| body | [](https://drops.linera.io/invite?code=JZMWLPXORN&ext_id=5oqo4TUSG) The challenges associated with building dApps aren't new anymore. Due to their decentralized nature, blockchains have two major issues: *throughput* and _latency_. Throughput is the maximum rate at which data can be written to a blockchain. It is the rate (transactions/second) at which chains can handle transactions. So if a network gets lots of traffic, there’s a tendency for low and medium-priority transactions (with respect to fees) to get stuck for minutes (or even hours). Users in a hurry then need to prop up additional transaction fees just to see their transactions go through sooner. Latency, in simple terms, is the speed at which transactions get confirmed. It's the time between the submission of a transaction and the time it gets confirmed on the blockchain. As blockchains get more traffic, throughput limitations become more obvious. This is a major challenge for traditional blockchains, where one has to trade cost for speed. [Linera](https://linera.io/) solves this…. and much more. So instead of mumbling every transaction into a single chain of blocks, Linera uses a multi-chain approach called [microchains](https://linera.io/news/microchains-in-linera). These are parallel chains running concurrently. Unlike the traditional single chain-of-blocks managed by miners (validators), users create and manage their blocks while validator nodes propagate the newest state of the chain across the network. The consensus architecture is achieved via the delegated proof of stake (DPoS) model. It's a platform for building dApps without the headaches of clogged network activities. This Layer-one project was founded by [Mathieu Baudet](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mathieu-baudet-a526b09/), a former Facebook Software Engineer and PhD holder in cryptographic protocols. The project has thus far raised $12 million in two seed funding rounds. The Project started its second [testnet phase](https://drops.linera.io/invite?code=JZMWLPXORN&ext_id=5oqo4TUSG) on April 17th, 2025 labelled [Babbege II](https://drops.linera.io/invite?code=JZMWLPXORN&ext_id=5oqo4TUSG). | title | Cytonic Network. |
| body | [Cytonic network](https://www.cytonic.com) is an initiative project in the blockchain space that targets challenges around blockchain interoperability and compatibility. Its developers refer to it as the world’s first multi-virtual-machine (multi-VM) layer 1 blockchain. Cytonic aims to unify networks like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana into a seamless decentralized execution layer. As fragmentation grows across multiple chains, developers and users face barriers that limit liquidity and scalability. Cytonic introduces a groundbreaking multi-VM blockchain capable of running Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) environments within a single network layer using shared storage. This allows seamless migration of projects from EVM or SVM chains without code rewrites, reducing transaction fees, enhancing capital efficiency, and making decentralized applications more user-friendly—a critical step toward mainstream blockchain adoption. **Team and Funding** The project was founded by [Ivan Miskovic](https://www.linkedin.com/in/misk0vic), a former executive at Spin Labs, who identified compatibility as a critical barrier to blockchain scalability. Miskovic is joined by [Chelsea Jiang](https://www.linkedin.com/in/chelsea-jiang-wbb2019), previously a partner at Foresight Ventures, and [Badconfig](https://x.com/badconfig_eth); a former senior engineer at Faraway. This trio brings a wealth of expertise from working on prominent blockchain ecosystems, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Near. On November 7th, 2024, Cytonic secured $8.3 million in a seed funding round co-led by Lattice and Lemniscap, with participation from notable investors such as IOBC, Nomura, Lyrik, Public Works, and Arthur Hayes. This capital is earmarked for expanding operations and advancing development efforts. Unlike traditional biotech or venture-backed tech startups, Cytonic’s funding reflects strong confidence from the Web3 investment community in its mission to bridge blockchain silos and unlock new opportunities. **[Testnet campaign](https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOFX)** [](https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOFX) As at the time of this writeup, the project is in its testnet phase, which was announced on it’s [X handle](https://x.com/cytonic_com/status/1894655057049629123) on the 26th of February 2025. Participation is done by joining the campaign with an EVM/SVM wallet and completing various tasks to earn energy. [](https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOFX) _Energy_ is the primary currency used during the airdrop campaign. It is earned based on the deposited value on any supported chain and accumulates continuously, with updates occurring approximately every hour. Energy can also be earned by completing achievements and claiming associated rewards. _Flames_ is the currency that will be used later for token distribution. It is typically earned by opening chests or receiving lottery rewards. Accrued energy can be used to pay for chests, which are in turn used to generate flames. Energy can also be accrued hourly. Each chest requires specific charged-up energy, which is directly correlated to the amount of energy deposited. Users get a 0.05 Energy per vested dollar per week, which can be withdrawn after 5 days of deposit. At the moment token generation event (TGE) is yet to be announced however, there would be no vesting of airdropped tokens at TGE. 25% of the total token supply goes to contributors and will be distributed in multiple stages. | title | Cytonic Network |
