bodyImagine a star made of matter so dense that enough to go into a matchbox would weigh 10,000 million tons. If a rocket is to escape from Earth's gravity, it needs to reach a speed of about 25,000mph. But the gravity of this star would be so enormous that there would be no escaping from it even at 670,000,000mph - about the speed of light Indeed light itself would not be able to escape, making the star forever invisible. Such stars are believed to exist in the Universe. As light cannot leave them, no one has ever seen one, but astronomers have good reasons to suppose they are there. They are called black holes. ![black-hole1.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmcczkuWcQkK9uU353DUXkL7ufscHMdNo7MDj58acNBxSw/black-hole1.jpg) One of the first clues to their existence came from the odd behavious of a star called Epilson Aurigae, a giant 60,000 times as bright as the sun. Once every 27 years this star fades to less than half its usual brilliance. An Invisible Partner Scientists know that Epilson Aurigae has a partner, which swings with it round a common centre of gravity. The fading was presumably caused by the partner getting in the way of the view from Earth. But why, in that case, does the partner emit neither light rays nor radio waves like other stars. The answer seems to be that the partner is a black hole - invisible , small but enormously heavy. Scientists are able to explain how a black hole could be created. The heat of the stars like the Sun comes from continuous nuclear fusion - the process that goes on in the hydrogen bomb. After thousands of millions of years, the store of nuclear fuel in the star begins to be exhausted. Then the star cools down and eventually implodes - that is, collapses inwards in a matter of seconds, with terrible violence. A White Dwarf The Sun will do this in about 8000 million years. It will end up as a small cool object called a White Dwarf. But the forces of gravity in stars 1½ times the size of the sun are much stronger. When they implode they squeeze smaller than White Dwarfs, until the centre becomes so hot that it explodes outwards . The exceptionally bright mass which results is known as the Supernova. When this happens a tiny part of the star remains at the centre, fantastically compressed by gravity. This is known as a Neutron Star. But there are much larger stars some as much as 50 times the size of the sun. When one of these collapses it will contract even smaller than the neutron star. If it is only two thirds the size of a neutron star, the gravitational pull would be so strong that nothing could withstand it.![interstellar-accretion-disk-2017-04-18-01.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmZnGCo2JipkHfWSzb4UXdfbdXmEnp3V71wdJQ13iCocB4/interstellar-accretion-disk-2017-04-18-01.jpg) Not even light could escape and even if the star was white hot nothing could be seen. For this reason the phenomenon is called a black hole. Compared with the vastness of other objects in the Universe, black holes are tiny. For example, a collapsed star ten times bigger than the Sun would be compressed into a black hole less than 40 miles across. And because they emit neither light nor radio waves, astronomers can only speculate about their presence by the behaviour of neighbours under their influence. But if nothing - not even light - can escape from a black hole, how do we know where it is? A black hole exerts gravitational force, so the secret is to look for a star in the heavens that is in orbit around an invisible companion star. The likeliest candidate is in the constellation of Cygnus, and is know as Cygnus X-1. According to Professor Stephen Hawking the British Physicist, by 1989 it was '95 percent certain' that Cygnus X-1 contained a black hole. Having so enormous a force of gravity, black holes suck into themselves any matter that comes into their part of the heavens. One theory has it that they will eventually suck up everything in the entire universe. Once it gets closer to the black hole matter becomes invisible, entering what is called the 'Event Horizon'. There is a limit to the pull even of black hole gravity and there must come a point of where light can neither escape nor be pulled back. On this 'event horizon' light would stand still or move very slowly. An Immortal Spaceman This raises the fascinating possibility that light images on the 'event horizon' would go on being seen more or less forever. For instance, if an Astronaut headed for a black hole, he might still be seen going through the 'event horizon' for million of years afterwards. However the prospects of any man landing on a black hole are small indeed. Closing in on the 'event horizon', those parts of his spacecraft or his body nearer to the black hole would receive more pull from the gravit. The results would be to stretch him out into a streak many miles long, while the compression reduced his volume. If the spaceman was able to observe a clock far away from the black hole, the hands would appear to move faster as he approached the 'event horizon' until he was unable to see them. As he went through the 'event horizon' the