| title | Chakras Uploaded: Why I'm Suspicious Of The Dalai Lama |
| body | The Dalai Lama: Pop Culture & New Age Religion The Dalai Lama’s positive impact on mainstream Spirituality and Collective Evolution cannot be denied. In-fact, I’m thinking I’m crazy for even writing this article, but a few lingering questions deserve answers. According to Forbes Magazine. a lot of Silicon Valley Companies are now exploring Spirituality, and the Dalai Lama is a regular figure at Silicon Valley Conferences promoting the integration of Human Consciousness and Technology. At first sight, there’s nothing particularly sinister about this relationship until you start taking into account the fact that we are at a turning point in Human Evolution, and also that eventually our concept of ‘Reality’ may forever and irreversibly be altered by immersive Virtual Reality Technologies. At this level, the relationship gains greater significance, especially if one considers the History of the Tibet-China dispute, and that while in exile, the Dalai Lama is essentially a deposed Monastic Monarch. Big Tech Alliance: Historical Roots Its common knowledge that in 1959, the Dalai Lama, a member of the Gelug or ‘Yellow Hat’ school of Buddhism fled Tibet and established a government in exile in India, marking the culmination of a long standing dispute with China regarding Chinese sovereignty over Tibet. The dispute is rooted in Britain’s Historical Imperial endeavour in the Region which led to many significant Historical events such as the Opium Wars and the annexation of Hong Kong from China. Due to the failure of the Dalai Lama’s British and American backed 1959 Gelug Unilateral Declaration Of Tibetan Independence from China, the Dalai Lama went into in exile. The Historical context of the Dalai Lama’s exile may explain his need for strong allies against China which has become a global superpower in the period following the Dalai Lama’s exile…Enter Silicon Valley. In the same way the Church’s alliance with Royalty and more recently, the now declining American Finance-Oil Empire, provided a veneer of moral legitimacy to Imperial Conquest, the Dalai Lama is lending Spiritual/Religious credibility to the Post-Human agenda by espousing a revisionist Buddhist New Age Spirituality that serves Big Tech’s ultimate objective to fully integrate Biology and Technology in order to create a new Immortal ‘Digitally Conscious’ Post-Human species. By providing a means by which Post-Humanism can be accepted in Spiritual terms, the Dalai Lama is at the forefront of the Big Tech Agenda as the Big Data Economy replaces the now obsolete and ailing Wall Street-Oil Economy…The shift in Economy is a sign that a new Empire dominated by Technology Corporates is on the horizon. The new Emperors have through the Dalai Lama’s co-opted Buddhist New Age Philosophy already devised and begun to implement their own version of a Religion which will replace today’s outmoded Religions, but will still retain the power to achieve Mass Social Control within a Technological Society…A Technological Religion For a Technological Society. Conclusion Is it by coincidence that the Dalai Lama’s chosen allies are perhaps amongst the few left in today’s Age of the declining Finance-Oil Empire powerful enough to help him or more appropriately the ‘Yellow Hats’ Monastic Order persist in the denial of China’s sovereignty over Tibet? A denial which in itself is simply evidence of Tibet’s Historical role as a Pawn on the Chessboard of a greater Imperial Conspiracy? Only time will tell…Just think twice before uploading your Chakras… |

| title | The Decline Of Empire & The Psychological Wages Of White Privilege |
| body | Whilst White Privilege does not mean that any White person who achieved anything didn’t work hard, it is nevertheless a concrete phenomenon that manifests in observable ways, and can be summarily defined and understood as: White privilege: n. The quantitative (and qualitative) advantage of whiteness These advantages can be seen in a Historically rooted access to better opportunities in Education, Employment, Income, and can also be additionally expressed in Psychological Terms. White Privilege As A Psychological Wage It obviously follows that improved access to the material benefits provided by access to better Education, Employment and Income will create individuals and communities that thrive more both materially and Psychologically. The ‘Psychological Wage of Whiteness’ (or the promise of it), has also been used to divide and conquer the lower White working class from the days of the Slave Plantation in which the White working class performed the hard manual field work of ‘Overseer’. The Land-Owning Plantation Owners were not inclined to do this field work which included such unsavoury tasks as Slave discipline. Nevertheless, it was necessary that the ‘dirty’ work be done for the success of the Plantation, and by extension the entire Economy. As Capitalism expanded into Colonialism, it was the members of the White working class that did the dirty work side-by-side with the Colonised in the Mines, Farms and other sites of exploitation as ‘Manager’ or ‘Foreman’ to ensure that the profits sought by the Colonial project were extracted from the Colonies