      "body": "Again it's been a while since I last posted, but work has been busier than ever.\n\nI did find some time to work on some Manjaro ARM stuff though, so I thought I would go through a bit of it.\n\n# Manjaro-ARM 18.06 released!\nSome days ago I pushed out the 18.06 version of the `manjaro-release` package, making all running systems go to version 18.06.\n\nA new Minimal image is available for the **Raspberry Pi 2 and 3** shortly.\nBiggest changes to this image include:\n* New way images are being created!\n* Removed `networkmanager` and using `systemd-netowrkd` instead.\n* Removed the entire `base-devel` package group. People needed it to compile stuff, can install it back with `sudo pacman -S base-devel`.\n* `pacman` 5.1!\n\n\n## What about other devices?\nRight now, I have testing images available for the Odroid-C1 and the Odroid-C2, but the latest ones does not even boot.\nI need to figure out why, and soon, as I want to have these devices supported.\n\nWe don't support any armv6h devices, as that would require extra manpower and a bigger server hosting the repository.\n\n\n## Future plans\nThe plan for Manjaro-ARM right now, is to release new minimal images for supported devices, each month. A snapshot, like Arch Linux x86_64 does it.\n\nOther editions might get released often, but it depends on the maintainers of those editions.\nThis should become easier soon, hopefully, as I have started working on our own `manjaro-arm-tools` to generate images from your desktop PC.\n\nThe new tools will be used until Manjaro Architect supports our ARM platform and will consist of:\n* `buildarmimg` which will generate a .img and a .zip containing that .img.\n* `buildarmpkg` which will be used to create a package for an ARM platform.\n* Profiles to be used when creating the images, so you can create an image for minimal, mate, lxqt or others with a simple command. The profiles will contain all the settings and changed config files needed to give the edition the look and feel of Manjaro-ARM.",

It supports M.2 drives and more RAM.",

April is here and so is the promise of a new Ryzen 7 generation.\n\nAs I mentioned in my previous post, I wanna upgrade my old desktop CPU.\nBut come to think of it, since I atleast would need to upgrade mobo, cpu and RAM, why not just build a new machine entirely?\n\nSo that is what I plan on doing now.\n\n# The parts!\nI already started ordering the parts I need.       "body": "# New laptop!\n\n![ryzen-laptop.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmPbBFcXPLNbdpxqgYA4kVJRnTbf8naFfvifx9x5Juh29y/ryzen-laptop.jpg)\n\nHi all.\nI'm sorry, that I have been inactive for a while, I will try to be more productive in the time to come.\nMy excuse is like most others, I have been busy with a lot of stuff.\n\nBut the main thing is, that I've gotten my new laptop.\n\n## Ryzen 2700U laptop\n\nI got this bad boy some days ago, and it is a beast.\n\n* CPU: Ryzen 7 2700U 2.2 GHz\n* GPU: Radeon Vega 8\n* Screen: 13,3\" IPS 1080p\n* RAM: 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4\n* Storage: 512 GB M.2 SSD\n* Wifi: RTL8821CE AC\n* Bluetooth: 4.1\n* OS: Windows 10 Home\n\nIt's a great machine and one of the first things I did, was shrinking the Windows drive, to ake room for **Manjaro Linux**.\n\n\nSo right now it's dual booting, and there is a few reasons for that. Mainly that this is a work laptop, so I have to run Windows to test the software we need in the environment we need it.\n\nIn the short time I had it I quickly found out that I had to use Linux kernel 4.15 or above to even boot into graphical userspace.\n\nI also noticed that the laptop is quite unstable. It sometimes freezes without warning and I have to hard-reset it. Has so far *not* happened in Windows.\n\nI also found out that the Wifi driver is not in the kernel, I need to install an AUR package for it each time.\n\nPlus I found out that the bluetooth adapter does not show up at all in Linux.\n\n*It all works fine in Windows though.*\n\n## Benchmarking\nI benchmarked this new laptop and compared it to the benchmarks I did on my old laptop.\n\nPS: I did not figure out how to do a batch-benchmark before it was to late, so they are all seperated.\n\nPPS: The Xonotic benchmark for the Sony contains all resolutions and all qualities, to compare with.\n\n\nHere's the results:\n\n### Sony Vaio Benchmarks\n\nThe following benchmarks have been run on Sony Vaio:\n* build-linux-kernel (CPU)\n* glibc-bench (CPU)\n* xonotic (GPU)\n* glmark2 (GPU)\n\n**Results:**\n\n| Benchmark | Result | Good/Bad |\n| --------- | -------- | ---------- |\n| build-linux-kernel | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803052-FO-BUILDLINU75 | Okay |\n| glibc-bench | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803053-FO-GLIBCBENC79 | Okay |\n| xonotic | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803054-FO-XONOTICAL96 | Bad |\n| glmark2 | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803051-FO-GLMARK2AL83 | Bad |\n\n\n\n### Lenovo Ryzen 2700U Benchmarks\n\nThe following bechmarks have been run on Lenovo:\n* build-linux-kernel (CPU)\n* glibc-bench (CPU)\n* xonotic (GPU)\n* glmark2 (GPU)\n\n**Results:**\n\n| Benchmark | Result | Good/Bad |\n| --------- | -------- | ---------- |\n| build-linux-kernel | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803101-FO-RYZEN270023 | Good |\n| glibc-bench | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803103-FO-RYZEN270006 | Good |\n| xonotic | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803101-FO-RYZEN270084 | Good |\n| glmark2 | https://openbenchmarking.org/result/1803106-FO-RYZEN270059 | Good |\n\n**Conlclusion:**\n\nIt seems the new laptop is about twice as good as the old one.\n\nI would be running Linux on this machine most of the time, **if** it was stable enough, but it's not with the random freezing.\nI will be using the Linux OS when possible for light volunteer work etc, since that seems to work fairly well.\n\n\n## New Ryzen for the desktop soon?\nAs some of you may know, I'm saving up to buy the new Ryzen 7 Zen+ for my desktop when it launches in April.\n\nSo I will hopefully have another benchmark setup for you then (maybe even a batch one, if i find out how to do that properly).\n\nThe goal is to get as most free drivers on the machine as possible, but I can't afford an AMD GPU right now anyway, so I have to stay with my GTX 1060 with nonfree drivers.",

