| body | # We had some interesting news in the cryptocurrency field this week, here are some highlights:
### Binance Reveals Plan for $1 Billion Blockchain Startup Fund
It seems Binance have only good news lately! Now they plan to invest $1 billion into a fund of funds. The fund will break down to 10 phases in each phase the will invest $100 million in different blockchain projects! Also, BNB coin looking good topping at $17.6 this week. The future seems bright for Binance.

### Ripple Pumps $50 Million Into Academic Research on Blockchain
Haters gonna hate XRP but you can't ignore the fact the ripple is unstoppable. This week they announced they setting aside millions of dollars to fund university-based research into blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Ripple says it will put over $50 million, as well as its own expertise and "technical resources," into funding the initiative's first group of university partners.

### LinkedIn Co-Founder Is Raising $20 Million for Token Project
Eric Ly – LinkedIn's first chief technology officer and one of its founders – is raising funds for the Hub Token, which is tied to a forthcoming platform called ICOHub.

### Apple Co-Founder Backs Dorsey: Bitcoin Should Become Web's Currency
Steve Wozniak Backs Twitter CEO and hopes that he is right that bitcoin will become the internet's "native currency". The Apple co-founder also indicated his support for bitcoin compared to other cryptocurrencies, stating that "only bitcoin is pure digital gold...and I totally buy into that."

### China Has Built a Blockchain System That Could Replace Paper Checks
China's central bank has finished work on a blockchain-based system that digitizes checks issued by domestic businesses, according to a senior official. Very interesting to see the adoption of the blockchain technology!

### Coinbase 'On Track' to Become a Regulated Securities Firm
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced Wednesday that it was making strides toward its goal of operating a federally regulated broker-dealer. Maybe we will see in the near future more institutional money entering the crypto space? Coinbase works hard to become the gateway for the institutional money to enter the crypto market.

I wish I could be inside the head of Jamie Dimon to understand what the hell is going on in his funny mind every time he speaks about bitcoin. This time all he had to say was: "I-- I don't wanna be the Bitcoin spokesman. You know, just beware." Yeah right, he don't want to be the Bitcoin spokesman after calling it a fraud..

As you can see the adoption curve of the crypto space is grows exponentially - as the time pass more and more companies show their interest in cryptocurrencies! Great news just keep coming - I just hope the prices will respond accordingly.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ShutUpAndTakeMyFiat-148978335666173/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shutupandtakemyfiat/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/takemyfiat |

Ripple says it will put over $50 million, as well as its own expertise and \"technical resources,\" into funding the initiative's first group of university partners. \n\n

\n\n\n\n
\n\n### LinkedIn Co-Founder Is Raising $20 Million for Token Project\n\n
\nEric Ly – LinkedIn's first chief technology officer and one of its founders – is raising funds for the Hub Token, which is tied to a forthcoming platform called ICOHub.\n\n\n

\n\n
\n\n### Apple Co-Founder Backs Dorsey: Bitcoin Should Become Web's Currency\n\n
\n\nSteve Wozniak Backs Twitter CEO and hopes that he is right that bitcoin will become the internet's \"native currency\".\nThe Apple co-founder also indicated his support for bitcoin compared to other cryptocurrencies, stating that \"only bitcoin is pure digital gold...and I totally buy into that.\"\n\n

\n\n\n
\n\n### China Has Built a Blockchain System That Could Replace Paper Checks\n
\nChina's central bank has finished work on a blockchain-based system that digitizes checks issued by domestic businesses, according to a senior official.\nVery interesting to see the adoption of the blockchain technology!\n\n

\n\n \n\n### Coinbase 'On Track' to Become a Regulated Securities Firm\n\n
\n\nCryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced Wednesday that it was making strides toward its goal of operating a federally regulated broker-dealer.\nMaybe we will see in the near future more institutional money entering the crypto space? \nCoinbase works hard to become the gateway for the institutional money to enter the crypto market.\n\n