to the ‘mother country’. It is in this role that the White working class has also been exploited, divided, and deceived as Capitalism has encouraged the White working class to, in historian David Roediger’s words, “define and accept their class position by fashioning identities as ‘not slaves’ and ‘not blacks.’” According to W.E.B. DuBois, anti-black racism grants lower and working-class whites a “public and psychological wage” – a false and dysfunctional measure of status used to compensate for alienating and exploitative class relationships. As Martin Luther King Jr. observed in 1968, racialized capitalism has given its White Proletarian prey the “satisfaction of…thinking you are somebody big because you are white.” Conclusion Our own era has witnessed the aging throes of Global Capitalism with the accelerated death of the Middle-Class in order to ensure that wealth transfer to the very top continues, thereby finally exposing the satisfaction provided by the ‘Psychological Wage’ of White Privilege as a lie to Whites themselves…Its now clear that no Race is immune to the Machiavellian machinations of the Elite class. The White workers’ subordinate and expendable status is now exposed as equal to that of Blacks, and thus making it clear that we are and have always been divided in what is essentially a Class War. Just prior to his death, Martin Luther King Jnr pursued this insight and saw the need for Racial unity as a means of subverting division by the Capitalist Class. Dr King decided to support a Worker’s strike in Memphis Tenessee in order to mark the launch of this new united ‘Class Struggle’ beyond Civil Rights. Somebody wasnt willing to allow him to live long enough to embark on what would essentially have been an assault on firstly, American Capitalism and eventually Global Capitalism. The struggle continues… |

| title | Afrofuturism: Black Utopia & The Cyberpunk Connection |
| body | Afrofuturism is on the Radar once again, and this time we explore its relationship to Cyberpunk, a related Science Fiction genre. Cyberpunk Cyberpunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that features advanced science and technology in an urban, dystopian future. On one side you have powerful mega-corporations and private security forces, and on the other you have the dark and gritty underworld of illegal trade, gangs, drugs, and vice. It emerged in the 80s and is considered to have been crystallised following the popularity of William Gibson’s Sci-Fi redefining Novel, ‘Neuromancer’, the precursor and inspiration for the ‘Matrix’ Trilogy. Briefly, its about the Central Character’s outlaw Hacker experiences in a ‘Collective Virtual Reality Hallucination’ called the Matrix which is accessed by plugging the Brain into Cyberspace…The story is set in a Dystopian High Technology Earth Civilization controlled by big Corporations. What also makes ‘Neuromancer’ unique is that at the time it was written the Internet was a far cry from where it is now, but that didnt stop Gibson from coining the term ‘Cyberspace’ even though he didnt own a Computer at the time he wrote his groundbreaking Novel which subsequently won numerous awards and has since acquired Cult status. Afrofuturism Afrofuturism is the re-imagining of a future filled with arts, science and technology seen through a black lens. The term was conceived a quarter-century ago by white author Mark Dery in his essay “Black to the Future,” which looks at speculative fiction within the African diaspora. The essay rests on a series of interviews with Black content creators. Dery laid out the questions driving the philosophy of Afrofuturism: Can a community whose past has been deliberately rubbed out, and whose energies have subsequently been consumed by the search for legible traces of its history, imagine possible futures? Furthermore, isn’t the unreal estate of the future already owned by the technocrats, futurologists, streamliners, and set designers ― white to a man ― who have engineered our collective fantasies? As stated in our last Afrofuturism entry, what makes Afrofuturism significantly different from standard science fiction is that it’s steeped in ancient African traditions and Black identity. However, a narrative that simply features a Black character in a futuristic world is not enough. To be Afrofuturism, it must be rooted in and unapologetically celebrate the uniqueness and innovation of Black culture. However, an Afrofuturist narrative does not have to occur within a fictional Dystopian setting…This is perhaps because Afrofuturism is aspirational in character as a means for Black Creators to exit the limiting real world Dystopia they experience everyday. From this perspective, Afrofuturism can be seen as an exercise in constructing Black Utopia. Nevertheless, the aspirational quality of Afrofuturism does not in itself limit the use of fictional Dystopian settings in Afrofuturist narratives where this is appropriate for the story being told. In the case of Cyberpunk however, Fictional Dystopia appears to be an intrinsic element, and it is in this respect I would say Cyberpunk differs from Afrofuturism which is not necessarily limited to portraying Dystopia except where it fits the story. | title | THE AFRICAN SPIRITUAL WORLDVIEW |
