| title | Race: The Difficult Conversation We Have to Have |
| body | Everything I am about to talk about IS EXTREMELY UNCONFORMABLE I am going to explore the possibility that NOT ALL RACES ARE THE SAME I AM NOT saying this is THE TRUTH, I am trying to discuss this so that we can FIND THE TRUTH ~ My friends this post was inspired by a discussion on Reddit that got Downvoted into Oblivion We were trying to Steelman Richard Spencers worldview WITHOUT agreeing with him. Richard Spencer is very fatalistic and says: "Races cannot mix and inevitably end up fighting" His fear is that White peoples idealism will lead to White's allowing other cultures to take them over and will lead to Gulags. His solution is to take a stance that is EXTREMELY ethnocentric and focused on White interest. This was in The Jordan Peterson sub because: Spencer hugely violates JBP's stance of Individualism in the face of Identity politics And in exploring this I think I may have Identified a vulnerability in JBP's argument So I'm going to STEELMAN the pro-white agenda so as to stir up a decent discussion ~ So let's engage in a thought experiment: Axiom One - Democracies fail to function when the populations average IQ drops below 90 points Axiom Two - Research SEEMS to indicate that IQ is genetic, with Jews, Asians, and European tribes floating around or above 100 IQ points Axiom Three - Lower IQ demographics like Sub Saharan Africans, Hispanics, and Arabs have a HIGHER FERTILITY RATE than higher IQ populations The Story: The Values of the Modern West involve diversifying the Gene pool by taking in Huge numbers of Immigrants from Low IQ populations: Middle East, Sub Saharan Africa, and Latin America. These trends will unfortunately lower the general IQ, because the Low IQ populations will OUT BREED the high IQ populations When the IQ goes low enough, the democratic institutions and social fabric will collapse. In order to establish order a firm Totalitarian politic will need to be instantiated. This will involve a tribal or religious war as a weird Neo-Islam and Neo-Nazism fight for power. Regardless who wins there will be chaos, death, and the creation of a new Violent Patriarchy. It may take centuries to recover. ~ This steel-man of ethnocentrism means we may be looking at A SERIOUS PROBLEM in a few decades IF MY AXIOMS ARE TRUE ~ I sourced these ideas off a scientist called Helmuth Nyborg. Here is an accessible interview into the phenomenon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTdMY9RI-7E ~ The validity of this argument depends on the AXIOMS I will have to leave it to more competent researchers to confirm them BUT Regardless, it is IDIOTIC to ignore their argument because of "Feelz" This specific scenario should be discussed as publicly as possible, with a very grave tone. If these guys are right, and mass immigration will cause serious problems The solutions almost all equal blood after a certain point The "Racism" label is a massive obstacle to this Anyone who uses it is favoring some short term gratification for being a White Knight POSSIBLY at the expense of millions of lives We cannot afford to remain unconscious on this issue Willful blindness is Milton's ideal of EVIL ~ On Jordan He doesn't bring these themes up Which gives me hope that the IQ Hereditary research may be wrong It's also possible that he's accidentally created a blind-spot for this argument because of his study of Nazi's He has the habit of saying: "If you ever bring up racial superiority you are OFF THE TABLE." ~ Now to add more difficultly, I began researching BIOLOGY because FACTS are solid: There does seem to be a clear biological argument that "the species" actually split many years ago (60 thousand years) When you track the haplogroup of the Y chromozone (the gene that makes men and tracks Dad's) We ALL seem to have a common ancestor from "Adam" who seemed to live in africa somewhere We derive Haplogroup A,B from this guy (which is dominant in Africa) Then as we move out of Africa the genes evolve. C,D,E,F, All the way to Haplogroup R which is found mainly in Western Europe (Italian, SPainish, French, irish, etc.) Haplogroup H is almost entirely found in just India Haplogroup Q is native Americans Haplogroup O and N are Asian and Siberian ~ Now... THE HYPOTHESIS is that these older Haplogroups A and B evolved to be athletes to deal with deserts and jungles But the Northern genes had to adpat to harsh winters, which essentially meant long term planning which mean abstractions about the future and time, and so put SELECTIVE pressure on high IQ people for thousands of years Which would explain the general band of high IQ's across Eurasia... The problem with this statement: "I mean, isn't the consensus that the species reached essentially the modern intellectual capacity like 15k+ years ago, if not significantly before that?" Is that sexual selection and evolution can be VERY fast. We think it is a slow moving process, but it can work quickly under the right circumstances For example, look at how big Cows are growing compared to their ancestors from 1000 years ago So the Northerners would have had to develop a culture that SELECTS for higher IQ (and perhaps weaker bodies) and playing this out over 1000's of years (say 27 thousand) may have created a meaningful difference I could 100% be wrong about all of this and I am literally stimulating discussion ~ What do you see in this argument, have you thought about it before? How do we resolve it? |

"body": "Everything I am about to talk about IS EXTREMELY UNCONFORMABLE\n\nI am going to explore the possibility that NOT ALL RACES ARE THE SAME\n\nI AM NOT saying this is THE TRUTH, I am trying to discuss this so that we can FIND THE TRUTH\n\n~\n\nMy friends this post was inspired by a discussion on Reddit that got Downvoted into Oblivion\n\nWe were trying to Steelman Richard Spencers worldview WITHOUT agreeing with him.\n\nRichard Spencer is very fatalistic and says: \"Races cannot mix and inevitably end up fighting\"\n\nHis fear is that White peoples idealism will lead to White's allowing other cultures to take them over and will lead to Gulags.\n\nHis solution is to take a stance that is EXTREMELY ethnocentric and focused on White interest.\n\nThis was in The Jordan Peterson sub because: \n\nSpencer hugely violates JBP's stance of Individualism in the face of Identity politics\n\nAnd in exploring this I think I may have Identified a vulnerability in JBP's argument\n\nSo I'm going to STEELMAN the pro-white agenda so as to stir up a decent discussion\n\n~\n\nSo let's engage in a thought experiment:\n\nAxiom One - Democracies fail to function when the populations average IQ drops below 90 points\n\nAxiom Two - Research SEEMS to indicate that IQ is genetic, with Jews, Asians, and European tribes floating around or above 100 IQ points\n\nAxiom Three - Lower IQ demographics like Sub Saharan Africans, Hispanics, and Arabs have a HIGHER FERTILITY RATE than higher IQ populations\n\nThe Story:\n\nThe Values of the Modern West involve diversifying the Gene pool by taking in Huge numbers of Immigrants from Low IQ populations: Middle East, Sub Saharan Africa, and Latin America.\n\nThese trends will unfortunately lower the general IQ, because the Low IQ populations will OUT BREED the high IQ populations\n\nWhen the IQ goes low enough, the democratic institutions and social fabric will collapse.\n\nIn order to establish order a firm Totalitarian politic will need to be instantiated.\n\nThis will involve a tribal or religious war as a weird Neo-Islam and Neo-Nazism fight for power.\n\nRegardless who wins there will be chaos, death, and the creation of a new Violent Patriarchy.\n\nIt may take centuries to recover.\n\n~\n\nThis steel-man of ethnocentrism means we may be looking at A SERIOUS PROBLEM in a few decades IF MY AXIOMS ARE TRUE\n\n~\n\nI sourced these ideas off a scientist called Helmuth Nyborg. Here is an accessible interview into the phenomenon:\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTdMY9RI-7E\n\n~\n\nThe validity of this argument depends on the AXIOMS\n\nI will have to leave it to more competent researchers to confirm them\n\nBUT\n\nRegardless, it is IDIOTIC to ignore their argument because of \"Feelz\"\n\nThis specific scenario should be discussed as publicly as possible, with a very grave tone.\n\nIf these guys are right, and mass immigration will cause serious problems\n\nThe solutions almost all equal blood after a certain point\n\nThe \"Racism\" label is a massive obstacle to this\n\nAnyone who uses it is favoring some short term gratification for being a White Knight\n\nPOSSIBLY at the expense of millions of lives\n\nWe cannot afford to remain unconscious on this issue\n\nWillful blindness is Milton's ideal of EVIL\n\n~\n\nOn Jordan\n\nHe doesn't bring these themes up\n\nWhich gives me hope that the IQ Hereditary research may be wrong\n\nIt's also possible that he's accidentally created a blind-spot for this argument because of his study of Nazi's\n\nHe has the habit of saying: \"If you ever bring up racial superiority you are OFF THE TABLE.\"\n\n~\n\nNow to add more difficultly, I began researching BIOLOGY because FACTS are solid:\n\nThere does seem to be a clear biological argument that \"the species\" actually split many years ago (60 thousand years)\n\nWhen you track the haplogroup of the Y chromozone (the gene that makes men and tracks Dad's)\n\nWe ALL seem to have a common ancestor from \"Adam\" who seemed to live in africa somewhere\n\nWe derive Haplogroup A,B from this guy (which is dominant in Africa)\n\nThen as we move out of Africa the genes evolve.