| body | MY FOREVER(A Short Story) MY FOREVER I should be used to people running out of my life the second they hear of my condition, but as I looked through the window for the umpteenth time, hoping for a miracle, I realize I am not. I wiped the tears coercing down my cheeks as my molded heart broke into tiny little pieces. Tunde is not the first, second or third man to run out my life, actually, he is the fifth. Five times, I have watched hopes shatter before my very eyes. Five times, I have believed in what seems impossible and five times, I have regretted it. I looked through the window again, scanning the environment with teary eyes, still no sign of Tunde. I grabbed the windowpanes as I cried my eyes out. How would I be able to bear losing Tunde? Tunde had been given a glimpse of what it felt like to be a woman. Not even Bayo – my first love – had given me that. With Tunde, I never had to try hard to feel beautiful, he would just look at me and I would know that I am. He always looked at me like I am the most important person in the world. He wooed me the old-fashioned way; took me out dancing, sent me flowers, sent me love letters even at work and practically was the man of my dreams. I got so caught up in our love that I could not tell him the one secret that I knew would have him running, the same way others had. I wanted to enjoy being loved a little bit more, to feel that extreme happiness just a little while longer; but then he had showed up tonight. He had stunned me by kneeling before me and producing the most startlingly beautiful ring, asking me to marry him. It was the moment I have always hoped for; was the dream I never thought could see the light of day. But finally presented with the promise of ‘forever’, I realized I could not accept him; not without telling him that the woman he is in love with is a sickle-cell patient. I cried harder, leaving the window and slipping to the floor as I remembered the horrified look on his face. He had been so destroyed as he stormed out of my house with the ring jammed fiercely in the pocket of his khaki trouser. I buried my hands in my thick hair as I cried harder. My head seemed to swim as a heavy wave of dizziness took over me and a fine sheen of sweat broke over my already damp body. Pain shot through me as I made for the drawer to take my pills, slowing down my movement. I clutched at the edge of the table as pain engulfed me. I couldn’t determine which was more painful – the painful seizure which had me crumbling breathlessly to the floor or the painful exit of Tunde. I have come to accept that Sickle Cell Anaemia is my forever! I would forever live in pain and misery, a regular face at clinics and hospitals until my last breath. But have I been wrong to think I could have a normal life like every other person out there? Struggling, I dragged myself on all four, moving towards the drawer when suddenly, the door flew open. I turned my head to see Tunde standing there, his chest heaving like someone who had just run a hundred metres race. “Janet! What is wrong?” he hurriedly asked, noticing me on the floor. “My… my… drugs” I managed to gasp, pointing at the drawer. He hurriedly dashed forward, opened the drawer and pulled out the tiny bottle. He filled a cup with water and held it to my lips. He rocked me gently on the floor. I couldn’t understand it! What was he doing here? Minutes passed by and the pain slowly eased. “What are you doing here Tunde?” I dared to ask. “I still want to marry you” he dropped. I gasped. “What?” “Yes. I don’t care what sickness you have Janet, all I know is that I want to spend my life loving you, taking care of you. We would make every second of every day memorable and special. I love you so much Jane; that hasn’t changed. Please… please be my wife” I cried harder unable to believe what was happening as he ran his thumb against my cheek and kissed my forehead. “Please… don’t play with me Tunde” I cried. Could I give hope one last chance? He pulled me more firmly against himself. “There is no other woman I would rather be with Jane. Please marry me Janet, please” My tears ran endlessly. “Yes… God, Yes” He exhaled and slipped the ring onto my shaking finger. I couldn’t believe my eyes. He kissed me softly and held me in a firm hug. “I love you Janet” “I love you Tunde.” My forever no longer looks gloomy. Sickle Cell might be the bane of my existence, but with Tunde, my forever doesn’t seem like a life sentence anymore. Happiness is in store for me, love also is in store for me. And with love, even the most turbulent journey can be made pleasurable! *** |