| body | [Cytonic network](https://www.cytonic.com) is an initiative project in the blockchain space that targets challenges around blockchain interoperability and compatibility. **[Testnet campaign](https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOFX)** <a href="https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOF)"><img src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CFXops_yZyg9SMcHeCtzpUb5APSMbkT7/view?usp=drive_link"/></a> As at the time of this writeup, the project is in its testnet phase, which was announced on it’s [X handle](https://x.com/cytonic_com/status/1894655057049629123) on the 26th of February 2025. Participation is done by joining the campaign with an EVM/SVM wallet and completing various tasks to earn energy. <a href="https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOFX"><img src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-NTATYFL1dJXBvJC-wrevh5XmegkSosl/view?usp=drive_link"/></a> _Energy_ is the primary currency used during the airdrop campaign. Join the testnet [here](https://app.cytonic.com/deposit?referral=JOSSYOFX). |

| title | Traveling and Tourism; My thoughts |
| body | Traveling to most people, especially those dedicated to a spartan life due to religious or cultural affiliations see traveling and tourism as nothing but pleasure. They consider it a consumerist propaganda, a way to hoop around instead of focusing on work and other more productive engagements. This is obviously is a weak clamor and is almost certainly false. While it might be true some tourists use travel as a means to elude responsibilities and to satisfy their "ill-founded Luddite hysteria", traveling and tourism is educative. This claim isn't far fetched as we don't need to do so many google searches to discover this fact. Just look around. Consider the people around you who have traveled and lived in different part of the world, you'll notice one common trait: they all appear to be enlightened. And nope I'm not only referring to pure academic achievements but also to basic human relationships, communication, social engagements, tolerance, confidence and so on. Yes pleasure is another component of the experience but come to think of it, is life just about sitting in your local community with your people and never getting to know how other tribes, races, religions and cultures interact? Traveling does build confidence. Meeting and interacting with people of different races, economic and educational strata also builds your self esteem. Another merit of traveling is it aids self Discovery. You get to truly know yourself when you're presented with different situations of life whether pleasant or unpleasant. Until faced with demanding situations you might never discover your locked in strengths and weaknesses. As you tour your likely to get into some of these situations, some life threatening. In summary, traveling and touring builds you physically, academically and physiologically, while still having fun. |

| title | My Experience at the Andela Learning Community 2.0 |
| body | Just to crave your indulgence, [Andela](https://andela.com) Learner's Community (famously known as ALC) is a platform somewhat similar to edx, coursera and blockgeeks where anyone anywhere can build software development skill set(s). Well that isn't explicitly true because they are currently tapping into the untapped Africa's potentials, breeding them and connecting them to the world. This is so important because it takes off the barrier to entry for the under privileged knowledge seeks. A potential student might not have the wherewithal (financial or academic) to compete for a sit in the mathematics, philosophy or computer science class at Harvard or MIT but has the opportunity of getting certificates in similar courses offered at those institutes or designed by firms like Google and Microsoft. Such was the case of the recently concluded Software Developers Training by Andela sponsored by google and Microsoft. The programme captured three careers; "tracks" as they are called: Android Development, Web and Product Design. Actually Andela is different. The American firm which kicked off in 2014 doesn't just provide prospective developers with the learning window, they check up on you to make sure you keeping through to your initial commitments when you signed up. With the technology-related human resource deficit Africa has, the role the firm plays can't be over-emphasized. While others merely throw courses at you, Andela sort of follows you up with it's facilitators, Community Mentors and Code reviewers depending on the competence level (beginner or intermediate). Goals in form of projects are assigned to you which you are expected to complete within certain time frame. Going further the program altogether provides you with a career roadmap. Getting to see weird lines of code for the first time is certainly intimidating for a newbie. It was for me but the Institute couldn't have pick a better course. The Udacity online curriculum was excellently delivered. __It wasn't all about knowledge.