I want to feed people’s hearts and minds, provide them with shelter and warmth. I want to create the space for allowing all things to flow, as a great valley, and to keep my word with the unshakeable integrity of a mountain. I want unbounded positive energy, drive, and passion. I want to be fit and trim and be a peak performer. I want a bright smile and glowing radiant skin. I want to give freely with no expectation of reward. I want to be a lifelong learner. I want friends and companions having a shared set of values with whom to gain memorable experiences. Friends, clients and colleagues love me because I am kind, thoughtful, intelligent, and trustworthy. The woman of my dreams is caring, empathetic, free-spirited, intuitive, smart, funny and healthy in body and mind.\n\nThis is aimed at thinkers, feelers, diplomats and skeptics alike, those seeking answers but for whom traditions and conventional wisdom couldn’t paint the whole picture, who can’t help but take media and advertising with a large grain of salt, who know that there’s more to life than a job, a house, and a car with the occasional vacation. My work is to reposition the individual in the heart of experience and in the driver’s seat of life, not just a passenger along for the ride, to decondition the convoluted psyche to cultivate space for being and the freedom to create, to cultivate compassion, to induce a positive self trance, and to be a guided meditation. \n\nI aim to write only when I am inspired to do so. If I’m having a block, I won’t attempt to force words. My creativity has no timeframe or deadline. It must be spontaneous. However, I feel it’s important to make a habit of writing, to make it a regular practice. It shall be done when it’s done. You can’t rush art. Can a task that *needs* completing be considered art? I produce content for my own enjoyment and not to meet outside expectations. The minute I feel I am externally motivated is the minute it feels like work. If my writing helps one person, then I feel I have given something of value. And in fact, that one person is me. Writing and sharing content helps bring clarity to my motivations and keeps me honest and accountable. I loathe hypocrisy, so publishing my work forces me to practice what I preach. Through action, learning, and reflection I am able to accelerate my growth. My willingness to share comes from my own desire for self-improvement.       "body": ">## *\"Wealth is not how much money is in the bank but how readily we can influence the needs of others.\"*\n\nIn an earlier post where we discussed [delayed gratification](https://steemit.com/life/@steadytoken/6-gratitude-now-40-days-of-self-appreciation), I gave the analogy of the small candy bar now and the big candy bar later. With regard to financial health I argued that we should forgo the immediate pleasure of spending money in favor of investing with an expectation of earning a return in the future. Being savvy consumers, we opt to save and invest in hopes of achieving that big candy bar later. But at the end of the day, it is still a candy bar. What is the nature and significance of the financial reward signified by said candy bar? Is it just more money, or is it the things money can buy? This is what we will examine presently. \n\nhttps://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPQUDXbBYjuDwT8Ygo5dZBfMJCHo7Kr141RTXb8bMdPAU/image.png\n\nYou see, the reward of more money later still leaves in question the following: What is money and why is it important to us? Why is more money better than less? What does having money allow us to be, do or have? These are philosophical questions that only the individual can answer. Money may mean different things to different people, and that is fine. However, if you do not have a clear answer for yourself, you are likely to suffer pain and confusion no matter how financially well off you appear to be. I want to call into question some deeply imbedded beliefs we seem to hold in hopes of getting you to reevaluate the significance of money in your life. We all agree more money is better, but why? How many of us also believe more money means more problems? Do we hold conflicting views of the same subject? It seems the reward of more money later only gets us more expensive possessions - cars, homes, clothes, vacations, etc. There’s nothing wrong with having nice things. The danger comes when we equate possessions to higher social status. This is a fallacy - that our possessions determine our social status and further, that our status determines our self worth. This is worth exploring further. Consider the following: \n\n(1) *Is it possible to have status without having possessions?* \n(2) *Is it possible to have self-worth without having social status?