| body | THE AFRICAN SPIRITUAL WORLDVIEW The degrading of African spiritual beliefs has often taken the form of defining traditional religion as more of superstition than actual spirituality, more primitive than contemporary, and more wicked than inherently good. This flawed yet widely-accepted approach to traditional spirituality has led to the adoption of a belief that indigenous religions are shallow, backward, and lacking in substance and value. This cannot be further from the truth. In reality African spirituality is rich, complex, meaningful and well-suited to the African environment and way of life. It not only complements but also empowers and enriches the African socio-cultural system when applied appropriately and respectfully. With this assertion as the basis there is need to outline and discuss some of the central themes that define and characterise the African spiritual worldview, with the Zimbabwean context as reference. Role of The Ancestors A defining hallmark of African spirituality is ancestor or spirit veneration, the belief that ancestors play a significant and powerful role in the lives of their descendants. This role primarily involves guiding, overlooking and intervening in the affairs of their offspring, as well as assisting and disciplining them. Ancestors, known as vadzimu in Zimbabwe’s Shona language, are sacred in African cosmology and are viewed with the highest reverence. Laurenti Magesa describes the connection between ancestral spirits and their descendants saying, “Ancestorship is an act of communion in remembrance that is also actualization or resurrection. It constitutes making present among us here and now those who are remembered. Ancestors and their descendants...are in continuity.” The belief in ancestors is grounded in the relational nature of African society which holds that one’s existence only matters in relation to others, especially one’s kin and relatives. African culture is family-focused and ancestor veneration is only an extension of that focus into the spiritual realm, in the continued responsibility of the departed to the relations they left behind. The veneration of ancestors is also symbolic of how the world of the living and the spirit world coexist side-by-side in African culture. There is no clear separation or demarcation between the two worlds, but rather a natural overlapping into each other. The dead exist alongside and sometimes within the living, in the case of spirit mediums or masvikiro. It seems the laws of time and space do not apply in African spirituality, they are transcended and overcome. This is only a sign of how integral and necessary ancestors are in the African worldview. The African Concept Of The After Life Linked to the belief in ancestors is a strong and deeply-rooted belief in an afterlife. Africans do not believe in the finality of death, but rather see it as a graduation to a higher level of existence. African people’s regular interaction with the spirit world via their ancestors and similar spirits creates an awareness of death as a non-permanent phenomenon, which allows them to approach it with wisdom and understanding. There is an intrinsic belief in the continuity of life beyond the physical realm, eternity is a practical reality not a matter of hope or faith as in other religious traditions. As Clapperton Mavhunga says concerning the Shona people, “Death was the process not of final expiry but merely an elevation into an ancestral spirit. Dying was sleeping, it was a stage in the process of being called to spiritland.” To show how strongly they believe in the continuation of life after death the Shona carry out a ritual called kurova guva, which is awakening the soul of the sleeping dead after a period of time and returning him/her back into the homestead or village to look after the family. Therefore in indigenous spirituality death is simply a stage in the journey of existence, not the end of the road. Connection To Nature Traditional African spirituality is also greatly in tune with nature and the elements, it is a nature-based belief system. The natural world and the spirit world are interwoven in the indigenous religions of Africa, and nature is viewed as highly sacred and spiritual. This is especially true in the case of land. Jacob Olupona speaks of the African worldview as viewing everything as unified and connected to the land, “the place where one’s clan, lineage and people were cosmically birthed.” In African spirituality land is spiritual because it is ancestral. The land is where the ancestors lived and died and where their bones are buried, therefore it is sacred. The natural world is also viewed as not merely physical but also mystical. In Shona spirituality animals such as lions are seen as representing senior ancestral spirits known as mhondoro, rivers are believed to shelter powerful water spirits called njuzu and certain mountains and hills are believed to be sacred and holy. In the spiritual traditions of Africa nature is not a separate element, but is at the very core of spiritual practice and belief. The interplay between nature and religion is symbolic of the divine interconnectedness of life and creation within African cosmology. The Masculine & Feminine