We recently published two articles on the blog, [Introducing Ubqhash](https://blog.ubiqsmart.com/introducing-ubqhash-8fa515befd7) and [Announcing the UIP1 Hard Fork](https://blog.ubiqsmart.com/announcing-the-uip-1-hard-fork-84d9b8b3b924), which include a useful FAQ section to answer the community’s questions regarding the steps users and miners will have to take during this transition.\n\nThe hard fork network upgrade will take place on block 660,000. The current estimation for this to take place is between November 21 to 22. Please remember that this time-frame will change with average block times and is therefore hard to pinpoint. Initially Gubiq was updated to version 2.0.0. However, soon after public testing commenced, a bug was noticed and a patch was pushed out by the dev team immediately.\n\nThe bug related to some optimizations which were prematurely committed in version 2.0.0. relating to HomesteadBlock, EIP150Block, EIP150Hash and EIP158Block.\n\nBesides this bugfix, we note the following changes:\n\n1. Add support for UIP1 hard fork PoW change from Ethash to Ubqhash\n2. Build fixes for Go 1.11+\n3. Replace references to “golang.org/x/net/context” with Go built-in “context” package\n\nFor all users running fusion, there will be a prompt to upgrade, which you will need to confirm. Fusion will then download and update to Gubiq 2.0.1. automatically.\n\nPyrus, Myetherwallet, Ledger and Trezor users will not have to update anything.\n\n## **First Mobile Wallet integration — Dexlab**\n\nDexlab recently confirmed that [Ubiq is now supported in their mobile wallet](https://www.dexwallet.io/), available on iOs.       "body": "![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmSZqotqHwPV1yuUqdcuWygr5c1EpuNVVXR6kDvGabeQAn/image.png)\n\n**Ubiq Monthly Report — September 2018**\n\nHello everyone and welcome to the first monthly report in Ubiq’s history.As per our recent news updates we are making this a regular feature on the blog, keeping our community up to date with recent developments in the Ubiq ecosystem.\nThis report contains several key updates around development progress, community projects and marketing activities. \n Let’s dive straight in.\n\n**Governance Updates**\n\n**Ubiq Community Operations Call**\n\nWith the recent re-structuring around official communications, several team members have been assisting with the production of new content and managing operational tasks, in order to free up the core team to focus on development and networking. With this in mind we have established a monthly operations call to discuss areas of focus and delegate responsibilities.\n\nWe held our first closed meeting on the 8th of September where we discussed priorities, team structure and ownership of actions. We started several new projects off the back of this discussion which we hope to share with the wider community soon.\n\n**ESCH Airdrop #3**\n\nWe have scheduled the third Escher airdrop to start on block 608,600 and run through till 638,600 (Approximately the entire month of October).  The ratio is set at 3 ESCH per 1 UBQ for this airdrop and we will make an announcement when this goes live.\n\n**UIP2 results**\n\nVoting for UIP2 has taken place between blocks 588,800 and 602,800 with a participation rate of 25.34%.\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWcAMDoskeTZyiRcPHqoaFBkwWeMpWFtzPK9ojudUu9iY/image.png)\n*UIP2 Participation rate*\n\nThe voting was a close race between options 1 (BTC) and 2 (ETH) right until the finish. However the community has decided to sell the BTC forks for ETH. It is the first open source release which involves a complete re-write of all associated codebases.  The new interface utilizes vuejs and the API uses Golang. There are two compatible data aggregators, one in Nodejs (the reference code) plus a Golang implementation that Angellox has been working on. Moving forward the golang backend will replace the nodejs code entirely.\n\nThe new code performs vastly better than the previous code that was being used by Ubiqscan. Spectrum v3 covers all existing Ubiqscan functionality, plus more.  There is still a lot planned that will be added in staggered releases. Improved mobile support, internal transactions, and contract code validation are planned items with the most importance.\n\nOffchain data used by spectrum will be stored in a decentralized manner so other explorers or services running on the network can easily integrate and utilize this data (such as contract code, address tags/alerts/flags).\n\nThis will allow contract developers to submit their code for validation on location, while making it available to everyone, removing a central point of failure for this important data.  This update aligns with the collaborative work with the ‘Open Source Block Explorer NOW!’ groups YouTube open calls, hosted by Griff Green (from GivETH), which members of the Ubiq team have been part of since its inception.\n\n**UIP1 Update**\n\nWork on the new hashing algorithm has been taking place since June and has gone through multiple iterations and testing.\n\nPreliminary development has now completed and is entering the public testing phase. 20 miners from the community have volunteered to run the new algo on the testnet, allowing the core team to make observations and adjustments where necessary. Development and testing are taking place on a private repository that will be made public upon completion of the project.\n\nWe will implement the upgrade as a hard fork and the changes will largely be to the DAG file. Therefore the hashing will remain the same in terms of speed across all hardware. We aim to implement the network upgrade in 2018, once we have confirmed its stability.\n\nThe algo will be called UBQhash and will lead to greater independence in the mining ecosystem, bringing greater chain security as Ubiq won’t be affected by what happens with ETH mining changes, be it reduced rewards or moving to Proof of Stake.\n\nThe update also includes a new feature called Exponential Subjective Scoring, which we will explore in a blog post soon.\n\n**Advertising / Marketing Updates**\n\n**New Community Manager**\n\nAs part of the new community focus on marketing, we would like to announce a formal position for Kris Lester as the new Ubiq Community Manager.\n\nAlex is still very much a part of the core Ubiq team, but will now be the Business Manager, focusing on expanding our corporate reach within the blockchain space.\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTM9ETF72GZNkN1JutUKbPfpBfptLgvW5dXvf6GjM2Zt9/image.png)\n*New positions for Alex and Kris*\n\nWe designed this position to provide a layer of leadership within the marketing and communication functions, to streamline the decision-making process.\n\nKris is working on expanding the reach of our articles by working with 3rd party crypto-news sites, engaging the community via competitions, streamlining the reporting process and building the Ubiq brand.\n\nSome of the work he has been focusing on is detailed below.\n\n**Medium Re-vamp**\n\nAs Medium grows in content, there is a need for introducing a filing system for the different content being written. The next Epoch at the time of writing this is at block 630,000, which is less than a week away. This is too soon for the hard fork as it doesn’t give enough time to get everyone prepared and upgraded.\n\nTherefore, Ubiq is scheduled to hard fork at block 660,000. This corresponds to mining Epoch 22.\n\nGubiq 2.0\nGubiq 2.0 full node is now available:\nhttps://github.com/ubiq/go-ubiq/releases/tag/v2.0.1\n\nAll services which run Ubiq nodes must upgrade ASAP.  Fusion wallet will be updated to point to the latest version and you will automatically be prompted to upgrade.\n\nUbqminer\nUbqminer open source GPU miner is now available:\nhttps://github.com/ubiq/ubqminer/releases\n\nUbqminer is the fork of Ethminer provided by the community. Ubiq holders can simply keep their coins on a private wallet, hardware wallet or on exchange.\n\nWill I have to update Fusion?\n\nFusion will prompt you to update your version of Gubiq. The Fusion front end can remain unchanged.\n\nDoes this mean we will have two Ubiq chains like ETH and ETC?\n\nUIP 1 was voted on by the community and had over 95% support from all participants. This hard-fork upgrade is not contentious and therefore the likelihood of a chain split is low.\n\nAre the exchanges supporting the upgrade?\n\nThis is the first public release of the hardfork block and software. There is ample time until the fork to allow for a high chance of support from our exchange partners.\n\nAre hardware wallets supporting the upgrade?\n\nYour hardware wallet requires no changes to use the upgraded chain.
