Right at the beginning of the year, we saw the escalation of tensions between Iran and the United States which led to rumours of an upcoming war; the United States impeachment trial sprang into full throttle; Brexit and now the Coronavirus pandemic.\n\n2020 is as good as cancelled for most people.\n\nCountries around the world are rolling out wartime-like emergency measures to fight COVID-19. The IMF has already said that the world is facing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. With millions of people losing jobs since this novel pandemic began, many are left wondering how the global economy recover? On top of that, economic experts concur that the global economy is likely to further contract by 3% this year as countries around the world shrink at the fastest pace in decades.\n\n**Increased Worldwide Demand of Gold**\n\nGold has been traditionally regarded as an eternal measure of value since times immemorial. Gold still remains an acceptable yardstick of wealth that layers any world’s powerhouse foundations, leverage that caused wars and changed the global political landscape throughout the ages.\n\nFast-forward to today; the COVID-19 global pandemic is proving to be the black swan event of all black swan events.\n\nInvestors have been clamouring for the safe investment havens amid the recent market downturn and it looks like the U.S dollar has been the king of the global foreign exchange markets. But gold is actually outperforming against the greenback. According to Bloomberg data, this year gold has risen by 5.3%. It may even go higher.\n\nGold has been in short supply recently because it’s usually shipped on commercial flights whose movement has been curtailed recently due to border and airspace closures worldwide.\n\nIt seems like its not only individual and institutional investors that have been driving the demand for gold upwards. In December 2019, Russia’s Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said his country could consider investing part of its National Wealth Fund in gold as the country strongly regards investment in gold as more sustainable in the long-term compared to investing in financial assets.\n\nAs the US Congress explores a $2 Trillion Economic Stimulus Package as well as various stimulus packages being announced worldwide, I am reminded of Goethe’s 1831 drama Faust. In the drama, the devil convinces a struggling emperor to print and spend vast quantities of fiat currency as a short-term fix for his country’s fiscal problems. As a result, the empire ultimately falls and descends into chaos.\n\nIn the near future, If we happen to face a systemic banking system financial crisis due to coronavirus, gold will do incredibly well, mainly because of the fact that gold is outside the traditional fiat currency fractional reserve banking system. If there is global debt deflation, gold will do extremely well.\n\n**Gold-backed Crypto Tokens: The Alternative**\n\nThe market is currently experiencing an increase in demand for physical gold fueled by sourcing supply chain issues.AS a result, the precious metal has increased in price per ounce. For most investors, bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have become the safe-haven-of-choice. Despite being highly volatile, cryptocurrencies are also highly liquid, easy to access, and easy to store. Gold is a fully fungible asset and a globally recognized store of value, this makes the precious metal an ideal candidate for tokenization.\n\nAt the same time, in the digital asset market, there is a big demand for the secure storage of value. Your return from the investment might be a lump sum but there is also a certain degree of risk involved as the advisors can also make mistakes or fail to see market risk. So you receive just a fraction of the money from the investment. \n\nEven in the event of the shares market, how many of us directly hold shares of companies?  In most cases, we have very little to no say in where our money gets invested and how it is handled by these corporations – meaning there’s a lack of transparency present. All the issues arise because of the centralization of the finance that underpins the global economy, but it is not an open system. How do you tell that you have found the right one to suit your needs? \n\nI recently came across <a href=\"https://NewsCrypto.io\">NewsCrypto.io</a>, an informational and trading platform that is said to be the best in the dissemination and osmosis of information, news, analytics and trading within the cryptocurrency and blockchain setup. Does the Newscrypto.io platform really live up to its billing?\n\nOver the past month, I have been using the platform in the full access mode(Advanced Tier) -  testing and going through all the available information and data to gain a wholesome user experience in order to come up with an informed conclusion as to whether NewsCrypto.io is a legitimate platform or not.