Proof of work provides an agreement to the Bitcoin network and establishes Bitcoin as a feasible decentralized currency. Proof of work was adopted by Satoshi Nakamoto to help establish Bitcoin as a digital currency that will endure for centuries. PoW allows miners to secure the Bitcoin network, collect sale freights, and make benefactions to the community by including blockheads into the sanctioned blockchain. As similar, miners are critical to the security of the Bitcoin network. Still, mining can be expensive and PoW's relative success depends on whether there is a profit motive for mining. A negative free market means miners will stop participating in the network. This leaves only small pools with low computational power and large computational power (GPUs) in control of most of the mining power. Still, it has been shown that GPU-based PoW algorithms have significantly lower centralization issues than CPU-based PoW algorithms. ___ **Proof of Stake**
![proof-of-stake.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcM9ZD78WX4PycNRkgt9PyrpKECFkR8hN7G8s5w7jkf92/proof-of-stake.jpg) [source](digitalconnectmag.com/proof-of-stake-a-medium-of-transaction-validation/)
Proof of Stake (PoS) is a replacement consensus mechanism that makes use of "trusted third parties" to allow verification of transactions on the blockchain. In PoS, there are no mining concepts. In PoS, all coins are stamped as rewards for verifying transactions on the blockchain system. Third parties select these transactions randomly and publish them on the blockchain. Users with enough stake or miners then choose which transactions to validate based on the probabilities they’ve assigned to each transaction. ___ **Differences**
![Proof-of-Stake-vs-Proof-of-Work.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWHmZapDktgXiNMenMmPXZjp4BdtnNViuUfqgS5uisFWE/Proof-of-Stake-vs-Proof-of-Work.jpg) [source](wallstreetmojo.com/proof-of-stake-vs-proof-of-work/)
The major difference between proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) is that in PoW, all the coins are mined by users while in PoS all the coins are minted by only the trusted third parties. Proof of work Uses energy-intensive calculations to solve what we know as cryptographic puzzles to verify transactions on the blockchain while Proof of stake needs trusted third parties to randomly select transactions on the blockchain and also publish them on the blockchain. It takes some time before a block is published to the whole blockchain. It also allows a share of all coins to be given as rewards after validating transactions. In proof of stake, anyuser can create new coins easily by investing their own asset/money into the pool, unlike in the proof-of-work where users must divert their energy into mining to ensure the validation of transactions. This difference sets a path to higher levels of decentralization in PoS compared to PoW. Proof of stake is less risky compared to proof of work because anyone can take part in it, but mining requires a large capital to do and only few people can do it. There is less risk that spiteful users can launch about 51% attacks and monopolize mining power in proof-of-work. Even though performing an attack on PoS is difficult, still there is no close level of difficulty for a miner to mine more than 50% of the blocks on the chain. Therefore, miners need to constantly improve their algorithms to maximize profits and minimize costs.
![CryptoLineBreaker.jfif](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmS54hU4jQZ4mTq479T2cXtCnW3hR9MyyQFf8xWTQk9gWk/CryptoLineBreaker.jfif)

**(b) Advantages & Disadvantages?**
___ **Proof-of-Work (PoW):** See three advantages/merits and disadvantages/demerits of PoW in the table below; Advantages | Disadvantages - | - PoW makes the decentralization of cryptocurrencies in blockchain technology. | It's slow when processing transactions and it is also expensive. PoW is very difficult for cybercriminals to attack/hack because of its strong security. | There is high energy consumption in PoW. Still, it has been shown that GPU-based PoW algorithms have significantly lower centralization issues than CPU-based PoW algorithms.\n___\n**Proof of Stake**\n
\n![proof-of-stake.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcM9ZD78WX4PycNRkgt9PyrpKECFkR8hN7G8s5w7jkf92/proof-of-stake.jpg)\n[source](digitalconnectmag.com/proof-of-stake-a-medium-of-transaction-validation/)
Proof of Stake (PoS) is a replacement consensus mechanism that makes use of \"trusted third parties\" to allow verification of transactions on the blockchain. In PoS, there are no mining concepts. In PoS, all coins are stamped as rewards for verifying transactions on the blockchain system. Third parties select these transactions randomly and publish them on the blockchain. Users with enough stake or miners then choose which transactions to validate based on the probabilities they’ve assigned to each transaction.\n___\n**Differences**\n