| body | Mark 15 tells the story of the death of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. It is a story of pain but also of gain. It brought the worst of hell and the best for man. It is my constant prayer that the cry of Jesus on the cross will not be in vain in my life. In this chapter we see that Jesus was brought before Pilate (Mar 15:1-5); then we read about the release of Barabbas and the condemnation of Jesus (Mar 15:6-15). He was crowned with thorns and mocked (Mar 15:16-21) and eventually crucified (Mar 15:22-32). Jesus was obedient unto death, the death of the cross (Mar 15:33-41) and lastly we see his burial (Mar 15:42-47). The chapter relates the amazing story of the release of a known criminal called Barabbas. This is a picture of man or better still a picture of me. Who knows where I would have been today if not for the timely intervention of Jesus in my life? A criminal on his way to the cross got delivered – just like that! How ridiculous it would have been for him to refuse the free offer he got through Jesus. No sinner has any excuse for going to hell. Glory to God. While Barabbas was a criminal, Simon of Cyrene was not. He was possibly one of those pilgrims who came to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. “And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.” (Mark 15:21) Soldiers compelled him to carry the cross of Jesus because the Saviour was already too weak to carry it Himself. The experience must have made a deep impression on Simon for we find Cyrene prominent as a gospel centre later in Acts (2:10; 11:20; 13:1) and Paul called the mother of Rufus (son of Simon) his mother “Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.” (Romans 16:13) A forced encounter with Jesus, changed his life forever. May my encounters with the Lord make me better in every area of my life. I am also challenged by the boldness of Joseph. At a time that really mattered, when all who should have stood with Jesus fled, “Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.” (Mark 15:43) This man stood up to be counted as a disciple when the real disciples fled! Here was a man who had access to Pilate using his influence for the cause of Christ. Today I choose to be a disciple of Jesus and I will fully identify myself with His cause. Lord, I thank You that You went to the cross because of me. I am grateful that You bore the loneliness of the cross because of me. I therefore go into this day renouncing my right to be free outside Your control. I want to be a companion of cross-bearers. My desire is to carry Your cross like Simon did. I am not forced into this, it is my choice to be Your follower. I also will, like Joseph, identify with You today before men and women that I come across no matter their social status. You were not ashamed to die in my place like You did for Barabbas and so I too willingly choose to belong to You, carry Your cross and honour You in every way that I can. This is my desire today, please help me to faithfully execute these goals. In Jesus name I pray Amen. |

| body | *Daily Manna:* ********************************* 📆 MONDAY DECEMBER 18 *Children Of Light* ********************************* TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:1-10 Key verse: *_“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8)._* A preacher once recounted his experience on the way to work. A co-passenger in a cab was reading a magazine filled with pictures of gorgeous naked women in seductive poses. He would comment on each woman’s finer features and ask for his response. He was stunned at his depraved disposition. The question however is, how should you as a Christian respond to such situations at work when the other workers share the latest dirty jokes. Should you say nothing and just walk away? These are the difficult, real-life situations that Paul the apostle addressed in the text. He was answering the question of how we, as children of light, should relate to a morally dark world. He does not give us specific directions to follow when we face these difficult situations but he gives us comprehensive guiding principles. By understanding these principles, each of us can think through on how to respond when these situations arise, as surely they will. We are admonished to steer clear of moral vices prevalent among the unregenerate: fornication, all uncleanness, covetousness, filthiness, foolish talking, jesting, “which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks”. Therefore, all those merely professing Christianity and relationship with Christ but daily live without corresponding evidence of a transformed nature, risk eternal damnation in hell. Some Christians have become so much like the world in their attitude and behaviour that there is no appreciable difference between them in dressing, talking, choice of career, marriage, and so on. Being children of light implies that we radiate our transformed lives. Just as He created light out of darkness, He has changed us from being darkness itself into light in the Lord and to the world. ********************************* *THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:* The redeemed is a light to the world. The Bible IN ONE YEAR: REVELATION 15-17 ********************************* *Are you a mere 'professor' or a 'possessor'?* *Have a blessed day* |