\n\nC,D,E,F,\n\nAll the way to Haplogroup R which is found mainly in Western Europe (Italian, SPainish, French, irish, etc.)\n\nHaplogroup H is almost entirely found in just India\n\nHaplogroup Q is native Americans\n\nHaplogroup O and N are Asian and Siberian\n\n~\n\nNow... THE HYPOTHESIS is that these older Haplogroups A and B evolved to be athletes to deal with deserts and jungles\n\nBut the Northern genes had to adpat to harsh winters, which essentially meant long term planning\n\nwhich mean abstractions about the future and time, and so put SELECTIVE pressure on high IQ people for thousands of years\n\nWhich would explain the general band of high IQ's across Eurasia...\n\nThe problem with this statement: \"I mean, isn't the consensus that the species reached essentially the modern intellectual capacity like 15k+ years ago, if not significantly before that?\"\n\nIs that sexual selection and evolution can be VERY fast. We think it is a slow moving process, but it can work quickly under the right circumstances\n\nFor example, look at how big Cows are growing compared to their ancestors from 1000 years ago\n\nSo the Northerners would have had to develop a culture that SELECTS for higher IQ (and perhaps weaker bodies) and playing this out over 1000's of years (say 27 thousand) may have created a meaningful difference\n\nI could 100% be wrong about all of this and I am literally stimulating discussion\n\n~\n\nWhat do you see in this argument, have you thought about it before? How do we resolve it?",

| body | There is a circuitry within the brain known as the Default Mode Network It is what you use to daydream It has some very interesting functions, mainly it is theorized to create the phenomenon of "YOU Inc." i.e. Your Ego, the centralized self, the capital city of nation You, the CEO's office. The really weird parts of your brain - like the posterior cortex (think of a hard-drive full of all your memories) - send their various ideas to this Default Mode Network Your Default Mode Network then assess' the value of the ideas and organises everything. When you take a large hit of psychedelics the Default Mode Network is muted And all the weird parts of your brain can't centralize communication via the capital city anymore - and so they start sending messages to each other And since the CEO ain't there to organise everything, things get weird. And you feel this as tripping - and Ego death The Interwebs is a Big Brain Now visualize the internet as a mighty big network of neurons, which operates quite similar to a psyche, as in a human mind. The dark web is the shadowy repressed content, like child porn, the political secrets, and arms deals. The original web infrastructure was the first organs of the brain forming: Google becoming the Hippocampus which categorizes and recalls "memories". Web 2.0 - i.e. social media - was the maturity of this "forming brain". Youtube became the visual imagination. Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook the emotional limbic system which tracks ones social status. These social media sites essentially monopolized all the attention online. Web 2.0 became the "mainstream" internet - and it acts much like the Default Mode Network. It is a capital city, it is the CEO, and it is the self consciousness of humanities "meme world". Memes and content flood into social media, and the user's there "choose" what is worth attending to and energizing - like the sun shining on some plants and leaving others in shadow. Whatever memes dominate the attention on Web 2.0 dominate our old world institutions like politics and academia. This monopoly of attention is centralized by a few companies: Zucks and Facebook control instagram, whatsapp, and… Facebook Google controls search and Youtube Evan Williams has Medium and Twitter on lockdown The entire business model for these guys is to sell companies attention. Attention is everything. Combine that with insane cargo's of data and you have targeted attention which is gold for making money. But blockchain sits on the horizon as a way to disrupt this infastructure. Blockchain as Web 3.0 Facebook, Twitter, and the likes are in an insanely powerful position. Even though Facebook literally just had the biggest single day stock market collapse in U.S. history - they are still getting 2.2 billion users every month. For people to stop using something like Facebook would be like turning off the Default Mode Network It would be an absolute Ego Death The internet would have to re-imagine itself. Yet, dawning technologies like Alexa search and Blockchain may actually see this happen. A hit of DMT? The question is of course - how would something like Blockchain take over. It all seems to boil down to incentive. A titan like Facebook has a huge amount of active users there and so there is a huge amount of value there for the users "everyone is on it". How would a blockchain company attract a significant userbase from these giants? When "nobody is on it?" Well first a small culture would have to move, then the "cool kids" would have to follow, and finally the masses. So I guess the question is, who would be the initial cultures to move? Two trends that I can see - there are likely many more (gamers for example): Privacy This is a big deal for people, and this actually is more about owning ones own data. On Facebook you give your data up willingly, and they use it to make money. When people become conscious that they could make money simply by spending time somewhere else they will have a huge incentive to move. The question then is - can Blockchain allow you to effectively control your own data? This also relates to the problem of monetizing content. A Youtuber usually monetizes their content by allowing Youtube to sell companies your attention. In a Blockchain environment - where we could possible represent "attention" as a token - creators could get paid based on how much attention they get. Say we build a social media platform where in order to join you have to give up your data (worth 20k a year for example). Then the company gives you 20k worth of attention tokens that you can spend on the platform paying creators. In return the company sells your data to marketers, who then sell you shit. Problem - the masses don't like complexity - Facebook is "free" in their minds (even though it ain't…) - so you have to equal that deal by making the new platform seem free ("give up your data" is no incentive) Free Speech Community guidelines allow platforms like Facebook to ban people they don't like. e.g. Alex Jones got banned off Facebook recently. This rubs people the wrong way. They want their Default Mode Network to treat everyone as equal - even though it doesn't; it maintains a perspective - and so they see Zucks and Facebook as centralized evil mind controllers - which they aren't, they're just biased liberals who use your data to make moeny. The allure of a decentralized platform is thus very seductive. The idea of a true "jungle" where what wins is simply "that which is focused on" - is attractive to people who don't gel with the political mainstream. For this reason, an initial blockchain platform may see a massive win from a wave of exodus-ed Right Wingers searching for a home Conclusion A new internet is hypothesized to be on the horizon. These social media companies are literally shaping humanities self consciousness at the moment and are a hugely positive force overall. It will be fascinating to see how these titans like Facebook and Twitter adapt or perhaps fall. It will be world changing to see what arises in it's wake. And remember - many people got very rich betting on the right horse when it came to Social Media companies in 2004. The Question: What do you see playing out? |

| title | This Just In: Food Will Make You A Philosopher |