hands would reverse, start slowing down and he would appear to be going backwards in time, though the time as measured by a watch on his wrist would not change. Once through the 'event horizon' the spaceman would be unable to escape. In fact the harder he tried to avoid his fate, the faster he would meet it, since the energy expended in the attempt would produce increased mass & hence increased gravitational attraction. As the spaceman approached closer to the black hole, he and his spacecraft would be torn to shreds. Backwards through another Universe One mind boggling theory is that if a man ever did enter a black hole and avoid destruction, he might find himself in another universe travelling backwards in time. This idea is based on the way in which black holes seem to behave like the rest of the Universe only in reverse. For while the Universe is continually exploding outwards a black hole is forever imploding, or turning in on itself. And while Science can explain matter compressed into an astonishingly dense pinprick, it cannot account for matter disappearing absolutely. According to some theories, man could use a black hole to produce energy for his own purposes by directing matter towards it and storing the gravitational energy sent out by the black hole as it sucks the matter in. It would thus be used as a sort of cosmic garbage can, giving out energy for any unwanted rubbish thrown in. While other scientist still dispute the very existence of black holes, one thing is certain - they are one of the most intriguing concepts about the Universe. "body": "Imagine a star made of matter so dense that enough to go into a matchbox would weigh 10,000 million tons. If a rocket is to escape from Earth's gravity, it needs to reach a speed of about 25,000mph. But the gravity of this star would be so enormous that there would be no escaping from it even at 670,000,000mph - about the speed of light \n\nIndeed light itself would not be able to escape, making the star forever invisible. Such stars are believed to exist in the Universe. As light cannot leave them, no one has ever seen one, but astronomers have good reasons to suppose they are there. They are called black holes. \n![black-hole1.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmcczkuWcQkK9uU353DUXkL7ufscHMdNo7MDj58acNBxSw/black-hole1.jpg)\n\nOne of the first clues to their existence came from the odd behavious of a star called Epilson Aurigae, a giant 60,000 times as bright as the sun. Once every 27 years this star fades to less than half its usual brilliance. \n\nAn Invisible Partner\nScientists know that Epilson Aurigae has a partner, which swings with it round a common centre of gravity. The fading was presumably caused by the partner getting in the way of the view from Earth. But why, in that case, does the partner emit neither light rays nor radio waves like other stars.\n \nThe answer seems to be that the partner is a black hole - invisible , small but enormously heavy. \n\nScientists are able to explain how a black hole could be created. The heat of the stars like the Sun comes from continuous nuclear fusion - the process that goes on in the hydrogen bomb. After thousands of millions of years, the store of nuclear fuel in the star begins to be exhausted. Then the star cools down and eventually implodes - that is, collapses inwards in a matter of seconds, with terrible violence.\n\nA White Dwarf\nThe Sun will do this in about 8000 million years. It will end up as a small cool object called a White Dwarf. But the forces of gravity in stars 1½ times the size of the sun are much stronger. When they implode they squeeze smaller than White Dwarfs, until the centre becomes so hot that it explodes outwards . The exceptionally bright mass which results is known as the Supernova.\n\nWhen this happens a tiny part of the star remains at the centre, fantastically compressed by gravity. This is known as a Neutron Star. But there are much larger stars some as much as 50 times the size of the sun. When one of these collapses it will contract even smaller than the neutron star. If it is only two thirds the size of a neutron star, the gravitational pull would be so strong that nothing could withstand it.![interstellar-accretion-disk-2017-04-18-01.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmZnGCo2JipkHfWSzb4UXdfbdXmEnp3V71wdJQ13iCocB4/interstellar-accretion-disk-2017-04-18-01.jpg)\n\nNot even light could escape and even if the star was white hot nothing could be seen. For this reason the phenomenon is called a black hole.\n\nCompared with the vastness of other objects in the Universe, black holes are tiny. For example, a collapsed star ten times bigger than the Sun would be compressed into a black hole less than 40 miles across. And because they emit neither light nor radio waves, astronomers can only speculate about their presence by the behaviour of neighbours under their influence. \n\nBut if nothing - not even light - can escape from a black hole, how do we know where it is? A black hole exerts gravitational force, so the secret is to look for a star in the heavens that is in orbit around an invisible companion star.