I need to get better at looking at the camera and other basic stuff.\n\n# My concern for DTube!\n\n## First, what is DTube?\n[DTube](https://d.tube) is a platform, using the Steem blockchain, to share video content with others. Decentralised alternative for YouTube.\nIt uses blockchain and bittorrent technology to share the content to other viewers.\n\n## What is the STEEM blockchain?\nThe Steem blockchain, is a blockchain technology that combines IPFS with distribution of content. This content can be text based, like with steemit.com, video content\nor sound content. For everything using the steem blockchain, you can earn STEEM or STEEM Dollars when people upvote your content. And Steem is a cryptocurrency,\nthat will probably rise in 2018.\n\n## What is the concern about DTube then?\nMy concern is:\nSince DTube is not centralised, it can't be moderated. Since it can't be moderated it can not uphold copyright claims.\nWhat is to stop people from uploading copyrighted content to DTube?\nAnd because of that, what is to keep DTube from becoming the defacto standard for sharing copyrighted material?\nSince it is using bittorrent to share the content, it is basicly unstoppable.\nThis is not to mention the risc of getting in terorist videos or something similar.\n\nI also noticed an increased trend in the sexual content on DTube, like straight up porn clips has popped up.\nCould this be a new platform for the porn industry to put out the short \"teasers\"?\nMaybe not, maybe it's just the amatuers, that will use it to spread the word about them.\n\n## But it also has promise!\nNow that I have vented my immidiate concerns about DTube, and what it might be used for, I want to say that I think it's a great platform!\nThe idea behind it, the tech behind it and ofcourse the fact, that it's the first true open source alternative to Youtube's monopoly, makes it great.\nI know I am gonna use it more, to post my videos, and will probably also use it's \"sister\" project, [DLive](https://www.dlive.io).\n**DLive** is a streaming platform, like Twitch, but it uses the same tech as DTube. I have not been a very active streamer, but I might change that,\nif DLive proves to be a solid platform.\n\nThe very best thing about these services though, is that you will make money of the content you create.
