with purpose, on purpose Kara. You right after completing treatment - July 2013 Lets us now dive in to the day we reconnected, 8 months later, your treatment complete, as we sat through a deep guided meditation session. I took the journey into the dark abyss with you that day. Feeling all the anguish and pain you felt, breaking down in tears as I heard you do the same. Triggered by a memory berried so deep that it took 23 years to uncover. You were only a small child then. Helpless and dependent on others for your well being. The moment the memory of you as a baby, born pre-mature and kept in an incubator away from your parents, came up to your conscious awareness. I've always felt a deeper knowing that all of our memories are stored in our subconscious and effect us in our present day to day lives. This revelation was proof of this truth through your experience. Then came your next revelation. The day that you almost drown in your family pool. The same parents that gave you life, somehow had neglected to ensure your safety and security as you stumbled and fell into the pool that day. Where were they you asked? Why were you left unattended? Feeling abandoned, fearful and alone in those moments. You cried from a place so deep as the suppressed memories flooded back into your awareness. The pain in those moments only grazing the anguish you had endured over the years. Blaming yourself for your feelings of unworthiness as you realized that this truth has been kept from you by those whom you love most your entire life. How could they have not told you? Did they not love you? I can only imagine the questions that flooded your mind. This was a bittersweet moment however, as in this realization, the deep seeded truth of your resentment and inner rage towards your parent was revealed. I remember that moment, as we both took a huge sigh of relief, realizing that as the underlying cause was brought to light, true healing could now begin. In that moment a new journey of self discovery, acceptance, love and forgiveness began. Fast forwarding now, to the first day of the rest of your life. I asked you first to remind me of the day you received your diagnosis... yet you couldn't remember. My follow up question then, was in reference the day you found out that you were in remission, with no trace of cancer in sight. You rattled of the answer without hesitation. March 28th, 2013... this date marking the first day of the rest of your life. Your words held such truth as you spoke "I know that I've concurred this. I am healthy now and free of the dis-ease (within the spirit) that created this disease in me (the physical manifestation)". In that moment we both knew that Cancer had indeed saved your life. Had it not been for your Cancer, you would not be the woman you are today. Closer to your authentic self, with an amazing and miraculous message to share with the world. What is it that you family called you? Miracle Baby? I must agree whole heatedly... you are a walking miracle Kara, and Cancer did indeed save your life. I am deeply grateful to have had the privilege to bear witness to your self realization over the years and look forward to many more still to come. Thank you for the gift that is you. #healing #childhoodtrauma #abandonment #adolescence #cancer #findingtheself #truepurpose #authenticself |

| body | Today's topic of discussion is one I've spent many a moment racking my brain over. I felt an initial spark of inspiration when I came upon a YouTube video titled "The Interview that Broke the internet" featuring Simon Sinek (full video link referenced at the end of this post). Please take a moment to view the abridged clip before reading on: What is the Millennial Question? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qKefwXkNoAs?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now lets take a step back and reflect on the truth we have just heard as it relates to our experience either as or with a millennial. Do you agree in the aforementioned? Are the individuals identified as the millennial generation hard to manage, entitled, narcissistic, self-centered, unfocused, lazy? How is it that they confound leadership? Viewing challenges as opportunities for growth, why not change our leadership approach? In my personal experience, spanning over a decade in management, I found that although this generation can be "tough" to manage, they can also be the most receptive and rewarding to inspire. The key word here being inspire. Inspire: fill (someone) with the urge or ability to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. (Google Dictionary). There is a lack of good leadership in a society quick to pass the buck. Rather than placing blame upon this generation, for all of the perceived deficiencies society has projected upon them, I ask that we instead take a look at ourselves and reflect on the Millennial Question. Viewing challenges as opportunities for growth, why not change our leadership approach? If we are not part of th solution, aren't we part the problem? Id like to share a few wise words, from a millennial, that I found both inspiring and contrary to the characteristic traits used to define them. "I have this motto, wake up each morning, go out and accomplish something. Learn something, get closer to your goal... or prepare for a defining moment in your life. The worst thing in the world is waking up with no purpose. [With] nowhere to be, nothing to accomplish." - anonymous millennial As I read these words, thoughts of laziness, entitlement, and lack of focus are the last to enter my mind. Yet, these are the words used to describe a generation filled with highly talented and purpose driven individuals that need forward thinking leadership. This generation was ever so perfectly crafted to challenge us in ways that we need for our growth as leaders and for the betterment of our society as a whole. I always look for the deeper meaning in things.. the profound approach to living. This is my version of the Truth that resides in my heart as Divine Inspiration. I've had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented, caring, driven, and inspiring individuals (thank you to all those that are reading this post), who all happen to be Millennials. I am grateful to each and every one of them for fostering my growth as a leader and as a person. I view them as so much more than just another statistic and see the impact that each and every one is meant to make in this world based on his/her true purpose. Where others may overlook talent and fail to see the black diamonds that are walking among us in this amazing generation, I choose to dig deeper and invest in the polishing of the gems within each and every one of them. I`d like to digress here for a brief moment and then bring you back at my closing. In a recent training class with a most talented instructor and coach, Megan Bhatia (http://meganbhatia.com/), I was given the privilege to see myself through someone else eyes. After a intense post-training pow pow with my peers, she used the word Catalyst to describe me. Catalyst: a person or thing that precipitates an event. I found her use of the word very intriguing and am honored to be prceived as so. It is my goal, my purpose in life rather, to inspire change for the better in all of my interactions. So it is with pride that I accept her understanding of my intent. I hope that I have been and may continue to be the Catalyst for positive change in the lives of those whom I encounter along my path. The reason I felt the need to touch on this thought provoking moment, is that it reminds me of the importance that perception plays in our every days lives. There may not always be clarity and truth in all of our perceptions. When a perception resonates with the truth that resides within an individual however, there is no greater recognition. This brings me to the Millennial Question and the need to reevaluate our perception and understanding of the generation that holds the power of transforming our future as a society in its hands. What roll are we playing in creating this future with/through them? - Zhanna Romm The Interview that Broke the Internet (Full Video) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2SPfF0JbFb8?rel=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

[With] nowhere to be, nothing to accomplish.\" - anonymous\n\nAs I read these words, thoughts of laziness, entitlement, and lack of focus are the last to enter my mind. This is my version of the Truth that resides in my heart as Divine Inspiration.\n\nI've had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented, caring, driven, and inspiring individuals (thank you to all those that are reading this post), who all happen to be Millennials. I am grateful to each and every one of them for fostering my growth as a leader and as a person. I view them as so much more than just another statistic and see the impact that each and every one is meant to make in this world based on his/her true purpose. Where others may overlook talent and fail to see the black diamonds that are walking among us in this amazing generation, I choose to dig deeper and invest in the polishing of the gems within each and every one of them.\n\nI`d like to digress here for a brief moment and then bring you back at my closing. \n\nThe reason I felt the need to touch on this thought provoking moment, is that it reminds me of the importance that perception plays in our every days lives. \n\n- Zhanna Romm\n\nThe Interview that Broke the Internet (Full Video)\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/2SPfF0JbFb8?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen></iframe>",
