Kitanglad</strong>, an inactive volcano and of which is the fourth highest mountain in the country, the farm is owned by a <em>Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Maputi Sr, </em>and has a mission to educate the community through <em>Agri-Ecological</em> technologies.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1420231-1024x879.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"693\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=693\" class=\"wp-image-693\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7252-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"713\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=713\" class=\"wp-image-713\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>The farm has not been altered to fit a tourist spot, in fact, it has been constructed to keep the farm as is and be a medium for nature lovers and wild photographers. But what makes it extra interesting is the work of the hand of the owner's son, Ben who had constructed tree houses, <em>Hobbiton</em> and other <em>Bali</em>-inspired corners which I will talk later on in a separate blog.</p>\n<p>The farm had also earned with itself some awards. To name a few, Most Outstanding Farm \"Family Category\" in the Philippines (Gawad Saka 2006) Most Outstanding Farm in the City, Province and Region (Family Category) Champion in Provincial Tourism Destination \"<em>Agri-Eco Category</em>\" and a lot more.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1420305-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"694\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=694\" class=\"wp-image-694\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>Currently, the 22-hectare farm produces the following products, Philippines Endemic Tree Seedlings, Coffee Beans, Abaca Fiber, Essential Oil, Organically Grown High-Value Crops \"Cabbage, Bell Pepper, Lettuce, Tomato, Carrots, Beans and farm animals also.</p>\n<p>I admit that the main reason that we came to visit&nbsp;<strong>Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm</strong>&nbsp;was that of their&nbsp;<strong>hobbit house</strong>. But there's more to see than just these halfling dwellings because there are still more to find and enjoy at the farm.</p>\n<h4><strong>1. Tree Houses</strong></h4>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1420201_-769x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"695\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=695\" class=\"wp-image-695\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC8064-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"700\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=700\" class=\"wp-image-700\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>Before the <strong>hobbit houses</strong>, there were already quarters built on trees and had become temporary residences for the farm's visitors and overnight stay guests.</p>\n<p>Currently, there are three of them, one which is the highest of the three with a view deck connected by a wooden palette towards the next tree, this room is the most comfortable of all their accommodations.</p>\n<p>Next is their lover's guava treehouse. this is shorter but is definitely a sweet spot because it has a second-floor viewing deck which is facing the East, that's a perfect place to be with during the sunrise.</p>\n<p>Lastly, their newest addition which is grander and sturdier than the first two. With nice wooden stairs and designed balusters. Unlike the other treehouses, this one here is bigger and can accommodate four guests! All have free breakfast!</p>\n<h4><strong>2. Bali-Inspired Corners</strong></h4>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/MG_3276_MG_3276-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"696\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=696\" class=\"wp-image-696\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7094-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"699\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=699\" class=\"wp-image-699\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>You might have seen some spots in&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.bali.com/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bali</a>&nbsp;which are very Instagrammable, meaning they are so cool and cute that when posted on Instagram, it will surely bring traffic over to your page?</p>\n<p><strong>Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm</strong> is never behind these trends because <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://www.facebook.com/BenjaminMaputiJr\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Benjamin Maputi Jr.</a> had also invested his time and efforts as well as resources in bringing these corners into their own farm.</p>\n<p>Birds nest, cool native frames, magic carpet, and my favorite, their infinity swing! I had so much fun at these spots most especially the swing where I had watched the sunrise as I felt the cold morning breeze hitting my face with every swing.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC8013-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"698\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=698\" class=\"wp-image-698\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7998-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"710\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=710\" class=\"wp-image-710\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>Aside from that, there's an addition of hanging bridge too! That spot is overlooking the wild forest, filled with birds and insects which are producing that really relaxing sound. A Canopy walk, Forest trail, and Bird watching are also present.</p>\n<h4><strong>3. One of the very obvious ones was their essential oils. They extract it from Citronella plants, air-dried and gone through certain processing, they are able to make tons of these products and sell to the market outside the farm vicinities. They also give citronella oils to the guests to keep the bugs away, effective actually!