\n\n\n\n
\n\nI wish I could be inside the head of Jamie Dimon to understand what the hell is going on in his funny mind every time he speaks about bitcoin. This time all he had to say was: \"I-- I don't wanna be the Bitcoin spokesman. You know, just beware.\" Yeah right, he don't want to be the Bitcoin spokesman after calling it a fraud..\n\n

\n\nAs you can see the adoption curve of the crypto space is grows exponentially - as the time pass more and more companies show their interest in cryptocurrencies!\nGreat news just keep coming - I just hope the prices will respond accordingly.\n\n

\n\n \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ShutUpAndTakeMyFiat-148978335666173/\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/shutupandtakemyfiat/\nTwitter: https://twitter.com/takemyfiat",

| title | 4 CryptoCurrency Trading Rookie Mistakes |
| body |
The Cryptocurrency market lure many traders because of the massive gains some people made in the last years. Some of the traders are completely new to trading and some have experience trading stocks, futures, forex and etc. In both cases the traders are joining the cryptocurrency market for the first time and this market is quite unique. In this post you will learn about 3 common mistakes made by beginner cryptocurrency traders and I hope this post will help to prevent you from making the same mistakes that cause many people lose money in this incredible market.
# Trading Cryptocurrency market the same as the other markets
The Cryptocurrency market is different from any other market and even if you are a successful trader at other markets such as the stock market for example, it doesn't mean you immediately will become a successful cryptocurrency trader, especially if you will try to trade the same way you traded the other markets. There are major differences between the two markets, here are few of them: - Cryptocurrency Market is Open 24/7/365 - The Cryptocurrency market is open all the time unlike the stock market for example that has trading hours, pre-market hours ,after hours weekends and holidays. If you trade cryptocurrencies you need to take that in consideration - the whole world is participating in this market so there are different waking hours for the United States and the Asian market for example, that can influence the price at different times of the day. Also, even though the market is open all the time Friday-Sunday tend to be less volatile as people prefer to close/open positions before the weekend probably to get some rest. - Professionals VS Amateurs - The Cryptocurrency market is still relatively new and has many amateur traders and less 'institutional money'/'smart money' unlike other markets where most of the transactions made by computer algorithms developed by institutions with a lot of money, experience and smart, highly educated people. The players of the market decide the prices and when you have different players it results in different market behavior. - Volatility - The Cryptocurrency market is extremely volatile! Prices can drop 30% intra-day or surge 100% intra-day and that is not even rare! This volatility is caused by many different reasons, one of them for example is low supply - the number of bitcoins is very small, only 21 million and once the demand start to rise the price of bitcoin tend to surge - like every product with a high demand and low supply. If you can't withstand seeing your portfolio goes done 30% in one day this market is probably not for you. So before you risk a lot of money spend some time learning this market and its behavior even if you are already a successful trader at a different market.
# Trading CryptoCurrencies Against FIAT Money
This is a common mistake among beginners, they tend to value cryptocurrencies against fiat money such as USD or EURO but the truth is that altcoins are valued against bitcoin, because the easiest cryptocurrency you can buy is bitcoin and only after you got bitcoin you can buy different altcoins with it. This is slowly changing and as the time passing by it becomes easier to buy different altcoins using fiat money and more exchanges adding trading pairs of altcoins against tether so this can be changed soon but still many traders prefer to trade altcoins against bitcoin so if you are using technical analysis you should look at the same charts as the majority of traders - if you trade for example Litecoin against USD and see a double bottom at the chart and believe that you found support - this support can be just an illusion if only you looking at this chart. If most traders will look at Litecoin versus Bitcoin chart and will see bearish signs the double bottom at the USD chart can be easily broken as most of the traders will not consider it as support.
# Linear Versus Logarithmic Scale
When looking at a chart there are 2 options to display it - using linear scale or logarithmic scale. Logarithmic scale is often used when looking at a long term period or when the price is changed drastically. It's the same idea as the last mistake - if you the only one looking at linear scale and you see a bullish breakout for instance, but everyone else is looking at logarithmic scale they would not consider it as a breakout until it breakouts on the logarithmic scale. Look at the chart below:

