They were released from custody after posting bail early Nov. 8 on the condition that they surrender their passports; they had been staying at a lakeside hotel in Hangzhou before flying home.\n\n\"As long as my boy's back here, I'm fine,\" LaVar Ball told ESPN. \"I'm happy with how things were handled. A lot of people like to say a lot of things that they thought happened over there. Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.' I'm from L.A. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses. My son has built up enough character that one bad decision doesn't define him. Now if you can go back and say when he was 12 years old he was shoplifting and stealing cars and going wild, then that's a different thing.",

The sanctions targeting Russia, however, have drawn the most attention due to President Donald Trump's persistent push for warmer relations with President Vladimir Putin and ongoing investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 campaign.\n\nThe White House had objected to a key section of the bill that would mandate a congressional review if Trump attempted to ease or end the sanctions against Moscow. But lawmakers from both parties opted to keep the sanctions review due to wariness over the relationship between Trump and Putin.\n\nIt was not immediately clear whether Trump would veto the bill, an action that would spark an outcry from both parties and risk a potential override.\n\n\"The legislation ensures that both the majority and minority are able to exercise our oversight role over the administration's implementation of sanctions,\" said Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., the No. 2 House Democrat. \n\nHouse Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., posted a legislative business schedule that shows the sanctions bill will be voted on Tuesday. McCarthy had pushed to add the North Korea sanctions to the package. The House had overwhelmingly passed legislation in May to hit Pyongyang with additional economic sanctions, but the Senate had yet to take up the bill.\nThe Senate last month passed sanctions legislation that targeted only Russia and Iran. Congressional aides said there may be resistance among Senate Republicans to adding the North Korea penalties, but it remained unclear whether those concerns would further stall the legislation. The aides were not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.\n\n\"North Korea, Iran and Russia have in different ways all threatened their neighbors and actively sought to undermine American interests,\" McCarthy and Rep. Ed Royce of California, the Republican chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a joint statement. \"The bill the House will vote on next week will now exclusively focus on these nations and hold them accountable for their dangerous actions.\"\nThe negotiators also addressed concerns voiced by American oil and natural gas companies that sanctions specific to Russia's energy sector could backfire on them to Moscow's benefit. The bill raises the threshold for when U.S. firms would be prohibited from being part of energy projects that also included Russian businesses.\n\nAlthough there is widespread support for the legislation, the bill stalled after it cleared the Senate over constitutional questions and bickering over technical details.       "body": "The US Federal Communications Commission on Thursday approved allocating a larger consolidated block of spectrum for use by motor vehicle and aircraft radar systems to help avoid crashes.\n\nThe FCC first approved 1GHz of spectrum in 1995 for motor vehicles to use radar that allowed for the introduction of collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control systems that are credited with preventing tens of thousands of crashes annually.\n\nThursday's decision expands the band that vehicle radars can operate to 5GHz of spectrum and will improve lane departure warning, blind spot detection systems, automatic braking and pedestrian detection, the FCC said.\n\nIn 2016, some 20 automakers reached a voluntary agreement with US auto safety regulators to make collision-avoiding braking systems standard equipment by 2022, a move that could eliminate 1 million crashes a year.\n\nFCC Chairman Ajit Pai said the agency was giving automakers \"the bandwidth needed\" to allow \"proven technologies that enable services like collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, and lane change assistance\" and allow for \"new innovations.\"\n\nAutomakers will exit some other smaller portions of spectrum used for some radar systems as part of the expansion after 2022, the FCC said.\n\nThe vote harmonizes vehicle spectrum with European rules that could allow automakers to bringtechnologies to the US market faster, the FCC said.\n\nThe decision will also lead to improved aviation safety by boosting foreign object debris detection radars on airport runways and aircraft wingtip radars that can help avoid collisions with objects while moving on airport grounds.