| body | Fuck Authority. Fuck the System. Fuck the Establishment. Walk into the light, the future, the dawning sun of the information revolution my friends. The light of awareness, consciousness, and vision has fallen on what was previously only hidden… previously only assumed… We are in the age of exposure! This dastardly communication channel known as the internet has DEMOCRATIZED information. Everyone can now access scientific papers and legal documents. This means that the internet is democratizing AUTHORITY. The value of claiming to be an expert based on a college degree is being challenged. The title of Doctor, Expert, Scientist, even Professional is being challenged. Any indicator of institutionally verified authority is being challenged. Western Civilization has finally become a teenager! It is both a glorious and sad state of affairs… As we stop trusting authority we become susceptible to the worst mistake any human can ever make: Underestimating just how fucking stupid we really are. Our cognitive biases are designed to keep us in our comfort zone, because your highly evolved body knows that you are an idiot and cares little about your “notions” — it will trick you into playing it safe and sticking to what you know. Remember: In nature — The realm where your body was forged — thinking… meant being perched on a tree not paying attention to your surroundings. You know what happened to the proto-humans that did this too much? They got eaten. That’s why you don’t do it very well. Our genius comes from our behavior as a tribe. We are much more adapted to thinking together. Our premier mode of thinking is outsourcing responsibility to authority figures. We don’t understand medicine — We get Doctors to do that. We don’t understand plumbing — We get Plumbers to do that. And so befalls the secret curse of the internet age — The age of liberated knowledge — The age where authority has minimal value: We have to figure out everything for ourselves. Welcome to The Jungle The point of this article — if there is one — is to prove how much superior my contemplation of these realities are than yours. Trust me — I am a master contemplater. I am a fond student of the practice of getting to the bottom of things so that I can make practical changes to my life. Now this epistemological revolution that I have mentioned above is actually happening. You have heard of the preponderance of Fake News and the dubbing of our Political age as POST TRUTH! Well these are just symptoms of a much larger cultural revolution — of which I have mentioned before. Now discussing this revolution in the abstract suits me — since I am a master contemplator — but I have compassion for your useless brain — and so I am going to choose to talk about this cultural revolution by examining a single field that it is affecting. There are many to choose from: Blockchain, bitcoin, and the disruption of the established (read “trusted”) system in favor of a more democratized one. Politics, Trump, The Media and the sheer inability of anyone to establish a centralized source of information Education, Universities, Youtube, and the declining practicality of getting a degree. All of which alight my mind with beastly thoughts of mindfuckery, but none seem so pragmatic and damn all encompassing as FOOD. Yup. Food. I Hate Using Section Titles But Your Attention Span Is So Fucked That I Have To. Food is where the hammer falls. Oh my days, it covers so much ground. Through me the phrase Food for Thought will become justified. It will be my cogito ergo sum. The thing that matters most to people is Energy — Most people think it’s Money — unless you’re broke, in which case you say it’s “Time” — and the definitive source of Energy comes from Food. I’m a big fan of having a strong mindset — but if you don’t fucking eat — You a dead monkey. How we nourish ourselves determines and insane amount about how optimally we function — it is a keystone habit which is fundamental to several feilds: Productivity and Energy — The vast majority of the self help world. Mental Health and Wellbeing Fitness, Optimal Performance, and Bodily strength Health, Disease, Being a Fat Fuck, and Death. Community and Socialising Sustainability, The Environment Agriculture, Supply lines, Commerce, Supermarkets, Restaurants Medicine, Pharmaceuticals, and Doctors. But most importantly — it forces us to ask a very practical question — which in turn forces us to have a strict criteria for truth — this question is: What is the RIGHT diet for a human being? Here begins your education in the ways of contemplation. The first rule is — You have to make assumptions. You can’t think without them. The best way to think is by testing assumptions. We are going to make the assumption that most of the problems that crop up in the above fields related to diet are due to people having the wrong diet. This means that there is in fact a correct diet for human being to eat that improves their health and performance outcomes. This is the same as saying that there is a true human diet. Title time… How Do We Figure Out What is The Right Diet? You will have to identify fundamental indicators of a healthy diet. Two of these could be: Living longer — If we can discover eating patterns that demonstrably lead to long life we can make an assumption that these eating patterns have merit. Athletic Performance — We can assume that being able to perform at optimal human levels is an indicator of health (BUT NOT LONGEVITY) Let’s take long life — because steroids make the other one a bit of a bitch to navigate — the main goal of long life is not to die. In order for you not to die you should probably take a look at why you will likely die. The leading causes of death in the United States: Heart Attacks Cancer Now you have to try eat in a way that won’t lead you to these problems. Eating in a way that leads to these problems is by our criteria — the wrong diet for a human being. Oh dear internet age revolutionaries… This is where you fail. You see — you think you are so fucking enlightened — but in reality — in order for you to ascertain truth — it will take more than just reading a few articles and then making a decision. You will have to study and know the insane complexities of these problems and then organize strict testing methods to identify their causes — and you don’t have the time to do all this shit. What you need to do is outsource to an authority. Yes. The one thing we were trying to avoid. Yes. You need to learn how to vet “experts” and understand how we ascertain truth. You need to become literate in the methods by which the human race ascertains knowledge! There is really only one: Observation. But there’s many ways we deploy this: Personal Observation — this means eat and see how you feel Scientific Observation — this means designing tests that help us identify patterns and cause and effect relationships. But you probably won’t even figure out how the scientific method is applied in the specific field — because that in and of itself is expert level knowledge. All you can really do is become good at vetting experts as trustworthy or not. Your ability to judge a person may be your only tool. And so, we have come full circle, from destroying the notion of reputation to again becoming it’s slave. But Let’s Get Back To Food The leading cause of death is Heart disease. We have to then look at the field of Heart Disease experts and try to judge if they are trustworthy or not. Unfortuantely there is a spanner in the works. You see — doing Science is not very… profitable So some Scientists and “experts” aren’t adverse to the idea of being bought out. Many of the thought leaders and scientists in the field of nutrition have taken funding from a few industries: The Refined Sugar Industry The Byproduct Oil Industry The Animal Agriculture Industry The Pharmaceutical Industry This means that an amateur like you and I — But especially you — stands no hope of figuring out the signal from the noise in this field. Instead we need to comb through the authorities and find out trustworthy thought leaders. But you do this shit anyway — You’re human after all — and you are not a master contemplator like me — you instinctively listen to people with higher authority than you. But authority is not TRUTH! How do we find the authorities who possess the truth!? This my friends is the real debate. Who Are The Thought Leaders in the Field of Nutrition? Here’s the real head fuck. Before you can identify them as individuals you have to see that they first group into tribes who follow a narrative. Because it’s the narratives that we are really looking for. Luckily there are usually only a few narratives — whereas there are usually a shitload of “experts”. NARRATIVES OPERATE LIKE RELIGIONS — THEY ARE MEMES — BE FUCKING CAREFUL Narratives suck you in — and turn on all your cognitive biases — so that you can’t escape them. They do this by giving you an identity. If you can resist the suck of a narrative — this insight into their identity giving power is one of the most effective ways to vet the experts in a narrative. It’s important to note — I am resistant to this sucking power of narrative’s because my identity is not dependent on their bullshit — I am a master contemplator. The main narrative’s I have found in the nutrition sphere are extremely powerful because they make deep fundamental assumptions about human nature. We really are what we eat: The Standard Industrialized Diet This is the diet that is dying off — and rightly so — it was the diet our grandparents would have eaten — it was reinforced by 20th century marketing — and our grandparents identification as “part of the West”. This involves lots of processed foods and fried foods — it was supported a lot by entrepreneurs taking factory byproducts like soy-oil and re-imagining them as shitty food products that target our taste-buds. Processed food is undoubtedly bad and in an attempt to shed this depression and disease causing diet the internet age has produced two camps: The Vegetarians Better said as plant based — but the people in this group operate under the general narrative that human beings have not evolved to eat animals. This frames human beings as fruit, leaf, and nut eating herbivores. They claim that the driving force behind most of our chronic disease’s is eating things that comes from an animal. Some eat dairy and eggs. The Paleo These people operate under the assumption that when we were cave people we ate animals, vegetables, and fruit. Their narrative is that processed sugar, refined grains like wheat, usually grains like rice, dairy, and legumes are not natural for our digestive systems. These two dimension are not all inclusive — many fall in the middle — and there are other dichotomies (High Carb vs Keto) — but these are the driving narratives —What are we by nature? What has our bodies evolved to eat? So this gives us an awesome criteria — we can watch authorities and see how they are invested in discovering human nature is a certain way. Here’s some homework: These are two lists of the prominent figures in both movements — I recommend studying both and watching how easily your mind gets convinced when you dig in deep. https://nutriciously.com/best-vegan-youtubers/ https://www.paleohacks.com/paleo/the-paleo-guru-guide-a-listing-of-your-favorite-experts-9947 Now I’m going to appeal to an ultimatum in Authority — Scientific Consensus. Luckily for us — Scientists are invested in identifying as good scientists — and luckily for us Science usually achieves decent general results. A meeting was held in 2015 in order to come to a Consensus — This means: The most practical general advice 75 scientists can give you about eating. The remain practical and general because they are scared shitless of being wrong. This doesn’t mean they are right — but it shows us that they are unlikely to have as strong of an agenda as the above camps. https://oldwayspt.org/programs/oldways-common-ground/oldways-common-ground-consensus Their conclusion: “(They endorse) healthy food patterns such as the Mediterranean Diet, Vegetarian Diet and Healthy American Diet. The overall body of evidence examined by the 2015 DGAC identifies that a healthy dietary pattern is higher in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low- or non-fat dairy, seafood, legumes, and nuts; moderate in alcohol (among adults); lower in red and processed meats; and low in sugar-sweetened foods and drinks and refined grains. Additional strong evidence shows that it is not necessary to eliminate food groups or conform to a single dietary pattern to achieve healthy dietary patterns. Rather, individuals can combine foods in a variety of flexible ways to achieve healthy dietary patterns, and these strategies should be tailored to meet the individual’s health needs, dietary preferences and cultural traditions. Current research also strongly demonstrates that regular physical activity promotes health and reduces chronic disease risk.” Boom. This gives us a strong knowledge to work from. A plant based diet is optimal, if you adapt it to yourself, and if you exercise— but you don’t have to exclude animal meat if you don’t want to — just eat it moderately. Now we can move the fuck on and leave it to the biohackers, experiementers, and rebels to challenge this paradigm — and when they accumulate enough evidence to force 75 actual scientists to meet up and change the consensus — then it might be worth listening. |

You know what happened to the proto-humans that did this too much? They got eaten. That’s why you don’t do it very well.\n\nOur genius comes from our behavior as a tribe. We are much more adapted to thinking together.\n\nOur premier mode of thinking is outsourcing responsibility to authority figures.\n\nWe don’t understand medicine — We get Doctors to do that.\n\nWe don’t understand plumbing — We get Plumbers to do that.\n\nAnd so befalls the secret curse of the internet age — The age of liberated knowledge — The age where authority has minimal value:\n\nWe have to figure out everything for ourselves.\n\nWelcome to The Jungle\nThe point of this article — if there is one — is to prove how much superior my contemplation of these realities are than yours.\n\nTrust me — I am a master contemplater.\n\nI am a fond student of the practice of getting to the bottom of things so that I can make practical changes to my life.\n\nNow this epistemological revolution that I have mentioned above is actually happening. You have heard of the preponderance of Fake News and the dubbing of our Political age as POST TRUTH!\n\nWell these are just symptoms of a much larger cultural revolution — of which I have mentioned before.\n\nNow discussing this revolution in the abstract suits me — since I am a master contemplator — but I have compassion for your useless brain — and so I am going to choose to talk about this cultural revolution by examining a single field that it is affecting.\n\nThere are many to choose from:\n\nBlockchain, bitcoin, and the disruption of the established (read “trusted”) system in favor of a more democratized one.\nPolitics, Trump, The Media and the sheer inability of anyone to establish a centralized source of information\nEducation, Universities, Youtube, and the declining practicality of getting a degree.\nAll of which alight my mind with beastly thoughts of mindfuckery, but none seem so pragmatic and damn all encompassing as FOOD.\n\nYup.\n\nFood.\n\nI Hate Using Section Titles But Your Attention Span Is So Fucked That I Have To.\nFood is where the hammer falls.\n\nOh my days, it covers so much ground. Eating in a way that leads to these problems is by our criteria — the wrong diet for a human being.\n\nOh dear internet age revolutionaries…\n\nThis is where you fail.\n\nYou see — you think you are so fucking enlightened — but in reality — in order for you to ascertain truth — it will take more than just reading a few articles and then making a decision.\n\nYou will have to study and know the insane complexities of these problems and then organize strict testing methods to identify their causes — and you don’t have the time to do all this shit.\n\nWhat you need to do is outsource to an authority.\n\nYes. | title | Food and Social Conditioning |
| body | Someone please send this article to Eddie Bravo. Social conditioning is real. It is deeply tied to the idea of propaganda and the founders of modern marketing were involved in this space. There is a dichotomy between the “orchestrators” and the public. The public are like a herd of sheep, that became a huge problem at the turn of the century because of massive populations — bigger than any time before In order to control and lead the masters had to find a way of creating a unified mindset. This was the role religion played in the past, but rationalism had annihilated that. The most effective and stable system people could use was capitalism, and this was good — the alternative was war, communism, and totalitatrian nazism. America thrived with an ideology based on a strong market of willing consumers. But the leaders needed to teach the public how to behave to make this system work. The centruies before we had all been poor farmers, and our habits were self sustaining and frugal — we needed to be taught that buying lots of shit was ok-as active consumers was the key to the system — capitalism-working To teach people how to behave the leaders invested in the experts in crowd psychology of the time. A premier figure was Edward Bernays. He combined an understanding of Freudian psychology with wartime propaganda techniques to become the first true marketer. Many of your modern habits were shaped by this man. If you are a woman who smokes, understand that Bernays is the reason. Women were not smokers, and the tabacco industry approached him looking for a way to get them involved. Bernays got the beautiful actresses at the time to parade through new york smoking cigarettes as a symbol of womens liberation- riding on the coattails of the feminism movement. Women have smoked ever since. The same goes for your breakfast. The egg and sausage industry needed help. They asked bernays. Bernays sent out a survey to all doctors asking: “Do you recommend a hearty breakfast of a light one” Most of the doctors replied: “hearty” Bernays took this quote and used it in a marketing campaign: “Doctors recommend a hearty breakfast-choose sauasages and eggs”. What has arisen in the past century is a culture centred on YOU- the consumer- and your desires. What is interesting is that YOU think that YOU are yourself, but no-you have been crafted by smart white guys like bernays who had a monopoly over the communication systems of the time: newspapers, radio, and TV. You have been conditioned to behave the way you do-this is undeniable-and it’s fucking scary. But everything changed in the 90’s The internet — the interconnected network of computers-sparked a communication revolution Information, news, and ideas, were a lot more freely available. This led to many people beginning to discover just how intense social conditioning had become. The tabacco industry for example had invested huge amounts of money into funding scientific studies that were tinkered with to get the “right” results-and then were promoted in the media. The internet is having the effect of exposing the human race to itself. People are seeing all this information and it’s having one major effect: Mistrust. No longer are the establishments the trusted authorities that they were in the fifties, and they will all slowly lose ground the deeper we get into this century. The great marketing move of these decades will be to associate your brand with anti-establishment-I shit you not. Think of Donald Trumps mantra: drain the swamp-which he claimed he only used because “it got a reaction”. His whole fiasco was a confirmation of american distrust in the establishment. Think of the huge “Fake News” movement that correlated with it. A manifestation of the mistrust people feel for the dishonesty of the media that has repeatedly been demonstrated. Think of Bitcoins rise as an anti-establishment monetary system, despite