From time in memorial, at the advent of the church, the Christians lived as one, the ate together, shared stuffs together, prayed together, worshipped together. I don't know your personal definition of unity, but all I know was that the early church was united. What went wrong? \n\nIdeologies began to change, doctrines started differing, breakouts were established, different mode of worship and so on. All these summed up to change the picture of a once united church. \n\nBut can I say in this article that Christianity is as united as ever despite the assault of the Devil on the church, bringing wolves amongst the flocks in sheep clothing, introducing themselves as men of God deceiving themselves and their followers. But the true Christians all over the world have one believe because the truth does not vary, it remains to truth everywhere and anytime. Let take it in bits till I hit the nail on the head. \n \n*\"But he answered and said, It is written, Man    shall not live by bread alone\",*\n\nWhat do you see from that statement? Christ made it clear to the devil that the force behind the existence of man should not be carnal lying determined. *Bread* signifies the material things of life, the physical things of life which are doubtlessly attractive to us, but we are not to prioritize them as yardstick to living a fulfilled life. \n\nSome people in the course of making vital decision of life, 'live by bread' (the physical assessment of man's heart). It might be in the course of making a choice on who to marry, this people look at the bread of beauty, the bread of economical status, the bread of educational qualification, the bread of financial balance and other bread that men live on today. The bread signifies man's will; putting God's will aside. Jesus said this is not the best way to go about the decision making process. \n\nRemember the scenario that brought about this statement, it was at a time when Jesus actually needed bread, it was a time when He was hungry after a long period of fast. But at this point he was faced of a choice of what method to use in solving this problem; Man's way or God's way?, the devil's words or what God has to say?. If you are found in such a position which will certainly come to all, what will you do? \n\n*\"But by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God\"*\n\nHere come the message. The word of God was highly priced by Christ, He placed every word of God as a top priority in his life.. He made it clear to the Devil, *It's Gods word that matters most to Him* You know one unique thing about Christ's answer to the Devil?, It brought to light the fact that God's will was the most important thing in life. He made it clear that all other things can be sacrificed to the will of God. Can you like Christ value God's will which is revealed in His word in every decision you are about to do?.\n\nPaul said in 2 Corinthians  4:18 *\"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal\".* This is a confirmation of the eternal value of the unseen(God's word and will) against the seen(The physical bread and fast, easy decision of men). Not just a wall, but a solid and well fortified wall. These walls were built in such way that an enemy finds it difficult to penetrate them, at most cases impossible. Lets take some insight into what George S. Clason in his book *the richest man in Babylon* says about the wall of Babylon;\n> One of the outstanding wonders of Babylon was the immense walls surrounding the city. The ancients ranked them with the great pyramid of Egypt as belonging to the \"seven wonders of the world.\" Queen Semiramis is credited with having erected the first walls during the early history of the city. Modern excavators have been unable to find any trace of the original walls. Nor is their exact height known. From mention made by early writers, it is estimated they were about fifty to sixty feet high, faced on the outer side with burnt brick and further protected by a deep moat of water.\n.............The height and length of these later walls staggers belief. They are reported upon reliable authority to have been about one hundred and sixty feet high, the equivalent of the height of a modern fifteen story office building. The total length is estimated as  between nine and eleven miles. So wide was the top that a six-horse chariot could be driven around them.\n\nFollowing what George says about the walls of Babylon, it is startling, it is unbelievable that a wall could be as high as a fifteen story building, wide to the extent that six-horse chariot could comfortably ride on it and as long as nine to eleven miles. That is a wonderful architectural masterpiece. But why  wassuch effort be invested in building a wall as sophisticated as this? There is just one answer I can derive for now and that is for ***protection***\n\nIn times past these ancient cities experienced attacks from neighboring cities. These invaders are most times ruthless and would carry many captives as slaves, spoil the city and abandon it in a state of ruin. In order to stay protected these kind of walls are built as a source of defense against such enemies.\n\nThese wall are not just built, but they are heavily fortified with bow men, fire balls, caldrons of burning oil, spear men and various other armor to be used against the enemy.\n\n# The 'Un-walled' Man; The Man without self control\nGod relates the man who has no rule over his spirit as a city without walls for protection. Imagine that Babylon has been without walls against it's enemies; there would always be an unhindered entrance by it's enemy to destroy and rob the city of its glory and splendor. ***Self control is a strong, solid and fortified wall that protects a man from the enemies that comes to destroy his soul.***A man without self control acts before thinking, he is prone to making irreversible mistakes in life, this man allows whatever urge or desire to sit enthroned in his heart and dominate his life without thorough scrutiny. It is very sad to note that without control over self, one would always act outside of the direction of God's Holy Spirit. Remember Self leads to death. Just as a city without wall is prone to the enemies attack, so is a man without self control prone to the attack of sin and its lusts; leading to his destruction.\n\nThe ability to control oneself in every situation and temptations of life is a virtue to be acquired at all cost. Those with this virtue think before acting, they rarely make mistakes and at most cases they are protected from those destructive influence that are paramount in our world today. So today start taking full control over your spirit by the power of God. Certain times in life we find ourselves in a confused state and at such times we don't know the next step to take,  it might be that you are about taking a major decision in your life; maybe a decision of who to marry, where to relocate to with your family, and so on. Then you don't know how to go about these crucial  decision making process. God is saying to you dear reader that ***the entrance of His word gives light***, it can be rephrased to say ***the right application of God's words dispels ignorance.***\n\nWhenever we are about taking major decision in life, it is expedient that we first of all seek God's approval concerning what we are about to do. These approval can gotten in God's words - The Bible. One major loophole most Christians have is there lack of acknowledging God in whatever they do; they feel God is not concerned about the school their kid go to, the kind of place the go, the event they attend, the spouses they keep and who they marry. When you acknowledge God here is what happens.\n> \" In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths,\" Proverbs 3:6\n\nThe bible says that God will certainly direct the paths of those who acknowledge Him in all that they do.  Mark the word *all*; it means God wants you to acknowledge Him in virtually everything you do in order to stay mistake-free. The world need to know one fact; *without the keen direction of the Holy Spirit, we cannot accomplish much in life*. So do you want your *confusion* taking away, and *direction* given to you?, then start today to apply God's word in whatever challenge you might be passing through.\n\n Now that verse goes further to offer understanding to those who are simple. Now this can also be rephrased to say *it gives insight to those who are in need of it*; God's words broadens your horizon about all concept and topic of life, thereby making you a resource person that people can look up to. Daniel was found ten times better in Babylon because of His acquaintance with the word of God. It enlightened him, it educated him and made him a man of understanding and excellence. So also was Joseph in Egypt; Joseph excelled in a foreign land because he learnt to apply God's word to every situation. Can you seek wisdom, knowledge and insight in God's words today by apply it in your day to day activity? \n\nStart now to read God's words and never skip a day without reading God's word; by doing so you will soon find out that indeed *the application of God's word dispels ignorance and gives insight to those that need insight*.\n\n***Shininglight...dispelling ignorance***\n\n***DON'T FORGET TO UPVOTE, RESTEEM AND FOLLOW FOR QUALITY SPIRITUAL CONTENT.