\n![Proof-of-Stake-vs-Proof-of-Work.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWHmZapDktgXiNMenMmPXZjp4BdtnNViuUfqgS5uisFWE/Proof-of-Stake-vs-Proof-of-Work.jpg)\n[source](wallstreetmojo.com/proof-of-stake-vs-proof-of-work/)
\nThe major difference between proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) is that in PoW, all the coins are mined by users while in PoS all the coins are minted by only the trusted third parties. Therefore, miners need to constantly improve their algorithms to maximize profits and minimize costs.\n\n
\n![CryptoLineBreaker.jfif](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmS54hU4jQZ4mTq479T2cXtCnW3hR9MyyQFf8xWTQk9gWk/CryptoLineBreaker.jfif)\n
\n
**(b) Advantages & Disadvantages?**
\n___\n**Proof-of-Work (PoW):**\nSee three advantages/merits and disadvantages/demerits of PoW in the table below;\n\nAdvantages | Disadvantages\n- | -\nPoW makes the decentralization of cryptocurrencies in blockchain technology. | It's slow when processing transactions and it is also expensive.\nPoW is very difficult for cybercriminals to attack/hack because of its strong security. | There is high energy consumption in PoW.\nMiners earn cryptocurrency rewards and also receive a share of transaction fees. | Expensive types of equipment are used to mine in proof-of-Work.\n___\n**Proof-of-Stake (PoS):**\nSee three advantages/merits and disadvantages/demerits of PoS in the table below;\n\nAdvantages | Disadvantages\n- | -\nThe energy efficiency of the Proof-of-Stake system is better compared to Proof-of-Work which means it doesn't require excess computational equipment. | An increase in the high number of validators tends to make the network becomes slower.\nPOS uses lesser hardware compared to POW but ensures more users participate in the process of consensus. | The level of security in PoS is lower than the level of security in PoW.\nIt is fast in the confirmation of transactions. | Most users are not encouraged to take part in the PoS platform because of the technological and technical barriers that come with understanding blockchain and also being cryptocurrency users/owners.\n\n
\n![CryptoLineBreaker.jfif](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmS54hU4jQZ4mTq479T2cXtCnW3hR9MyyQFf8xWTQk9gWk/CryptoLineBreaker.jfif)\n
\n
**(c) Which one is better in scaling Capacity? Let's look at them in details one after the other. Rising Wedge When we talk about the rising wedge, we also refer it to the bearish form of wedge pattern. It is so called because the end result of this type of wedge is a bearish movement in the price of an asset. The rising wedge is a movement of price in an upward direction or uptrend or bullish direction which after encountering a breakout, the said movement will reverse to an opposite direction I.e movement will change to downward direction or downtrend or bearish direction. The rising wedge uses the two trendline as we have discuss above, one acting as a support and the other acting as a resistance. The lines continue to move until they meet (Converge) each other at the end. When this is about to happen, the price will breakout and then reverse in an opposite direction, the volume of the asset also will have to decrease. Example of rising wedge can be seen in the screenshot below.
![SUL2.JPG](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQnkgkh1A34BAH5cmiwnrtgzCG6RtwxG8cmfydt2Q2kg6/SUL2.JPG) [screenshot taken from tradingbview]
* In other to identify the rising wedge pattern on a chart, you have to draw two trend lines one at the top of the price and the other below the price. * Be certain that this trend lines touches at least 5 points for it to be a valid wedge. It can be 3 touch above and 2 touch below. It can also be more than 5 touch but it must not be less than 5 touch. *** ***
#### The Falling Wedges When we talk about the falling wedge, we also refer it to the bullish form of wedge pattern. The falling wedge is a movement of price in a downward direction or downtrend or beardish direction which after encountering a breakout, the said movement will reverse to an opposite direction I.e movement will change to upward direction or uptrend or bullish direction. The Reason is stated below and a way out as well. It may interest you to know that false breakout are present in most trading market. hence since this cannot be eradicated from our day-to-day trading, it would be better if we think of ways to trade without getting caught up in false breakout. When we talk about false signal we are referring to signals given by the wedge pattern which are sometimes very disastrous to a trader. They signal will lead you into entering or exiting a trade the wrong time. So this is always seen in most pattern of trade and the case of the Wedge pattern is not an exception. So to answer the above question, the breakout of wedge pattern also produce fale signal. This false signal can be filtered by introducing an indicator to the trade.