Balance Indigenous African religions also uphold a belief in the balance between the masculine and feminine nature of spirit, meaning both the male and female essence is valued in spirituality. This is unlike other religious traditions of the world that are often male-centric and patriarchal in nature and outlook. African spirituality recognises the importance of the feminine element as a necessary balance to the masculine, therefore the role of women is highly prized. As Ivan van Sertima stated, “The woman in Africa was not seen as a rib or an appendage, or an afterthought to man, but as his divine equal.” This may be linked to the fact that African cosmology highly values the concept of fertility, the creative essence of nature that births and brings forth. Fertility is often associated with the mother or maternal principle, hence the importance of the feminine element. In Shona religion a man and a woman occupy the same position on the spiritual ladder, according to Mickias Musiyiwa. The Creator or High God in Shona spirituality, known as Mwari, has both female and male characteristics. Musiyiwa writes about Mwari having “feminine attributes”, and how Mwari is referred to as mother, father and grandmother by the Shona. Women also occupy important and influential positions as spiritual leaders in traditional Zimbabwean religion, as spirit mediums and healers. The most famous spirit in Zimbabwe, Nehanda, only possesses women mediums. All this exemplifies a spiritual system that seeks to balance the energy of the sexes, rather than separate them. Life Convergence & Ritual Another aspect of traditional spirituality is the profound spiritual basis of every aspect of physical reality. The African worldview sees every circumstance and situation as having a spiritual cause or influence. Nothing is purely an occurrence of the world of matter, or random, or coincidental. Everything that occurs has a spiritual basis. As Jacob Olupona states, “Religion informs everything in traditional African society. African spirituality simply acknowledges that beliefs and practices touch on and inform every facet of human life, and therefore African religion cannot be separated from the everyday or mundane.” Clapperton Mavhunga further states that every facet of life in Zimbabwean culture was spiritual. This means that in Zimbabwean traditional society whenever anything happened, good or bad, it was believed to have a spiritual source. If someone experienced good fortune it was attributed to blessings from the ancestors, but if a person experienced great negativity or misfortune it was due to witchcraft, ancestral anger or an avenging spirit. Therefore the spiritual is intrinsically tied with the physical and creates a cause-and-effect phenomenon in traditional spirituality. Ritual is central to African spirituality. Ritual is the practical aspect of traditional religion, it is the action that complements the beliefs and philosophies underlying the spiritual tradition. Rites, rituals and ceremonies play a prominent role in the practice of spirituality in the African context. The spirit world is approached and accessed through ritual acts filled with symbolism and meaning. Africans perform religious ritual in the search for answers to the complexities of life and guidance for an unknown future, according to J.K. Asamoah-Gyadu. Ritual practices are considered sacred and are carried out with the greatest reverence and respect. There is a belief that if rituals and ceremonies are not conducted properly this will anger the ancestors and lead to negative consequences, therefore they are practiced with much care. In Zimbabwe important ritual ceremonies include bira, a celebratory ceremony to invoke the ancestors, and mukwerera, an esoteric rain-making ceremony. Conclusion Finally, a central aspect of African spirituality is the lack of any holy book or sacred text that documents indigenous spiritual beliefs. Many world religions have holy books that contain their teachings and scriptures, but African spirituality is without such written records. On this issue Jacob Olupona asserts that indigenous African spiritual beliefs are not bound by a written text like Christianity, Islam and Judaism. He goes further to say, “Indigenous African religion is primarily an oral tradition and has never been fully codified.” African beliefs are handed down orally from generation to generation, meaning Africans carry their beliefs within themselves. African spiritual knowledge is contained within the souls of the indigenous people, it is part of them in the truest sense. They do not access their spiritual knowledge from a document or text but from knowledge received and stored in their inner beings, hence their connection to spirituality is innate. Spirit mediums, traditional healers and diviners carry and pass on spiritual beliefs. Original Article: www.vhedzasculturelounge.com |

| title | African Denial Of Complicity In The Slave Trade |