This is Bitcoin daily chart in linear scale and you can see at the yellow circle a clear breakout of the down trend line. But as you can see it didn't last long and the downtrend continues causing massive lose to traders who bought the breakout and thought that the down trend is over.
Now look at this chart:

This is the same chart but this time it's in logarithmic scale and you can see clearly that the breakout that we saw at the linear chart (yellow circle) didn't broke out at the logarithmic chart, instead it's perfectly touched the down trend line and immediately rejected and continued the down trend. Traders who looked at the second chart if were patient enough could short bitcoin and make a nice profit.
# Price Versus Market Cap
Many beginners look at the price of a coin instead at the market cap and make false estimations. If we look for example at bitcoin and at ripple, many beginners assume that if bitcoin went up to 20,000$ then ripple can easily go to 10$ and decide to invest at ripple - they think that it's more likely for ripple to go from under a dollar to 10$ and make an easy 10x on their investment than bitcoin to go to 90k from around 9k and make the same 10x profit. But in reality it's not true - you should look at the market cap of the coin and right now when bitcoin is almost at 9k the market cap of all the bitcoins together is around 150 billion dollars. If ripple ever will be 10$ the market cap of all the ripples together will be around 390 billion dollars! If Bitcoin price will be 90k the market cap will be 1.5 trillion dollars. Right now the market cap of ripple is only fifth of bitcoin's market cap. If bitcoin will be 90k and ripple will be 10$ the market cap of ripple will be fourth of the bitcoin market cap. Now, I'm not saying it's impossible, all I'm saying is that the assumption that it's more likely for ripple to go to 10$ than for bitcoin to go to 90k is wrong.

Hope this post was helpful. Good luck to all traders!

**Legal Disclaimer:** This is my opinion, and my opinion only. | title | 5 CryptoCurrency Websites You Must Bookmark |
| body | # There is so much information about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies on the internet that it’s impossible to follow it all, so many websites about bitcoin and blockchain you can browse and read them forever but this 5 websites bellow are ‘must to know’ for everyone who is interested in cryptocurrencies and wants to be updated:
*Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you click a link and purchase something that we have recommended. While clicking these links won’t cost you any extra money, they will help us keep this site up and running.*

## [CoinMarketCap](https://coinmarketcap.com/)
A great website that tracks the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies. The site also provides the price, 24h volume, circulating supply, 24h change in price and graphes of the coins. Except data of different coins you can also find data on the whole cryptocurrency market: total market cap of all the cryptocurrencies listed in the site, total 24h volume and Bitcoin percentage dominance of the whole market. For each coin you can find very useful information such as important sites of the coin – for example it can be the official site of the coin, official forum, link to the code of the coin at GitHub and etc, at which exchanges the coin is traded and news on the social media. Two more nice features at the site are the historical snapshots and Trending tab. At the trending tab you can find the top performing coins – the top gainers and the top losers at different time frames – 1h/24h/7d, and also the recently added coins that the site listed. The historical snapshots are just a snapshots of the data at a certain time in the past – you can look at the prices and be amazed how much it’s changed over the time!

## [TradingView](https://tradingview.go2cloud.org/aff_c?offer_id=2&aff_id=10670)

TraingView is a website with awesome price charts. There are several reasons you would like to use TradingView instead of CoinMarketCap to track prices of cryptocurrencies: * Candlesticks - The graphs in CoinMarketCap are simple line graphs that don't provide enough information on the price change - when you look at candlesticks you see much more information - instead of a simple dot on a line that represents the close price you get the high, the low, the open and the close price - essential information for traders! * Tools and indicators - At CoinMarketCap the only information provided is the price and the volume, at Trading View you can add different indicators (RSI, moving average and a lot more) and draw on the chart (support/resistance/trend line for example) - a must use tools for traders. * Price accuracy - At Trading View you see the real time price at the exchange you chose to look at, while at CoinMarketCap the price is updating once in a 5 minutes and the prices are calculated by averaging the prices at the different exchanges weighted by volume - which will give you not very accurate price depends on the exchange you are trading on. While you can use use the charts with a free subscription you can also purchase a PRO subscription which will provide you much more features, but if you are a beginner the free subscription is totally fine.