\n\nThe move was prompted by a petition filed by German auto supplier Robert Bosch GmbH in 2012. Continental AG said the expanded spectrum will allow for \"better range separation, range accuracy, angular accuracy, and reliable object discrimination.\"\n\nFCC Commissioner Michael O'Rielly voted for the change but noted automakers were granted another block of spectrum in 1999 for vehicle-to-vehicle communications, but it has gone largely unused.\n\nIn December, the US Transportation Department proposed requiring future new cars and trucks to be able to \"talk\" to one another, but it has not been finalised.\n\nAutomakers are pursuing technologies to assist drivers in avoiding crashes while working on fully self-driving cars.\n\nUS traffic deaths jumped 8 percent in the first nine months of 2016, following a spike in 2015 when road deaths had their highest full-year increase since 1966.       "body": "Just last month, British luxury smartphone maker Vertu announced that the company has reached an agreement with TCL to use latter's technology for its smartphones. At the time, Vertu said that 30,000 handcrafted Vertu phones will be manufactured under TCL partnership but now the premium smartphone maker is reportedly shutting down.\n\nEarlier this year, Turkish businessman Hakan Uzan acquired Vertu for a consideration of GBP 50 million (roughly Rs. 402.65 crores). As per a report by Financial Times, Uzan tried to repay the company's debt worth GBP 138 million (roughly Rs. 1,154 crores) for GBP 1.9 million (roughly Rs. 15.9 crores) , points out Android Police. As the creditors rejected this offer, Vertu's operations are going to shut down.\n\nNotably, the concierge services for previous buyers are also being reportedly suspended. While 200 employees are being laid off due to this shutdown, Uzan has been said to be planning to make comeback later this year. As Uzan still has the design and technology licenses, we can see Vertu-branded smartphones produced from TCL factories, Android Police says.\n\nIt is not especially surprising that Vertu has been facing financial problems as it is hard to find customers who are ready to pay thousands of dollars but offer functionality that is equal to or even less than that offered by current flagship smartphones.       "body": "It seems as though Google's Android platform is facing its worst time yet as far as malware infestations go. After two malware-related reports in the past week - CopyCat and SpyDealer - there are now reports of another malware, called LeakerLocker, that has the potential to send your personal pictures, messages and browser history to your friends. What's more, this malware is also reportedly a ransomware that does not encrypt files.\n\nPopular security technology company, McAfee has discovered that the LeakerLocker ransomware can be accidentally downloaded from the Google Play. As of now, It has noted two apps in particular, Wallpapers Blur HD and Booster & Cleaner Pro, that seem to carry the malware. Notably, the ransomware steals the information, creates an unauthorised backup, but does not encrypt them. Instead, it demands \"a modest ransom,\" failing which the attacker would leak the victim's private data to their contacts.\n\nMcAfee has reported the ransomware to Google. One of the apps, Wallpapers Blur HD, has been downloaded between 5,000 and 10,000 times, and one user has pointed out that the wallpaper app strangely requests permissions such as calls, reading and sending SMS, access to contacts, among other things. The second malicious app, Booster & Cleaner Pro is an easier target as this is the sort of app that requires access to almost everything in your phone to function properly, which users may unwittingly give permission to.\n\nLeakerLocker is the third in a series of malware-related reports this past week. On Monday, it was reported that an Android malware, named SpyDealer, had the ability to steal a user's personal data from over 40 popular apps that include Facebook, WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram and more. This comes following another report last week of a CopyCat malware that had reportedly affected over 14 million Android devices last year. These cases have started to paint a pretty gloomy picture about the safety of Android OS, but at least we know that Google is taking some active anti-malware measures to help out its users.\n\nFor Android users who feel recent malware-related reports are getting too much for Google's own good, there may a bit of relief in knowing that the tech giant has been reported to be working on an Android 'panic button' that would help users exit a potentially malicious app and back to the home screen. There's no word on when Google will release this feature, but when last reported, it was being tested on Android 7.1 Nougat.