being in the middle of a terrible technical issue, it’s brand garnered a steamroller of attention. The rebellious quote: “Bitcoin will be everywhere and the world (read establishment) will have to adjust”. We are in an amazing cultural revolution, and it stems from the ability of any citizen to access scientific papers from an iphone in a coffee shop. From bloggers telling the truth about history. And from social media becoming the way people discover ideas-Not regulated television channels. “Whoever controls the media controls the mind” said Jim Morrison. Now we do. One of the most fascinating “revelations” I have been watching is the exposure of the health industry The deep corruption of Monsanto combined with the insane push to medicate the majority of the population is being repeatedly exposed and has garnered massive mistrust in many health authroties. And rightly so-Doctors who misdiagnose people are the third leading cause of death in America. This is the movement: an exposure of the competence of authority versus their “status”. You see life is fucking complex, so we by nature outsource our thinking to society. Whoever we percieve to be of the highest authority we will listen to. The authorities we trusted in the 20th century have betrayed our trust. Now we are self-educating. It is a difficult territory to pick apart, but I think that the first thing to mention is that your diet is wrong. The sugar industry (sweets, added sugar, and refined cereals) and the animal agriculture industry (eggs, dairy, and meat) have been repeatedly exposed as funding scientific studies much in the same way as the tobacco industry was. The core thing to understand here is your gut bacteria-and what is beautifully ironic is that this very concept will challenge the notion of an individual consumer you have been conditioned to see yourself as. You are not an individual Your thoughts are not yours. You have a nerve that runs down into your gut and all the bacteria that live there can send chemicals up through it to make you crave food. Most of your serotonin and dopamine are made here, these are the molecules that make up your conscious reality. Many anti-depressants act on the serotonin receptors. The absolute key to health is a healthy gut bacteria. The only way to achieve this is to feed them. When we eat a plant food there is a portion of it which we cannot digest-this is called fiber. the fiber that makes it to our gut is eaten by the bacteria that lives there. The single variable that you need to focus on for health is having a high fiber intake. With a well fed gut bacteria you will have optimal production of serotonin, essentially acting as an innate anti-depressant. Your gut bacteria will cover your intestines properly, and stop allowing food particles to leak into your bloodstream-which cause a shitshow of chronic diseases through inflammation. The absolute nemesis of a healthy gut is PROCESSED sugar. Processed sugar feeds the bad bacteria like Candida. This causes widespread inflammation and a leaky gut. Combine that with eating animal products, which leak through your shitty gut and fill your arteries up with cholesterol and damage your pancreas, and you have the modern Western diet and the chronic depression and heart disease epidemics. The sugar and fat industry have been at war for one hundred years, which has led to your morning bagel, cornflakes and milk, butter on toast, refined orange juice, sausages, eggs, cholesterol statins, and antidepressants breakfast. The correct diet is a wholefood plant based diet. The people with the best life outcomes have eaten this diet. See the blue zone diet. This is what will be exposed over the next few decades. The sheer bullshit we have been feeding ourselves. As people adopt this expect life expectancy to increase, IQ to rise, and depression rates to relax. This is where I pivot back into cultural consciousness. The 20th century conditioned us to be a consumer and factory orientated citizenship. It was the cult of “me”. Our whole amazingly crafted reality of comfort and luxury has been forged by the hands of slaves in asia, cheap labour workers, sexless techheads who spent their best years staring at screens, and massive amounts of death. This is the interplay of the consciousness of a people combined with the unconscious forces that drive it-that is-the crucial things that support it that it is not aware of. The Collective Mind Just like in Nazi German, the people would have been caught up in the image fashioned by Gobbels of the nobel and strong aryan heritage possessed by all the “German people” was their conscious reality-underneath that was the dark unconscious forces of ethnic cleansing and war. But unconscious forces don’t usually remain hidden for long, and when the media at the time began to expose the Holocaust to the world-we recoiled in shock-we had no idea we had that in us. The next 75 years was a time of tender focus on social justice as we tried to cleanse oursleves of the guilt. My prediction is a simple one. There is another unconscious horror at play. Since we began factory farming and combined it with the cult of me where we condition people to consume wildly in order to fulfill their own desires-we have begun churning animals into slaughterhouses at incredible rates. 65 billion per year at the moment. This has gone fairly unquestioned due to the human value system excluding animals, and some convenient cultural mantras like: “humane killing”. The arrival of the new media systems on the internet are going to deeply expose the slaughterhouse culture that runs beneath our civilization. We are going to watch animals be skinned alive on conveyor belts and recoil in shock. This will lead to a rise in the cultural phenomenon called veganism, which will become a mainstream social justice movement similar to the black rights movement of the 60's. A Ghandi or Martin Luther King like figure will emerge with sufficient charisma and scientific chops to bring this movement mainstream. It will centre around giving voice to the voiceless — lacking a voice is the main reason we consider animals subhuman-biblically the logos is what makes us divine-and thus worthy of rights. It will be the dominant dietary force, and depending on how the scienctific arguments plays out (meat currently seems non-essential to optimal human health… but there lots of misinformation so can’t be said for sure) we could see an amendment in many western countries that grant animals the right to life-excluding human self defense. |

A premier figure was Edward Bernays.\n\nHe combined an understanding of Freudian psychology with wartime propaganda techniques to become the first true marketer.\n\nMany of your modern habits were shaped by this man. If you are a woman who smokes, understand that Bernays is the reason.\n\nWomen were not smokers, and the tabacco industry approached him looking for a way to get them involved.\n\nBernays got the beautiful actresses at the time to parade through new york smoking cigarettes as a symbol of womens liberation- riding on the coattails of the feminism movement.\n\nWomen have smoked ever since.\n\nThe same goes for your breakfast. The egg and sausage industry needed help. They asked bernays.\n\nBernays sent out a survey to all doctors asking: “Do you recommend a hearty breakfast of a light one”\n\nMost of the doctors replied: “hearty”\n\nBernays took this quote and used it in a marketing campaign: “Doctors recommend a hearty breakfast-choose sauasages and eggs”.\n\nWhat has arisen in the past century is a culture centred on YOU- the consumer- and your desires.\n\nWhat is interesting is that YOU think that YOU are yourself, but no-you have been crafted by smart white guys like bernays who had a monopoly over the communication systems of the time: newspapers, radio, and TV.\n\nYou have been conditioned to behave the way you do-this is undeniable-and it’s fucking scary.\n\nBut everything changed in the 90’s\n\nThe internet — the interconnected network of computers-sparked a communication revolution\nInformation, news, and ideas, were a lot more freely available. This led to many people beginning to discover just how intense social conditioning had become.\n\nThe tabacco industry for example had invested huge amounts of money into funding scientific studies that were tinkered with to get the “right” results-and then were promoted in the media.\n\nThe internet is having the effect of exposing the human race to itself. People are seeing all this information and it’s having one major effect: Mistrust.\n\nNo longer are the establishments the trusted authorities that they were in the fifties, and they will all slowly lose ground the deeper we get into this century.\n\nThe great marketing move of these decades will be to associate your brand with anti-establishment-I shit you not.\n\nThink of Donald Trumps mantra: drain the swamp-which he claimed he only used because “it got a reaction”. His whole fiasco was a confirmation of american distrust in the establishment.\n\nThink of the huge “Fake News” movement that correlated with it. A manifestation of the mistrust people feel for the dishonesty of the media that has repeatedly been demonstrated.\n\nThink of Bitcoins rise as an anti-establishment monetary system, despite being in the middle of a terrible technical issue, it’s brand garnered a steamroller of attention. The rebellious quote: “Bitcoin will be everywhere and the world (read establishment) will have to adjust”.