</p>\n<p>There are also local Arabica coffee trees on the farm! These are being processed within as well. I have personally seen how a worker used the manual method of pounding and grinding the roasted beans! It smelled really good while I watched her do the process.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7942-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"714\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=714\" class=\"wp-image-714\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7952-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"716\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=716\" class=\"wp-image-716\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>But what's really nice is that they brew their coffee every day for themselves as well as for the guests! Even walk-in guests and visitors can have a cup or more!</p>\n<p>Farm animals like ducks, hogs, goats, and others are also present. The owners have their own Husky, Dalmatian and another breed which I forgot the name inside the farm too!</p>\n<h4><strong>4. The <strong>Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm</strong> has DIY <strong>hobbit houses</strong> that were created by<em> Mr. Benjamin Maputi Jr.</em> himself.</p>\n<p>We personally had spent hours engaging in talks about the history of how he began making these structures and he mentioned it was because of a friend's vision of having such in her own land that he was encouraged to make a prototype within his farm.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7717-Edit-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"707\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=707\" class=\"wp-image-707\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7781-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"708\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=708\" class=\"wp-image-708\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC7831-Edit-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"709\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=709\" class=\"wp-image-709\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>Because of his own resources, woods and soil, as well as other materials, are all available on the farm, he was able to build the first one which is now established together with some two more houses beside a pond.</p>\n<p>Then he went on creating another set of four houses, one of which is already available to stay in. And a new one which is still under construction. He dreams of creating a village of <strong>hobbit houses</strong> where guests become good neighbors just like how a community works.</p>\n<h3><strong>How to Reach Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm?</strong></h3>\n<p>The road to&nbsp;<strong>Mt. Kitanglad Agro Eco Farm</strong>&nbsp;is very bumpy and challenging. We were lucky it was dry and sunny when we went there. I heard a lot of stories from our \"<em>habal-habal</em>\" drivers of guests who were not able to go because of the steep and muddy path.</p>\n<p>But as cliche, as it is, those hard paths are the most unforgettable experiences, which I agree.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/MG_3297_MG_3297-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"711\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=711\" class=\"wp-image-711\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/MG_3309_MG_3309-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"712\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=712\" class=\"wp-image-712\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>From <em>Cagayan De Oro</em>, one can go to the <em>Agora Bus Terminal</em> ride a bus going to <em>Malaybalay Bukidnon</em>. There are many options and buses are available every hour. Travel time 2.5 to 3 hours and the fare is only Php 120.00 for an airconditioned bus. Try <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://www.facebook.com/pabama.transport\" target=\"_blank\">Pabama Bus Tours</a> if you want to get entertained while traveling.</p>\n<p>Since the previous&nbsp;<em>Casisang</em>&nbsp;road was damaged because of the rains, it is highly recommended to use the&nbsp;<em>Malaybalay City</em>&nbsp;diversion road instead. One can stop at the Sumpong Shell Station, \"<em>habal-habal</em>\" drivers are available in this part. You'll pass by the newly constructed rehab center and there are signs going to the&nbsp;<strong>Hobbit House</strong>. You'll also pass by a beautiful road with tall colorful trees too.</p>\n<p>The drivers charge Php 150 per way per head. You can request them to wait for you or pick you up the next day, ensure to take their mobile numbers.</p>\n<p>There's a 4G signal on the farm which was cool. She was three years old, released into the wild in honor of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://www.rappler.com/move-ph/issues/environment/96167-philippine-eagle-released-independence-day\" target=\"_blank\">Philippine Independence day</a> but just a few weeks after, her tracker showed mortality mode, thus causing them to search for the eagle. Then she was found with a bullet hole in her chest, causing her death.</p>\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://www.bagheera.com/inthewild/van_anim_phleagle.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Philippine Monkey-Eating Eagle</strong></a> is the <strong>Philippines</strong>' national bird and is declared critically-endangered. They are only endemic to the country and only around 400 pairs are left in the wild. The low number of eagles is alarming and if the government won't do anything about it, there's a high probability that the future generation won't be able to see these magnificent birds.