| body | The Dora Milaje Female Regiment depicted in 'Black Panther' is in a league of its own, inspiring respect and a revival recognizing the power of the Feminine in the broader cultural Consciousness. Referencing the Kingdom of Dahomey's (Now Benin) real-life 'Amazon' Female Regiment, a lost Chapter in African History has been rescued. The euphoria is therefore understandable, well intentioned and understood. However, the display of bygone African Military prowess should not only delight but also cause us to ask the question how that Power was used in Pre-Colonial Africa. In the case of Dahomey, the Military prowess was used to subjugate weaker Tribes who were then sold into Slavery by Empires such as Dahomey and the Assante. As Africans, it seems as if there is an attempt to ignore this aspect of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade because it does not accord with our modern sensibilities and mores. Perhaps its time we confronted the question of our own complicity in the Slave Trade. The extract below summarizes the key aspects quite neatly. Motivations for Slavery One question that many Westerners have about African slavers, is why were they willing to sell 'their own people'? During the era of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, Europeans did not have the power to invade African states or kidnap African slaves at will. For the most part, the 12.5 million slaves transported across the Atlantic Ocean were purchased from African slave traders. It is a piece of the triangle trade about which there are still many critical misperceptions. Why would they sell Africans to Europeans? The simple answer to this question is that they did not see slaves as 'their own people.' Blackness (as an identity or marker of difference) was a preoccupation of Europeans, not Africans. There was also in this era no sense of being 'African'. (Indeed, to this day, individuals are more likely to identify as being African rather than, say, Kenyan only after leaving Africa.) Some slaves were prisoners of war, and many of these may have been seen as enemies or rivals to those who sold them. Others were people who had fallen into debt. They were different by virtue of their status (what we might think of today as their class). Slavers also kidnapped people, but again, there was no reason they would inherently see slaves as 'their own'. Slavery as a Part of Life It might be tempting to think that African slave traders did not know how bad European plantation slavery was, but there was a lot of movement across the Atlantic. Not all traders would have known about the horrors of the Middle Passage or what life awaited slaves, but others at least had an idea. There are always people willing to ruthlessly exploit others in the quest for money and power, but the story of the African slave trade goes much further than a few bad people. Slavery and the sale of slaves, though, were parts of life. The concept of not selling slaves to willing buyers would have seemed strange to many people up until the 1800s. The goal was not to protect slaves, but to ensure that oneself and one's kin were not reduced to slaves. A Self-Replicating Cycle As the slave trade intensified in the 16 and 1700s, it also became harder not to participate in the trade in some regions of West Africa. The enormous demand for African slaves led to the formation of a few states whose economy and politics were centered around slave raiding and trading. States and political factions that participated in the trade gained access to firearms and luxury goods, which could be used to secure political support. States and communities who were not actively participating in the slave trade were increasingly at a disadvantage. The Mossi Kingdom is an example of a state that resisted the slave trade until the 1800s, when it began trading in slaves as well. When Slavery was eventually abolished, the damage had already been done. Conclusion: Slave Trade History Revisionism Black Panther's 'glorification' of the Dora Milaje is an understandable rare celebration of African culture in Mass Media. Ironically however, it also references a denied History in which Powerful African States with strong Armies like Dahomey were complicit in the Slave Trade. Perhaps its time to revise our understanding of the Slave Trade, and particularly the true extent of African involvement and complicity. "body": "The Dora Milaje Female Regiment depicted in 'Black Panther' is in a league of its own, inspiring respect and a revival recognizing the power of the Feminine in the broader cultural Consciousness. Referencing the Kingdom of Dahomey's (Now Benin) real-life 'Amazon' Female Regiment, a lost Chapter in African History has been rescued.\n\nThe euphoria is therefore understandable, well intentioned and understood. However, the display of bygone African Military prowess should not only delight but also cause us to ask the question how that Power was used in Pre-Colonial Africa.\n\nIn the case of Dahomey, the Military prowess was used to subjugate weaker Tribes who were then sold into Slavery by Empires such as Dahomey and the Assante. As Africans, it seems as if there is an attempt to ignore this aspect of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade because it does not accord with our modern sensibilities and mores.\n\nPerhaps its time we confronted the question of our own complicity in the Slave Trade.\n\nThe extract below summarizes the key aspects quite neatly.