## [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/)

Reddit is a social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website. It's a good website to look for news or reasons for price movements of different coins - sometimes when the news/reason is very fresh and you can't find them by googling you should try Reddit. Actually, CoinMarketCap uses reddit as a source for the 'social' tab of the coins.

## [BitInfoCharts](https://bitinfocharts.com/)

This site has very interesting information - you can find there the richest cryptocurrency address - how many coins they have and how their balances changed over time, you can see the distribution of a coin - for example how many address have more than 1 bitcoin, you can find charts that show historical number of transactions, historical transactions fee, historical hashrate and much more! If it's the first time you hear about this site I truly recommend you to check it out!

## [BitcoinTalk](https://bitcointalk.org/)

BitcoinTalk is a forum about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, the forum was created by Satoshi Nakamoto the creator of bitcoin! You can find there historical posts - posts written by Satoshi himself, posts of the first bitcoin transaction and more. The forum is still active and include a lot of useful information.

I hope you find this sites useful for you!

Visit our store and blog: http://shutupandtakemyfiat.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ShutUpAndTakeMyFiat-148978335666173/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shutupandtakemyfiat/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/takemyfiat |

| title | Is The Bitcoin Dip Is Over? |
| body | It's been almost 3 weeks since Bitcoin touched 10k and started a steady downtrend towards 7k. If you look at the chart you can find some strong support indicators: - **Trend Line** - This is the fifth time we touch this trend line: first time was 5114$, then 5400$, 6000$, ~6500$, and now at the last low 7260$ - **0.786 Fibonacci** - If we draw a Fibonacci from 6000$ to 11790$ we can see this is second time bitcoin touches the 0.786 line at ~7250$ - **RSI** - Bitcoin has a very low daily RSI and even lower 4-hour RSI If Bitcoin can hold this ~7250$ level then it will be a third higher low (6000$, 6500$ and 7250$) which can be a good sign for upcoming bull run. If Bitcoin fails to hold this level the next strong supports are at 6500$ and 6000$

**Legal Disclaimer:** This is my opinion, and my opinion only. | body | # How to keep bitcoin/cryptocurrencies safe?
The total supply of bitcoin is 21 million coins and the last bitcoin estimated to be mined in 2140. The current supply at the time of writing is a little over 17 million coins but you may be surprised to hear that a recent research estimates that approximately 3-4 million bitcoins are lost forever! Except the lost bitcoins there are also millions of stolen bitcoins! During the lifetime of bitcoin there were large numbers of hacks and frauds in which many people lost a lot of money. How could this happen? I will cover the ways you can get hacked or lose your bitcoin/cryptocurrencies so this will never happen to you:

### FORGETTING PASSWORDS
You will be amazed how many coins are lost in wallets that cannot be accessed to because the users forget their passwords! Today it’s probably less common but back in the times when bitcoin was much cheaper it happened a lot more often.

### LOST/BROKEN HARDWARE
There are many ways you can store your bitcoins/cryptocurrencies, some are safer than others. Hardware wallets and cold storage wallets consider safe – using this wallets your chance to being hacked is very low but hardware has its own disadvantages: many people lost their coins by losing or even throwing away old hardware because they forgot that their coins were where Also, old hardware can get broken what will cause losing the access to any coins on that hardware.

### SENDING COINS TO THE WRONG ADDRESS
Before sending coins between your wallets make sure the address is correct! The slightest mistake can result in sending your coins to someone else! Moreover if by mistake you are trying to send your coins to an address that don’t even exist the blockchain will not recognize it and will allow you to do so, resulting in losing your coins forever and no one will ever could use them!

