After the IDO, the worst happened and it indeed showed to be a scam.\n\n\nThe $8PAY Inside job\nRight after 8PAY was listed, an insider manipulated the price, blocking every user from buying except himself. In this way, he pumped the price by buying 200 ETH worth of 8PAY so that all buyers who wanted to buy the token, would already pay 10x more than normal.\nBy doing this, he managed to buy most of the token supply so that he can easily control it in the future.\n\nInteresting things about the first transaction listing on Uniswap:\nThe purchase on Uniswap with 200 ETH is done obviously outside of Uniswap UI (which does not allow price impact higher than 15%),\nhttps://etherscan.io/tx/0xacdc7647b303bafed67a7467a8a1c715daed90eeb99703f63c3599dcabe4f6c7\nThe wallet,0x9a146bd800722b4e72bb757746cefe16c7943f2d was the payer of 200 ETH (previously received from Binance in a single withdrawal - meaning the account was verified) - the recipient of the 8PAY tokens is a different wallet, which started selling to the Uniswap pool straight away in fractions of 2,000-5,000 tokens (out of 908,000 initially received)\nhttps://etherscan.io/token/0xfeea0bdd3d07eb6fe305938878c0cadbfa169042?a=0xf55b7a8cc0d9f3b0d3f35f7e1b31436fe6c66666\nThe transaction was made with a gas price of 25 gwei - which is substantially lower than the average gas price.\nThis seller wallet ending 6666 is still on the top list. Together with several wallets, it shared the 8PAY tokens. This increases the chance of such projects that take advantage of the bullish market to run a scam and make quick money, by leveraging retailers with FOMO tactics. Investors deposit funds even without checking the smart contract and an audit. 8PAY Network is an example of such a project and now I will explain to you why.\n\n8Pay Auditing:\nIt took me a lot of time to find out their smart contract. Finally, after some digging, I found it. Here is the audit: https://8payscam.medium.com/8pay-security-analysis-f7d8c14527f0\nThe code was bytecode, so I had to decompile it — scam generally bytecode contracts to make it harder to read their code to third parties.\nAccording to the testnet token variant, the initial distribution will be manual, which means that the token total supply will be received to the deployer and lately transferred into the other project contracts (e.g. private sale contract and vesting contract). However, the 8PAY Network team missed this step. Presale will be started with no external audits, or even general info about tokenomic or contract owning. That's absolutely unfair for the whole community\nWe cannot find any governance code on the testnet. Having no governance means that the project owner has full control over the token distribution. It means that he can exit scam anytime. This concept is not correct and does not correspond to the level of the decentralized projects.\nSome unnamed contracts have pausers, which worked as whitelisted accounts. Also, we can mention that the project will potentially have a funds lock period. It means raising 2.5milions for this small development is not needed.\nTEAM\nAs the project has serious technical vulnerabilities, I started to get more information about the team. So far this seems legit and seems like a group that has worked together for a long time. However, I still had concerns and kept searching.\nThe BESA friends have another company for renting luxury cars in Dubai named Besa Rentals. Think twice before investing in such projects!\nYou risk investing in malicious actors who are specialized in investment frauds. These scams generally consist of collecting funds for a supposed new project, and soon after the funds have been collected, the creator takes possession of the capital and disappears.