![C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNtpVFSBNAkrdMu3B3A4WgyPjREb2HSiH6qFcqaaHYiiP/C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png) **Show full trade setup using this pattern for both types of Wedges.( Entry Point, Take Profit, Stop Loss, Breakout)** ![C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNtpVFSBNAkrdMu3B3A4WgyPjREb2HSiH6qFcqaaHYiiP/C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png)

For the purpose of the lesson, the token I will be using from the presentation will be the BTC/USD token. which is currently undergoing a downtrend in the price. **`TRADE SETUP FOR RISING WEDGE`** A sell entry setup is usually the case in the rising wedge. So we can spot wedges in bullish trend or bearish trend movement and because of that, we have two types of wedges I.e the rising and the falling wedges.\n\n
\n\n
\n![C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNtpVFSBNAkrdMu3B3A4WgyPjREb2HSiH6qFcqaaHYiiP/C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png)\n**Explain both types of Wedges and How to identify them in detail. Let's look at them in details one after the other.\n\nRising Wedge\n\nWhen we talk about the rising wedge, we also refer it to the bearish form of wedge pattern. It is so called because the end result of this type of wedge is a bearish movement in the price of an asset. The rising wedge is a movement of price in an upward direction or uptrend or bullish direction which after encountering a breakout, the said movement will reverse to an opposite direction I.e movement will change to downward direction or downtrend or bearish direction.\n\nThe rising wedge uses the two trendline as we have discuss above, one acting as a support and the other acting as a resistance. The lines continue to move until they meet (Converge) each other at the end. When this is about to happen, the price will breakout and then reverse in an opposite direction, the volume of the asset also will have to decrease. Example of rising wedge can be seen in the screenshot below.\n\n
\n\n![SUL2.JPG](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQnkgkh1A34BAH5cmiwnrtgzCG6RtwxG8cmfydt2Q2kg6/SUL2.JPG)\n[screenshot taken from tradingbview]\n
\n\n* In other to identify the rising wedge pattern on a chart, you have to draw two trend lines one at the top of the price and the other below the price.\n\n* Be certain that this trend lines touches at least 5 points for it to be a valid wedge. It can be 3 touch above and 2 touch below. It can also be more than 5 touch but it must not be less than 5 touch.\n\n\n\n***\n***\n\n
\n\n#### The Falling Wedges\n\n\n\nWhen we talk about the falling wedge, we also refer it to the bullish form of wedge pattern. The Reason is stated below and a way out as well.\n\nIt may interest you to know that false breakout are present in most trading market. hence since this cannot be eradicated from our day-to-day trading, it would be better if we think of ways to trade without getting caught up in false breakout.\n\nWhen we talk about false signal we are referring to signals given by the wedge pattern which are sometimes very disastrous to a trader. They signal will lead you into entering or exiting a trade the wrong time. So this is always seen in most pattern of trade and the case of the Wedge pattern is not an exception. So to answer the above question, the breakout of wedge pattern also produce fale signal. This means that the lines in question meets at the end of their movement which implies that the current trend will end and a new trend will have to begin. When this break out or reversal is about to take place, the volume of the asset will decrease. We basically see this wedges in a trend market not in a range market. This means that the lines in question meets at the end of their movement which implies that the current trend will end and a new trend will have to begin. The trendline is usually drawn on the price chart one above the price and the other below the price. This lines found above and below the price acts as resistances level and support level respectively.\n\n
\n\n
\n![C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNtpVFSBNAkrdMu3B3A4WgyPjREb2HSiH6qFcqaaHYiiP/C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png)\n\n**MEANING OF WEDGE PATTERN**\n![C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNtpVFSBNAkrdMu3B3A4WgyPjREb2HSiH6qFcqaaHYiiP/C3TZR1g81UNaPs7vzNXHueW5ZM76DSHWEY7onmfLxcK2iPUoBQ8ZLqVSiZwQtv52cwLh87BZgdrq6gWXDTfYp6M7Pe716L9Botf9MocCZsxycpVErVcxGri.png)\n
\n\n
\n\nIt is important to mention here that the two trend lines in questions have a large opening at their beginning and as the proceed the contract i.e the come closer to each other. It continues that way until it finally meet each other. This is mostly immediately after the price breakout and then reverses to the opposite direction. When this break out or reversal is about to take place, the volume of the asset will decrease.\n\nWe basically see this wedges in a trend market not in a range market.
The lines continue to move until they meet (Converge) each other at the end. When this is about to happen, the price will breakout and then reverse in an opposite direction, the volume of the asset also will have to decrease.
