      "body": "I was not that happy about where my life was a year ago and what I was focusing on. It wasn't a bad place, it just felt like I had hit a wall in what I wanted to do in life. I still have a small homestead, still making progress on that front with learning new things all the time.       "body": "Well this last week we lost a baby chick, and even though this is the first one out of 25 that we've raised that we lost, it hit hard. It isn't clear why it died at 5 weeks old and it's caused me to watch the others like a hawk (but not so I can figure out a way to eat them lol).\n\nOn top of the passing of the chick, my toddler has learned how to open the front door and climb in and out of her high chair... I swear this girl has literally no fear. Seriously, she runs TOWARDS you if you say your going to get her. But seriously need some time away from this crazy curious toddler, can't seem to catch up and have even a speck of the energy she has and it's starting to wear down my mental health. I've said go away to her too many times in the past few days. Too much headstrong in mom and daughter equals to butting heads and frustrated love relationship.\n\nAnd today was the teenagers first day back at public school. Dealing with a teen that suffered from the mental abuse of feeling worthless and not good enough that turned into severe depression and lead to cutting at school was just about as stressful as what she had to have been going through. But she's doing so much better, I think just being in an established home that is stable and permanent has given her the base she needed to feel safe bad secure.\n\nNow we just have to get past the rain beating down gloom and muggy hot weather and the weekend will be good!",

      "body": "I do a detox every couple of months, maybe I should write an in depth post for you to read but here's the short version; I do it for 5 days, I cut meat and bread out and only eat fruit, veggie soup, snack on nuts, and eggs. I keep the eggs in the diet cuz I need the filling high calorie in the morning to get me going and keep me going. Usually I'll do eggs and toast for breakfast, salad and crackers and cheese for lunch, and some kind of meat dish for dinner. This little detox I do as a kinda reset. Sometimes we still eat processed food and I grab pop tarts or frozen pizza sometimes, so I usually only do the detox when I feel I've had too much processed food.",

      "body": "Going to jump on the wagon with this fun little challenge. Thanks for pointing it out to me @jayjayjeffery!!! \n\nSo here it goes, my most embarrassing moment on the homestead. It would have to be a few months ago when one of our roosters 'matured' a littler earlier than the others and started learning how to mount the hens. The hens were freaking out, making terrible noises, I thought the rooster was trying to kill the hens! So I enlisted my younger sister to help me catch the rooster to put him in 'rooster jail'. It was hard, we got scratched, winded, and dirt up our shins and calves. Then my dad came out and we happened to have just ran the rooster over to the side of the run with the door and my dad walks in, got down on a knee and reached out and grabbed the roosters foot. Just like that! I can't believe me and my sister chased that rooster around for like half an hour and my dad comes out and gets him in like a second! Not to mention he wasn't covered in dirt and chicken poop after... \n\nThat's it, hope you all get a good laugh at imagining a woman in her 20's and a teen running around after a rooster cuz he was trying to hurt the hens before we realized it was just how chickens do their thing. Lol",

      "body": "So as I mentioned in my introduction, I took in my cousin who is 15, almost 16. Dealing with a teenager has been a constant trip down memory lane. Trying to remember the things I went through in high school to help her through my experiences. Today was one of those 'light at the end of the tunnel' moments. \n\nShe started a conversation with 'my friend Braden messaged me last night.' We were watching Bones and they were showing an episode that cased teen pregnancy. I guess that's what reminded her of this conversation. Braden had messaged her sayin his girlfriend was pregnant what should he do, she's pregnant from the guy she was with before me. \n\nI'll let that sink in. Teenage drama. \n\nShe told him 'I've never been in this situation so I don't really know.' She said the gist of the next messages were the young girl self aborted and there was blood everywhere then that she was headed to the hospital. \n\nOh my. So much information to inform her on and start talking about all in the blink of an eye. \n\nLet's look into the teen world in our country. A 14 year old girl is sexually and not properly educated in protecting herself. Teens faced with being parents and a teen guy faced with the decision to either step away before the relationship goes further or deciding to be a teen father to a child that's not his. Teens looking to other teens for advise instead of going to the parents. This makes me sad. \n\nMine and my daughters conversation gave me lots of hope for at least some glimmer of intelligence in a teen lol. We talked about a woman's feelings about finding out she's pregnant regrdless of the stage the fetus is in. When teens should be having sex and why. And my desire for her to tell me if and when her and her boyfriend decide to have sex so we can get her protection that's best suited for her. \n\nI hope this post reaches more than just a few parents and we realize that making sex taboo and bad isn't safe for our children anymore. We need to talk to them about the good things not just the bad. We need to talk to them about practicality not fantasy.",

      "body": "Going to jump on the wagon with this fun little challenge. Thanks for pointing it out to me @jayjayjeffery!!! \n\nSo here it goes, my most embarrassing moment on the homestead. It would have to be a few months ago when one of our roosters 'matured' a littler earlier than the others and started learning how to mount the hens. The hens were freaking out, making terrible noises, I thought the rooster was trying to kill the hens! So I enlisted my younger sister to help me catch the rooster to put him in 'rooster jail'. It was hard, we got scratched, winded, and dirt up our shins and calves. Then my dad came out and we happened to have just ran the rooster over to the side of the run with the door and my dad walks in, got down on a knee and reached out and grabbed the roosters foot. Just like that! I can't believe me and my sister chased that rooster around for like half an hour and my dad comes out and gets him in like a second! Not to mention he wasn't covered in dirt and chicken poop after... \n\nThat's it, hope you all get a good laugh at imagining a woman in her 20's and a teen running around after a rooster cuz he was trying to hurt the hens before we realized it was just how chickens do their thing. Lol",