### HACKS AND FRAUDS
Many traders store their coins on exchanges so that they could trade them fast and easily but actually this is very dangerous. When you store your coins online like in exchange there is a risk of getting hacked. Not only your own account can be hacked but even the whole exchange can be hacked! One famous example is the Mt. Gox exchange hack – 850,000 bitcoins went missing in 2014! Except hacks there are a lot of scammers out there that try (many times successfully) in different creative ways to make people give them access to their coins only to steal them. Here are some tips you can use to reduce the chance of losing your cryptocurrencies:
### PASSWORDS
Always make sure you remember your passwords but at the same time try to use a long password. If you can’t remember it avoid storing it online, it may sound silly but writing it down on a piece of paper is probably the safest way to keep it.

### USE 2FA
Two Factor Authentication is just a second layer of security. If you use 2FA you will have to provide not only username and password but also another code to access your account. The extra code can be sent to you via SMS to your phone or can be generated by google 2 step verification. If it’s the first time you hear about it I suggest you to learn about it more – just google it.

### USE HARDWARE WALLET
Unless you are a day trader there is no reason to keep your coins on exchanges. Hardware wallet is the safest way to store your coins! It’s resilient to malware and once you transfer your coins you can just keep it some place safe in your house. While other types of storage are free hardware wallets can cost you a hundred bucks – it may seem expansive but if you invest a large amount off money on cryptocurrencies it’s totally worth your peace of mind. There are several different hardware wallets out there you can find some of them at our store [here.](http://shutupandtakemyfiat.com/product-category/hardware/)

### BE SURE!
If you transfer coins between wallets\exchanges for the first time or if you afraid that you doing something wrong make a test – send a small amount first to see if you are doing it right and once you see that your coins arrived to right place you can safely transfer your full amount.

### DON’T BE NAIVE
If something sounds to good to be true maybe it probably is. Scammers will do anything to get your money! Don’t trust blindly anyone and always do your own research, don’t provide personal information and never, NEVER give anyone your PRIVATE keys or your passwords. Many scammers promise people to send them coins for free – all they ask is for their private key to know where to send the coins – private key is meant to be private – with your private key you can access to your coins and transfer them – if someone else have your private key he can just access your coins and send them to himself. If anyone will ever want to send you coins they will ask for your public key and this key is meant to be shared so people will know where to send coins so they will arrive to the right person.

Hope this information was helpful! When I needed to sell my bitcoins, they provided an outstanding and unique service that I couldn't get from Coinbase, Localbitcoins, etc. After that initial transaction at Remitano last year, I have been totally sold to their service buying and selling btc and ether regularly. |