| body | THE STRUGGLING VIRGIN This story is a work of fiction, inspired by the Holy Spirit, meant for evangelism. However, please feel free to share with families and friends, you may be giving someone hope. You are blessed! “Segun, for Christ’s sake, why are you being persistent about this?” Ronke threw up her hands in exasperation. “You of all people know this is absolutely wrong, we can’t do this. I really love you but I can’t allow this.” “See Ronke, I know we are supposed to abstain from pre-marital sex, I even talked about it in bible study two weeks ago,” Segun said, “but you need to understand I am a man, I have needs, I have urges. It’s becoming so strong and my love for you is not making it easy either.” He placed his hands in his pockets and turned to face her. He was clearly agitated. “I have needs too, Segun, but these needs have to wait till marriage to be met, I love you too and—” “Are you really sure about that?” Segun countered, “because if it is as strong as mine for you, you will understand me, we will be on the same pedestal.” “God! Segun, I can’t believe you are saying this, and you know where we both stand in Christ, we are both—” “Excos in fellowship and children of God, yes I know that, but I also know that fresh and hot blood flow through my veins.” He removed his hands from his pockets and grabbed the rails. “I think we need a break, Ronke, at least for us to cool off. I need to think about us.” “A break? Till when? How?” “I don’t know, I really need to settle some things. Look, I have to go now. I have SOC 411 by 7 am tomorrow and Professor will not tolerate lateness, you know.” “Can I call you tomorrow after class?” “Did you hear what I said at all? A break means no contact, please.” He replied as he left her at the sports complex of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Tears rolled down the face of Ronke. She was so confused about it all, she didn’t even know if to call him back or just allow him be. A break? What’s happening? Lord, what do I do now? I am so confused! I know what your word says yet my heart is hurting, my body aches for the one I love? I am on the verge of losing him. She had been with Segun for the past two years and they had been so sure God was calling them to be together forever. Segun was the bible study secretary of their fellowship and she was the assistant choir director. When they started courting, it was with strong conviction in their hearts that God wanted them to be together, until when they started having sexual pressures. She actually knew how he felt…ever since Segun had kissed her there at the sports complex, holding on has been difficult. Yet she knew it was sin to do so and had made up her mind never to do it again until marriage. What would she do now? Lord, are you there? Are you listening to me? Is it ok for all these guys to leave just because I say no each time? I am in my final year Lord, if Segun puts an end to our relationship, won’t I fall into the category of sisters waiting for brothers to approach them after refusing those that came in their prime? I am so confused! Lord please help me. Please, please… ****** A month later, Ronke was walking along the sidewalk on her way to the Faculty of Social Sciences, when she sighted Segun with a cute lady, his arms around her as they made their way to the amphitheater, barely three days after breaking it up finally! That was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. She felt like someone just rubbed salt to her wounds. She changed her direction back to the sports complex, a place of prayer and comfort for so many. She reached the Main Bowl and walked down to a far corner, and then burst out crying, Oh Segun, how could you? How could you? She couldn’t take it anymore. That would be the third guy that had left her because she refused to sleep with either of them. Of the three, Segun was the most promising—a child of God, handsome, had a sense of humour and was from a good home. Lord, why is this happening to me? Why? I love you Lord but I love Segun too! Why did you allow him to leave me, why? If he, your child too, could want to sleep with me, isn’t it right to do so? We were going to get married! Lord I am so confused! She began to cry profusely. Then she started to sing and to speak in tongues, because she just didn’t know what to say. Twenty minutes later, she brought out a notepad, the special book she wrote the impressions of the Lord upon her heart in—one of the special ways God communicated with her. She took out a pen and began to write… If you know how much I love you, Darling Daughter, your heart will not be this weary. Only if you know what I planned for you before the foundations of the world, hence the commandments I laid down in the scriptures—I wanted sex in a relaxed atmosphere for you, one with no shame, no desperation to please or to do difficult things to make him stay and not leave, and that can only happen in marriage- a place where he would have already made a commitment to stay with you before enjoying the pleasures of your body. That was why I said it is a sin against yourself, allowing him to take pleasures from you