Fondly known as the ‘City of Nawabs’ or the ‘City of Tehzeeb’, it has always been a city filled with varied cultures.\n\nIts beautiful sprawling gardens, polite mannerisms, fine-cuisine, music, and poetry (Shayari), had found a patronage in the Shia Nawabs of the city who loved Persian.\n\nThe city has been given various other names too, such as The Constantinople of India, Shiraz-i-Hind and the Golden City of the East.\n\nToday, it is known as one of the most important cities of the country which is now emerging in various sectors like retailing, manufacturing and commercial.\n\nLucknow city has to offer a unique feature to its travelers, which is a perfect combination of its rich traditions and the modern growth of new-mannerisms. These types of buses have been very successful in Lucknow it is liked by all sections of commuters it is liked very much for environment friendly, easy, comfortable & safe transportation by daily commuters like office goers, students, senior citizen and ladies.\n\nThe Autorikshaw\n\nAn Autorickshaw is a small vehicle that has one seat in the front for the driver and a larger seat at the back for passengers. The autorickshaw is capable of accommodating around four people at a time. These are available round the clock and anywhere in the city. It faces some extremities in temperature in summers and winters. The climatic conditions of Lucknow vary in different seasons and there is much difference in summer and winter temperature. Lucknow basically experiences a warm sub-tropical kind of climate. Lucknow weather is quite unpredictable and it may rain or shine brightly at the same time! Lucknow was one of the major centres of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and actively participated in India’s independence movement, emerging as a strategically important North Indian city. It was built as a part of a relief project for a major famine that took place in the year 1784. The Bara Imambara of Lucknow is one of the most famous monuments of this place. It is also called Asfi Imambara after the name of the Nawab of Lucknow who got it constructed. It is an important place of worship for the Muslims who come here every year to celebrate the religious festival of Muharram.\n\nThe Bara Imambara has a unique style of construction. The central hall of Bara Imambara is said to be the largest arched hall in the world. The hall measures 50 meters long and goes upto a height of 15 meters. What makes the construction unique is the fact that the blocks have been put together with interlocking system of bricks and there has been absolutely no use of girders and beams. The roof stands steady till date without any pillars to support it.\n\nThe Bara Imambara is known for its incredible maze called Bhulbhulaiya. This is located in the upper floor of the monument. A stairway leads to this level. One can view a scenic panorama of the city from the top of this monument, which is absolutely breath-taking. The Bhulbhulaiya is a must see and the best way to find your way out without getting lost is by hiring a guide. It is said that great treasures are hidden in the secret tunnels of this maze. This 19th century building is also known as the palace of lights because of its decorations and chandeliers during special festivals\n\nChota Imambara is often touted as the most prominent historical structure of Lucknow by many locals. Architecturally, it is a wonderful amalgam of Charbagh, Indo-Islamic and Persian structural designs. You can shop for quality chikan embroidered materials as it is the hub of chikan garment manufacturers. Besides this, the market has also risen to prominence as a centre of handicrafts. You can shop for beautifully-carved ivory items having flowers, leaves and birds motifs. Master craftsmen create intricate items, such as lampshades, knives and toys that look marvellous. It was formerly known as the Prince of Wales Zoo but was later renamed after.