__ Another major factor which inspires learning is getting to see folks who have passed your path _changing-the-world_. For me this is the best motivation possible. We got to meet one of the country's top Kotlin dev, [Anthony](https://twitter.com/tonialaribe) and a few others. From the ALC 2.0 I also learnt something experientially, and it's that the _difference between a master and a mediocre is_ ___consistency___. This doesn't sound strange but it's evident how often people soon give up on challenging tasks. By merely asking _the right questions_, you'll be overwhelmed by the number of people on the net who have faced similar challenge. Indeed, the only two responses you might not be comfortable with are "_where we (the human race) are coming from and where we are going_ :-). Another pressing issue we devs tend to face when walking into the craft is what language to start with. Currently there are as many programming languages as the number of states in the USA (if not more). I came to understand that being excellent at one could make learning the next quite easy. So instead of hopping around due to "covetous instincts", settling down with one and being great at it would pay off better. So in summary ALC2.0 was worthwhile. P.S. Big thumbs up to #Andela, #Google and #Microsoft for the splendid opportunity. Bigger thumbs up the Two of the country's most proficient Android developers; [Femi](https://twitter.com/femicodes) and [King Idee](https://twitter.com/kingidee). |

| title | Could Layer Two Solutions undermine Bitcoin's security in future? |
| body | Just as security personnels secure valuables in banks and arena's housing precious objects, Bitcoin has it's own security mechanism; mining ( [here](https://bitcoinmagazine.com/guides/what-bitcoin-mining/) for details). This process secures the network against Sybil as well a double spend attacks. In the process, much electrical energy is expended, however, miners are are incentivised to carryout the process. Currently, 12.5 bitcoin is the reward for the node who finds the difficulty target first. Transacting nodes on the network also pay a certain amount as fees to the miner of the block the transaction falls into. Currently, the total block transaction fees is about a third of the block reward. This is currently due to a clog in the network which results in competition to have one's transaction confirmed soon enough. <p></p> https://steemitimages.com/DQmUoXKto89z4fTDjjRBxhEy5qrbesQKcyZ9xLerLGz7noT/CUSTOM%20BTC.png This is where second layer solutions come in. Some worth similar to the data layer in the OSI model, which takes care of data flow, [The Lightning Network](https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7npeh6/lightning_network_megathread/), [Schnorr signature](https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Schnorr), Mimble Wimble, [Tumblebit](http://cs-people.bu.edu/heilman/tumblebit/),... are solutions on top of the Bitcoin Network used to manage data. The closest we have now is the Lightning Network. The success of this project would see most transactions go off-chain resulting in more breathing (transacting) space. With even more data management solutions coming on board, miners are likely to earn less from transaction fees which would become the main compensation for securing the network in future with the decline in block reward. This could result in reduction in harsh power and increased vulnerability. It's certainly a trade off of <b>convenience</b> for <b>security</b>. P.S. <i>Happy Bitcoin Day!</i> |

"body": "Just as security personnels secure valuables in banks and arena's housing precious objects, Bitcoin has it's own security mechanism; mining ( [here](https://bitcoinmagazine.com/guides/what-bitcoin-mining/) for details). \n<p></p>\nhttps://steemitimages.com/DQmUoXKto89z4fTDjjRBxhEy5qrbesQKcyZ9xLerLGz7noT/CUSTOM%20BTC.png\n\nThis is where second layer solutions come in. The success of this project would see most transactions go off-chain resulting in more breathing (transacting) space.\n\nWith even more data management solutions coming on board, miners are likely to earn less from transaction fees which would become the main compensation for securing the network in future with the decline in block reward. This could result in reduction in harsh power and increased vulnerability. It's certainly a trade off of <b>convenience</b> for <b>security</b>.\n\n\nP.S. <i>Happy Bitcoin Day!</i>",

| title | In Response to genius John C. Bogle (Another Bitcoin pessimist) |
