| body | I've been living in Tokyo pursuing filmmaking for the past five years. My grand plans are to provide video content about Tokyo, Japan where I currently live, as well as share some of the fiction short films that I've written and directed in my time here in Tokyo. I've made a few Japanese-language short films that have made it to film festivals and I am planning to post my films up on Dtube as well as post some scripts and short film ideas in blog form with the hopes of reaching out and hearing from other like-minded creatives. This'll be up exclusively on Dtube for the two weeks following upload date :) Hope you enjoy. \n\nBackground: \n\nLearned By Doing.\n\nThis was my first professionally shot short film after countless years of making cheap Casio camera-made shorts (which I'll also take the liberty of uploading at a later date). This was actually written in 2012 and although it underwent a few superficial script alterations, remained largely the unchanged. Meaning I should have shot it much earlier. The one lesson that I learned from this was not to wait. Even if you don't feel you're entirely prepared for such a mammoth leap you should take it anyway - you'll learn about your craft quicker, you'll learn about how you work with others and you will have some work under your belt sooner rather than later. \n\nNot to say that the shoot didn't have its difficulties. Prepping this by myself was a Herculean effort by my own as yet untested standards. I managed to find a great Airbnb apartment that the owners kindly rented out to us - thank you Frode and Naomi! The crew members who I will list below were wonderfully collaborative and supportive over the two-day shoot but took a while to come together. And the various props, namely the box were a hassle. I have zero talent, capacity, wherewithal whatever its called, for arts and crafts, so this necessary foray into DIY was a peculiar nuisance. I had to scour the internet of Japan to find the right size box for the actress, of which there wasn't and so ended up having to cut and attach two boxes together, paint it white, stencil a logo - I failed to adequately accomplish some of these things and its clear in one of the first scenes. We had to find a way of cutting around it to avoid revealing too much of my shoddily painted box. Another lesson, always ask for help with things you aren't great at. Even and perhaps especially if you are obliged to pay them. Their expertise will elevate the work. \n\nNevertheless, I don't think I'll ever have as much fun on a film set as I did on those two days. It was as exhausting as it was exhilarating to work in the charged maelstrom of a film-set with other talented young people. But really it was the combination of relief and elation at seeing the years-long ideas I had noiselessly hoarded finally materialize on a monitor and on occasion, exceed expectation, that was really special. It's an experience I will never forget. And it impelled me to never again wait another four years to film a finished script. \n\nSynopsis: \nHiro, a shy, jaded salary worker, purchases a robot maid to keep him company. And it impelled me to never again wait another four years to film a finished script. \\n\\nSynopsis: \\nHiro, a shy, jaded salary worker, purchases a robot maid to keep him company. | body | Hello taserdre31! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you: 1. **Keep your passwords safe:** Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure. 2. **Get Steem rewards:** When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more. 3. **Upvote wisely:** When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power. 4. **Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power:** Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes. 5. **Have Fun and Enjoy!** _For a detailed writeup, check our post [Getting Started: 5 Essential Tips for New Users](https://steemit.com/@steemsociety/getting-started-5-essential-tips-for-new-users)._ Good luck on your Steem journey! Follow us if you like to receive more helpful tips and maximize your Steemit experience. |

Learned By Doing. This was my first professionally shot short film after countless years of making cheap Casio camera-made shorts (which I'll also take the liberty of uploading at a later date). Not to say that the shoot didn't have its difficulties. Nevertheless, I don't think I'll ever have as much fun on a film set as I did on those two days. Synopsis: Hiro, a shy, jaded salary worker, purchases a robot maid to keep him company. The robot at first injects some fun and comfort into his lonely existence but soon the lack of a human element only serves to isolate him further. Cast: CRM2.0: Shuna Iijima, Hiro: Yasuhiro Ito, Hinako: Mayumi Yamamoto Crew: Camera: David Allen, Sound: Edan Mason, Line Producer: Mio Sekiguchi, Music: Tristan De Leige, Casting: Eiji Leon Lee, Assistant Camera: Adam Taylor, Editor & Colorist: Andreas Kuhn, Assistant Director: Hanae Dessemond. It's an experience I will never forget. And it impelled me to never again wait another four years to film a finished script. \n\nSynopsis: \nHiro, a shy, jaded salary worker, purchases a robot maid to keep him company. Learned By Doing. This was my first professionally shot short film after countless years of making cheap Casio camera-made shorts (which I'll also take the liberty of uploading at a later date). Not to say that the shoot didn't have its difficulties. Nevertheless, I don't think I'll ever have as much fun on a film set as I did on those two days. Synopsis: Hiro, a shy, jaded salary worker, purchases a robot maid to keep him company. The robot at first injects some fun and comfort into his lonely existence but soon the lack of a human element only serves to isolate him further. | body | Dear Steem (Steemit?, Steemasphere?), I'm Kenjo McCurtain. I'm here on Steemit now. It seems like a lovely place. It's all been very user-friendly after that third-party crypto detour that made me go all blurry-eyed and dehydrated. It's entirely my fault. I'm probably the least digi-savvie person to have stumbled into Steemit. Anyway, the short story on my awkward name is my Japanese and Irish ancestry, however I'm originally from England, and if I've grasped the concept correctly, that makes me a third culture kid as well as a polite and punctual alcoholic. I've been living in Tokyo pursuing filmmaking for the past five years. As of the moment, whenever I have the will not default to procrastination, I've been working on a script for a Japanese TV pilot and a graphic novel about a teenage werewolf in Hokkaido. I've not been commissioned for either, and I am not quite sure how they'll turn out, but one must try. I hope some of you get a chance to see some of it (unfinished front cover image conveniently attached below) Looking forward to communicating and potentially collaborating with some of you. Have a splendid day :) Kenjo Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kenjo.mccurtain Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_loveliest_alarm/?hl=en |