</p>\n<img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1480423-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-658\"/>\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.philippineeaglefoundation.org/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Philippine Eagle Foundation</strong></a>&nbsp;aims to preserve and save our national living treasures for the&nbsp;<em>Filipino</em>&nbsp;and the entire world. Our future generation deserves to see these birds and be awed by just merely their presence. Thus, it was also my personal goal to see them up close and personal. The&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.philippineeaglefoundation.org/philippine-eagle-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Philippine Eagle Center</strong></a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Davao City</strong>&nbsp;is the best place to go.</p>\n<p>So, when I booked a ticket to&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https://www.bitlanders.com/blogs/our-first-2019-travel-davao-planned-itinerary/7757036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Davao City</a></strong>, visiting the<strong>&nbsp;Philippine Eagle Center</strong>&nbsp;was my top priority. And so, it was the very first place that we came to during our&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.bitlanders.com/blogs/davao-city-2019-day-1/7758249\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first day in&nbsp;<strong>Davao City</strong></a>.</p>\n<center><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5668-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-657\"/></center>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5684-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"664\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=664\" class=\"wp-image-664\"/></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5683-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"665\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=665\" class=\"wp-image-665\"/></li></ul>\n<h1><strong>Introducing the Mightly Philippine Eagle</strong></h1>\n<p>Fierce eyes, attentive behaviors, and pretty feathers, these are just some of the things that I could describe our&nbsp;<strong>Philippine Eagle</strong>. I could only read them on textbooks back in my school days.</p>\n<p>Our national bird is also our national heritage, one good reason why we as <em>Filipinos</em> have the responsibility of caring and protecting this territorial bird.</p>\n<img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1480371-769x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-660\"/>\n<p>Previously called&nbsp;<strong>Philippine Monkey Eating Eagle</strong>, obviously, the reason why called as such is its behavior of eating flying lemurs and monkeys in the wild. A mature&nbsp;<strong>Eagle</strong>&nbsp;can grow to three feet with a wingspan of around seven feet, this is twice bigger than its body and is the broadest in the entire world. It has a distinctly extensive arched beak and long crown feathers which make it beautiful. Additionally, it is the only blue-eyed bird in the world, with eyes that can see eight times the distance than that of humans. Isn't it beautiful? I find it very rare thus giving us more reason to be a help in preserving its species as well as conserving forests as one&nbsp;<strong>Eagle</strong>&nbsp;requires around seven thousand hectares of full-grown low land forest.</p>\n<p>Each <strong>Eagle</strong> is loyal to only one mate, a pair can only produce one egg in two years, the pair has to wait for another two years when the offspring is already ready on its own to live before they could produce another one.</p>\n<h1><strong>Preserving the Philippine Eagle for the Future Generation</strong></h1>\n<p>The <strong>Philippine Eagle</strong> as how it is mostly called is very vulnerable to human misconduct, poaching, and hunting but most especially, the destruction of forests and mountains too which is also caused by human beings.</p>\n<img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1480353-769x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-661\"/>\n<p>The Eagles have the tendency to fly to open space for food, with the great tendency of exposure to humans, just like <em>Pamana</em>, hunters use air guns to kill them for reason that we don't know of. It is heartbreaking to know that there are people who consider this fun, it is definitely not and<strong> PEF or the Philippine Eagle Foundation</strong> has been doing their best to inform and educate the people around the localities as well as hire guards to the forests around where these <strong>Eagles</strong> mostly are seen.</p>\n<p>The preservation of&nbsp;<strong>Philippine Eagles</strong>&nbsp;can't be done by one group alone, it has to be a collective effort thus, the adoption of these&nbsp;<strong>Eagles</strong>&nbsp;came in hand.</p>\n<p>By adopting one, the adoptive person or company advances the research, rescue, education and other action efforts to save and protect the <strong>Philippine Eagles</strong>. An estimated amount of Php 150,000 is being provided by the adoptor to the<strong> Philippine Eagle Center</strong> in order to take care of the specific <strong>Eagle</strong>. Each adoptor can also choose the name of the <strong>Eagle</strong>.