without the forever commitment to take care of your body, soul and spirit, through thick and thin. “It is so true according to my word, that I love you so deeply that I call you my daughter. The enemy of your soul hates you so much, hence he has set things in place to weaken your mind and make you feel you need sex now, that you must have it now—pornography, sex adverts, TV series— he polluted everywhere, so as to deprive you of your full blessing. “But I have given you an escape through my word— you are only to think of things that are of virtue and praiseworthy—the Bible, books, good films, and you know if they are good or not. Why don’t you focus on these things, your mind must not be blank at any point in time. “I have a daughter like you who has saturated her library with books and films made by Christians. Though she is not free from temptation, she is well able to overcome because she recognised my place of escape for her and took it! “Aderonke, concerning the man you will marry, I have already settled you, wait for him, Beloved.” Ronke felt like the balm of Gilead had indeed been used to massage her heart, she felt a peace she couldn’t explain even to herself. Thank you Jesus, she silently prayed. She made up her mind there and then, she was going to wait for that man that deserved her body, her waiting… ******* Three years later Ronke stood at the left hand side of her groom, before the Lord, her pastor and all witnesses to say ‘I do’ with peace in her heart and gratitude to the lord. The wait was indeed worth it, Toba deserved her body of all men she had met. He actually proved it, he was a God lover who poured the same love on her. He always said she was God’s daughter and so he had to take care of God’s possession! Can you imagine? She couldn’t imagine how she would have felt now if she had allowed the other guys to sleep with her. He deserved the gift tonight, all of me, she thought as the groom removed her veil in preparation for their first kiss…… “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” 1st Cor. 6:18 KJV. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.” Phil. 4:8 KJV The Lord desires for you to wait till marriage before you have sex, because he knows that sex is sweet only when you wait to marry the right partner. You can make a new decision today to stay pure and live for Jesus. THE End... |

The reason organizations have rules and regulations is for the orderly and decent conduct of their affairs. This is a necessary bedrock on which the successful attainment of the organization’s objectives depend. Obedience to such rules and regulations is of paramount importance. Failure to observe the rules attracts disciplinary measure. The history of the children of Israel, particularly their relationship with the Almighty is one that elicits a feeling of awe and indignation. Today, they are on the mountain top obeying God implicitly; tomorrow, they are down the valley worshiping man-made idols. Yet, God would not utterly abandon them; He would send a prophet to warn them. God’s commandment ought to serve as a constant reminder of the benefit of obedience and the inescapable punishment for rebellion. Baal worship involved cult, prostitution and child sacrifice. The prophets repeatedly condemned Baal worship with its associated sacrifices and warned the Israelites of the anger of God. They were, most times, far too gone to pay any heed. Soon, the nation began to decline “because they forsook the LORD and served Baal and Ashtoreth” (verse 13). The inevitable eventually happened to them as “the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel.” He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy” (Proverbs 29:1). Why not take a cue from the sad and unfortunate example of Israel and avoid courting God’s ire and indignation. ********************************* THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To be stubborn and obstinate before God is to court His anger and Judgement. | body | THE LAST SMILE Episode 2 Raymond’s cloth clung to his body as he jumped out of his car, rushing to the back seat. Bose saw his anxiety and went to him, trying to see if he needed her help for anything. She squeeled at the sight before her. Never in her life had she seen a human being so dirty. Wait; is she dead? Her eyes popped as she stood frozen behind Raymond. Raymond checked the pulse of the girl and heaved a relieved sigh. He glanced back and saw Bose standing transfixed behind him. “Don’t just stand there gawking, go and open the door”, he spat out, louder than he had intended. She obeyed instantly, vanishing from sight. Ray lifted the girl effortlessly, his gaze fixed on the girl, not even bothering to close the door of the car. “What is this thing you carry, Ray?” he heard. Raymond stared at Tinuke for some seconds, not really knowing what to say instantly. She was standing arms akimbo, looking at him like he had just developed two heads. He tried to boycott her, but she stood. It had completely escaped his mind that she was