*\n\n I can easily give a counterexample to the first one. Gandhi didn’t need to be financially rich in order to be famous. The second assertion, however, I cannot as easily refute. That is to say one may have self-worth having no status whatsoever. It appears our self-esteem is intimately connected to our reputation. Looking deeper we find that other people’s opinion of us is actually a projection of our own mind, so it is futile to concern ourselves with others’ opinions. We can not assume we are either universally loved or hated. We don’t need to be loved by everyone, but we do need to feel that our contribution is valued within a community. This is where we derive meaning and a purpose for living and might actually be our most primary purpose of life. Without a sense of community we lack the motivation needed to continue living. Isolation is almost certain death. A monk who secludes up into the mountains may experience serenity for a while, but how long will he survive without social contact of any kind? He will likely make friends with the other creatures to fulfill this primal urge. No one is ever truly alone. It is here we arrive at our first conclusion: It is neither money nor possessions we are after but merely validation from our peers. Money is the tool and resource through which to interact with the community, and hence, money is construed as a symbol of virtue. Money is the scoreboard of your social impact, and this perpetuates the logic that says more is better. I would argue though that money does not necessarily equate to status but rather to the potential to have influence. It is only by our impact on society that we gain status. Does the fact money equates to influence suggest that the inverse is true - that the lack of money implies a lack of influence? I think not.\n\nIn addition to buying possessions, money gives us the freedom to choose how we spend our time. The game of money is a two-sided coin determined both by what we earn as well as what we spend. We don’t need a lot of money if we don’t plan to spend a lot. If we give more value than we consume, we unlock the recipe for wealth. Wealth is not how much money is in the bank but how readily we can influence the needs of others. As long as we are needy and dependent upon others, we are not wealthy. Wealth is financial freedom and self-sovereignty. The more we are able to give, the more valuable we are to society. We don’t actually need money; we need food, shelter, and love. The degree to which we provide those things to others determines our social net worth.\n\nI will leave you with two bits of advice. First, be mindful of how you spend your time. What kinds of experiences do you deem valuable? The kinds of experiences you want to have determines how much money you need to earn. Second, choose wisely which communities to become involved with, which you want to see flourish, and from which you may reap the rewards it has to offer. The quality of your social ties strongly correlates with your sense of purpose and self worth.",

Is the cell anxious and worried about its own mortality? The cell is programmed to grow, multiply, and die in a timely manner. When the cell quietly departs from the physical realm, it enriches the surroundings with vital resources. All the information is retained and recycled by laying the foundation for the next cellular generation. The information is transformed and returned back to the very soup of creation that spawned it. Soon that individual cell is replaced by others like it though all are unique - like a fingerprint or a snowflake. But that one cell is never forgotten. It had a role to play, a dharma, and its spirit lives on in the larger organism. Be like the cell and remember what it has always known. You might be happy when things appear to be going well, but are you not still happy when adversity strikes and things don’t go your way? Are your emotional highs met equally with crushing lows? Do you suffer from wide swings in your emotional state? What if there was a way to achieve a stability in your life that was able to persist through even the darkest and most uncertain times? There is a tradeoff to achieving this sort of stable internal state. If you can remain strong during adversity, you must also learn to resist manic states of excitement and reel in your emotions during times of success. It is good to be excited and motivated, but not if you are similarly disappointed and saddened when life throws a wrench in your plans. Your inner state would be forever tied to life’s circumstances. You are on an emotional roller coaster, and because life is a series of unpredictable ups and downs, you are never fully in control. To gain control is to detach your emotions from the events of life. This is the way of Zen. Such inner peace, calm, and strength you would attain by separating the emotions from the inevitable turbulence of the world. You then have a sense of clarity in order to move forward. You are immune from the lows, but also not lured by the highs. In order to be immune from the pain of disappointment, you must also give up the mania of intense desire. That is the tradeoff. Emotional stability is the choice you make to be in control of your inner state so that you can react to life with a clear head. On an emotional scale of 1 to 10, we should aim to sit right around 7. Not so low to become depressed, but also not so high that we risk falling down. This is not to say there will be no lows and no highs in our life. The goal is merely to decrease the volatility in our emotions, to remove the large mood swings, and achieve a degree of stability no matter the outcomes we experience. I hope this helps.",
