Couldn't it be the other way round, that they are actually *worshiping* our divine bodies? If we're made in God's image, than this deity certainly must have huge pendulous boobs and a curvy hourglass figure, as much as broad shoulders, massive biceps, and a six-pack abdomen. All of those features just invite one to touch, to caress, to squeeze, to kiss, right? And I haven't even touched on the sexual parts...\n\nIn my opinion, one can certainly find fulfillment in enjoying our bodies, each others bodies, or even in watching each other enjoy each other's bodies on a screen. Certainly, it's a far cry from intellectual stimulation, lasting love, or other more meaningful activities. But it is what it is: momentary satisfaction of our carnal lust, which by its nature of coming from our body, must be from God, so it can't be wrong. \n\nThis is just my view, by the way, and I do not intend to impose it onto others. Though I'm a bit sorry to see so much misunderstanding regarding the physical pleasures of our existence. As on May 15, 780 cases of rape were reported - which boils down to an average of over 5 cases each day. Compared to the number of cases in 2017 upto May 15, data shows a 3.03% increase in the number of rapes reported in the country’s capital.\nThe police reports for 2017 and 2018, from January 1 to May 15 in both years, show a drop in the total number of heinous crimes in Delhi by roughly 5.6%. However, the reported cases of rape alone, have increased from 757 to 780.\n \nDelhi Police in denial?\n“These figures certainly do not mean that the crime rate has increased”, says Ex-Police Commissioner, Neeraj Kumar. He believes that reporting of the crime has increased because of several changes implemented in the legal system that have made the filing of FIRs simpler, and also added stalking, teasing, sexual harassment etc under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). As most cases occur within the private realm (96.63%) - when the accused is known to the victim - “police intervention becomes indirect and should not be confused with sluggish action”, he told NewsClick.\n“Kumar’s comments don’t justify the low rates of conviction while the reported rapes keep increasing”, Chief of Delhi Commission of Women, Swati Maliwal, told NewsClick. She further argues that the nature of occurrence of the crime - private or public - should have no effect on police action. Maliwal blamed instead the archaic working of the police force, and the shortage of personnel. Disputing Kumar’s claims too, Piyoili Swajita, Advocate, SC, who regularly represents sexual assault victims says, “... statement is symptomatic to the working of the Police.  The Women’s Cell of the Delhi Police once tried to coerce my client to not file a domestic violence complaint as it would tarnish her marriage.” There is a pressing need to introduce proper, systematic training for the police personnel at all levels. In most cases, they seem to respect the institutions of family and marriage more than the rights of the woman.\n \nDangerous disparity between reported rapes and convicted cases;\nThe number of rapes reported each year in Delhi, as we see, rose 277% from 572 in 2011 to 2,155 in 2016, according to Delhi Police data.\n \nThe National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, 2016, had revealed that only 1 in every 4 cases of rape ends with conviction. The already-low conviction rate of 29% in 2015, fell further to 25.5% the following year.\nThe data of conviction rates for the years 2017 and 2018 is not available yet. The gap between the number of rapes reported and the number of rapists convicted in the previous years is appalling.\nThe complexity of the legal system itself an impediment to conviction?\nIn Delhi alone, 20% cases reported in the first two months of 2018 are still pending trial. Explaining this complexity, Bindu, a litigator at Alternative Law Forum, told Newsclick that after the  FIR is filed, most reports are dismissed due to lack of evidence. The victim turning “hostile” - that is, to withdraw the case - due to intimidation, is another reason for the low rates, she pointed out.       "body": "Why companies are trying to normalize pornography\nAnd how it dehumanizes people in the process\n\nDec 23, 2019\n\nRecently, a tweet by Netflix that read something like “What is something you can say during sex and while watching Netflix?” went viral. I highly discourage you from checking the replies as nearly every major brand (as well as everyday people) degraded themselves for a fleeting joke. The whole exchange revealed how sexualized humor has become normal in our society. Even well-known companies like Wendy’s and Hulu responded to the initial tweet. But one reply in particular stuck out to me. Pornhub, the world’s largest porn site, with over 42 billion visits in 2019 and over 115 million visits per day, tweeted “everything” which caused a big stir on Twitter. \n\nHumanizing porn\nMany users found it hilarious that a pornography company commented on the thread. Others jumped quickly on the bandwagon with similar language and even shared animated gifs of popular characters like baby Yoda indulging in the use of porn. With this type of social media engagement, Pornhub is trying to portray themselves as just another brand online. It is an attempt to show that real people are behind this massive entity. It’s also an effort to demonstrate that their product is a normal part of our society. \n\nIt’s important to remember, though, that Pornhub is not morally neutral. Their product is deeply corrosive in our society and dangerous for anyone to indulge in, especially our children. Pornhub, as well as the wider pornography industry, especially preys on the weak in our communities by objectifying those made in God’s image. Everything this platform does, from hardcore and amateur sex videos to virtual reality and augmented-reality porn, is driven by the intent to ensnare and debase its users in the name of profit. The entire design is to desentize us to the reality of pornography, to sear our consciences, and to keep users coming back for more. The industry knows that these things will never truly satisfy you and that you will pay good money in the search for a new thrill.