home. When he told her to leave before he arrived, he had known that she would never do such a thing. “Tinuke, it would be in your best interest to leave my front before I lose my patience”, he said, already losing his cool. “I, Tinuke Rogers, am not leaving this place. You can bring down heaven, I don’t care. Now I asked you a question. What is this piece of trash you are holding?” she sniffed her nose in a sigh of disgust. Ray was beside himself with fury. “Leave my front Tinu” he roared. She stood defiantly. Before she knew what was happening, Raymond used his leg to push her out of the way, making her fall to the ground forcefully. Ray marched inside, his feet pounding on the floor. The girl was unconscious. He could not fathom how she could still be alive after all these drama; he could not even guess how long she had been staying in that sack, out on the cold and muddy road. Bose, who had been watching the drama, ran ahead and opened the door of one of the rooms. Ray placed the girl on the bed very carefully. Having a mind of her own, Bose ran to get a bucket of warm water and a napkin. Ray stared at the girl, feeling pity for her. She was very small, and from her body size, he imagined her to be either seventeen or eighteen years old at most. He wondered what might have happened to her. From the cut at the side of her belly, he knew it had to be a knife cut. He swallowed hard. Bose arrived with a bucket of warm water and a cloth. She knelt down to begin wiping out the mud on the girl’s body but Ray stopped her. He collected the cloth from her, dipped it in the water and squeezed it dry. He wiped the face of the girl, removing part of the caked mud on her face. “Oga, you dey shake” Bose commented. Unlike all the other house helps he had come across, Bose was someone who says and does things without the fear of being sacked. She says whatever she wants to, whether you like it or not; as long as it is the truth. That notwithstanding, she holds Ray in high esteem. Ray had come to see Bose as a friend and a junior sister. “I am fine Bose, go and wait by the gate, Doctor T is coming”. Bose snorted and made no move to leave her position. “I am still your boss, Bose, do as I say” “Oga, if you no go remove your cloth, you go first this girl die”. She lamented. “Leave am, I go take care of am, go commot your cloth, abi madam body don tire you, you wan see another person body?” Ray stared at her for some seconds, feeling exasperated. There were many times he felt tempted to sack Bose but he hadn’t been able to bring himself to doing it. She was always there to talk to when Tinuke started her crazy tantrums. Knowing that an argument with Bose would be futile, he stood up. “be very careful, I think the wound is not too deep but she has lost a lot of blood. She must be really strong to still be alive now. Try to speak English; that is why I sent you to school”. Bose laughed. “I was expecting that” Ray shook his head and left the room. Bose lightened his mood the way even Tinuke couldn’t. Tinuke flashed back to his mind as he rushed back to his room. He still could not imagine that he had tossed her the way he did. It is not in his nature to hurt a lady. He felt bad that he had pushed her, even though she had provoked him. He did not have the courage to talk to her, he was ashamed of his action, even though he did not hit her. He entered the room and shed his clothes within the twinkle of an eye. Downing his night robe, he hurried to the gate to open the gate for the doctor who had been blaring his horn. He passed by Tinuke in the sitting room, who sat foaming in anger but did not even glance at her twice. A life is at stake. Doctor Tunde was not even out of his car when Bose literarily jumped out of the house, stuttering. She was pointing, jumping and screaming at the same time, fear written all over her tears stricken face. Without even hearing anything from her, Raymond raced inside, dragging the doctor along. He grew pale when he saw the girl jerking. Doctor T pressed her chest, trying to stabilize her. He pressed and pressed for some seconds, which looked like forever. He instantly knew that this sight would haunt his dreams for a long time. The girl became still and he closed his eyes. To say he was frightened would be an understatement. Bose held on to him, putting her face on his chest, shivering. He held her, knowing that this must be really terrifying for her too. “Tell me. She is not dead, is she?” he whispered, his eyes closed. He heard nothing apart from the voice of the sobbing girl in his arms. He opened his eyes slowly, his heart racing. “I never knew you to be this fearful. The girl lives, but she is very weak and may not survive. We need to take her to the hospital. The gadgets and machines in the hospital can help to a certain extent if she would survive this. She is stronger than she looks to be alive now. This cut is deep and she has lost so much blood” he said thoughtfully. Carefully removing Bose’s arms, Ray strode forward, his eyes fixed on the girl. She