| body | For a long time in my life I had no real understanding of anxiety. I had even less of an understanding of how it affected me so intensely until recently. Constantly moving, unable to chill, always needing a distraction, checking a phone incessantly and never ever gently relaxing into a moment of anxiety. That's my life in a nutshell. It hasn't always been like this exactly, but it's gotten worse as I look for a new career. For many years I have been in tourism and I've loved it. It does have a lot of downsides, like average pay and a lack of stability, but I've been outside a lot and met a lot of very interesting people. Now as I shift back to something else and friends get older, buy houses, have kids, etc I feel as if I've perhaps left an opportunity behind. The truth is I have. I remember, however, after university not knowing where to go or to put my energy. I felt lost, isolated, alone and completely cut off from the world. Right now my feeling is somewhat similar, except that I have some great friends, have a bunch of interests I want to pursue and have career experience. When I was 22 I had no experience, no hope and no idea. Now I have all of them and we shall see what the world brings. |

| body | Today I had an experience that proved this to be so true. My friend locked herself out of her flat. I have her spare key. I was at my co-working space and bicycled home to meet her. It was inconvenient for me, it was inconvenient for her, but altogether we shared an altruistic moment that will resonate with me for the rest of the day. I don't think now that I am particularly special or noteworthy, it's more that I did something which inconvenienced me (although not crazily) out of empathy. I know that at some point I might need someone else's help getting into my flat and so I helped her. Or was that really the reason? I'm not sure. I like her as a person and so wanted to help, so there is also the direct connection, i.e. if I help her, she will help me. But I also just like helping her, even if there was never anything else to come in return in the future. Well I suppose this is what makes society function, right? Hope you all have a nice day! |

| body | Recently I've been thinking a lot about work. Work not just in the 9-5 sense, but in the general sense of doing something with your time on this planet. Now I realise that I am not the first person to ponder this (hell, I suppose this is the basis of philosophy in general), but it's something that I think we should ponder more. Over the last several years as a tour guide one truth has become so overwhelmingly clear to me: we are the products of our environment and individual thought is limited. This means that our perspective on work, what work is, how much we should do and how society should be structured are underpinned by where we grew up. The best example I can give of this is the way East and West Germany are viewed by the vistors of different countries coming to Germany & Berlin. NB: What I am about to talk about are anecdotal stereotypes and should by no means be taken as a definitive study or list. I have met thousands of visitors, but that is a small sample size considering many millions visit Berlin & Germany yearly and only those with certain means / interests visit here. The classic is that East Germany was evil (largely English-speaking countries perspectives) and that West Germany was the good guy. This broadly fits in the capitalism = good, communism = bad viewpoint and sure, there were a lot of really terrible things about the communist / socialist / dictatorship systems of Central / Eastern Europe, but there were also some good things. Healthcare, Education, Women's freedoms, just to name a few were IMO better than in the West. Work, however, is a more complicated topic. (c.f. This German article) While there was a lot of control and enforcement of 9-5ish style work system by the East German government, there were also some more flexible elements to their system: 1. Mothers could leave earlier. 2. There were kindergartens / day care at most workplaces for mothers. 3. Overtime wasn't a standard (8 3/4 hours was normal). 4. Workplaces were run by all the employees (at least theoretically). 5. Profit was meant to be shared (even if there wasn't much to be shared, this is a nice idea). Work also wasn't limited to what you did to survive / raise a family, it also included the way that you worked for the state and contributed to society as a whole. Now, I know that I am getting into rather problematic territory here (propaganda, brainwashing, etc), so I'm not going to write more about that, but what I hope I am expressing is the one-sided nature of today's attitude towards work is problematic. And more specifically our attitude towards what has value as work. Is a mother's work intrinsically less valuable than that of a senior banker simply because of a dollar value attached? I don't know the answer here, but I certainly think we should spend more considering what work actually is, what it means to us, how we should work, in what way we should interact with each other at work and how we can make the distribution of the rewards of work more equitable. So through all of this I will keep writing, keep working ;) and we shall see what comes in the future, but I hope that we all reflect on work more constructively. Wishing you a great day! Take care :) William |