</p>\n<img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1480543-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-667\"/><br/><i><em>MVP Eagle adopted by PLDT</em></i>\n<img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1480545-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-662\"/><br/><i><em>The adoption wall</em></i>\n<p>One of the many personalities who adopted an&nbsp;<strong>Eagle</strong>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.entrepreneur.com.ph/news-and-events/lance-gokongwei-is-new-ceo-of-jg-summit-holdings-a00178-20180427\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lance Gokongwei</a>, the president and chief executive officer of&nbsp;<a href=\"http://cebupacificair.com/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cebu Pacific</a>, one of the airlines in the country. He named the&nbsp;<strong>Eagle</strong>,&nbsp;<em>Mindanao</em>&nbsp;from one of the three island groups in the&nbsp;<strong>Philippines</strong>. Here's his statement during the adoption:</p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>“The </em><strong><em>Philippine eagle</em></strong><em> is a significant part of our country’s thriving ecosystem. We encourage everyone to help preserve this national icon until they can fly freely, without threat in their natural habitats.\"</em></p>\n</blockquote>\n<p>I do hope that there will be more companies who'd extend help and effort in adopting the <strong>Eagles</strong> of PEC. Visiting the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://www.philippineeaglefoundation.org/philippine-eagle-center\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Philippine Eagle Center</strong></a> was one of these cases.</p>\n<p>Before the start of 2019, my husband James and I had already placed the <strong>Philippine Eagle Center</strong> as our top places to visit because we want to see a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://philippineeaglefoundation.org/the-philippine-eagle\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Philippine Eagle</strong></a> up close. <strong>Philippine Eagle</strong> is the national bird of the <em>Philippines</em> and it deserves to be revered as such. However, it is currently categorized as a critically endangered animal.</p>\n<p>At the foot of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://www.mtapoadventures.com/about-the-mountain/\" target=\"_blank\">Mt. Apo in Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City</a> lies a huge area dedicated to the conservation breeding facility of our critically endangered <strong>Philippine Eagle</strong>. It's an 8.4-hectare land which has become a primary tourist destination as well in the city.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_7730-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"676\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=676\" class=\"wp-image-676\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_7699-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"683\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=683\" class=\"wp-image-683\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>The center's huge land area may be overwhelming, however, only a part of this land is accessible by tourists. Currently, there are only two areas that are accessible to the public, the closed canopy and the plaza or the exhibit area. However, the rest of the functional areas are divided for the conservation breeding and food stock.\\</p>\n<p>First and foremost, an entrance fee of Php 150 has to be paid prior to entering the center. This amount will help the center's staff as well as the <strong>Eagles</strong>.</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5683-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"665\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=665\" class=\"wp-image-665\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5681-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"675\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=675\" class=\"wp-image-675\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>Snacks and refreshments can be bought as well in here. This serves as the entrance and exit area so guests can unwind here before and after the tour.  A souvenir shop is also available for those who would like to bring home some gift items inspired by the <strong>Philippine Eagle</strong>. I bought three refrigerator magnets. While there are more items such as Tshirts, stuff toys, mugs and a lot more, paintings and sketches of the <strong>Eagles</strong> are also there. </p>\n<p>Right before entering, visitors, young or adults have to sanitize themselves by the provided disinfectant liquids. Aside from that, everyone is also required to step on another disinfectant for the footwear. <em>Better safe than sorry!</em></p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5687-684x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"672\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=672\" class=\"wp-image-672\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/P1480522-769x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"679\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=679\" class=\"wp-image-679\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>The close canopy is a natural forest that is adjacent to the<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://www.slideshare.net/geonyzl/malagos-watershed\" target=\"_blank\"> Malagos Watershed</a>. It is also important to note that this area here in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://www.bitlanders.com/blogs/davao-city-2019-day-1/7758249\" target=\"_blank\">Davao</a> is actually cold compared to that in the main city. Probably due to the forest, so upon entering the close canopy section, it felt like we were really going into a forest, the trees are thick, the floras are growing here and there and we only have to follow the pathway and the signages to locate the areas where the <strong>Eagles</strong> are situated.</p>\n<p>Silence is required here as <strong>Eagles</strong> have different personalities, some don't want to even see humans! But it was a rejuvenating experience to get into this trail, we heard a lot of birds chirping and Eagles calling out, their voices sound like they were calling someone, their parent or friend perhaps?