After a couple of hours in the middle of the forest I was finally able to catch my first prey\" the taxidermist seemed especially proud when he mentioned that part. \"I still remember the praises I received from the hunter, a born hunter! He said, can you imagine? In the end I felt so flattered that I decided to include him in my work.\" The latter part was said whilst delicately sliding his hand over the torso of the figure. \"It represents the innocence of the human being.\"\n\nMatthew tomó un par de fotos del hombre ciervo mientras escuchaba el pequeño discurso del artista. Debía reconocer que se encontró fascinado con la calidad e innovación de la exhibición. \n\nMatthew took a couple of photos of the deer man while listening to the artist's little speech. He had to admit that he found himself fascinated with the quality and innovation of the exhibition.\n\nEl periodista se giró hacia otra figura ubicada a un par de metros al lado de la actual. El artista, siguiendo su mirada, procedió a guiarle hacia su siguiente obra. “Veo que has ganado cierto interés en mi exhibición.” Matthew no respondió, y solo observó como el artista removía la cubierta de la obra.\n\nThe journalist turned to another figure located a couple of meters next to the current one. The artist, following his gaze, proceeded to guide him to his next work. \"I see that you have gained some interest in my exhibition.\" Matthew did not respond and only watched as the artist removed the cover of the work.\n\n“Esta figura es un poco diferente de la anterior.”  El cuerpo de un ave de gran tamaño fue revelado ante los ojos de Matthew, quien, luego de haber experimentado de primera mano la obra anterior, empezaba a tener cierto entendimiento sobre el tema de la exhibición. “Si la obra anterior tenía que ver con una virtud positiva del ser humano, esta tiene que ver con una negativa, la avaricia.” \n\n\"This figure is a little different from the previous one.\" The body of a large bird was revealed before the eyes of Matthew, who, having experienced firsthand the previous work, was beginning to have some understanding of the subject of the exhibition. \"If the previous work had to do with a positive virtue of the human being, this has to do with a negative one, greed.\"\n\nMatthew levantó su cámara enseguida, mientras sus ojos recorrían la figura de arriba abajo, escudriñando cada rincón de la misma con su mirada. La figura del ave de gran tamaño —que ahora que lo pensaba, se asemejaba mucho a un cóndor— se encontraba posicionada como si estuviera a punto de alzarse en vuelo. Lo único que diferenciaba a la obra del animal real, era su cabeza. En el sitio donde uno esperaría encontrar la cabeza calva y el pico doblado del ave, se podía observar la cabeza de una mujer de mediana edad. Su ceño fruncido, cabello desaliñado y rasgos faciales bastante pronunciados y repulsivos,  le daban a la figura un aura de ferocidad.\n\nMatthew raised his camera immediately, his eyes tracing the figure from top to bottom, scanning every corner of it with his gaze. The figure of the large bird —that now that he thought about it, resembled a condor a lot — was positioned as if it were about to rise in flight. The only thing that differentiated the figure from the real animal was its head. In the place where one would expect to find the bald head and the bent beak of the bird, one could see the head of a middle-aged woman. Her frown, disheveled hair, and rather pronounced and repulsive facial features gave the figure an aura of ferocity.\n\nEl periodista, encontrando un poco familiar los el rostro de esa mujer, no pudo evitar mirar hacia el artista. Este, al notar la mirada de Matthew esbozó una sonrisa de entendimiento. “Veo que te has dado cuenta.” Dijo el hombre, tocando un lado de su rostro con su mano izquierda, mientras que con la otra acariciaba el cabello reseco de la mujer. “Esta que ves aquí es, en efecto, mi madre.” Con cierta melancolía,  el artista miró por un momento los ojos vacíos de su madre, por siempre inmortalizados en una mirada de desprecio.\n\nThe journalist, finding a little familiar the face of that woman, could not avoid looking at the artist. When he noticed Matthew's gaze, he made a knowing smile. \"I see you've noticed,\" the man said, touching the side of his face with his left hand, while with the other he stroked the woman's dried hair. \"This one you see here is, indeed, my mother.\" With a certain melancholy, the artist looked for a moment at the empty eyes of his mother, forever immortalized in a look of contempt.\n\nMatthew no pudo evitar capturar ese momento emocional en una fotografía, mientras esperaba la explicación del artista. Creyó comprender en ese momento la razón de sus superiores al enviarlo allí, ¡el sujeto era un genio! \n\nMatthew could not help but capture this emotional moment in a photograph, while waiting for the artist's explanation. He thought he understood at that moment the reason of his superiors for sending him here, the man was a genius!\n\nEl hombre, al notar que su mente había divagado, retiró su mano de la figura. Con una sonrisa, miró hacia el periodista. “Esta obra nació en un viaje por las cordilleras andinas en Sudamérica. Pensé,” el artista dejó salir una leve risa al llegar a esa parte “que ver las aves de carroña de mayor tamaño sería lo más ideal para el último recorrido de tan despreciable mujer.” El odio en la voz del artista no escapó la percepción de Matthew, quien decidió no comentar al respecto, sin embargo, su entusiasmo hacia la exhibición creció considerablemente.\n\nThe man, noticing that his mind had wandered, withdrew his hand from the figure. With a smile, he looked at the reporter. \"This work was born on a trip through the Andean mountain ranges in South America. I thought,\" the artist let out a little laugh when he got to that part \"that seeing the larger carrion birds would be ideal for the last journey of such a despicable woman.\" The hatred in the artist's voice did not escape the perception of Matthew, who decided not to comment on it, however, his enthusiasm for the exhibition grew considerably.\n\nNotando que su invitado no comentó nada sobre su obra, el artista decidió mantener silencio mientras caminaba hacia la última figura. Matthew hastened his footsteps to follow the artist, who already had the veil of the third work. \"This one here is something that takes my sleep away at night,\" the man said in whispers that echoed in the silence of the room.\n\n“Como puedes observar, se encuentra incompleta.” Debajo de la cubierta solo se encontraba las partes desmembradas de lo que parecía ser un mamífero de gran tamaño. Tal vez un gorila, u otro animal por el estilo. El olor a sangre seca y podredumbre asaltó las fosas nasales de Matthew, quien resistió las ganas de vomitar. “Aún no he encontrado al modelo humano indicado para inmortalizarlo con esta obra de arte, lo cual es bastante frustrante.” Ambos, el periodista y el artista, se miraron detenidamente por un corto intervalo de tiempo, durante el cual nadie dijo absolutamente nada. El aire se tornó pesado, y la tensión aumentaba con el paso de cada segundo. Cuando la situación estaba tomando un giro para lo peor, Matthew señaló hacia una esquina del salón repentinamente. “¿Qué es eso?”\n\n\"As you can see, it is incomplete.\" Beneath the deck were only the dismembered parts of what appeared to be a large mammal. Maybe a gorilla, or another animal like that. The air became heavy, and the tension increased with the passage of each second.