| title | CryptoCurrency Beginners Guide |
| body | # What is cryptocurrency? How to buy cryptocurrencies? It seems that everyone is talking about cryptocurrency and bitcoin: “Bitcoin is the future currency”, “Bitcoin is a bubble”, “Ethereum will soon overtake Bitcoin”, “Have you heard about this new ICO?” The cryptocurrency community and the blockchain technology are growing in an extreme pace, so what all the fuss is about? Bitcoin is a digital decentralized currency first introduced in 2008 by unknown person or group of people under the name ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’. Ten years later and Bitcoin managed to go from technically 0$ of worth up to almost 20,000$. In this time frame the cryptocurrency space grew from one single cryptocurrency to over 1,500 cryptocurrencies, from no exchanges to over 100 exchanges, from no use at all and ignorance to probably the most important and talked about invention since the internet! So why bitcoin and blockchain is so revolutionary? Well, bitcoin made it possible to transfer value (money) between people from all around the world (as long as the person have internet connection) at relatively low cost and a relatively high speed WITHOUT any central organization or administrator (bank for example) that controls it. The blockchain eliminates the need of an intermediary that usually will charge you a fee for making the transfers. So how can people trust each other without any intermediary? Here the miners come into play – in order to verify the transfers between people the ‘miners’ which can be anybody with an internet connection (even you) use computer processing power to solve mathematical problems which verify that the transactions are legit. It means that instead of one big central organization we get a decentralized wide community that rely on mathematical consensus. Okay so now that you know a little bit more about bitcoin and blockchain I bet you excited to become part of the revolution! How can you buy cryptocurrencies? As I mentioned above there are over 100 different exchanges where bitcoin and other altcoins are traded. The catch is that many of them allow you to trade bitcoin for different altcoins and vice versa but don’t allow you to trade them against fiat money (USD\Euro\whatever your local currency is). So I will cover first the exchanges that allow you to buy bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum using fiat money and then I will cover exchanges that allow you to trade major cryptocurrencies against less known altcoins. Just so you know, many exchanges ask for a lot of private information – some exchanges ask for a photo of your ID and some can even ask for a photo of you holding your ID(!), be sure to read about the exchange before providing any private information about yourself. But don’t be worry the legit exchanges do it to protect you and others from scammers and will do nothing with your private information. Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you click a link and purchase something that we have recommended. While clicking these links won’t cost you any extra money, they will help us keep this site up and running. # The next 3 exchanges are some of the best out there, through this exchanges you can buy bitcoin or other major cryptocurrencies using fiat money, let’s begin:
## [Coinbase](https://www.coinbase.com/join/5ad0f8ae6179f709d8bc9363) One of the biggest exchanges with over 20 million customers, based in San Francisco – it supports 32 different countries. You can buy Bitcoin\Bitcoin Cash\Ethereum\Litecoin by a bank transfer which will include 1.5% fee and 5-7 days until your funds will be available or by a credit card which will include 4% fee and your funds will be available instantly (Transfer times depends on the on the blockchain itself). Using this link you will get 10$ if you purchase at least 100$ of cryptocurrency: [coinbase.com](https://www.coinbase.com/join/5ad0f8ae6179f709d8bc9363) [](https://www.coinbase.com/join/5ad0f8ae6179f709d8bc9363)

## [LocalBitcoins](https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=qxhv) LocalBitcoins is a great site available in all countries where you can find people who are selling bitcoins in your area, you can use any payment method (you can even meet with the person and buy it from them with cash) and the fee that they charge is only 1% (the sellers determine the prices though so even if the fee seems low the seller can ask for much higher price than other exchanges offer so be aware of that) Check it out: [localbitcoins.com](https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=qxhv) [](https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=qxhv)

## [Cex.io](https://cex.io/r/0/up119686522/0/) Also a great exchange with over than 2 million users. Cex.io supports a lot more countries than coinbase does. You can buy Bitcoin\Ethereum\Bitcoin Cash\Bitcoin Gold\Dash\Ripple\Stellar\Zcash using with a bank transfer which include no fees or by your credit card which include a fee of 3.5% + 0.25$. Check it out: [cex.io](https://cex.io/r/0/up119686522/0/) [](https://cex.io/r/0/up119686522/0/)

# Okay so now that you got your bitcoin or other major cryptocurrency let's cover some exchanges where you can trade those coins for less known cryptocurrencies:
## [Binance](https://www.binance.com/?ref=16598078) Binance is a great exchange! It's based in Hong Kong and available for all countries. The exchange has a high trading volume and large variety of coins. They are very active on the social media and have a decent customer support. This exchange is growing very fast and has already over 5 million users! If you are a beginner you should check it out, it's very user friendly. [binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=16598078) [](https://www.binance.com/?ref=16598078)

## [Bittrex](http://bittrex.com) Bittrex is also a good exchange. It's Based in the US and available for most countries. The exchange has lower volume compared to Binance but still is pretty high. The variety of coins is very large and you can find a lot of coins that are only listed on Bittrex. The exchange is less active on the social media and their customer service is pretty slow. This one is also user friendly and I myself find the charts much better than on Binance. You can check it out here: [bittrex.com](http://bittrex.com) [](http://bittrex.com)

