I have been anticipating a fall from this area for quite some time and some of my previous analysis have gotten that right on the money. We have been bouncing off this 9.3-9.5k for a while and while I thought it was going to break last time, it rebounded again. While we might get another bounce to the upside. It seems a break down is just a matter of time. The descending triangle pattern is more telling than anything. But what's more is we have a negative MACD on the daily that is about to cross. We also have lagging RSI that doesn't bode well either. Even on the weekly, MACD has crossed to the downside and RSI looks week. \n\nIf we look at the chart with a keener eye we can see we have an even greater similarity to a pattern that happened before. However, this pattern seems to be compressed like it's happening much quicker. The first thing to notice is back in march of 2018, look how we had 2 peaks and how they compare to the present outlined in purple. Very similar. Then we have been making a series of lower highs just like before. Even after the first dip, we had a similar pattern form in the bright purple line, but again, the time compression is much smaller. This leads me to believe that we might get another smaller bounce off of 9.3k to 10k again. But is it worth the risk with a potential massive downward move? That remains to be seen. Either way, check out the details I outlined on my chart up there. I go into the RSI and MACD on my previous analysis below, be sure to check that out as well.\n\nIf we look at the magnitude of the last descending triangle , we had a 41% move to the down side. If that were to happen again we would get a move down all the way to the 5.5k-6k area before basing out. I believe just above 7k will make for a good trade, but it will require discipline knowing that we could drop to the 5.5k-6k area. After that happens, I think it will be a great buying opportunity going into 2020. Keep in mind what I have outlined takes MONTHS to transpire and that we could be moving sideways for a while. However, once this all take place, whether we base out at 7k or 5.5k area, I think it will make for a great long term buy opportunity and it will be time to HODL all the coins. As you can see the last week has been met with little movement and volatility . MACD has completely gone negative on the daily and still shows signs of going down more. RSI isn't even in oversold territory yet. \n\nJust looking at price, what do you notice? That it's a descending triangle type pattern. It's sloping down as price converges on this 9.5k level. Once this breaks, we'll move to the next support area of 8k where we should get a bounce. From there I would imagine will go sideways or resume down. It's highly doubtful that after we bounce that we'll resume upward. While possible, I think we need to see some more development in the charts for that to happen. \n\nAll in all, expect more downside in the near term. \n\nAnnouncing Halycon Research! Today, I want to go over some thoughts on Bitcoin. Everywhere I read people are saying BTC is going to the moon. There are moon projections all over and some of them are quite good. But will it moon this soon? and if it does, why?\n\nI am playing Devil's advocate here to every single moon post(there have been a lot!) and want to lay out some possibilities for BTC. Of course crypto never seems to go quite as planned but this will give us some guidelines to different scenarios and how thing will play out.\n\n1. Volatile Growth Scenario - We launch upwards to 15k or even higher. Doing this will result in a lot of buyers and sellers constantly battling it out and bitcoin will ultimately go higher but expect a lot of volatility in doing so. If you look at the circle comparison I drew before the last run, we get some volatility and ultimately stay flat before we really start to move up. This would coordinate with a positive MACD, even though it's weakening. RSI has many times before been irrelevant as price moves up. fundamentally there has been plenty going on to lead to a high growth scenario.\n\n2. Slow Growth Scenario - I feel this would be a healthier version for Bitcoin to follow. Lets first look at some technicals on why this could happen. Volume - It's gone up a lot and a lot of people have bought in at 6,500 or higher. The ones that bought at the 3.5k area are up 100%+. 100%+ is a really good return. We have already seen some profit taking and if more people continue to do, we could get a move down. Miners and other places that need to keep the lights on will have to sell at these levels. RSI has created a divergence on the weekly. Does this hold any credence or does it get ignored? As mentioned above, MACD is softening. \n\nCharts like this confirm a move up, but also indicate we could get a pull back before upside: https://twitter.com/hansthered/status/1139939382595506177/photo/1\n\nWhere does Libra fit into all of this? I feel it splits these 2 scenarios, either people will buy in BTC a lot now and drive it up, or wait as time gets closer to see what happens. Whether you hate Libra or not, it's going to change the landscape of things quite significantly. Libra will bring crypto awareness to the masses as time gets closer to it's launch.