had the whitest skin he had ever seen. He had to admit that the mud and pain she was in is involved but that notwithstanding, she was still exceedingly fair. All these thoughts occurred within splita of seconds. He bent to carry her but the doctor stopped him, going over to carry her, applying less force and more care, as espected of a doctor. Bose ran to her room and grabbed one of her gowns. She hadn’t finished cleaning her up, not to mention change her clothes, when the girl started jerking wildly. She hadn’t seen a corpse before and right now, she was feeling llike she had just seen one, even though the girl is not dead. Rushing through the sitting room, Doctor Tunde stared unbelievably at Tinuke. How can someone be so heartless as to leave them alone to struggle with a girl’s life without showing the lowest level of care? Minding his business, he hurried past her to the car. Raymond ran to the room, picked his wallet and his ATM card, threw a shirt and a trouser over his body, then he ran out of the room. He had forgotten that Tinuke existed and seeing her in the sitting room, still foaming with anger, made his blood boil. “There are some times I am sad I proposed to you Tinu, but there are other times I am really, really sad that I ever had anything to do with you. How can you be so selfish and senseless as to shut your eyes against the girl in danger?” he asked bewildered. She jerked up. “To start with, you never asked for my help, instead, you asked for the help of your stupid maid. I could have helped, instead, what did you do? You pushed me away like a piece of thrash. You are not leaving this house until you apologise for what you did” she went to block the doorway again. Ray advanced towards her. “If you don’t leave my front now, I would forget my policy about not hitting a woman and hit you so hard that you would need the help of a doctor to recouperate.” The light burned in his eyes and she knew that he would do it without thinking twice. She left the doorway and he rushed out. He asked Bose to come along with them because he could not begin to imagine what Tinuke would do to the poor girl if she stays. Having her open the gate, he regretted not replacing his gateman. ********** ********** The anger in Fred’s eyes was deadly as he picked up the knife and started pursuing Luciana. They ran for some time, with Lucy ahead and Fred behind but as time went on, the gap between them became closer. Fear crept up Lucy’s face and she started increasing her speed even though she was already exhausted. Fred saw this and ran even faster, a devilish grin on his face. In her haste to escape with her life, Lucy ran carelessly, hitting her legs several times. She hit her leg on a big stone and toppled to the ground. She let out a cry of pain, looking around desperately in the darkness, trying to see if someone could help her, but found none. Fred towered over her, brandishing the knife in a frightening manner. Lucy looked at him with pleading eyes but he only smiled evilly, almost like he was possessed. With a shout of victory, he brought down the knife. *** Mrs Jones let out an ear-deafening scream, jerking from her lying position to a sitting position. Mr Jones jumped up in fright, as he heard his wife’s scream. “My baby, my baby…” she said continuously, as her husband wrapped his arms around her. She whimpered and shook with velocity. “What is it dear” “My baby, my Lucy, my baby” she said over and over again. “Calm down. It is just a dream.” He said to her. She left his arms. “it is not just a dream. Someone wants to kill my baby. I can feel it here” she pounded the left side of her chest. “When he was about to stab her with the knife, I woke up. Ken, I told you before we slept that I was feeling somehow, and now this; I know when God is giving me a sign. I am a mother” she almost yelled. Ken understood his wife perfectly. Her dreams are not to be taken likely at all because almost all of them turn out to be a reality, whether good or bad. He swallowed hard as he took his phone from the bedside table and dialed his daughhter’s number. Bewaji shivered and Ken drew her into his arms. The phone rang out and Ken released the breath he had been holding, but when the phone was not answered, he became worried. He dialed again and again but no answer came. Tears spilled over Bewaji’s face as she looked at her husband. The time was 1:35 am, and they would have assumed that she was too deep in her sleep to answer the call, if they hadn’t known her to be a very light sleeper. A slight movement beside Lucy is enough to rouse her from sleep. Guarding his own worries, Ken faced his wife. “Don’t jump to conclusions now BJ, kneel down and let us pray”. ********** ********** Tinuke roamed the sitting room of her fiance’s house thoughtfully. Ray had never raised his hands against her violently ever since she had known him but he had come very close to doing so today. He hadn’t done it but she knew that if she had pushed him, he would have hit her without thinking twice; and now he