\n\nWe are in an amazing cultural revolution, and it stems from the ability of any citizen to access scientific papers from an iphone in a coffee shop. From bloggers telling the truth about history. And from social media becoming the way people discover ideas-Not regulated television channels.\n\n“Whoever controls the media controls the mind” said Jim Morrison. Now we do.\n\nOne of the most fascinating “revelations” I have been watching is the exposure of the health industry\nThe deep corruption of Monsanto combined with the insane push to medicate the majority of the population is being repeatedly exposed and has garnered massive mistrust in many health authroties.\n\nAnd rightly so-Doctors who misdiagnose people are the third leading cause of death in America.\n\nThis is the movement: an exposure of the competence of authority versus their “status”.\n\nYou see life is fucking complex, so we by nature outsource our thinking to society. Whoever we percieve to be of the highest authority we will listen to. The authorities we trusted in the 20th century have betrayed our trust. Now we are self-educating.\n\nIt is a difficult territory to pick apart, but I think that the first thing to mention is that your diet is wrong.\n\nThe sugar industry (sweets, added sugar, and refined cereals) and the animal agriculture industry (eggs, dairy, and meat) have been repeatedly exposed as funding scientific studies much in the same way as the tobacco industry was.\n\nThe core thing to understand here is your gut bacteria-and what is beautifully ironic is that this very concept will challenge the notion of an individual consumer you have been conditioned to see yourself as.\n\nYou are not an individual\nYour thoughts are not yours. You have a nerve that runs down into your gut and all the bacteria that live there can send chemicals up through it to make you crave food.\n\nMost of your serotonin and dopamine are made here, these are the molecules that make up your conscious reality. Many anti-depressants act on the serotonin receptors.\n\nThe absolute key to health is a healthy gut bacteria. The only way to achieve this is to feed them.\n\nWhen we eat a plant food there is a portion of it which we cannot digest-this is called fiber. the fiber that makes it to our gut is eaten by the bacteria that lives there.\n\nThe single variable that you need to focus on for health is having a high fiber intake. With a well fed gut bacteria you will have optimal production of serotonin, essentially acting as an innate anti-depressant.\n\nYour gut bacteria will cover your intestines properly, and stop allowing food particles to leak into your bloodstream-which cause a shitshow of chronic diseases through inflammation.\n\nThe absolute nemesis of a healthy gut is PROCESSED sugar. Processed sugar feeds the bad bacteria like Candida. This causes widespread inflammation and a leaky gut.\n\nCombine that with eating animal products, which leak through your shitty gut and fill your arteries up with cholesterol and damage your pancreas, and you have the modern Western diet and the chronic depression and heart disease epidemics.\n\nThe sugar and fat industry have been at war for one hundred years, which has led to your morning bagel, cornflakes and milk, butter on toast, refined orange juice, sausages, eggs, cholesterol statins, and antidepressants breakfast.\n\nThe correct diet is a wholefood plant based diet. The people with the best life outcomes have eaten this diet. See the blue zone diet. This is what will be exposed over the next few decades. The sheer bullshit we have been feeding ourselves.\n\nAs people adopt this expect life expectancy to increase, IQ to rise, and depression rates to relax.\n\nThis is where I pivot back into cultural consciousness. The 20th century conditioned us to be a consumer and factory orientated citizenship. It was the cult of “me”.\n\nOur whole amazingly crafted reality of comfort and luxury has been forged by the hands of slaves in asia, cheap labour workers, sexless techheads who spent their best years staring at screens, and massive amounts of death.\n\nThis is the interplay of the consciousness of a people combined with the unconscious forces that drive it-that is-the crucial things that support it that it is not aware of.\n\nThe Collective Mind\nJust like in Nazi German, the people would have been caught up in the image fashioned by Gobbels of the nobel and strong aryan heritage possessed by all the “German people” was their conscious reality-underneath that was the dark unconscious forces of ethnic cleansing and war.\n\nBut unconscious forces don’t usually remain hidden for long, and when the media at the time began to expose the Holocaust to the world-we recoiled in shock-we had no idea we had that in us. The next 75 years was a time of tender focus on social justice as we tried to cleanse oursleves of the guilt.\n\nMy prediction is a simple one.\n\nThere is another unconscious horror at play. Since we began factory farming and combined it with the cult of me where we condition people to consume wildly in order to fulfill their own desires-we have begun churning animals into slaughterhouses at incredible rates.\n\n65 billion per year at the moment.\n\nThis has gone fairly unquestioned due to the human value system excluding animals, and some convenient cultural mantras like: “humane killing”.\n\nThe arrival of the new media systems on the internet are going to deeply expose the slaughterhouse culture that runs beneath our civilization. We are going to watch animals be skinned alive on conveyor belts and recoil in shock.\n\nThis will lead to a rise in the cultural phenomenon called veganism, which will become a mainstream social justice movement similar to the black rights movement of the 60's.\n\nA Ghandi or Martin Luther King like figure will emerge with sufficient charisma and scientific chops to bring this movement mainstream.\n\nIt will centre around giving voice to the voiceless — lacking a voice is the main reason we consider animals subhuman-biblically the logos is what makes us divine-and thus worthy of rights.\n\nIt will be the dominant dietary force, and depending on how the scienctific arguments plays out (meat currently seems non-essential to optimal human health… but there lots of misinformation so can’t be said for sure) we could see an amendment in many western countries that grant animals the right to life-excluding human self defense.",

| title | My Humble Journey Forward |
| body | I began my twenties with the goal of being a successful artist. Last summer, at 24, after a breakup — I sat lonely in a city I’d lived in for 4 years, stone fucking broke, with a chronic hip injury, and no team of creators around me. Humble pie is bitter. Damn. These hefty setbacks stunned me into a state of “shutting the fuck up” and “paying fucking attention”. Almost immediately, after taking away the insane drive to do things exactly the way I wanted to do them, I let go. This created space in my mind. It allowed me to actually see what was going on and act on it. A new perspective. I had an insane work ethic, but it was no use. Deep down there were things I was avoiding, because they scared me, and so all my work ethic was good for was digging in the wrong direction. I needed to go to the fear Fear-driven Behaviour What was I afraid of? Judgement. Peoples judgement. People’s evaluation of my “worth”. This means that all the places I needed to be: Meeting new people, asserting my real personality, and on fucking stage telling stories were places I avoided being. I would rationalize this by over-preparing. I didn’t feel ready, so I would “practice” music and write and think — all in preparation for “the big show”. Waiting until I was good enough. Those hard times from last year grounded me. They made me confront these fears and be honest with them. They made me admit that I had no fucking idea what I was doing. So after shutting the fuck up for a few months and paying attention I’ve started trying to take action in alignment with fucking reality instead of my “wish” for how the world is. You know what I learned? Your emotions are not fucking stupid. Your fear is a doorway so much superior to hard work. In fact, if you actually just go through those little doorways of fear consistently, like bringing up the thing you don’t want to bring up with her or confronting him or getting up on that stage. You grow in a way that preparation could never do for you. If you give respect to your fears and try to overcome them gradually, then your hard work actually starts to pay off — because it has direction. My Current Hypothesis This “ungroundedness” of youth is brutal when reality arrives at the door. BUT — Getting slapped hard by reality gives you such a golden opportunity to up your fucking game — IF you can readjust your fundamental assumptions and spend some time with your fundamental motivations. My original hypothesis was: “I can literally do anything I set my mind to all by myself really fucking fast.” I tested this hypothesis by practicing music all day in isolation and writing all day in isolation expecting to be successful in a year or two. Now my new hypothesis is to set my mind to becoming the man on the other side of fear. My Current Work The way I survived last year