\nMotivations for Slavery\n\nOne question that many Westerners have about African slavers, is why were they willing to sell 'their own people'?\n\nDuring the era of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, Europeans did not have the power to invade African states or kidnap African slaves at will. For the most part, the 12.5 million slaves transported across the Atlantic Ocean were purchased from African slave traders. It is a piece of the triangle trade about which there are still many critical misperceptions.\n\nWhy would they sell Africans to Europeans? The simple answer to this question is that they did not see slaves as 'their own people.' Blackness (as an identity or marker of difference) was a preoccupation of Europeans, not Africans. There was also in this era no sense of being 'African'. (Indeed, to this day, individuals are more likely to identify as being African rather than, say, Kenyan only after leaving Africa.)\n\nSome slaves were prisoners of war, and many of these may have been seen as enemies or rivals to those who sold them. | title | Colonising Mars : Paradigm Shift |
| body | In 1948 at the Temple of the inscriptions in Palenque, the Tomb of Mayan King Pakal was discovered by Mexican archaeologist Alberto Ruz Lhuillier. The lid of King Pakal's burial chamber below has some interesting depictions. Ancient Alien theorists propose that it clearly depicts King Pakal in some sort of spaceship during takeoff, as his hands appear to be manipulating some sort of machinery, his foot is located on a pedal while he is breathing through some sort of breathing apparatus. The decorations on the "Monster of the Sun" resemble the intricate technology controls and mechanisms that we see on modern day spacecrafts. There is even the implied flames and smoke from the thrusters at the bottom of the craft with a plume of Rocket fire at the bottom end indicating that he is being propelled in flight. The theory about Pakal’s spaceship was first proposed by Erich von Däniken in his book Chariots of the Gods. The concept of Space-faring beings in the past traveling to Earth and engaging in a Colonisation project which resulted in the creation of mankind through genetic engineering, and ultimately the establishment of Civilization and Culture appears far-fetched to a species such as ours that is not yet Inter-Planetary. Our vanity as Human beings today prevents us from accepting the possibility that our very existence and perhaps that of our entire Civilization is due to the past activities of a Space-faring Alien Race, partly because we arrogantly assume that the limitations on Human Civilization apply to every other Civilization. However, our outlook may change once we become an Inter-Planetary species ourselves by Colonising Mars. A change in our collective attitude to the Ancient Astronaut Theory under these circumstances would not be surprising...It would be our vanity at work once again, which this time would be more open to the Ancient Astronaut Theory for no other reason other than that it would now seem plausible because it would lie within the realm of Human possibility by virtue of our own successful endeavour on Mars. An Inter-Planetary species that starts a successful Civilization on another Planet can more readily accept the idea that it was visited by another Inter-Planetary species at some stage in its own past. The impact of such a transformation on our Scientific understanding of the Universe is fairly obvious, but the ripple effects will be felt across a wide spectrum of concerns, including how we re-define not only ourselves as an Inter-Planetary species, but also our History, going beyond what we can imagine today. Maybe after we land on Mars, matters such as the interpretation of King Pakal's tombstone will become less contested, and seem rather 'obvious' only because what is depicted will now be within the range of Human possibility. There is still a lot of work to be done, and it is unlikely that a Mars landing will occur before 2040, nevertheless we are living in interesting times as witnesses to a journey that will irrevocably alter our understanding of our Human potential as well and what can be accomplished in Space. Shockwaves will certainly be felt, and there is no telling how far they will reach and how much things will change, but we can be sure that once we land on Mars, we will be an altered species, viewing the Universe through a different lens and seeing things we did not see or chose not to see before. | title | Steemit Blockchain's Promise To Me |
| body | Credit goes to Max Igan and James Corbett for directing me here. Its a privilege to be alive as the promise of the Blockchain is gradually fulfilled, and Steemit is a clear example of how Blockchain technology can benefit Humanity. Currently representing the movement from South Africa via my online Magazine which informs and challenges people to critically evaluate the current Paradigm, making sure Africa is part of the ongoing global conversation and has early access to the latest insights on various topics from the voices elevating Global Consciousness. We are blessed to be part of the seismic shift in the Paradigm of Civilization, and we must make it count by making our individual dent in the Universe...There has never been a better time. |