\n\nRisk/Reward ratio: If these 2 scenarios are presented for us in which we either go to BTC 20k or BTC 5k. We have a 100% upside and 50% downside. A 2:1 risk/reward ratio. Is that something you take right now? A question to ask yourself when taking a position right now in BTC and crypto in general. If you have been following me, you know a few things about my posts. That I am not a perma bear and that i am not a perma bull either. You probably also know that I ladder in my entries. I have written numerous times about my strategy and how it looks. For the past 2-3 months I have been laddering in my positions in preparation for a large move to the upside. I am still targetting 10k. Let me go into why I am doing this and detail one of the core belief's behind it. \n\nIf you remember back in May, one of my target's was 4k. I developed a strategy and entry points around that if the worst case scenario were to happen and play out. Which it is. While i am entering in ladder positions on BTC -1.16% . All of my ladder positions have been filled on ETH and others. From 450 down to 200. I am down on those positions right now, which is fine. It sucks, but that's the markets. \n\nSherem, there is a ton of bad news. You are either stupid, crazy or both! Perhaps. But remember what Buffet said. \"Be Fearful when others are Greedy and Greedy when others are Fearful\" \n\nI entered in at 6.5k and I have ladders down to 4k, with an emergency one at 3k. I am investing over the next months, I guess you can call in long term swing trading maybe? Here's the thing, if you are trading you need to expect loses mixed in with your wins. If you are good. REALLY good, you can out trade any buy and hold person. But are you that good? Personally, I am not 100% of the time. IMO -3.84% , the time to trade has passed. It's time to load up for the next wave up and continue to do so. (I am not calling BTC -1.16% to 50k here. I am calling BTC -1.16% to like 10k) You could keep trying to beat your 50% win rate and beat the market. But what if you miss those 4 weeks where BTC -1.16% went from 5k to 20k? it's gonna suck. This is why I am positioning myself to ride the next wave up. I don't feel I am too early with this, let me go into detail why. \n\nFirst, this hinges on the core belief that I do not believe crypto is going away. Now keep in mind that I have weighted my portfolio's accordingly as to what i believe will be better performing and BTC -1.16% is not my heaviest weighting by any means. But that is a decision you can make. Crypto has been around for 10 years, it's already been through a couple different types of markets. Bull runs, Bear runs, etc... I believe we will head back up again. Switzerland just launched an ETP -0.16% on their 1.6 trillion dollar market hitting Thursday. We have BAKKT, ETH futures coming out. Binance, Bitfinex, Coinbase making Billions of dollars(they need to attract customers, gotta keep that market up!). Banks getting involved wanting in on this. Even the prospect of the SEC approving VanEck this month after the meeting notes came out. \n\nThese are the reasons I am buying in and laddering. I have already filled all my positions on ETH and LTC. On ripple I am already profitable and I added more. I am watching what happens over the coming months and will evaluate accordingly. \n\nOnce a catalyst comes out, we will go up in a hurry. we need to break 6.5k for a sustain up move. Broken Trendline . Check. \n2. Broken Wedge to the upside. Check. \n3. Broken RSI wedge . Check. \n\nUSDT scare drove price up. Right now we are getting some disparity on different exchanges. On Bitfinex for example, we have BTC 5.05% printing around $6,900, but on Gemini and Coinbase we are printing around $6,400. If this dispairty holds, this will be very good and will drive prices higher. Bots (and people) will begun buying cheap BTC 5.05% from USD on Coinbase and GDAX and selling it higher to profit, or just holding knowing they can sell it higher. Think about a bot making a $500 tick every time they buy and sell almost instantly. Arb bots have been dormant for some time, I bet they get turned on agian. Ultimately, if we see this price disparity continue, we will see prices go higher substantially. \n\nVolatility returning is great news.       "body": "We can see that this upwards trend line has been holding quite nicely for the past several months and has remained in tact since the last post. As we have approached this larger downward trend line to the upside we have ran into resistance. Which is no surprise.  Bucking a down trend typically happens slowly and after the markets chops around. Of course a piece of news could send it up quite significantly which would of course null the slow move up. \n ![btc eyeing 7k.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQqnLup41mS3CxePQJQfsg49XQfWpxNZrFn2Sh8LTYdxS/btc%20eyeing%207k.png)\n\nYou can see that after we broke the 6550/6600 zone to the upside, the market has come back down to that area and used it as support.  