## [Bitfinex](http://bitfinex.com) Bitfinex in my opinion is the best exchange! Unfortunately Bitfinex does not support users from the US and they recently updated their minimum deposit to 10,000$(!) but if you are not from the US and have more than 10,000$ to invest I highly recommend you to check them out. Bitfinex has one of the largest volume of all the exchanges, they are very active on the social media and have a decent customer service. The variety of coins is not very large but they have 2 main advantages in my opinion: The first is their charts - they use the charts of TradingView which are awesome and very convenient, and the second and probably the best thing is - you can margin trade(!) - while on different exchanges you can only buy coins and hope they will rise on Bitfinex you can actually short them and make profit when coins are going down. Bitfinex also allow you to use up to 3.3X leverage on your money (which is very risky and I recommend you avoiding using leverage especially if you are a beginner). Note 1 - If you very eager to trade on Bitfinex but don't have enough money for their minimum deposit requirement you can try and search for people who are selling their account - many people opened accounts before Bitfinex updated their minimum requirement and some of them are willing to sell them to people in your situation. Note 2 - Bitfinex was hacked in 2016 - 72$ million worth of bitcoin was stolen! But, it's important to know that Bitfinex credited all the users that lost money with BFX tokens equal to the amount they lost and since the hack Bitfinex claim that they significantly improved their security. You can visit their site here: [bitfinex.com](http://bitfinex.com) [](http://bitfinex.com)

## Some Helpful tips: * Create account at the exchange as soon as you can! Even if you are not interested in buying/trading bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies right now I recommend you to open account right now, it doesn't cost you money and if you wait exchanges can add different requirements as Bitfinex did with their minimal deposit requirement of 10,000$ which didn't existed before. Also, many people usually open accounts when they want to buy bitcoin/altcoins because of some news or because the prices are going up. This was the case in the last rally of bitcoin to 20k and I personally some people who missed that rally because they been waiting for their accounts to be verified by the exchanges. The verification process can take a lot of time - days and even weeks and in the last rally so many people wanted to join the party that many exchanges couldn't manage the pressure - the verification process took much longer and some exchanges didn't even allowed new users to register (some people took advantage of the situation and offered accounts for sale - sounds crazy huh?). * Create several accounts in different exchanges - there are some reasons you may want to have more than one account: * Variety of altcoins - different exchanges may have different altcoins - there is no worse feeling than seeing a coin going up but not having the option of buying it because it doesn't listed on your exchange * Maintenance - sometimes exchanges may be offline for maintenance - the process can last few hours and sometimes even days - if you have only one account at a single exchanges you will be unable to trade through the whole maintenance time. * Safety - it may sound gloomy but exchanges can be hacked. It don't happen very often but it happened enough times to be concerned. When you use multiple accounts with different exchanges you split your money and reduce the risk of losing all your money in case one of the exchanges get hacked. * Read my other post about 'Cryptocurrency Security' to keep your coins safe. "body": "\n\n# What is cryptocurrency? How to buy cryptocurrencies?\n\nIt seems that everyone is talking about cryptocurrency and bitcoin: “Bitcoin is the future currency”, “Bitcoin is a bubble”, “Ethereum will soon overtake Bitcoin”, “Have you heard about this new ICO?”\n\nThe cryptocurrency community and the blockchain technology are growing in an extreme pace, so what all the fuss is about?\n\nBitcoin is a digital decentralized currency first introduced in 2008 by unknown person or group of people under the name ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’. Ten years later and Bitcoin managed to go from technically 0$ of worth up to almost 20,000$. In this time frame the cryptocurrency space grew from one single cryptocurrency to over 1,500 cryptocurrencies, from no exchanges to over 100 exchanges, from no use at all and ignorance to probably the most important and talked about invention since the internet!\n\nSo why bitcoin and blockchain is so revolutionary? Well, bitcoin made it possible to transfer value (money) between people from all around the world (as long as the person have internet connection) at relatively low cost and a relatively high speed WITHOUT any central organization or administrator (bank for example) that controls it. The blockchain eliminates the need of an intermediary that usually will charge you a fee for making the transfers.\nSo how can people trust each other without any intermediary? Here the miners come into play – in order to verify the transfers between people the ‘miners’ which can be anybody with an internet connection (even you) use computer processing power to solve mathematical problems which verify that the transactions are legit. It means that instead of one big central organization we get a decentralized wide community that rely on mathematical consensus.\n\nOkay so now that you know a little bit more about bitcoin and blockchain I bet you excited to become part of the revolution! How can you buy cryptocurrencies?\nAs I mentioned above there are over 100 different exchanges where bitcoin and other altcoins are traded. The catch is that many of them allow you to trade bitcoin for different altcoins and vice versa but don’t allow you to trade them against fiat money (USD\\Euro\\whatever your local currency is). So I will cover first the exchanges that allow you to buy bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum using fiat money and then I will cover exchanges that allow you to trade major cryptocurrencies against less known altcoins.\nJust so you know, many exchanges ask for a lot of private information – some exchanges ask for a photo of your ID and some can even ask for a photo of you holding your ID(!), be sure to read about the exchange before providing any private information about yourself. But don’t be worry the legit exchanges do it to protect you and others from scammers and will do nothing with your private information.\n\n \n\nDisclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you click a link and purchase something that we have recommended. While clicking these links won’t cost you any extra money, they will help us keep this site up and running.\n \n\n \n\n# The next 3 exchanges are some of the best out there, through this exchanges you can buy bitcoin or other major cryptocurrencies using fiat money, let’s begin:\n
\n\n ## [Coinbase](https://www.coinbase.com/join/5ad0f8ae6179f709d8bc9363)\n\nOne of the biggest exchanges with over 20 million customers, based in San Francisco – it supports 32 different countries. You can buy\n\nBitcoin\\Bitcoin Cash\\Ethereum\\Litecoin by a bank transfer which will include 1.5% fee and 5-7 days until your funds will be available or by a credit card which will include 4% fee and your funds will be available instantly (Transfer times depends on the on the blockchain itself).\n\nUsing this link you will get 10$ if you purchase at least 100$ of cryptocurrency: [coinbase.com](https://www.coinbase.com/join/5ad0f8ae6179f709d8bc9363)\n[](https://www.coinbase.com/join/5ad0f8ae6179f709d8bc9363)\n