is out of the house, and who is with him? That blasted maid. She groaned. She had always wondered what was going on between Ray and Bose, considering their strange closeness. The girl almost has more say in the house than she herself. To assume that Ray would stoop so low as to get involved with a maid, is something she could not fathom. And who is that ragged girl they are all fussing over? She wondered. Whoever she is does not concern her as long as she does not interfere in her relationship with Ray; but she is already doing that now. As for Bose, she would be damned if she sat back and allowed a mere maid take her place in Ray’s heart. She picked her purse and car keys, left the house and headed for the hospital. She already knew where Doctor Tunde’s hospital was. ********** ********** Ray sat at the hospital reception of Hope Hospital, waiting for the doctor to come out. He was worried about the girl being attended to but what was giving him more stress was Tinuke. He wondered how he had gotten himself into such a mess. How was she able to hide this character? He wondered. She had been so cold-hearted that she did not even recognize their struggles in the house. He wondered if she would have showed some emotions if the girl had died. He sighed inwardly. Maybe his friends were right and they needed a break. Bose stared at her boss. He looked older than he should with the lines of worry on his head. She had never known a more handsome man than the one sitted in front of her but that fiancée of his is practically making his life miserable. She stood up and went to sit beside him. “It would be alright sir. You would get through this” she whispered. Ray looked at her. She always understood him. Was always there for him. “Thanks Bose” he said and held her to him. He heard the hospital door open and the next person he saw was Tinuke, standing at the hospital entrance. I could have helped, instead, what did you do? You pushed me away like a piece of thrash. You are not leaving this house until you apologise for what you did” she went to block the doorway again.\nRay advanced towards her. “If you don’t leave my front now, I would forget my policy about not hitting a woman and hit you so hard that you would need the help of a doctor to recouperate.”\nThe light burned in his eyes and she knew that he would do it without thinking twice. She left the doorway and he rushed out. He asked Bose to come along with them because he could not begin to imagine what Tinuke would do to the poor girl if she stays. Having her open the gate, he regretted not replacing his gateman.\n\n**********\n**********\nThe anger in Fred’s eyes was deadly as he picked up the knife and started pursuing Luciana. They ran for some time, with Lucy ahead and Fred behind but as time went on, the gap between them became closer. Fear crept up Lucy’s face and she started increasing her speed even though she was already exhausted. Fred saw this and ran even faster, a devilish grin on his face.\n\nIn her haste to escape with her life, Lucy ran carelessly, hitting her legs several times. With a shout of victory, he brought down the knife.\n\n***\n\nMrs Jones let out an ear-deafening scream, jerking from her lying position to a sitting position. Mr Jones jumped up in fright, as he heard his wife’s scream.\n“My baby, my baby…” she said continuously, as her husband wrapped his arms around her. She whimpered and shook with velocity.\n“What is it dear”\n“My baby, my Lucy, my baby” she said over and over again.\n“Calm down. It is just a dream.” He said to her.\nShe left his arms. “it is not just a dream. Someone wants to kill my baby. I can feel it here” she pounded the left side of her chest. “When he was about to stab her with the knife, I woke up. Ken, I told you before we slept that I was feeling somehow, and now this; I know when God is giving me a sign. I am a mother” she almost yelled.\nKen understood his wife perfectly. A slight movement beside Lucy is enough to rouse her from sleep.\nGuarding his own worries, Ken faced his wife. “Don’t jump to conclusions now BJ, kneel down and let us pray”.\n\n**********\n**********\nTinuke roamed the sitting room of her fiance’s house thoughtfully. Ray had never raised his hands against her violently ever since she had known him but he had come very close to doing so today. He hadn’t done it but she knew that if she had pushed him, he would have hit her without thinking twice; and now he is out of the house, and who is with him? That blasted maid.\n\nShe groaned. She already knew where Doctor Tunde’s hospital was.\n\n**********\n**********\nRay sat at the hospital reception of Hope Hospital, waiting for the doctor to come out. Maybe his friends were right and they needed a break.\n\nBose stared at her boss. Was always there for him.\n\n“Thanks Bose” he said and held her to him. He heard the hospital door open and the next person he saw was Tinuke, standing at the hospital entrance.\n\n\nTHANKS FOR READING; PLEASE, LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS.",