| body | Today has been a struggle for me. Mentally I haven't been the most positive and my body has had some weird pains go through it, but nonetheless I soldiered on and continued working on my side hustle (FYI I will never name it more than this) and also met a number of lovely people during the day (Angus, Sean, Phil, etc). What I think, however, it is that is really holding me down is my constant search for a meaning / purpose to my existence. and yes I know how stereotypical / cliche that is, but I think that is the core of it. I think the searching is frustrating, because I fear making the wrong decision, even though I know that all decisions are "wrong" in some way. Although they are all "right" in some way as well... Just a classic mind-fuck. I do not have any thing that is motivating me in a direct way and I am not sure what that intrinsic motivation should be. Money is nice to have, but only in a system where it is needed. At the moment I am working to make more money in a diversified way, but undoubtedly as soon as I have achieved my goals then it will become relatively uninteresting to me insofar as money is a goal in itself. So I need something else. Helping others is always a good one. Being present for those most close to me in my life is also another good one, such as my girlfriend, my flatmate, my friends, my mother, my father, my sister and others. Hosting others where I can, either friends or through Couchsurfing, etc. What other things can you guys think of? Now isn't it funny that as I get to the end of this little blog post, that suddenly I am feeling more relaxed and better? Part of my intrinsic worth to the world is sharing, as everytime I post a blog or a video or a photo I feel like I've contributed a bit in some way. I suppose it's also a fad at the moment to feel better after posting (hell it helps Steem, facebook, instagram, etc etc), but I also like that it keeps me busy. I think that laziness is the core reason for a lot of these stressful feelings I have and thank you for reading to the end. I hope you also see the joy in doing. |

| body | Goddammit was this a process. So let's go through it. So I signed up to the Cashaa ICO in November and had no idea what to expect. I heard about Cashaa on reddit, did a bit of research (quick background search on the team) and decided to invest a small amount, but largely with the hope that I would learn a little bit about how ICOs occur. This has certainly been the case, but as it is with learning, it's not been fun. I then waited until registrations were shut and the coins would be distributed in January. At this point I was receiving regular emails, but they were mostly spam-like, with very little informative or instructional stuff. This would later turn out to be a problem as I was unaware of the cutoff for KYC (Know-Your-Customer) registration. I missed the date by one day on the 8th of January and after trying to register on their site was told to raise a ticket, which is what I did. I then waited. And waited. And waited some more... Until I had had enough. So I checked in to the telegram group, found an admin and directly messaged them. They told me it was too late. I was told to raise a ticket for a refund, which is what I did and then guess what I did? I waited. Nothing. So I messaged again and was told to speak to a different admin on telegram, which I then proceeded to do. This person then told me that I could still register and I was like WHAT? They had extended the KYC registration period without telling anyone, brilliant... So I decided to take the tokens and login. The test payment was completed on the 22.2.2018 and I just checked the transaction today, the 2.3.2018 and it worked! So despite my awkward interaction with customer support, the login worked and it appears that their token allocation system functions. This doesn't mean that I can recommend Cashaa, it is simply my step-by-step experience of interacting with their ICO. Overall, I think they did a 5/10 job, so very average. Saying that, however, the biggest learning from this would be that they didn't have enough customer support stuff (no one ever replied to my ticket) and their email communication was unclear. On the positive side, however, I would say that they were able to deliver a working product in terms of token allocation, but the jury is still out on their idea. I hope it goes well, but now we all have to wait. |

| author | williammollers |
| body | So in a previous post I stated that Steemit's rewards system was one of the reasons that I joined, but I also joined to **practice writing** more regularly. I'm only a few days in and I haven't got my regular groove going yet, but I think that the more I continue, the more I will see a path. *Finding a path*, however, has always been something that I struggled with. I've done a lot of different kinds of jobs already at my age (30) and so far have found some success as a tour guide, but financially this hasn't been very lucrative. I love the work, but I have realised recently that I need to branch out otherwise I will not be able to set myself up for a nice life later on. But what to do? For years I joked that I would get into finance / investing / something to do with money-ish, but I have never had a concrete idea of what this could be. Partially it's because I have lacked capital to be an investor. Partially it's because I never dedicated enough time to truly develop myself in this area. This is my **callout** to develop myself in this area. I want to earn millions and I want to inspire people. Previously I would never had said stuff like this or said it in a public place like this for all to see, for now and forever, but the time is right. I'm scared shitless of where I am going next, but I won't get anywhere by sitting around and twiddling my thumbs. Everyday I read. Everyday I will workout. Everyday I will turn up. Everyday I will write. This isn't easy, nor something that I will get right the first time, nor the second, nor the third. But I will get the balance right for me, however long it takes. And to help me get there I need as much feedback as possible. So please do **comment** and give me criticism, give me compliments, help me write stuff that is interesting. You won't regret it :). |