\n\n## [LocalBitcoins](https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=qxhv)\n\nLocalBitcoins is a great site available in all countries\nwhere you can find people who are selling bitcoins in\nyour area, you can use any payment method (you can even meet with the person and buy it from them with cash)\nand the fee that they charge is only 1% (the sellers determine the prices though so even if\nthe fee seems low the seller can ask for much higher\nprice than other exchanges offer so be aware of that)\n\nCheck it out: [localbitcoins.com](https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=qxhv)\n\n[](https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=qxhv)\n\n

\n\n## [Cex.io](https://cex.io/r/0/up119686522/0/)\n\nAlso a great exchange with over than 2 million users. Cex.io supports a lot more countries than coinbase does. You can buy Bitcoin\\Ethereum\\Bitcoin Cash\\Bitcoin Gold\\Dash\\Ripple\\Stellar\\Zcash using with a bank transfer which include no fees or by your credit card which include a fee of 3.5% + 0.25$.\n\nCheck it out: [cex.io](https://cex.io/r/0/up119686522/0/)\n\n[](https://cex.io/r/0/up119686522/0/)\n\n

\n\n# Okay so now that you got your bitcoin or other major cryptocurrency let's cover some exchanges where you can trade those coins for less known cryptocurrencies:\n
\n\n## [Binance](https://www.binance.com/?ref=16598078)\n\n\n\nBinance is a great exchange! It's based in Hong Kong and available for all countries. The exchange has a high trading volume and large variety of coins. They are very active on the social media and have a decent customer support.\nThis exchange is growing very fast and has already over 5 million users!\nIf you are a beginner you should check it out, it's very user friendly.\n[binance.com](https://www.binance.com/?ref=16598078)\n\n[](https://www.binance.com/?ref=16598078)\n\n\n

\n\n\n## [Bittrex](http://bittrex.com)\n\nBittrex is also a good exchange.
