It was posted by somebody who didn't believe it is possible for Muslim's to not be homophobic. In my experience, this is not only possible, but it is possible that its the norm.\n\nHave they met any Muslims?  I know some.  My impression, in general, is that they seem very similar to people who are not Muslim. They tend to follow holidays and traditions that've been passed down to their families. They work, play, go to the park. \n\nSomething like a million Muslims marched in the UK against hate and violence. He seemed like a very smart, and kind, person. \n\nI had a friend who, besides covering her hair outside of her home, would not eat any food that had been prepared by a non-muslim. Further, she would explain, every time she had an opportunity to decline food, that this was because her religion forbade her from eating food which had been prepared by somebody who was not of her faith.  We could eat food from her, but she could not eat food from us. So, she would eat prepared food she'd bought from a store, and she'd eat at restaurants, so food which had prepared by who-knows-who, but nobody ever pointed this out to her. Much like nobody points anything out to a vegan who is partial to leather shoes and jackets.  Did this particular woman follow all of the other commands of Islam? Not that I could see. She told me she did not take time out for regular prayers, or attend a mosque.  But she liked wearing a headscarf and declining food from people. Many Catholics, and other groups, also follow different food restrictions at different times.  Anyone should be free to do this.\n\nDo I hold Catholics responsible for the horrific crimes of some of their church's priests and leaders? No, I certainly do not. \n\nMy experience is that reasonable people are the norm, not that Westboro Baptist Church which was in the news for a while with their hate. And not the Muslims who have been in the news in bad ways.\n\nAnd so, I believe the people in the top photo are Muslim, and that they do not hate LGBT. And, based on my experiences, I think it is likely they are the norm.  It is true that I am biased, in that I want to believe this. But this also aligns with my experiences with people I've met. Let's not insist there is hate where there isn't any. \n\nI support peoples' right to not hate.",

And it is motivated by protecting human rights in different places.\n\nI don't know. On the one hand, there are significantly fewer human rights violations in a country if there are significantly fewer living humans.  However, mass murder is obviously not an actual win for human rights. Based on the consistent results of countries being destroyed, very few people believe U.S intervention is motivated by concern for human rights.\n\nAs an alternate explanation to the U.S. being a nation of psychopathically violent, human-rights activists, some people have suggested that these military actions are instead motivated by a desire to rob the victim countries of their resources.  While this does seem more believable than the human-concern story, corporations who partner with the war machine have reaped massive benefits from the victim countries, the thing is, many of the weapons used against victim countries not only destroy humans, they have also destroyed significant resources. Weapons we use, including a variety of bombs, highly toxic chemicals, and radioactive materials such as depleted uranium, have laid waste to agricultural resources, and the destruction tends to increase the expense of extracting mineral resources which have not been flat-out destroyed. With infrastructures no longer practical to use, the net resources of the victim countries are often decimated. Further, the weapons themselves cost us much more than any resources we've taken would've cost to just purchase. So, it seems that stealing resources, while sometimes an opportunistic bonus, is also unlikely to be the real motivation.\n\n\n![Venesuela2.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmakrLWeH31jNLxnz1zfbyGyi7nEEGCBxA7ZzCD3PzNELX/Venesuela2.jpg)\n\nPossibly, the real motivation, meaning what is actually wanted by the war machine with their non-stop attacks on various counties, is what they actually consistently achieve, which is death, destruction, terror, and power through fear.\n\nIf this huge and powerful machine of destruction were not spending obscene amounts of money, and tremendous effort, on destruction around the world, there could be a plentitude of resources all over the globe. And this could be available much more abundantly, and for much lower cost, than through the left-overs of war. As we know, the cost of war includes much more than unsustainable financial cost. The human, cultural, and environmental costs of war are also intolerably high.\n\nSolutions?  How to stop it?  They say: as above, so below.  Perhaps the self-proclaimed \"police force of the world\" can be checked the same way Minnesota Representative Raymnd Dehn called to control police in Minnesota: criminal police go to prison, threaten the rest of them with being disarmed.  \n\nThe U.S. has no right to attack countries which are not threating us, so we have no right to attack any other countries. This was in the face of his oath to protect our Constitution, including the First Amendment to the Constitution, which prohibits the government from infringing upon the freedom of speech.  \n\nAs you know, Americans certainly have been fired, or jailed, for saying a variety of things that they actually thought. As if the USA were just another totalitarian dictatorship. \n\nSomething interesting I found out about China is that China’s constitution guarantees the freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of demonstration, and of religious worship. Obviously not.  From what I can tell, the rights listed in their constitution are some sort of dark joke.  \n\nApparently, the rights listed in any country’s constitution have only as much power as people decide they should have.  \nLet’s decide the rights listed in our constitution are the foundation for our government and our country, and the rest of our laws fall underneath those rights.\n\nIf you disagree with me, talk to me about it.  All of us should be free to discuss whatever it is that is on our minds.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nThe argument for criminalizing “hate speech” is that it normalizes hate.  People actually back this. \n\nNo sort of speech normalizes hate. Hate is normal.  Hate has been normal since the beginning of time.  Further, just because a person hears “hate speech” does not mean they will automatically  agree with it, or that they will now think hate is good.  None of those things are the case.\n\nLook up Daryl Davis, who is the black man who has converted many KKK members from hate by talking with them.  Davis said \n\n“Give them a platform. You challenge them. But you don’t challenge them rudely or violently. You do it politely and intelligently.
