This topic hit me so hard because I have a real life story to share which I have not really talked about it much online.\n\nPlease follow along as I narrate the story.\n\n>How Open I Was to Learning\n\nI used to think that I am pretty open to advice and teachable not untill I learnt my lesson the hard way. If an elderly person or someone with experience advices me on a particular thing I will just listen as him or her is speaking while nodding my head, and responding that I will think about it.  But in my head I already decided what I will do, either to continue doing it my own way or make little adjustments. I used to believe that if I don't try things myself that I won't really know. \n\nI remember when I opened my small grocery shop three years ago, my uncle who ran a shop for 12 years gave me one warning on one faithful day . He said and I quote “Never sell on credit to anyone, even to  people you know. It will finish your capital.” I gave him that beaming 😁 smiled, thanked him, and said to myself, “He is old school, that is not how things are done now. I will be careful. Things are different now, what works for you may not work for me.” I thought being kind and flexible would bring me more customers but that was the biggest mistake I made. \n\n\n>The Lesson I Learned the Hard Way \n\nI started giving goods to neighbors, friends, and even my landlords sons and they will promise that they will  “pay me at the end of the month.” At first it felt good and the  shop was busy, I made a lot of sales and people were happy, and and at that point I thought I was building loyalty not knowing they will soon take advantage of my kindness.\n\nWithin a space of six months to one year, the problem started, the same people who used to buy from me and pay at month end will buy and refuse to pay at month end, rather they will take  that money and go somewhere and buy from them. The same people who  bought rice, oil, and drinks would avoid me when they see me, while some of them will take a bush tract to go elsewhere to buy. If I see them, they will give me excuses and some will lie that they had send the money to me. I will check my account statement and nothing is found, no trace of payment made is seen. One man said, I will pay next week and for three months, he didn't pay and some of them even  blocked my number.   \n\n\n![1000235131.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRRLeAyhMR5imjhSiWrDDhKct9LVWo22QycsYyCQkNgvi/1000235131.jpg)\nEmpty shelf as a result of debts\n\nAt this point, I was using my own savings to buy new stock while names kept increasing in my debt book. I lost sleep thinking and worrying about my shop, the rents and all my plans.  The hardest part was realizing that  I brought this upon myself because I was informed in the early stage but I choose to be kind to people and hurt myself. \n\nI lost a lot of money which amounted to over #200,000 in unpaid credit before I finally put a stop to it.\n\nThe lesson I learned was that kindness without boundaries kills small businesses.\n\nNow I have set boundary to my kindness and I am happy now.\n\n![1000234473.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTKKPoLboKMQPAAWUvtx468QspeccQSTQZtQP3NgNVrfu/1000234473.jpg)\n\n\n>Did Learning It this Way Make Me a Better Person Today?\n\nYes, learning it this way makes me a better person but I always wishes that I had listened earlier. \n\nSince I changed my standards rule to “cash, POS payment and transfer only,” my shop runs smoother. I don't sell more goods with lesser money at hand and in the bank. I sleep better, knowing that my money and goods are save,  I restock on time and when I choose to, and the customers who stayed are the ones who respect my work and those who didn't mean well for me have all gone. I am happy to miss them because they are business killers with bad energy. I am more  open to learning now especially from those who has experience in the business.  When someone with experience talks I don't just nod for formality I ask questions and follow up then try their advice while watching out for outcome. \n\nLearning the hard way had made me tougher and wiser now, I am not that soft  person again who use to measure my garri and other foodstuffs to give to people without even expecting money from them in the name of  kindness. Anyone who walk up to me and lament for food, I direct them to where the market is or sometimes, I will quietly leave the person. \n\nI have come to conclude that being teachable is not  weakness rather  it been smart. Not free time no comfort.\n\nFood that I used to love suddenly becomes some thing else, no more favourites food. \nAt the same time, I was advised to eat for two but I wasn't able to eat for one, let alone eating for two. \n\nOne night I picked up my phone, scrolling and searching for help because I believed there would definitely be something that will helped during the first trimester. \n\n I kept seeing people talking about chia seeds and I was wondering how this tiny seeds can works magic. I was skeptical and didn't want anything that will affect me and my baby. \n\nDue to desperation, I try it and it works perfectly for me. \n\n\n![1000188127.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVaxL4kzqqxC2Pc4n8j6qWKx3KLD4gGbi8zA9GDWsPMdh/1000188127.png)\n\n### *How I got started?*\n\nI started by taking just a teaspoon of chia seeds and soaked it with  a glass of water, I add 1 teaspoon of lime and a tiny piece of ginger. \n\nI crushed the ginger and I added it to the mixture and drink it. \n\nI made research on lime and ginger and found that it wasn't dangerous for me and the baby so I go ahead and used it. \n\nI took a sip of it little by little while listening to how I will react to it. I noticed I wasn't throwing up even do it was tasteless, it all went down easily without any disturbance.\n\n\n\nAfter taking it for the first and second day, I started noticing that I was no longer bloated as before and within a week I was feeling very light and comfortable. \n\nThe nausea, the bloating and vomiting completely disappeared though I still had light morning sickness which was very easy for me to manage. I ate whatever I wanted to eat. So I can say that chia seed improved my digestion. At this point I said goodbye to bloated stomach and constipation.\n\nI noticed that my nausea got lighter and better, I was not feeling sluggish as before.\n\nThere are other ways to use chia seeds even when you are not pregnant but that how I used my own.\n\nIf you want to use this seed in your first trimester please talk to your doctor before trying out this seed. Because what works for me might not work for you since our body differs. \n\n\nFirst trimester of pregnancy is uncomfortable, messy, and honestly it is sometimes scary.
