The goal is not to come to any kind of conclusion about one party or viewpoint being the correct one, but merely to stimulated the flow of ideas and conversation through an open dialogue. We expect our contributors to be civil and respectful, but beyond that we do not censor any opposing views and opinions that may come up.\n\nIn this discussion, we delve into the subject of trans rights, in particular having to do with the POTUS's recent announcement of an impending ban on trans people joining the military. Trans issues have become more and more of a hot topic in socio-political debates over the past few years, and the questions that arise are sensitive ones for people on both sides of the debate. Is our society suppressing genuine self-expression by not accepting trans people the way they choose to be identified? Is imposing new gender pronouns by law another form of suppression in itself? Is being transgender or transexual a natural impulse that should be celebrated? Or is it a form of mental illness that should be treated as some kind of body dysmorphia? These are questions that no one has all the answers to, and maybe never will, but it is up to all of us as a collective to come to terms with trans issues and what it reflects about our deeper understanding of sex and sexuality as we move into a future that will hopefully be defined by freedom and truth for all people.
