      "body": "On Thursday, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) announced that it has started accepting applications for the latest batch of the E-Rozgar training program, held with collaboration between the PITB and the youth affairs and sports department. The program aims to impart digital skills and freelancing training to unemployed youth with at least 16 years of education, free of cost.\n\nThe E-Rozgar training program, which maintains more than 32 training centers in Punjab, has trained up to 28,000 students until now, with 54% of women who have contributed Rs. 2.4 billion in foreign exchange till now.\n\nThe following 3-months courses are being offered as part of the program:\n\nContent Marketing & Advertising\nCreative Design\nE-commerce\nFreelancing\nThe selection for the E-Rozgar program is, however, subject to the following criteria:\n\nPunjab province’s domicile\nA valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)\nMinimum 16 years of education\nMaximum age of 35 years.\nThe applicants can apply online at http//www.erozgaar.pitb.gov.pk/apply to participate in an online entry test and to deposit online attested documents at a later stage.\n\nThe E-Rozgar training program, along with the National Freelance Training Program and the DigiSkills program, comprises a coordinated national effort by the government to establish a knowledge economy as part of the Digital Pakistan vision.       "body": "The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a $500 million disbursement to Pakistan for budgetary support after its Executive Board completed delayed reviews of Pakistan’s $6 billion loan program.\n\nAccording to the report published by Business Recorder, IMF Deputy Managing Director Antoinette Sayeh told this in a statement saying the latest payment brought total disbursements under the Extended Fund Facility to $2bn since the program was first approved in July 2019.\n\nPakistan’s 39-month EFF arrangement was approved by the Executive Board on July 3, 2019 for SDR 4.268 billion (about $6 billion at the time of approval of the arrangement, or 210 percent of quota).\n\nAs per the IMF, the program aims to support Pakistan’s policies to help the economy and save lives and livelihoods amid the still unfolding Covid-19 pandemic, ensure macroeconomic and debt sustainability, and advance structural reforms to lay the foundations for strong, job-rich, and long-lasting growth that benefits all Pakistanis.\n\n“The Pakistani authorities have continued to make satisfactory progress under the Fund-supported program, which has been an important policy anchor during an unprecedented period. While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to pose challenges, the authorities’ policies have been critical in supporting the economy and saving lives and livelihoods. Users could send an invite to any partner and start messaging as soon as it is accepted, the company said in a blog post.\n\nAfter rolling out the feature, Slack received feedback from users about how email invitations to use the feature could potentially be used to send abusive or harassing messages, Jonathan Prince, vice president of communications and policy at Slack, said in a statement.\n\n“We made a mistake in this initial roll-out,” Prince added.\n\nThe overall concern, first raised by Twitter employee Menotti Minutillo, was that the feature did not have robust opt-out protections for individual users and no way to easily prevent people from spamming you with email invites.\n\nThat seems benign on the surface; if someone wants to harass you and they have your email address, surely they can just send you a harassing email. According to the details, a research team in China designed a new kind of bio-hybrid microbot that uses clever biological disguises to get even closer to the source of disease in the body in order to provide the most targeted (and effective) treatment.\n\nThe objective was the treatment of illness epicenters like brain tumors.\n\nZhiguang Wu, an author on the study and a professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology focusing on nanotechnology, says that the new microbots can overcome obstacles that have hindered many more conventional lines of medical treatment.\n\n“Such passive diffusion suffers from the long diffusion time, ineffectiveness, and block of biological barriers, which could result in strong side effects,” Wu told Inverse. “The swimming micro/nanorobots, able to navigate into hard-to-reach tissues utilizing their active propulsion, hold considerable expectations for loading various drugs and actively swim toward the diseased sites for targeted drug transportation.”\n\nUsing a Trojan Horse approach, the team disguised their drug delivery microbot as a white blood cell to sneak by the body’s blood-brain barrier.\n\nThe development is substantial for cancer treatment because it comes to fighting off cancer, the more targeted the treatment the better, especially brain tumors. Because of the delicate location in the brain, drug treatment can be difficult, and removing the tumor can require dangerous brain surgery.       "body": "The global recorded music business grew by 7.4 per cent last year, an industry body said Tuesday, as streaming continued to drive a fast-paced recovery from the doldrums of the piracy era.\n\nThe return of vinyl continued unabated with sales up 23.5 per cent on the year before, while CDs continued their steady decline, down 11.9 per cent, according to the annual report by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).\n\nBut it is streaming – up 19.9 per cent – that has propelled the industry back to growth in the last decade, with overall revenues now at $21.6 billion, close to their level at the turn of the century before the internet began to devastate incomes.\n\nStreaming platforms, led by Spotify, Apple, and Deezer, now account for 62.1 per cent of global music revenues, the report said, with some 443 million paying subscribers.\n\nSpotify, having recently expanded into the Pakistani market, is looking forward to dominating the music streaming space for years to come.\n\nIFPI said a major trend was the growth of global connections, despite pandemic-related travel restrictions.\n\n“K-Pop continues to make great strides, of course, but I would argue the most exciting development this year has been how African music and African artists have been embraced by fans worldwide,” said Simon Robson of Warner Music in the report.\n\nThe African region was included for the first time, with a growth of 8.4 per cent, led by artists such as Burna Boy from Nigeria who picked up a Grammy for best global music album this month.