\n\nReceive news and culture content in your inbox each week\nSign up for ERLC Highlights\nGone are the days of pornography being hidden in the closet or on the back shelf of a convenience store. Pornography is nearly ubiquitous in our society, often not even costing users anything—other than their souls. Not a day goes by that we don’t encounter images and videos that would make past generations blush, but we chalk it up to living in the 21st century. The use of social media has fueled the growth of the pornography industry, just as porn has always grown on the back of technological developments. As illustrated by the intense debate over whether pornography should be banned and whether or not the government has any role in regulating these obcenities, pornography is now being paraded as an expected part of society.\n\nDehumanizing people\nPornhub’s desire to be more human and personal in their online interactions is highly ironic, though, because their product is designed to dehumanize those involved—on both sides of the screen—for sheer profit. The entire goal of pornography is to achieve a sexual high outside of the covenant of marriage by taking advantage of other people. As men and women perform on video and and others indulge in these videos through the platform, they are not being treated as image-bearers of God but as mere objects used and abused for a temporary sexual high and a profit. They are led astray from God’s life-giving design for human sexuality as one man and one woman in marriage for life. \n\nThe hope of the gospel is that Jesus doesn’t define our lives by our addictions or even our sexuality.\n\nFurthermore, there are also countless women who are trafficked for sex with the sole purpose of creating online pornography. And we see the far-reaching effects of pornography on our children who are now being exposed to it before the age of 10 as well as through the rampant sexual abuse crisis in our country. The industry leaves objectified women, emasculated men, and scandalized users in its wake. Everyone’s dignity is at stake as these companies seek to grow their bottom line. \n\nYet, the truth is that we were created in God’s image, with dignity, and for a purpose—to glorify him in our bodies and minds as we seek to love him and honor our neighbor (Matt. 22:37-39). And the hope of the gospel is that Jesus doesn’t define our lives by our addictions or even our sexuality. 1 John 1:9 reminds us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from our unrighteousness. This isn’t just a one-time cleansing. God knows each of us will continue to struggle with sin throughout our lives. Even if you are reading this and stuck in a sinful pattern of indulging in pornography, there is hope for you. No one is too far gone for Christ to save them from this dark pit of despair and addiction.\n\nAs believers, we cannot allow pornography to become mainstream in our hearts or in our families. We must fight against the schemes that attempt to make pornography seem more palatable to our consciences. And we must continually expose this travesty. Nothing about pornography is normal, and it is wreaking havoc on our society. Everyone needs to be on guard against its insidious nature and actively push back against this darkness in our hearts and on our social media feeds.",

They will be granted fast track Indian citizenship in six years. So far 12 years of residence has been the standard eligibility requirement for naturalisation.\nAt the first hearing on petitions challenging the CAA, the Supreme Court declined to stay the contentious law but asked the Centre to file its reply against the petitions that say it violates the Constitution. The petitioners say the Bill discriminates against Muslims and violates the right to equality enshrined in the Constitution. It seeks to legally establish Muslims as second-class citizens of India by providing preferential treatment to other groups. This violates the Constitution’s Article 14, the fundamental right to equality to all persons. This basic structure of the Constitution cannot be reshaped by any Parliament. And yet, the government maintains that it does not discriminate or violate the right to equality.\nWhat will be govt's move post protests?\nThe President gave his assent to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, on December 12, a day after it was passed by the Rajya Sabha. However, the home ministry has yet to notify the rules to operationalise the law. The notification of rules may now have to wait as a decision in this regard will be taken after seeking experts’ advice since the matter is sub judice before the Supreme Court.\nThe petitions against the Act are listed for hearing on January 22. In case experts feel that the rules can be challenged on legal grounds, the government will wait till January 22.