I imagine that we will chop around from this point and wouldn’t be surprised to see it dip below 6.5k a bit before getting a rebound to form more of a bottom.\n\nIt was very coincidental that our last report spoke about a move coming after the VanEck decision and then the decision came shortly thereafter. While I was expecting the SEC to announce something this week, they decided to last week. This went accordingly as we saw a move up in BTC shortly after the delay was announced and my post. As previously mentioned, we are now in the midst of the same scenario. Strong MACD cross, RSI looks good. \n\nWhat's interesting about this scenario that's playing out is the last initial short squeeze propelled BTC 2.57% from 7k to 8k and went down by 14k -1.20% in contracts. While we have moved up from 6-7k and there has only been a squeeze out of roughly 7k in contracts. We still have a lot of lemonade to make with those bear tears and this will continue to drive BTC 2.57% higher. \n\nWe'll look to get out just under 10k. You can put a protective stop in place, all though I don't think it's necessary. IMO SEC doesn't have any preferences about who's issuing the ETF, I think they are just trying to find whatever excuse to reject those applications.\n\nThe problem with that strategy is that sooner or later, they will run out of excuses. Moreover, as Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies get more legitimate, they will accept the fact that indeed this is something people want. \n\nWhen that happens, expect a massive load of money flowing into Bitcoin. They are many investors that don't want the Bitcoin itself but just its exposure, since it's a different class of asset.",

      "body": "Earlier this month the delay of the VanEck ETF sent bitcoin plummeting down along with everything else. However, before this news, ETFs had been getting the can kicked down the road for as long as possible. Why would this \"sudden\" delay and not even DENIAL cause crypto to go plummeting down? Just the fact that companies are filing for Bitcoin ETF's is VERY bullish to me. It means that the MAJOR players, (IE; Proshares, an ETF manager with 30 BILLION in assets) believes Bitcoin is going to be around for a long time. You don't spend 100's of thousands of dollars on lawyers and SEC filing fee's unless you know it's going to get approved. These major players will get it approved, it's not if or a maybe, it's WHEN. Before we dive more into that lets look at the \"cartel\" aspect a bit first.\n\nThe people behind the curtain want cheaper crypto before it runs up again. They know that BTC and especially ETH are tied to a lot of ICO's. Cartel knows this, so they made the VanEck delay a big deal (when in fact it's not) and the media spammed it  to drive down crypto to cheap levels in order to buy. Not only that, but they know most ICO's are scams, they know ICO's don't have a project and their objective was to get money quickly. When everything started plummeting they also dumped. Whether an ICO is a scam or not, they need to have currency to run their business or cash out.\n\nOn to the ETF discussion. The First thing to realize is the difference between the VanEck ETF and the ProShares ETF. The VanEck ETF is going to utilize physical crypto for their ETF. While that is a big deal, a delay by the SEC is not very bearish in my view. The fact that someone is willing to have a physical ETF is Bullish to me. In fact, expect the SEC to delay the VanEck ETF well into 2019. That's what a government body does, they delay things. \n\nThe difference with ProShares. ProShares is an ETF based on the CME and CBOE futures market. For reference, there are over a 100 ETF's in existence at this present time that are based on FUTURES markets. That being said. CME and CBOE both have the blessing of the SEC and are approved and regulated by the SEC for their Bitcoin Futures contracts. I read an article about some of the SEC concerns with the Winklevoss ETF and why it was denied. Different scenario, completely. The Winklevoss's couldn't get their ETF approved even after the SEC already approved 2 different futures market. You can say all you want that the SEC is favoring other entities over the Winklevoss's, or maybe the Winkle's just don't know what they are doing because they aren't Finance guys? I think it's that simple really.\n\nIt's in the interest of all the major players to have another bull run. According to some stats on Coinbase. Coinbase trading activity has fallen by 80%. Similar stats are on Bitstamp and others. Coinbase made over a BILLION dollars last year. Lack of interest in Crypto kills their cash cow. They need price to increase so people are interested again. All of these major players are going to put a price floor in crypto. While I believe 6k is a perfect spot to do it and the ETF approval would be extremely bullish. The thing I am certain of is that I doubt it's going much further down than 4k if it even gets there. \n\nI don't have a crystal ball....maybe the SEC doesn't approve it and nothing happens. Most of the news I read expects the SEC to deny the Proshares ETF.  For them, it will be surprising if it gets approved.
