The holocaust took over 6 million Jewish lives with some 17 million in total. \n\nThe most famous of these death camps were the Auschwitz I, Auschwitz II (Birkenau) and Auschwitz III (Monowitz). \n\nThe trip there is one of deep reflection as you ponder on the  capacity for humanity to commit such evil. It is heavy and solemn. Some cities that were too quiet, I spent less time, the cities where I could meet people I tend to stay longer.       "body": "That must be exhausting to be on the road for 5 months, I can imagine that you have so much impressions form different cultures and people and airport/pass control stresses. I would not do that only because if I am in a new place, I would like to learn more about that place and stay there for few weeks and learn more, relax and enjoy the time. \nIt seems you have a good experience in planning and you already have everything calculated and have like we causally say Agenda. It is nice to see that you stayed within your budget. I can imagine how it might be difficult to want to taste the exotic dishes but not knowing if you like it. When I am in such situation, my best choice is Pizza, of course some of them have different toppings but then I prefer Pizza Margherita. Beautiful pictures very artistically done.",

So cheaper than that but not in Sydney since I live back at home now.\n\nI definitely made the most of it but there's always more to learn, always new perspectives and everyone's story is different.       "body": "@oliviackl This was the one opportunity I saw myself having freedom of time and budget to travel. There were other complications like being solo meant costs were higher to do certain things, eg. no sharing costs of taxis or rentals. I am unsure when I'll have something like this again ever, but I'll definitely go on short trips here and there in the future!\n\nI planned the duration roughly and I had a few countries I wanted to visit in mind, and general course. The rest I just decided whilst I went. \n\nFor eg, I knew I wanted to go to Russia, then so happened the World Cup was happening, then some friends contacted me to meet in London, so I had to plot my travel to London.\n\nI definitely did try Naxi Lemak and Ice Kacang but I only had 3 days there and could not eat everything :( \nMy friend took me to some spots for local 7 ringgit meals! Awesome!\n\nBeef brisket noodles is one of those local dishes that will remain a part of my childhood hahahhaha!",

But to calculate the total cost, I just looked at my bank statements haha.  \n\nI'd say the labelled \"local cuisines\" might not necessarily be bad, but you know they are definitely targeting tourists if they've written that down.",

Or country?\nMy favourite food comes from Japan hands down.  Thai and Malay come in close.  Also really enjoyed Russian/Polish.\n\nAnd for country, I think it's dependant on your experiences there.  Personally I enjoyed Russia a lot and Poland was fun, it helped that they are cheap countries and I enjoyed the food!",

If you look at the context and the numbers you'll know that I'm speaking to the privileged who grow up in the first world countries in this post. \n\nI know people who travel for 2 weeks and spent 10000. My point being you don't need to spent that much.  \n\nAnd... of course you'd spend less monthly if you're living locally.  You're stating the obvious. No one compared travelling to living in ones country.  I also stated my purpose isn't to travel as cheap as i can. I've met backpackers who spent 15 euros in over a week. That's cheap. \n\nThis post isn't bragging about travelling nor rubbing it in the faces of those who can't.  I've personally met people who can't.  Those are the ones who hold restricted passports from war torn countries, the single mothers who are barely supporting their own lives, the ones who are supporting their parents gambling addictions.  I personally visited my sponsor child in a part of poverty stricken Philippines.  I know. \nBut I'm speaking to the volumes of people from first world countries like me who are hating their jobs or want a break but don't realise that travelling is doable. \nSo many people say to me that they don't know how i could afford this etc etc, but for them it's most likely not a money issue but security, stability and responsibility. I get that.  I'm not ignorant. \n\nTravel is not just for fun.  It can be for learning, but only if you let it be.  \nIf you know me or read any of my posts you'll know I'm not as ignorant as you claimed. \n\nI think you missed the entire point of this post.  \n\nAlso if you do some calculations. That's roughly 65Aud a day.  That's some people's accommodation cost alone.",

If I were on that trip, I probably will go way beyond my budget, sticking with a budget isn't always the easiest things for me to do, especially when I have the money at hand. That shopping stuff might end up getting me, and I will end up stuck with huge stuff to carry. Lol!\n\n\n\nYour budget might not necessarily work for some people but I think it does help give some sort of a guide even for people that want to go a bit higher or lower. Its all about finding what works for one really. And oh you really are great for being able to keep a tab of all your spending, I wouldn't have...\n\nThe food up there looks appetizing! One of the great ways to get a taste of one's culture while traveling is definitely to get a taste of their local cuisine, thanks for pointing out the fact that some places tagged \"local cuisine\" might not really be local.