was by teaching English. This sheltered and fed me. I am absolutely blessed to have a lot of enthusiasm, a high IQ, and good social skills. None of this is earned, these were gifts I got from my parents — my Mum is very smart, and my Dad is action oriented and social. Gratitude. Literally, I’m so fucking lucky. Thank you my ancestors, my society, I am blessed. I applied these skills to English teaching while I chased my career as a creator and performer. Man, this gig real grew into something — Literally on reputation alone I began to get hired into corporations to teach their staff. My big goal now is integration. I have been taking action for a while now, and patiently observing what happens. On the performance side of things — facing your fears is gold — as are communication skills —and the ability to articulate your thoughts… …All things which I cultivate within myself in order to be a successful performer. I have noticed an incredible burden on the shoulders of many of these people I have been teaching — and it has been their inability to express themselves, and articulate. I assumed it was English not being their native language at first, but it seems deeper than that, it’s fear. The same fear I felt — fear of being judged. So in a practical sense I am tasked with teaching my students the way of the English language — The pragmatic “devil in the details” grammar work — but deeper than that I’ve found a profound piece of gold… I can empower them to overcome their emotions. Acting On A Pattern This has led me down the road of “soft skills” — which are communication skills in essence. I see how it all fits together — my obsession with self expression, my obsession with facing fear, and my ability to teach. The content I see myself producing over the next while will be a document of my journey to try integrate all these moving parts. The insight into fear, success, and communication I harvest from my performances and interactions And my attempts to teach these insights to my array of students. |

| title | The Viking Mythology |
| body | The Vikings made a prominent impression in Northern Europe during the five hundred years after Rome fell (500 AD - 1000 AD). They were descended from very ancient Germanic tribes that would have migrated into Europe from the middle east, and like all old cultures they carried with them a set of mythological stories which they called tradition. This tradition would have been their religion and the stories would be equivalent to the written stories of the Jewish Testaments. This tradition was a great narrative tale that was passed down via word of mouth in order to help each new generation understand how the Vikings were connected to their extremely harsh Northern Europe environment. It is essentially a novel that was wrote by an entire culture over the course of a thousand years, without ever putting it to paper. The only way we know about this narrative is from a set of texts wrote in Iceland after Christianity outgrew the Vikings influence: known as the Poetic Edda, the Prose Edda and the Saga of the Volsungs. In this article I am going to give an overview of their wonderful hidden story, and highlight one of their most fantastic characters. The Abyss Have you ever sat in a quiet room and really started listening? Pretty soon you ears become so eager to hear something that they pick up all these weird high frequency noises that we call white noise. In the beginning of the Norse universe there was this great emptiness called Ginnungap, and it was nothingness: like a sky without stars. On either side of this Abyss lay the positive: fire and the negative: ice. These pair creeped toward each other and met in the Ginnungap, creating a white noise which the Norse called Ymir. Ymir is Germanic for Scream, in the same way that the high frequency white noise of silence can strangely seem like a scream. It is allegorical of how positively charged electrons meeting negatively charged electrons create what we call a current of electricity. Ymir, this screaming current, began to sweat from the intensity of the mixing fire and ice that created him: Imagine the Big Bang as a big scream. This sweat evaporated in the fire, but rolled down and formed new beings in the ice. One of these was a cow called Audhumbla. She began licking the salty residue on the ice and then produced milk that relaxed the manic Ymir. Odin The All Father Audhumbla's persistent licking of the ice eventually revealed new beings, and the first ever God then arrived known as Buri. One of Buri's grandsons was named Odin. Odin was rebellious by nature and convinced his two brothers that Ymir, this strange sweating monster, needed to be killed in order to make something out of his corpse. So they murdered him and tore apart his body to fashion the universe. They used his blood to make the oceans, his flesh to make the earth and his skull to make the dome of the sky. Odin hence defined his role as a creator, but it was not in the all knowing tradition of the Christian God Yahweh. Odin was more like an experimental punk rock musician, whereas Yahweh was a classical music composer. Odin set about discovering knowledge, having experience and creating art just to see what would happen. Look at the above picture of the electromagnetic spectrum. You can see that there is a broad range of light, but only a tiny fraction is visible to us. The Norse imagined reality as part of similar spectrum, there were a whole range of realities. At one end of the reality spectrum there lived a group of beings called the Aesir. The Aesir were Gods who lived in a place called Asgard, meaning above world (perhaps the Gamma rays in the above picture). On the opposite end was a place called Helheim, meaning underworld (perhaps the Radio waves in the above picture) which also leant its name to the Christian underworld Hell. Odin in one of his art projects created a middle world known as Midgard, which lends it's name to Tolkien's middle earth. In Midgard Odin created humans from a set of tree trunks, and so defined that Midgard would be the human realm (like the tiny band of visible light in the above picture.) The World Tree Like our spectrum of light the Norse had a symbol for the spectrum of reality. They called this symbol Yggdrasil and it was their World Tree. Odin would climb down the world tree to visit Helheim or the humans in Midgard, and any person inclined to find Yggdrasil, could journey through the various worlds themselves. Why would Odin travel Yggdrasil down to Hell? Surely Heaven is a better place to hang out? This is where Odin's defining trait is revealed. Odin is a seeker of knowledge, his only real care it to have intense experiences which will grant him access to greater powers. He would travel to the depths of Hell if he had an inclination that it would teach him a skill that he could utilize to gain more power. This is where his name "The master of ecstasy" derives from, Odin desires the experience of intensity, and to master himself during these moments. The Norse understood reality as a computer program. Yggdrasil would have been the operating system in which the computer program ran on. Odin would have been a mercurial hacker who zoomed around the operating system adding in his own gliches and banners. To be able to hack a computer successfully you need to understand the coding language, like java script. The better you understand this language the better you can alter the program. The Runes The Runes are the symbolic letters of the Norse language. Odin figured that the Runes were the coding language of the program which we consider reality. He believe that fluency in the Runes could lead someone to be able to reprogram Yggdrasil to suit their needs. This is obviously and incredible skill, so incredible that Odin went to find out where he could learn them. At the bottom of Yggdrasil was a well called The Well of Urd which Yggdrasil drew its nourishing waters from. Around this well stood three ladies known as Norns. The Norns were like programmers for Yggdrasil, they scratched Runes into it's roots and as the nourishment moved up through the tree it would blossom into reality. These Norns were the scriptwriters of Destiny and the language they used was the Runes, hence the Norse word for Destiny is called Wyrd: Where we derive the English word and weird. Odin heard this, and decided to descend down to the very deep of Yggdrasil and learn of the power of these Runes. He hung himself from the tree and stared into the water so as to peer into their depths and figure out their secrets. But nothing happend. He waited for nine days hanging from the tree and just as he nearly died, the runes revealed themselves beneath the waters of the well. In that moment he was exalted. He had now discovered the language of Yggdrasil and brought this knowledge back to Midgard to teach all who proved themselves worthy of how to reprogram reality. By scratching these symbols onto Yggdrasil's trunk Odin could alter it's destiny, essentially hacking the code that the Norns had written. Why was Odin so hungry for knowledge and power? Odin seemed to know deep down that he was going to one day die: death was Odin's ultimate destiny. He did not want this, he wanted to beat death. So he spent his time searching for ways to overcome this great obstacle and grant himself the ultimate strength: immortality. Hence