Before it, the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to frighten him into submission, then took to placating him, and now seeks to split and weaken his organisation, the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, which initiated the movement to wrest for the Patidar or Patel caste the status of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and reservation in government jobs and educational institutes.\nTo think, Hardik is just 24 years old, still nine months short of the minimum age required to contest in the Assembly or Lok Sabha elections! It must feel heady for him to have powerful suitors at his age, grab media headlines, and boast 1.25 lakh Twitter followers. He’s arguably the most powerful of India’s youth icon.\n\nYet Hardik is also the new name of the problem dogging Indian polity. It has been festering for now nearly a decade, worsening every passing year and threatening to become incurable. Hardik's clout and popularity have risen because he symbolises the problem with all its throbbing intensity that could wrack India’s body politics as well.\n\nThe power of Hardik as a symbol arises from the challenge he represents to the Indian state’s reservation policy for the OBCs. He is a problem because he represents a solution to only his caste of Patels, who are 12 percent of Gujarat’s population and relatively more prosperous of social groups. The extension of affirmative action to Patels in the reservation pool will likely have them corner a large chunk of government jobs floating in the reservation pool. And that certainly become a problem for the OBCs.\n\nThe OBCs in Gujarat constitute 40 percent of the state’s population and enjoy 27 percent reservation. In addition, the scheduled castes have 7 percent of reservation and the scheduled tribes 15 percent. Thus, Gujarat has 49 percent of reservation, just 1 percent less than the maximum reservation the Supreme Court allows.\n\nHardik doesn’t want 1 percent reservation – it is too minuscule to satisfy the ambitious Patels. He simply wants them listed in the OBC list. Given the economic clout of Patels both in India and abroad, the OBCs fear that Hardik’s caste brethren will invariably corner the bulk of 27 percent reservation.![HARDIK_PATEL_AFP1.jpg]",

The government is reportedly considering the prohibition of the use, as well as possession of the virtual currencies and not just a ban on their acceptance as a form of payment.\n\nBased on a report by local paper Maghreb Emergent, the National People’s Congress (NPC) is currently tackling the 2018 Finance Bill that will declare the usage and ownership of the leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin as illegal in the country.\n\nPart of the bill reads:\n\n“Any violation of this provision is punished in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.”\n\nOther key provisions of the bill\nBased on the wordings of the bill, the government intends to establish tougher control on the use of cryptocurrencies in digital transactions. The bill also claims that the digital currencies may be used in such illegal activities as drug trafficking, money laundering and tax evasion due to the guaranteed anonymity of its users during a transaction.\n\nThe bill defines Bitcoin as a “so-called virtual currency” that can be utilized by Internet users. It further states that the number one digital currency is characterized by the absence of physical support like banknotes, coins, bank cards or payments by check. These features of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are the clear reasons why some countries like Algeria are showing grave concerns on their use and existence.\n\nOther countries’ actions on cryptocurrencies\nAlgeria is just one of the countries that are trying to take action on the use and proliferation of digital currencies. In Indonesia, the government has announced that it will not recognize Bitcoin as a legal form of currency. Because of this, a couple of major Bitcoin payment platforms in the country have decided to voluntarily stop their operations potentially similar to what happened to halted cryptocurrency exchanges in Indonesia.![sa.jpg]",

Bitcoin price has jumped to over $6,100 on Oct. 20.\n\nMeanwhile, the negative view of Buffett on Bitcoin is not surprising as the well-known investor has already expressed such comments in the past. In 2014, the billionaire advised that investors should keep away from Bitcoin because the cryptocurrency is “basically a mirage.”\n\nOther opinions on Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market\nAside from Buffett, other virtual currency market observers have also issued their opinions on the latest developments in the market. The study further stated that there is basically no connection between a child’s well-being and the wealth of a country. A comparative look at 41 high income countries in the world, shows that issues regarding the quality of life where children are concerned can by gauged by measuring the different components like mental health, education, alcohol abuse and the economic and living status. The results of the study, to say the least are troubling as a generation of children who are growing up poor could damage the future of the country.\n\nIt was also found that ‘even in high-income countries, progress does not benefit all children,’ as per the UNICEF’s director of Innocenti, Sarah Cook. Surprisingly, the United States and New Zealand were named among the countries that were said to have poor performance and ranked 37 and 41 respectively. In the U.S., the biggest issues that were found were poverty, education, hunger, health and inequality. Coming to New Zealand, it was on the issues of adolescent mental health that it scored poorly. Their position on the UNICEF list could be improved considerably if they invested in greater access to the healthcare of adolescents, mainly mental health care.\n\nStatistics say that twenty-two percent of children in America lived in poverty in the year 2013. Worryingly, as per the latest Kids Count Data Book, the figure in 2008 was 18%.The Annie E. Casey Foundation, the organization that compiled the report, thought the figures were ‘especially troubling,’ and there were concerns that children would increasingly be growing up in a neighbourhood that was very poor.\n\nWe don’t really need research to tell us that poverty has a detrimental impact on the health of a kid, from issues such as exposure to lead and asthma, low birth weight and infant mortality, to issues of future employment and economic security.",