\n\nThe likeliest candidate is in the constellation of Cygnus, and is know as Cygnus X-1. According to Professor Stephen Hawking the British Physicist, by 1989 it was '95 percent certain' that Cygnus X-1 contained a black hole. \nHaving so enormous a force of gravity, black holes suck into themselves any matter that comes into their part of the heavens. One theory has it that they will eventually suck up everything in the entire universe. \n\nOnce it gets closer to the black hole matter becomes invisible, entering what is called the 'Event Horizon'. There is a limit to the pull even of black hole gravity and there must come a point of where light can neither escape nor be pulled back. On this 'event horizon' light would stand still or move very slowly.\n\nAn Immortal Spaceman\nThis raises the fascinating possibility that light images on the 'event horizon' would go on being seen more or less forever. For instance, if an Astronaut headed for a black hole, he might still be seen going through the 'event horizon' for million of years afterwards. \n\nHowever the prospects of any man landing on a black hole are small indeed. Closing in on the 'event horizon', those parts of his spacecraft or his body nearer to the black hole would receive more pull from the gravit. The results would be to stretch him out into a streak many miles long, while the compression reduced his volume.\n\nIf the spaceman was able to observe a clock far away from the black hole, the hands would appear to move faster as he approached the 'event horizon' until he was unable to see them. As he went through the 'event horizon' the hands would reverse, start slowing down and he would appear to be going backwards in time, though the time as measured by a watch on his wrist would not change.\n\nOnce through the 'event horizon' the spaceman would be unable to escape. In fact the harder he tried to avoid his fate, the faster he would meet it, since the energy expended in the attempt would produce increased mass & hence increased gravitational attraction. \n\nAs the spaceman approached closer to the black hole, he and his spacecraft would be torn to shreds. \n\nBackwards through another Universe\nOne mind boggling theory is that if a man ever did enter a black hole and avoid destruction, he might find himself in another universe travelling backwards in time. Aaaaaaaaishhh! Arghhh! hold me, hold me, for this darkness is gross, harder, harder, the power of my movement has no loss while salty sweat drip to form mighty oceans, and fiery flames burn to form volcanic eruptions, earthquake, storms and raging winds catapult us faster, faster, to the fighting with our fists clenched in tightened muscles of spasmodic bloodlust sensed during the battle of Troy which overtakes us. Aaaaaaaaishhh! Arghhh! bodyPrecious is the time Tick tock tick tock The chiming bells ring Waves of dark flowers Stream across the sky Ripples of endless water Smash the barren ground The dark door is open Calling its own, beckoning With sweet voices of binding promises Come tither come hither All your worries long forgotten All your pain taken away Do you feel light as feather Tis the sound of time fading away Behold the land of Kings abroad Where slave and servant are equal to Lord Come tither, come hither Your step must tick the time that be Tick tock tick tock The chiming bells ring Faces are shrouded in mystery Stars above seemingly dim in twinkle The salt has lost its flavor The procession of pall caterpillars Crawls on virtually forever Where there are no vultures in the sky Till the ice of truth shatters the mind of steel Time is neither sold nor gained Tis neither counted nor weighed A blessing and a curse for all living things that be The young, the old, the slave and free Tick tock tick tock says the Clock Exist ye unawares till your time’s up

bodyLove blinds the eyes and holds the heart to ransom. It makes the bitter truth taste sweeter than the strawberries planted on the hanging gardens of Ancient Babylon. Love is madness, Pure in its infancy, Perfect in its maturity. One cannot but wonder how the mist of its essence fades quickly before the eyes of Apollo, Patron of the Sun. Dusk falls, and the veil of a new dawn is torn. But in Love, Dusk falls, and Limbo continues in a never ending stream of foreverness For Prometheus could not be bound in greater chains than these. how the heart desires what the mouth cannot speak how the soul desires what the hand cannot seek It is indeed a mystery if mighty Zeus King of the gods could be driven by the Sisters of Fate in his insatiable desires to love, be loved and to consummate his love even unto lower mortals of ill frame then who am I to question my passions, my war, my love. I have journeyed across the Phoenician mountains, fought across the Baltic seas, swam across the river Styx and ascended beyond the 7th heaven in a twinkling of an eye, in the rhythm of a drumbeat my heart dances to the music of the Bacchae rites and my spirit draws nearer to the sweet songs of the wailing sirens indeed I am lost to the wave of orgiastic exigencies in my mind, body and soul.