| body | In recent years, the success of cryptographically secured digital assets, Bitcoin in particular has had to grapple with more enlightened skeptics who in general might be consider mere _critic thinkers_. Noble price award winner Prof. Robert Schuller called Bitcoin the best example of a bubble, no one can be sure how long he would be wrong. Other renowned skeptics include Warren Buffet, Jimie Dimon, CEO at J.P. Morgan chase, and most recently Jack Bogle. Of cause you can’t under estimate the knowledge wealth these guys have amassed from studying and experience. Jack Bogle in November, 2017 said; <blockquote cite="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-28/vanguard-founder-jack-bogle-says-avoid-bitcoin-like-the-plague">Bitcoin has no underlying rate of return. You know bonds have an interest coupon, stocks have earnings and dividends, gold has nothing. There is nothing to support bitcoin except the hope that you will sell it to someone for more than you paid for it.</blockquote> This statement depicts Bitcoin like most other cryptographically secured currencies/assets has no intrinsic value. I'll love to start my argument from the ground-up, from the time period we started having nationally organised economic systems. <h2>FROM ASSET TO IDEA</h2> The first and second world wars were the greatest man-made plagues we've seen thus far in human history but they left us with a fundamental lesson we've never seem to grasp in our 6 thousand years monetary history. We were still recovering from the devastating impact of World War I, then came World War II. Economists estimated it to be the most expensive and economically unsustainable event in human history. Everyone was buying stuff from the U.S. (with gold) to front the war and so the Unites States enjoyed a staggering trade surplus. The U.S. then was still on the gold standard which every other country had dumped during World War I. It’s 1944, the war is over. Nations had to meet to resolve many issues especially regarding foreign trade. This was called the Bretton wood conference. The resolutions of the meetup was simply. Since the United states was still on th gold standard and countries where too devastated to come back to the gold standard, every nation should the peg her currency to the U.S. Dollar. This led to the Dollar becoming the global reserve currency. As other nation’s recovered from the war and their currencies began gaining value, the US dollar become so valued. This value didn’t last though as the U.S. got involved in debt due to the war in Vietnam and also balance of payment concerns. In early August, 1971 Charles De Gaulle (the then French president) cashed in France's U.S. Dollar holding at the New York Federal Reserve Bank bringing back French gold. Other Nations soon followed suite. Everyone cashing in their Dollar for gold. The U.S. was already in an economic recession, Nations now dumping the US Dollar would only worsen the situation. So U.S. President Nixon in August 15, 1971 took the U.S. of the Gold standard. This simply meant no one could redeem US Dollar for gold. So the almighty United States Dollars was now pegged to __nothing__ but the free market. Seeing the turn of event’s other Nations just remained on the U.S. Dollar standard it had been since Bretton wood. Today every other United Nation’s currency is redeemable for a certain amount of United States Dollar. This had it’s down sides as well. The gold standard was able to tame irresponsible expenses; trade and budget deficits. The United States for instance now lives way beyond its means through annual trade and budget deficits, piling to a nation debt of over $20 Trillion dollars. Infact there’s a live feed of US National debt [here]( https://www.nationaldebtclocks.org/debtclock/unitedstates). Well, the power of value creation wasn't really left to the free markets per say, it was left to the banks. Many people don't realise but the fact is the banks (private banks) create more money through interest rates than central banks. Of cause the repercussion was six recessions in the U.S. since Nixon dumped the gold standard. History is simply repeating itself but this time we are truly leaving the fiat standard or the _bank_ standard in my opinion and truly according value to the _free market_. <h2>VALUATION METHODOLOGY</h2>Dumping of the gold standard by Nixon was the break down of an international treaty but a breakthrough in our ideology of value. The fact that value can be derived from _use case_ and not necessarily a _tangible commodity_ was a leap in the right direction in our valuation methodology. Value is simple what we all agree it is whether effort was put into it or not. The United states dollar is just piece of paper with numbers written on it but is redeemable for global currencies. Of cause we know those notes were produced with almost zero marginal cost unlike the cost and effort it took to mine gold. 88 year old [genius](https://medium.com/the-billfold/some-guy-youve-never-heard-of-has-saved-us-all-billions-of-dollars-8ea855423ba1) Jack Bogle is still living in the days of the gold standard. For the first time in the human history, we are taking away the power to create value from the banks and leaving it to the free market. The above series of event in world history has thought us one fundamental lesson; __money is an idea not a “thing”__. What gave gold it's value was the fact that it was scare and required so much resource to acquire and not necessarily because we could eat it. Gold's value is extrinsic. This is so similar to Bitcoin. As at the write up of this article, it’s taking 13,286,097,755 GH/s of computing power to mint 12.5 bitcoins. That harsh power using the US standard electricity bill of 12 cents per KWh would be $5.2 million daily (_I stand to be corrected_). This doesn't include the cost of the equipment. This in my humble opinion is value. In summary, no medium of exchange from gold to fiat had any sort of intrinsic value. Fiat and Gold's supply can't be tamed. Bitcoin's supply is controlled and isn't subject to political affiliation or sentiments. __The code is the LAW__. |