\n\n“What’s incredibly exciting is we now see artists from anywhere in the world have the ability to break into any other market in the world,” Dennis Kooker of Sony Music told a press conference for the report.\n\n“There are no barriers to entry, no barriers to consumers who want to engage with an artist. The company’s new chief executive announced plans to splurge as much as $20 billion to build two factories in Arizona and to open up its factories to outside customers.\n\nAs reported by Reuters, the move by CEO Pat Gelsinger on Tuesday aims to restore Intel’s reputation after manufacturing delays sent shares plunging last year. The strategy will directly challenge the two other companies in the world that can make the most advanced chips, Taiwan’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC) and Korea’s Samsung.\n\nIntel is one of the few remaining semiconductor companies that both designs and manufactures its own chips. Rival chip designers such as Qualcomm Inc and Apple Inc rely on contract manufacturers.\n\nIn an interview with Reuters, Gelsinger said Intel has “fully resolved” its problems with its most recent manufacturing technology and is “all systems go” on chips for 2023. It now plans a massive manufacturing expansion.\n\nThat will include spending $20 billion on two new factories at an existing campus in Chandler, Arizona, that will create 3,000 permanent jobs. The entire process will take about six days to complete, with one step of the procedure involving a pyrotechnic cable-cutting device.\n\n\n\nOnce the Ingenuity is deployed it will carefully back away from the helicopter to give its solar cells the chance to recharge hence completing the overall test flight. Farah Alibay, a systems engineer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, added that this type of deployment had never been done before.\n\nOnce everything is executed smoothly, Ingenuity’s first test flight will see it hover about 10 feet off the surface of the planet for 30 seconds. The ark, or gene bank, would be safely hidden in the hollowed-out tunnels and caves sculpted by lava more than 3 billion years ago and would be powered by solar panels, reports Live Science. \nIt would hold the cryogenically preserved genetic material of all 6.7 million known species of plants, animals, and fungi on Earth. It would require at least 250 rocket launches to reach the moon, according to the researchers. One of its latest experiments involves testing an automated list of products detected in videos uploaded to the site.\n\nAs reported by 9to5Google, an early version of this feature was tested with a very small subset of YouTube users midway through 2020, but it looks as though it is being expanded further for those viewing content in the US.\n\nIt’s not clear just how it will look, as the initial rollout of “Products in this Video” proved to be very small, to the point that there are little to no examples of it in action online.\n\nThis time around, in one of its blogs, a YouTube representative has given a little more detail about how this particular feature will be deployed:\n\n“Testing automated list of products detected in videos: We are experimenting with a new feature that displays a list of products detected in some videos, as well as related products. The feature will appear in between the recommended videos, to viewers scrolling below the video player. The goal is to help people explore more videos and information about those products on YouTube. This feature will be visible to people watching videos in the US.”\n\nRight beneath the main YouTube player, you’ll get a list of any products feature with related content for each item prominently displayed. The 9to5Google report believes that this could appear like a banner advert, but with more interactive elements. However, rather than taking you off YouTube, you’ll see videos from other channels and creators that have showcased things auto-detected within the initial video.\n\nThis might work almost as a secondary recommendation tool, which complements the recommended videos section that appears to the right of the main video player.       "body": "A federal jury in Texas said Apple must pay about $308.5 million to Personalized Media Communications (PMC) for infringing a patent associated with digital rights management (DRM), according to a report published by Bloomberg.\n\nThe jurors late on Friday directed Apple to pay a running royalty to PMC, which is generally based on the amount of sales of a product or service.\n\nApple has appealed the ruling.\n\nPMC, a licensing firm, had originally sued Apple in 2015, claiming the tech giant infringed seven of its patents. The lawsuit relates to FairPlay, a DRM technology, which Apple uses to encrypt and decrypt digital content and software including books, audio books, TV programs, movies, and music.\n\nApple successfully challenged PMC’s case at the US patent office, but an appeals court in March last year reversed that decision, paving the way for the trial.\n\nIn 2013, PMC was granted a patent entitled “Signal Processing Apparatus and Methods,” which detailed methods of encrypting and decrypting digital content.\n\nThe 2015 lawsuit alleges that Apple had known about PMC’s patents and that the two companies had held a series of meetings discussing how PMC’s patents could be applied to Apple’s products and services, including FairPlay.\n\nApple then infringed on this patent when creating its own DRM technology, according the lawsuit.       "body": "Twitter boss Jack Dorsey sold his first tweet as an NFT for just over $2.9 million (roughly Rs. 20 crore). The tweet is in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT).\n\nThe tweet is in the form of a NFT - a kind of unique digital asset that has exploded in popularity so far in 2021.\n\nEach NFT has its own blockchain-based digital signature, which serves as a public ledger, allowing anyone to verify the asset's authenticity and ownership.\n\nThe NFT was sold via auction on a platform called Valuables, which is owned by the US-based company Cent.\n\nIt was bought using the cryptocurrency Ether, for 1630.5825601 ETH, which was worth $2,915,835.47 (roughly Rs. 21 crore) at the time of sale, Cameron Hejazi, the CEO and co-founder of Cent confirmed.\nCent confirmed the buyer is Sina Estavi. Estavi's Twitter profile, @sinaEstavi, says he is based in Malaysia and is CEO of the blockchain company Bridge Oracle. Estavi told Reuters he was \"thankful\" when asked for comment about the purchase.\n\nOn March 6, Dorsey, who is a Bitcoin enthusiast, tweeted a link to the website where the NFT was listed for sale.