\n\n**What are the important factors to consider in choosing the best crypto informational and trading platform?**\n\n*Quality of coin/token charts and indicators* - This helps you analyse market supply and demands trends as well as the historical performance of the asset in question.\n\n*Ability to trade directly from the platform/charts*  -  So that you can quickly and effectively take advantage of the everchanging market positions which can rise or plummet in a matter of seconds.\n\n*Cost*  -  The cost of trading including platform access fees and transactions fees determine whether it is viable to profitably use a platform or not.\n\n*Platform availability option*  - I n a world that is increasingly moving towards mobile-based platforms, users tend to prefer platforms that afford them the option to access them via mobile phones, laptops etc.\n\n**Review of NewsCrypto.io in a nutshell**\n*Pros*\n- The platform offers real-time News updates linked to <a href=\"https://cryptopanic.com/\">cryptopanic </a> \n- Easy to sign-in /register\n- Tools available are easy to set-up and understand both to the newbie user as well as to the most advanced trader.\n- Global real-time exchange data is readily available \n- The Crypto School offering a well rounded educational experience is a well thought out idea that was brilliantly executed.\n- NewsCrypto provides a forum where users can meet and interact.\n- Fairly priced: at the time of writing this article, the beginner tier is being offered for free, the intermediate tier is priced at 50 NWC (approx $1.65 USD according to<a href=\"https://www.probit.com/app/exchange/NWC-BTC\">Probit Exchange </a> one of the exchanges where NWC is listed) while the Advanced Tier is priced at 100 NWC (approx $3.30 USD).\n\n*Cons*\n- The platform is still in beta mode meaning that some of its key features such as trading and mining are not yet available.\n- The NewsCrypto.io platform is still fairly new meaning that it hasn't been fully tested against a huger userbase to fully come to a conclusion.\n\n\n\n **An In-depth Review**\n\n**The Good**\n*Charts * -  Charts are found under the beginner tier which is available to all traders for free. This portal helps in tracking coin/token prices and the feed is updated per second. At the time of writing this article only the BTC/USD charts were available and were accurate. I am looking forward to other coins being added as this will go a long way. Another interesting feature found under this tab is the upload prediction option where a trader can upload their own charts to the platform for future reference purposes.\n\n*Coin Calendar * -  A highly informational calendar is also found under the beginner tier featuring a bevvy of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) projects be it those that are currently being held, past ones, upcoming ones in the future as well as other related fundraising information.\n\n*Inflow Indicator*  -  Showing actual Deposits and withdrawals done in fiat. This information includes figures of how much money has left crypto through fiat withdrawals and how much is flowing in. The trades are imported from various exchanges such as Binance, Kraken, HitBTC etc.\n\n\n**The Great**\n*News Feed*  -  News on the platform is updated to the minute and is drawn from a wide range of sources thereby bringing balance, diversity while at the same time eliminating bias. The newsfeed offers an option for the user to flawlessly move the discussion on a chosen news item to cryptopanic for better understanding. News is offered for free.\nThe Newscrypto School - Also offered for free to all users is a wide range of short yet powerful lessons delivered in a simple, easy to understand fashion.\n\n*Arbitrage*  -  This is my favourite feature of the NewsCrypto.io platform. It provides leads to markets where a user can make a profit by buying/selling from and doing the opposite in another at a profit. This gives the traders using the NewsCrypto platform an edge over their peers in the market as these arbitrage leads are readily available for Intermediate and Advanced tiers users and the potential percentage gain from each trade coin pair and exchange are already calculated.\n\n*sentiment * -  Found under intermediate tier, sentiment gives a technical analysis of which coins to buy, sell or to 'stay away from' based on their overall performance on the market on a minute to minute basis.\n\n*Whale alert*  -   this indicator monitors all major cryptocurrency markets for big buyers and sellers. It offers the user the option to set their preferred parameters to coins of their interests and in turn, they get real-time notifications allowing them to make moves paired to those of market whales. The platform outperformed my expectations in most cases.\nI was overly impressed by the arbitrage option found under the Intermediate Tier as I got useful leads on which coin trading pairs I could take advantage of and make a reasonable profit.