</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/DSC_5690-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"673\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=673\" class=\"wp-image-673\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>We found <em>Pag Asa</em>, the first-ever successful hatch using the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://www.ansci.wisc.edu/jjp1/ansci_repro/lec/lec_22/lec22_out.html\" target=\"_blank\">Cooperative Artificial Insemination Breeding Method</a> by the center. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://philippineeaglefoundation.org/adopt/eagle/28\" target=\"_blank\">Pag Asa</a> just recently celebrated its 27th hatch day or birthday on the 15th. It's a milestone for the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://philippineeaglefoundation.org/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Philippine Eagle Foundation</strong></a> to have <em>Pag Asa</em> alive and also now having its own line, a female Eagle named <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://philippineeaglefoundation.org/adopt/eagle/25\" target=\"_blank\">Mabuhay</a>. But we couldn't get a good photo of it because its placed way above us and our lens was not enough for wildlife photography! Sad life!</p>\n<p>There were more Eagles around, I noticed their name prints also carry adoption information such as <em>Pag Asa</em> being adopted by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://pilipinas.shell.com.ph/\" target=\"_blank\">Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation</a> in 2014 from the day it was hatched. Thirty-three others are adopted by different companies and individuals like Kuya Kim Atienza and his family. Even the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister_of_Japan\" target=\"_blank\">Prime Minister of Japan</a> also adopted one which he named <em>Sakura</em> but it died of snakebite, <em>poor one</em>!</p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_7688-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"677\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=677\" class=\"wp-image-677\"/></figure></li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img src=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IMG_7710-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"678\" data-link=\"https://stillsandmotion.blog/?attachment_id=678\" class=\"wp-image-678\"/></figure></li></ul>\n<p>The exhibit area displays the juvenile eagles, it also houses the different facilities such as <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://thejerny.com/tag/diolas-forest/\" target=\"_blank\">Diola's Forest</a> and the audio-visual room where there are several videos and documentaries being filmed to give information and lasting impression to the guests about the importance of Eagles to our country and even to the entire world. </p>\n<p> The <strong>Philippine Eagle</strong> is actually one of a kind, its roots are untraceable anymore so they are the only type of species now and only 400 pairs are left in the wild which is why, the <strong>Philippine Eagle Foundation</strong> is working hard to preserve and conserve the Philippine Eagle, several partners both government and private institutions are also helping out to this vision. </p>\n<p>During our visit, we only did a walking tour without any guide. But I highly suggest that guests get a guided tour which will help each one to become more educated by the lives and facts about these&nbsp;<strong>Eagles</strong>. This is free actually and it is the guest's discretion if they'll give tips and donations.</p>\n<p>Every now and then, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/phileaglefdn/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Philippine Eagle Foundation</strong>'s social media account</a>&nbsp;announces bird watching activities where several wild birds can be seen within the area. Each guest has to bring their binoculars to have a clear vision of these birds.</p>\n<p>Wild trails, on the other hand, is a paid service where those who would want to have their name engraved on the center's concrete path could pay Php 500 which is another help for the conservation of the <strong>Eagles</strong>. The same goes for Tree of Hope. It took us around 45 minutes traveling from the main city to&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.davaolife.com/davao-bamboo-sanctuary-and-ecological-park-in-malagos-baguio-district.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Malagos, Baguio District</a>&nbsp;following&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.bitlanders.com/blogs/how-to-contribute-to-google-maps/6277902\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Maps</a>.</p>\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http://www.bitlanders.com/blogs/i-became-a-google-local-guide/5572847\" target=\"_blank\">Google Maps</a> showed us a route that had a faster route but I don't recommend this because the road isn't 100% smooth plus there are several areas that have a very bad foul odor. It is better to travel from the highway.</p>\n<p>You may opt to get a van too for the entire family or group if you are traveling together or get a cab but that would be a little expensive.</p>\n<h4><em>Commute</em></h4>\n<p>For those who want to commute, based on my research, there are buses that depart every 15 minutes from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://throwcautiontothewind.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/tales-of-the-g-i-the-phil-eagle-center-on-public-commute/\" target=\"_blank\">Annil Terminal</a>, bus fares are priced at Php 30. Upon reaching <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Districts_of_Davao_City\" target=\"_blank\">Calinan</a> after an hour or so, take a trike to PEC, this is only around ten minutes ride and will cost Php 6. In total, that's Php 36 only!</p>\n<p>Don't worry about getting hungry, there are stalls and eateries outside the center. One of which stood out for us was this honey glazed turon with Sesame seeds!