he searched for the Runes to hack Yggdrasil and rewrite his own destiny. The End But he could not rewrite Yggdrasil's destiny. Eventually the operating system for the program has to turn off. This is the end of Yggdrasil, when everything gets destroyed including Odin since he is part of its contents. Odin's great struggle would be coming to terms with this: that he cannot live forever. In order to have a good life he must accept his destiny of mortality: he must learn to love his destiny. This great event is known as Ragnarok: the Twilight of the Idols. This is the moment at the end of the great story when everything reverse's and reality disintegrates falling back into Ginnungap: like how a computer game just flashes into a silent black screen when the plug is pulled on the computer. Eternal Recurrence Now the whole story has come full circle. We arrive back at Ginnungap, The supreme silence. Over time the edges of Ginnungap form fire and ice and these slowly making their way towards each other to form Ymir... Again, Who discovers Audhumbla... Again, who reveals Buri... Again. This becomes the great cosmological cycle, where reality is born, lives and dies only to be born again. Now you may have noticed I have left out many great figures from the Norse story that you are familiar with such as Thor, Valhalla and Loki, but I believe that this narrative (Odin and Yggdrasil) is the central story in which to get to know initially, so that all other characters and stories fall into place when you choose. I'll leave you with some recommended reading from a great author on the subject of the Germanic Worldview known as Dan McCoy. |

"title": "The Viking Mythology",
"body": "The Vikings made a prominent impression in Northern Europe during the five hundred years after Rome fell (500 AD - 1000 AD). They were descended from very ancient Germanic tribes that would have migrated into Europe from the middle east, and like all old cultures they carried with them a set of mythological stories which they called tradition. This tradition would have been their religion and the stories would be equivalent to the written stories of the Jewish Testaments.\n\nThis tradition was a great narrative tale that was passed down via word of mouth in order to help each new generation understand how the Vikings were connected to their extremely harsh Northern Europe environment. It is essentially a novel that was wrote by an entire culture over the course of a thousand years, without ever putting it to paper. The only way we know about this narrative is from a set of texts wrote in Iceland after Christianity outgrew the Vikings influence: known as the Poetic Edda, the Prose Edda and the Saga of the Volsungs.\n\nIn this article I am going to give an overview of their wonderful hidden story, and highlight one of their most fantastic characters.\n\nThe Abyss\n\nHave you ever sat in a quiet room and really started listening? Pretty soon you ears become so eager to hear something that they pick up all these weird high frequency noises that we call white noise. In the beginning of the Norse universe there was this great emptiness called Ginnungap, and it was nothingness: like a sky without stars. On either side of this Abyss lay the positive: fire and the negative: ice. These pair creeped toward each other and met in the Ginnungap, creating a white noise which the Norse called Ymir.\n\nYmir is Germanic for Scream, in the same way that the high frequency white noise of silence can strangely seem like a scream. She began licking the salty residue on the ice and then produced milk that relaxed the manic Ymir.\n\nOdin The All Father\n\nAudhumbla's persistent licking of the ice eventually revealed new beings, and the first ever God then arrived known as Buri. One of Buri's grandsons was named Odin. Odin was rebellious by nature and convinced his two brothers that Ymir, this strange sweating monster, needed to be killed in order to make something out of his corpse. So they murdered him and tore apart his body to fashion the universe. They used his blood to make the oceans, his flesh to make the earth and his skull to make the dome of the sky.\n\nOdin hence defined his role as a creator, but it was not in the all knowing tradition of the Christian God Yahweh. Odin was more like an experimental punk rock musician, whereas Yahweh was a classical music composer. Odin set about discovering knowledge, having experience and creating art just to see what would happen.\n\n\n\nLook at the above picture of the electromagnetic spectrum. On the opposite end was a place called Helheim, meaning underworld (perhaps the Radio waves in the above picture) which also leant its name to the Christian underworld Hell.\n\nOdin in one of his art projects created a middle world known as Midgard, which lends it's name to Tolkien's middle earth. In Midgard Odin created humans from a set of tree trunks, and so defined that Midgard would be the human realm (like the tiny band of visible light in the above picture.)\n\nThe World Tree\n\nLike our spectrum of light the Norse had a symbol for the spectrum of reality. They called this symbol Yggdrasil and it was their World Tree. Odin would climb down the world tree to visit Helheim or the humans in Midgard, and any person inclined to find Yggdrasil, could journey through the various worlds themselves.\n\nWhy would Odin travel Yggdrasil down to Hell? Surely Heaven is a better place to hang out? This is where Odin's defining trait is revealed. Odin is a seeker of knowledge, his only real care it to have intense experiences which will grant him access to greater powers. He would travel to the depths of Hell if he had an inclination that it would teach him a skill that he could utilize to gain more power. This is where his name \"The master of ecstasy\" derives from, Odin desires the experience of intensity, and to master himself during these moments.\n\nThe Norse understood reality as a computer program. Yggdrasil would have been the operating system in which the computer program ran on. Odin would have been a mercurial hacker who zoomed around the operating system adding in his own gliches and banners. To be able to hack a computer successfully you need to understand the coding language, like java script. The better you understand this language the better you can alter the program.\n\nThe Runes\n\nThe Runes are the symbolic letters of the Norse language. Odin figured that the Runes were the coding language of the program which we consider reality. He believe that fluency in the Runes could lead someone to be able to reprogram Yggdrasil to suit their needs. This is obviously and incredible skill, so incredible that Odin went to find out where he could learn them.\n\nAt the bottom of Yggdrasil was a well called The Well of Urd which Yggdrasil drew its nourishing waters from. Around this well stood three ladies known as Norns. The Norns were like programmers for Yggdrasil, they scratched Runes into it's roots and as the nourishment moved up through the tree it would blossom into reality. These Norns were the scriptwriters of Destiny and the language they used was the Runes, hence the Norse word for Destiny is called Wyrd: Where we derive the English word and weird.\n\nOdin heard this, and decided to descend down to the very deep of Yggdrasil and learn of the power of these Runes. He hung himself from the tree and stared into the water so as to peer into their depths and figure out their secrets.\n\nBut nothing happend.\n\n\nHe waited for nine days hanging from the tree and just as he nearly died, the runes revealed themselves beneath the waters of the well. In that moment he was exalted. He had now discovered the language of Yggdrasil and brought this knowledge back to Midgard to teach all who proved themselves worthy of how to reprogram reality. By scratching these symbols onto Yggdrasil's trunk Odin could alter it's destiny, essentially hacking the code that the Norns had written.\n\nWhy was Odin so hungry for knowledge and power? Odin seemed to know deep down that he was going to one day die: death was Odin's ultimate destiny. He did not want this, he wanted to beat death. So he spent his time searching for ways to overcome this great obstacle and grant himself the ultimate strength: immortality. Hence he searched for the Runes to hack Yggdrasil and rewrite his own destiny.\n\nThe End\n\nBut he could not rewrite Yggdrasil's destiny. Eventually the operating system for the program has to turn off. This is the end of Yggdrasil, when everything gets destroyed including Odin since he is part of its contents. Odin's great struggle would be coming to terms with this: that he cannot live forever. In order to have a good life he must accept his destiny of mortality: he must learn to love his destiny.\n\nThis great event is known as Ragnarok: the Twilight of the Idols. This is the moment at the end of the great story when everything reverse's and reality disintegrates falling back into Ginnungap: like how a computer game just flashes into a silent black screen when the plug is pulled on the computer.\n\nEternal Recurrence\n\nNow the whole story has come full circle. We arrive back at Ginnungap, The supreme silence. Over time the edges of Ginnungap form fire and ice and these slowly making their way towards each other to form Ymir... Again, Who discovers Audhumbla... Again, who reveals Buri... Again.
